This is the beginning of a series, and it definitely sets it up for much more magic and mayhem to come. Ezri is a strong female protagonist while still being reliably human in her limits. There are so many moments I couldn’t help but sympathize with her and her struggles with both her family and work. If you’re looking for a paranormal detective story that kicks butt this is definitely my first pick for you. It will leave you on the edge of your seat and craving more. I will have to be getting my hands on book two to see where we will go now.

Manipulator’s War is Elise’s debut book. It is a YA fantasy tale. The story didn’t flow seamlessly which made it hard to keep on track but it is a good start to the Ruarnon Trilogy. Elise is an Aussie and it is great to see another author from Australia. They have lived with being a part of a brutal war for many years and now when everyone has gone missing Ruarnon has to step up. Linh finds herself in the thick of things when she would rather be anywhere but. Will she be able to help Ruarnon and find peace or will they all loose in the end?

I can’t believe we are already on the last book, book five in this series. Once I saw that the book was out, I grabbed it. I have enjoyed all the books in this series as the story is an apocalyptic urban fantasy that is action-packed and as always kept me glued to the pages. Dahlia the dragon shifter once again finds herself in a race against time, with half her team MIA, monsters on a rampage, and the rest of humanity facing destruction. But if that isn’t enough, they also have to try and stop the veil between the worlds eroding.
Dahlia Nite is brash and kickarse, loud and sassy and faced with a final battle Dahlia lets her dragon free. inside her is done sitting quietly in the background.
Be sure to start at the beginning of this series and work your way through. YOU will not be disappointed.
This is a great YA fantasy story that is an exciting book to read. It is full of action and I found it to be quite fast paced. The story had been developed well and really kept momentum throughout. This is a new author to me and I liked the writing style employed. I thought the author did a great job of creating a non-binary character. It is the first book I have read with this as a focus point and I thought the author really portrayed them well. This is a strong start to a new series and I am looking forward to Book 2.

This book was beyond epic! I was captivated by the story, and the characters that it had possessed. I loved the action, and the whole good vs evil concept as well. There was defiantly some strong character growth as well. I loved the characters and really felt a connection to them, and I will be for sure reading the next installments in the series! I am very much looking forward to it! The whole story itself was captivating. Throw in the strong-willed characters that the book contained, and you truly have a masterpiece! I was astounded in moments as I read, for there was moments where I was not sure what to expect or a clear resolution how to get out of a situation. Linh was a character impossible not to love. She was a great lead to the story, and I loved her heart of never wanting to give up. To have a good leader, you need an enemy as well. This book had that and so much more! The book was a thrilling rollercoaster, and a adventure I am glad to say I took part on! Loved this book! If you’re seeking an adventure that defies the normal genre of an adventure, then look no further! This book had its own level of awesomeness, and it was a must read! Truly do highly recommend reading!

I have enjoyed reading this series from the start. I enjoyed how the author’s writing skills and attention to details made the stories pop. I am sad to see this series end but excited to see what is next for this author. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up as I know that I am in for a non stop adventure. This is a series that I highly suggest reading from the beginning. It will help you enjoy this series, the characters and this author’s writing style. This book is no different. I enjoyed being pulled into the story by the characters from the start. They are connectable, creative and supportive of each other. They took me on a nonstop adventure that was hard to put down. Dahlia finds herself in a race against time and dealing with the dragon inside that is itching to get out. You don’t want to miss what happens with her. She is a great character that truly makes the story for me. She is a strong character that brings the story to life and had me coming back for more. This is a fast paced story that is entertaining and easy to read. This is a great story that I highly recommend. A great series that you don’t want to miss by a great author.
I enjoyed this young adult fantasy story. This is a newer author for me which I enjoyed her writing skills as well as her attention to details that made the story realistic. I found this story to be creative and well written. The characters pulled me in from the beginning. They are connectable and have great growth throughout. A story that is full of action, betrayal, survival of life, abductions and you don’t want to miss the assassins. This is a fast paced, engaging story that was hard to put down. The plot had great growth which made the story easy to read as well as entertaining. This is a story that filled my afternoon with adventure and action. I really enjoyed this story and I highly recommend it.

