I did enjoy this book, it was interesting. The world created by the author was very different and I found myself drawn into the imagery. The story seemed to draw on current events and experiences then took us down a path of a possible future should we continue down the path we are traveling. It really was a scary journey and one I hope does not come to pass. I recommend this book and will definitely read further novels by this author.

Simons’ first set of series of Antipodes was absolutely amazing and when I heard about this new series that derived from Antipodes, I was very much eager to get the reading going. The 45th Parallel brought in different themes from the Antipodes series, which I fell in love with as well. Once this latest book came out, I wanted to know where the next adventure would take in this new series! If you are a fan of romance, dystopian, adventures, challenges, paranormal, etc., you will definitely enjoy this story as well. This story focuses on Caitlin and her husband, Gio, as they become ambassadors for the ACC and end up in Canada on their assignment. Although Caitlin demonstrates natural leadership qualities, they struggle to find their place in this new location. The struggles of all these new roles of wife and leader test the limits of the newly married couple along with adding the element of unexpected old enemies reemerging. Such a good story and so many details. Make sure to read previous books as it will give you a deeper appreciation for what to expect in this story.

The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob follows Frankie, who dreams of being promoted from undercover police officer to DNA-enhanced crime fighter. Unfortunately for her, she needs to complete one more mission to prove she’s got what it takes. Will Frankie be able to investigate the mysterious rebels and solve the mystery, or will she be unable to escape the Catford Zone?
I honestly had no idea what I was getting into with this novel but was pleasantly surprised at how quickly I was pulled in. This book was jam-packed with quirky yet oddly realistic characters. The author did a great job building a world and a story that was not only fun to read but thought-provoking as well.

Frankie is a young woman who works as an undercover police officer in London in 2120 in a world where technology rules and everyone has enhancements implanted into their bodies, or at least they do in the north of London, however, those in the south have something similar, however, they are more rudimentary and not always of the best quality. These enhancements are now so integral to Frankie’s life and the lives of those around her that it is automatic to use them, but like everyone else, she wants more.
Frankie has just finished a mission and wants nothing more than to ger the go ahead that her application to be one of the DNA enhanced crime fighters has been approved, but unfortunately, she has to do one more mission before she can get there, but this mission is not exactly what she was hoping for, she has to go into a poverty zone and infiltrate a group of rebels. Frankie is completely unimpressed by this, but will do anything to attain her dream, so when she is prepared, she packs a suitcase and is dropped off at the lift to the poverty zone with just rudimentary clothing, a map and an address, but what she finds when she arrives is worse than she could ever imagine.
The living conditions, the flora, fauna and people have all been understated, they border on inhumane and the number of mutations and dilapidation she sees astounds her, but when she meets her housemates, she is convinced that they cannot be the threat they have been made out to be. As Frankie reports to her superiors, the more she realises that she is stuck there for the long term, however, the more time she spends investigating and figuring out her housemates, the more confused she becomes, especially when she finds out that it isn’t safe to go to ground level, but not why, so she digs and the more secrets she uncovers, the more shocks she finds, but will she ever be able to return to her former life after seeing the poverty zones for herself, or will she succumb to the environment first? This is a sci-fi adventure where nothing is as it seems, and danger surrounds the inhabitants of this changed city as secrets are uncovered, lies are told and truths are revealed in this twisted version of a possible future.

This is the second book in the Latitude series. I do definately recommend reading these books in order and if you can start from the Antipodes series as the books all follow on. This author’s work is always enjoyable to read. The author’s attention to detail means that the reader is captivated by the story and the characters. We are back in this story following Caitlin and Gio as they learn to find their way in life. Following their hearts they get married but that is the first step in them navigating their journey into adulthood. I did feel sorry for Caitlin in parts. As much as she loves Gio I felt like she has so much pressure placed on her shoulders all at once, from becoming a wife and mother to starting a Ambassadorship. Gio tries to help and support her but wanting to remain a strong independent woman his help isn’t always welcome. This puts strain on their young marriage and with the added dangerous of old enemies reappearing you are left wondering if their relationship could survive. One things for sure Caitlin will fight and stop at nothing to protect what she wants and who she loves.
This is a sci-fi adventure which has twists and turns as well as lies, betrayals and tragedy waiting just around the corner this book will certainly keep you gripped.

The second book in The Latitude series, Orenda follows Caitlin and Gio as they continue to bring together the community and face unexpected obstacles and tough challenges. I fell in love with this world from the very beginning in The Antipodes series. The author draws you into a world that is reflective of our own and makes the reader vested in each outcome. Immersive, creative and unpredictable this whole series is amazing. Eagerly awaiting the next book. Highly recommend.

