Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann was a short teen love story. This story was refreshing, and light hearted for the most part. I enjoyed the characters and the story line. I love that the story line is not a typical love story, and they go outside the box. This is the first book by this author and I enjoyed it, I will definitely give another book by this author a read. Overall, I give it 4 stars.
Burning Britely is a cute coming of age story. Deidre Huesmann has taken a sensitive subject matter into a beautiful story. Sometimes it is awkward enough to try to get through high school without being harass for being yourself. This is a story of a nerd who falls in love with the jock, the only difference is that it is a straight jock and a homosexual nerd. I love this story because it shows acceptance and not hate. It is hard enough when you are being labeled but it can be tortured and have lasting affects the rest of your life. As an adult reading the YA book, I would recommend that every child read a story of acceptance. I applauded Deidre Huesmann for writing this beautiful book.

This is the second book in this series, the best yet! This is a young adult story about a boy who is a little confused on who he is and trying to figure that out. He struggles with life problems that normal young adults struggle with at this age. Braedyn is a great character and I enjoyed watching him grow throughout the story. I did feel compassion for him as he feels that he has so much on his plate. I didn’t regret picking up this book and you won’t either. A must read!

The story Yearning Young (Burning Britely Book 2) by Deidre Huesmann is a book that I enjoyed reading. It is a story that includes powerful and raw emotions. My emotions were going up and down the entire time. I enjoyed reading it just as much as the first book in the series. The story is told from Braeden’s POV. Braeden is a character that I could empathize and sympathize with. He is at times confused with his feelings, angry, upset, and feels guilt. Braeden is a character that I grew to care about in the first book and this story will have you wanting him to find happiness. He is a young man who has had to grow up fast. He is also protective of those he cares for. He has parents that are not the best role models. This story also has his connection with Jeff Young growing deeper. These two have an attraction to each other. Always believing that he was straight Braeden is not sure what is supposed to come next in his relationship with Jeff. What happens next in their relationship? What does the future hold for Braeden? Read this book to find out. There are intense scenes and dialogue in this story. My heart went out to Braeden and there are times when you just wish you could solve all of his problems. This is a book that once I started, I didn’t want to put down. I got lost in the story. I also enjoyed reading about Jeff. He is a young man who while he was bullied and beaten in the past, is now showing more confidence. There are other characters that you read about. Some of them have been brought forward from the first book and others you are introduced to. Some of them are manipulative and others are friendly to Braeden. This story deals with issues that are heartbreaking. Don’t miss out on the continuing story of Braeden and Jeff. I highly recommend reading it.

You know how some books are written purely for the enjoyment and others seem a little deeper. That is this book! There is the surface but if you look deeper there is a whole other level to this. The way this was written this could be about your brother, cousin or best friend. That makes it more relatable to the reader. You get a look Inside the life of a boy who is abrasive, cranky and prefers to be alone. He is protecting himself and trying to survive high school and figure out he fits in. I really empathized with boy. I was right there with him through all his good and bad times.
Even though it’s a shorts book it still packs a punch. One thing i really like about Jeff is how he thinks about things. Like basketball for example or lunch at school…..or a kiss. This is a story I won’t forget. In fact I will reread it when I need to lighten up a little.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a great YA/coming of age story, full of self-discovery, angst, drama, friendship, expectations, emotions, and self-acceptance. I am familiar with Ms. Huesmann’s other work, and really liked the Modern Greek Tale series, and The Alpha’s Pride- but this book is something different – and again it just proves that Ms. Huesmann can work with any genre/subject and create an engrossing story. The book is a short story and is a very quick and easy read. It has a great pace and a smooth flow. The story and characters were interesting and quite relatable. I loved the strong character development and growth that occurred over the course of the story. For such a short story, the characters were fully realised, and the story had a depth that’s not so easy to achieve in a short amount of space- but Ms. Huesmann certainly succeeded where many have failed. I am not going to give away spoilers, or rehash the premise of the story- as the blurb does a better job than I ever could. But, I do recommend reading this book, especially to those who love a great YA novel that has all the angst and inner turmoil that come with being a teenager- exploring the characters ‘coming of age’.