This is a book young adult fantasy fans may enjoy. A little time travel, a bit of rival kingdoms and a conflict that will bring hard decisions. Linh and Ruarnon must work together to solve this dilemma. I found this story interesting. The story had lots of details. The characters were very well written and their personalities were pretty well-defined. The plot was intense but choppy at times, a bit hard to follow. Over all, fantasy lovers will enjoy this book.

I didn’t know what to expect when first opening “Springs Calling” by Sarah Biglow. I have to say Sarah did not disappoint. Springs Calling is an urban crime fantasy with tons of twists and turns that keep you on edge. After losing her mother to a murder that everyone pretended did not happen, Ezri Trenton vowed to solve the murder herself. Now as a Boston rookie detective she is finally has the resources to do it. Solving her mothers murder is not easy especially when Sarah is hiding that she is a Witch and if she doesn’t already have enough on her plate, she is trying to solve a string of murder which seem to be related to a prophecy that just so happens to declare Ezri as the Savior. After reading the synopsis I was really looking forward to reading this book. I am not sure if I hyped it up so much that I let myself down but I found the book to be a bit blasé. The details were not impressively laid out and the storyline didn’t draw me into the story. That said the characters were good but needed fleshed out and some of the background information seems to make little connection with the story. Ezri could be a lot more than she is and I have hopes that the second book will have all those amazing, unique details that bring a story to life. I can see how this could be a really magical, suspenseful and captivating series. I truly hope book two will bring this interesting story to life.

Spring’s Calling is one of the absolute BEST books I have read in the last couple years!! It is the perfect blend of relatable characters, action, & mystery! You can’t help wanting to be friends with the sassy female lead and root for her!! Not only is the story absolutely awesome, but the character development is a work of art. It is wonderfully written as well! I cannot recommend this book enough! Seriously, I have already ordered the next three!!

This is my first time reading this author and I really enjoyed it! The story flowed smoothly with the backstory interspersed at the right moments in the book. Ezri is a very angry, hurt person that has to move past her feelings of self-imposed isolation and allow others to help her fulfill her destiny. Past friends and family that she cut off come to her aid and show her grace in their assistance. I feel like the author did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life in my mind. I enjoyed the way they interacted and related to each other.
This book was a good, clean language, detective-fantasy book!

This is the final book in this series and wow what a series this has been. I have loved every second of it. If you love a story about vampires, humans, love and the war between them then this definately for you.
In this book we are at the stage of a full blown war between the humans and vampires. Rowena is fighting the battle of her life to try and bring peace to both sides of this war however things aren’t that easy and with some people not wanting peace it makes the job even more difficult.
Add to this the fight she is undergoing for her own life. After being infected she is fighting the process of turning into a pale (vampire) mainly because she doesn’t know how her love Vincenzo will take this news. Will he stand by her or will he turn away from her. Rowena is now in for the fight of her life. Will she succeed in doing the right thing or will corrupt people finally destroy the place that was supposed to be a haven for vampires and humans alike.

The book builds slowly towards the climax but then quickly races to the finish. This is the first book in the series and has set the pace for the rest of the books. While I am a huge fantasy lover I haven’t read very many urban fantasies before but this one is just simply amazing! This book combined all of my favorite things including crime, drama, magic, and more. The character development was simply amazing, the plot was so perfect that I was on the edge of my seat most the book. Ezri is a strong cop with the Boston police department and I loved following her magical journey through this story and I personally can’t wait to see what our author gives us next.