Orenda is the second book in The Latitude series by T.S. Simons. This story/series is an extension of the Antipodes series, and is quite an intriguing read. As with the rest of the series, this is a dystopian, post-apocalyptic, sci-fi story with action, adventure, romance, challenges, danger, drama, tension, suspense, surprising developments, mystery, emotion, family, friendship, community, betrayal, tragedy, revenge, and more. As expected, Ms. Simons once again put her characters to the test. Caitlin and Geo take us along on their adventures as they work towards community harmony- but things aren’t going to be smooth sailing- especially when they get bind-sided by an old enemy putting them, and everything they’ve worked so hard for, at risk. This book was good. It showed us what our future could be, technology wise anyways. Frankie wants to be a superhero, but in order to do that she has to go to a poverty zone. She knows whoever goes there never comes back. Does she pass the test? Is she finally able to be a superhero?

This is the second book in the Latitude series, which in turn is a follow-on series to the Antipodes series. Following on from the first book, this follows Caitlin and Gio. I would highly recommend reading the book prior to this one at the very least before starting this one. Once again this was a well written story, flowing nicely an creating an intriguing world to step into. The complex characters are also well-written, they are developed well and draw you into their lives to the point you need to know what will happen to them next. The author has a great ability to suck you in and making you emotionally invested before you even realise it. I enjoyed the developments in the story, the resurfacing of characters and dangers and seeing how as the characters change and develop, so do the solutions and thought processes. The events were made to feel believable and through provoking at times. It, along with the rest of the series is sure to be one that stays with me and I look forward to where we are taken next.

The Catford Catastrophe Zone is a dystopian sci-fi book set nearly 100 years in the future. The year is 2120 and Frankie is an undercover policewoman in London and she is tasked with infiltrating a group of rebels in the Poverty Zone. As you can imagine, that area is exactly what it sounds like…a place of nightmares, where the worst of society delves. Not only are the people more rugged and conditioned, even the plants are dangerous and creatures lurk. The deeper she gets, the more “over her head” things become. It is not often I can say that I have never read anything like that before, but that is true with this one. It has many layers and the characters and politics are believable, and I will be checking out some of the other works by Petra Jacob.

4.5 stars Orenda is the second book in The Latitude series. It is the sequel to The 45th Parallel which is an extension on the Antipodes series. It is a Sci Fi story with supernatural elements. The principals and beliefs behind Orenda are thought provoking and something that many have theorised and adhered to past and present, for eons and will live on eons in the future. I was intrigued and interesting to see T.S. associate it to this series. Tanya clever writing draws you in and makes you invested in what happens with the characters their hopes, their dreams, their struggles. Expect the unexpected when reading her books but that makes it even more intriguing. There is always something new and exciting that comes to light. It is an even bigger journey that could have long standing effects for everyone. Emotions run high as old enemies resurface and everything is in peril, and Caitlin must fight for what they love most. I can’t wait to see what comes next.

This book is a fantastic follow up to the first in the series and I found it pulled me in from the moment I started reading. I would certainly recommend reading the first book in the series before this one so you can enjoy it as much as possible. I loved getting back into these characters and their journey. It was lovely to see how it developed even further as this book went on. This author has an incredible way of creating a story that is lasting and interesting. The books are imaginative and are ones that I always seem to enjoy. This book is just as good as the first and I am looking forward to seeing where else this series might go.

This was my first time reading this author and I was not disappointed. She has an amazing talent. She builds worlds that you want to get lost in, and the attention to detail is top notch. I feel like I may have taken more away from the story had I read the 1st book, as this is the 2nd in the series, but I was able to follow the story pretty well. If you like dystopian romances, I absolutely recommend this author.

So she decides to throw her test on purpose but ends up in reclamation, then her grandparents are told they are leaving for “solitude”, people don’t return from solitude. She accompanies them along with her mother to say goodbye. As she’s boarding her train to work after saying goodbye her entire world explodes. What will become of Lexi, who is the Y? Are her grandparents and mother alive? This was a great read very action heavy!

Well this was a wild ride of a dystopian future! I had not read previous books from this author, but I will absolutely be checking more of her works out in the future. She weaves together a grim future, where apps and programming are inserted into people’s brains directly and those that can’t work are thrown into the Catford Zone, a grim area where people are trapped with killer plants, weird bugs, and very little to eat. Our protagonist, Frankie, is sent to the Zone, in order to infiltrate concerns of an uprising and learn more about the rebels in charge of it. The author did a great job of creating memorable characters and unveiling their backgrounds and unique character traits in a way that felt organic and real. The story definitely had a variety of twists and turns and I honestly couldn’t anticipate how the story would end. If you are looking for a story that is a fairly realistic scfi dystopian read, this is the book for you.