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann is a quick and easy read that you will read in one sitting. It is a young adult story about experiencing life in high school and trying to work out who you are. It is an emotional read as someone who was once happy with who they were is now trying to deal with feelings that are completely foreign. Deidre wrote characters that are relateable and you can see everything in your minds eye. This is an enjoyable read that you will interest any young adult.
Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann was the first time I had read anything from Huesmann and I truly enjoyed the novel. It was a short, yet jam-packed, novel. I would definitely recommend it to those that are looking for a coming of age story to share with their teens or tweens that are questioning their place in the world. It really resounds with that part of all of us as humans that always fight that slight struggle to figure out where we fit amongst the crowd we are floating among at the time. My daughter is currently eleven years old and I would say that she would be able to read and enjoy this in a year or two from now. I would recommend this as one of those conversation starter books, or book club books to read with your tween/teen clubs.
In this story we find out all about Jeff, who turns out to be the social outcast of the high school. He is the awkward one without a clique to fall into. When he is assigned to tutor the star athlete of the school, Braeden, he knows this will lead to nowhere good. Everyone loves Braeden and Braeden loves everyone. What neither expect is for a friendship to blossom between them. Even more shocking Jeff begins to develop romantic feelings for Braeden. In fact, he has fallen in love with Braeden Britely.
The emotions! Holy cow are they ever flowing in this book! I was up and then down, and it was a non-stop ride from beginning to end with this book. I loved how this was relatable at thirty-three just as much as I could see it being relatable to a younger adult. This is the stuff we need to be out there discussing with our children. Talking about and bringing to the forefront, making it normal and ok to be open about. These are feelings that happen to people every day. Thank you Deidre Huesmann for bringing them to life and making them approachable. We need more books like this. I can’t wait to see what else is out there from you and what else you have to come.
Burning Britely is a fabulous story by Deidre Huesmann. Its a coming of age story that follows two very different teenagers. It is the first book I have read by Huesmann, but I will be reading more. Her reading style pulls you in right from the beginning. The emotions are high, with drama, second chances, acceptance, love, fear, everything teenagers feel. Highly recommend the story. Jeff Young is a nerd. He has his eye on valedictorian, even though he is still a junior. He spends his free time studying and getting ahead in homework. He has only one friend, and no intention of branching out. Braeden is the popular senior track star. Everyone lines him, including Jeff, who has been secretly crushing on him. Until a freak incident brings them together and sparks a friendship. Jeff tries to blow off Braeden, unsuccessfully. He is insistent on being friends and pushes until Jeff caves in and agrees to hang out. But can Jeff bury his feelings and separate the crush from the friendship? If not, is he willing to risk social suicide by coming out?

Burning Britely by Deidre Huesmann a four-star read that will burn your heart. I picked this read up as I had enjoyed the authors work before and like the way they write so I didn’t read the blurb before picking it up, and it was a refreshing way to read as it gave me a totally fresh palate and I loved the story, it was powerful, emotional and compassion. Watching Jeff as he grew into himself, watching him go through high school and face the struggles and watch him study to cope, his friendship with Braeden faces lots of social pressure and this book will be great for any young person to show them what we all face, or anyone who was once young, anyone who faced similar struggles.

Burning Britely is a standalone novel by Deidre Huesmann. This is my first novel by this author.
A story about self-acceptance, friendship, and family, it follows two boys Jeff and Braeden. Jeff is not good with talking to people nor is he one to join a crowd. He feels the most comfortable studying and has his future all planned out.
“Studying wasn’t exactly a thrilling hobby, but he liked it just fine. It was comfortable, soothing, and predictable. It also helped him toward his goal of graduating senior valedictorian. Sure, he was a junior now, but what was the point if he hadn’t hit the ground running? He knew the stats—even taking the seniors into account, his GPA was fifth highest in the school.”
He’s only a junior but his main goal is to be senior valedictorian.
Braeden is popular, and track star. After an event brings them together, Jeff finds himself drawn to Braeden, a boy who is his opposite. While use to being unknown, Jeff is now hearing whisper everywhere he goes and kept help but feel flustered whenever Braeden’s name is mentioned.
It was a short read and I wish it was longer but it pulled me in from the beginning and all I wanted to do was read.
I really hope at some point, we get to see these characters again. Maybe in college.
For someone looking for a quick, lovable and enjoyable read, I recommend this.
It is a young adult book about being proud of who you are and I enjoyed it. I enjoyed how this story pulled me in right from the beginning and made me feel as if I was right there in the story. I enjoyed the characters are they were lovable and relateable. Jeff was my favorite even though I felt some compassion for him. I enjoyed watching him grow throughout the story and become the person he truly is. An emotional roller coaster with some twists and turns, I highly recommend this book.
The Alpha’s Pride is the first book in the Blood Bonded series by Deidre Huesmann. It is a very, very quick read but it kept me interested. I certainly would have liked to read more about these characters and would have liked it to be a full book story rather than the short one it is. It was well written and straight to the point.
Val finds herself at the mercy of a shifter but what will she choose? She soon finds herself in a game of life and death with a shifter who likes to play games. Will he stalk her and let her go if she wins or will she lose and face the consequences? Death!
Riker is enjoying his game, he loves the hunt, the thrill of chasing his prey. Will he let her live or will he kill her? What he does know is that she is different than any of the others he has faced, she is a fighter. Perhaps he will not kill her, perhaps she could end up more than he ever thought possible. Could she be what he has longed for?
If you are looking for a quick read and a taste of shifters then this is a book for you.

The Alpha’s Pride by Deidre Huesmann 5 out of 5 stars This is the first book that I have read by Ms. Huesmann it was a short cute story that contains shifters and I love reading about shifters/paranormal.
This is a story where humans and shifters live in fringe societies, Val is taking a risk camping in the woods on shifter territory. Her overconfidence lands her in a game of life and death. This shifter is out for amusement, and doesn’t care if she wants to play. The game is set, and she must participate. He offers her a deal: if she wounds him, she wins. If he catches her, she dies. Riker has every intention of killing her. Or did, before her scent hinted she is a potential blood bonded. Intrigued by the possibility, he pursues her in a hunt that will change their lives… and forever alter shifter and human societies. Will Riker’s pride accept Val as his blood bonded or will they kill her? Can they overcome their shifter/human differences? Will their blood bond change the world between the shifters and humans? You really need to read this short story in order to find out the answers to my questions. Azalee is a Chertz and is living in a land of Spinels and has been shunned all her life but more so after a ceremony to honour their Gods. It was at this ceremony that she was touched by the gods and given a curse. A curse that has seen her thrown into and held a prisoner in a deep dark dirt prison. Being touched by a god means she is the Blistered child kept in a dark prison because if she goes into the sunlight she will burn. All she wants is to live with love from her parents and live in a real home as part of a family with her brothers and sisters. Would it be too much to have a family, get to know her siblings and have friends?
Joel is a Spinel and and needs the light to thrive. Joel stumbles upon ancient writings and after many nights studying, he has discovered where the blistered one is meant to be. So after many years he decides he needs to be the one to rescue her so he sets about trying to free her. Joel feels like he will be fulfilling his destiny if he helps Azalee. He must gain her trust and trust is not something she gives freely. But is he trading one prison for another? One hell for another?
As complications arise Joel realises that he should have planned the needs for their adventure a little better than he has. As they journey together they realise all is not what it seems and that a friend is actually a foe. Secrets and lies only prove that Joel’s trust has been severely misplaced. Does Azalee finally find her freedom, friends and love? Will she finally have a family to call her own? Will she finally be free of all the deceit and lies?
This book is an interesting story with a unique mix of Greek mythology and current times. It is full of intrigue, mystery and definite surprises. This story is a fantasy that young adults will love.