This is my first time picking up a book by this author Petra Jacob. The Catford Catastrophe Zone was a very unique telling about a dystopian future that was set in the not far off year of 2120, and how technology plays a part in it? Although dystopian future books aren’t my go to reads.( I think the last full series was the divergent series) But the synopsis and cover photo really intrigued me to give this book a shot. I think this Author did a great job at world and character building. It was so well written that I was not left confused And was able to visualize everything she was describing🥰 I really enjoyed the sci-fi thriller nature with .the DNA-enhanced crime fighter, dangerous adventure, and their fight for survival! I’m a new reader to this author but after reading this story I feel as if I have a new favorite to add to my list!!
I enjoy dystopian novels and this one did not disappoint. This is book one of the series which means there’s more adventures to come. It starts off with Lexi having a big birthday and in true Divergent vibes, she’s about to test out to see where she will fit in her future life. She isn’t thrilled with the concept of marrying someone that she hasn’t chosen herself. Essentially not having control over her life choices and her sense of independence did not feel right.
As Lexi finds herself at a crossroads and delving into a dangerous predicament, you find yourself emerged in a dark and tricky world. The expectations of others regarding her future is at an all time high, but just because someone expects something doesn’t mean it’s going to happen.
I highly recommend this book if you enjoy dystopian fiction and well written plots.

The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob is a sci-fi/dystopian story. Frankie is an undercover officer who is trying to get promoted. This is a fantastic dystopian story with a thrilling mysterious sci-fi adventure. In fact, it gave me a bit of a Blade Runner, High Castle, Mortal Engines vibes which I enjoyed.
The futuristic story follows Frankie who is desperate to get the big promotion at work. Up to that point she only received subtle hints of the possibility of a promotion. Yet when she finds her employer is desperate for someone to go undercover for a risky secret mission, she reluctantly agrees to visit the zone filled with the sick and poverty stricken citizens that never seem to make it back to the somewhat safer zones.
The moment she enters the Catford Zone, she immediately finds herself surrounded by a decomposing world in shambles, just like the withering population who have been long forgotten for those outside of the zone. Initially Frankie is paralyzed by the shock of her new surroundings. Then she decides to investigate and learn more about her housemates and how things work in her new surroundings. While she tries to do this and find something sufficiently interesting for her boss to allow her to return home she embarks on an incredible journey that she in no way could have dreamt of until now.
This was a good mind trip with an extremely well illustrated description of Frankie’s world. I enjoyed the eccentric and entertaining characters, flaws and all. I highly recommend this book.

I love when you find a book where you can say “I’ve never read anything like that before!” The Catford Catastrophe Zone by Petra Jacob was such a unique breath of fresh air for me in the Science-Fiction genre. I absolutely loved Petra Jacob’s use of language, humor, and metaphor! Her inclusion of super heroes was also a different and refreshing choice! Her characters were well thought out and fun to get to know, especially the Twins. I found Frankie to be a very relatable character filled with depth and intrigue! I really want to know and discover more about this amazing world that Ms. Jacob created. I hope there is a continuation! I highly recommend this book to anyone who likes dystopian futuristic novels. You will not be disappointed, and like me you will be begging for more!

A different read than I normally choose, however, really enjoyed this dystopian Sci fi novel. Writer paints quite the picture and builds characters and story well. I was enthralled and couldn’t put it down. Another great read poolside in mexico. Will definitely be looking for more from the author!

This is a dystopian sci-fi read. All the characters are excellently detailed and developed. I found it to be a very complex and didn’t want to put it down. Great world building in which you will find action, adventure, danger, Politics and other things that were just downright scary and not so farfetched. I think if you’re a Sci-Fi lover you should definitely give this book a try, you won’t be disappointed.

Rise of the Y is Book 1 in the Y Chronicles and this is a new author to me. I loved this YA Dystopian story….it was hard to put down as I turned the pages wanting to know what will happen next. This is a fast paced read immersed that takes you to a world of control, secrets, danger, action, rules and love.
Lexi just turned 17 and groomed to test into a career path, get married and have children just like her parents and grandparents did. Lexi longs to be different and choose her own path in life. When her plans do not go as planned, she is immersed into a job that is less than ideal with a mate that she has not chosen. When an attacked happens and what she known is lost, Lexi learns quickly secrets that can lead her in a direction she has never known….not knowing whom to trust. Will Lexi find out any truths to the secrets that are being revealed and an uprising of a rebellion?
This is a great story…I cannot wait to see a continuation of Book 2!! This is an exciting start to a new series.

Frankie is an undercover officer in London in the year 2120. AI tech is everywhere and everyone who can afford it has technology implanted in their brains. When she is forced to go undercover into a “poverty zone”, the only thing that keeps Frankie moving forward with the plan is that she’s been promised a promotion. But the mission is a fiasco from the beginning and Frankie fears she may never make it out of the Catford Zone. This is a sci-fi, dystopian story with plenty of thrills.

4 Stars Rise of the Y (The Y Chronicles Book 1) by Angela D. Shelton
Rise of the Y is the first book in The Y Chronicles Series and is a YA Dystopian that is unlike any others I’ve read. This is a new author to me and I’m going to be honest I had a hard t>me getting into this story, it felt rushed at times the storyline felt a bit lacking and I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. I’m thinking its probably the mood I was in so I plan on rereading maybe before the next book to see what happens. I’d recommend reading this book if you like YA Dystopian post apocalyptic stories then this is for you. Im looking forward to seeing what the next book brings.