This is a new author for me but I love the genre so decided to give it a go. The beginning built a little slow for me but as I kept at it to see what came next the author delivered flawlessly. It is a slow build but understandable in order to fully understand the character and her abilities.
Ezri, a rookie detective, read undercover witch is pulled in on a case where she can smell that magic has been used in the crime. Could this be the beginning of the prophecy that has plagued her since birth? With the vernal equinox in the very near future, Ezri along with her partner Jacquie must work to solve the murders while Ezri keeps her magical abilities hidden from even her partner. Yet as the bodies pile up, it seems Ezri must turn to those friends and fellow witches that she abandoned decades ago after the death of her mother. Can Ezri tie up these murders with a nice little bow before she must face her own destiny in helping good overcome evil? Can she maintain the balance between her destiny and the life she chose or will she need to sacrifice one to complete the other?
This is definitely an interesting read with a new take on witches, magical abilities, and the fight in good vs. evil. Though a slow build if you can stick through it then it is quite an enjoyable read. I definitely plan to read the series so I can see what else happens for Ezri and the characters in this book.

This is the fifth book in the Vampire State series and unfortunately the last book in this intriguing series. Each book just gets better and better. Alexander does not give us a story about traditional vampires. No, his dark paranormal fantasy portrayal of them is unique and original. It is a thrilling dystopian series with a romantic twist. Being fast paced and full of action keeps you completely engaged. The plot and world building are multi layered and complex and steeped in politics. The dynamics shift in this book as we see Rowena keeping a dark secret as she teeters on the edge of darkness that may just destroy her, her humanity and everything they have fought for.

Ezri Trenton is a young woman, she is a Detective with the local law enforcement, but she is also a witch, but she has to keep these two sides of herself separate, no matter how much she wishes it could be different, however, she hasn’t had the easiest start to life, when she walked into her house, saw her murdered mother on the floor in front of her and at the time it was just too much for her to bear, now she uses it to fuel her career. Meanwhile, in the background there are the undercurrents of another facet to her magical life, this is the fact that she is destined to take part in a prophecy on the Vernal Equinox, but the when are where are vague and so she just has to build herself up so that she can be ready when the time comes.
Fast forward to today and she has just been assigned a new partner, a mundane, or person without magic and they pretty much immediately get a call out to a homicide, however, this isn’t any homicide, it reeks of magic and dark magic at that, but she has to keep the information to herself because of the secrecy surrounding her life at all times. As the investigation intensifies and more victims are found, Ezri knows that mundane police work isn’t going to cut it and is finding it more and more difficult not to use her magical skills in front of her partner, or how to explain when she has to and appears just to zone out from time to time.
While all of this is going on, the past comes calling as Ezri tries to solver her mothers murder while working though the evidence which is pointing the finger to the darkest of dark magic, she is also quickly coming to terms with the fact that it is this Equinox which the prophecy was talking about and she only has a few days to stop it. Will Ezri be able to solve both cases in time, or will time run out before she has the chance? This is a fast paced and addictive urban fantasy chock full of spells, action and adventure as Ezri races against time while dealing with past and present in one big jumble of emotions, revelations and magic.

This author does not disappoint, yall. His attention to detail makes you feel like you’re living in the Sanguina with the characters. I loved this book, and I’m going to have to re-binge the series, because holy smokes, these books are that good. The ending is so peaceful and beautiful. Definitely recommend!!

This was a story that was well worth a read! I do love vampire stories, and I love ones that come from authors that create a world that is beyond my imagination. That is exactly what this author created and did. I was mesmerized and blown away through out my reading, freaking amazing good read!
Vampires and humans are thrown together really in a epic finale in this book. I honestly did not expect so many twists and turns that I was shown and experienced. It was a remarkable book, and a lot happens, some good, and some bad, and well I need not say more. I was on the edge of my seat through out my reading, I will say some parts I was caught off guard, the ending is for sure something that shocked me and I honestly did not see coming. Which made this book more of what it was, and was fantastic in that sense! I really loved how a action could define something through out this book, it was such a good read and I highly enjoyed it. I am very glad I got to enjoy this book for all it was! I truly loved the writing!

When I sat down to read this book, I couldn’t stop. I read the entire thing in 2 hours, completely captivated by Ezri’s story. Her suffocating grief, even as she was a true warrior focused on justice, was heartbreaking. Watching the pieces come together in the mix between remembering the past, learning more about the truth of the past and knowing what the future needed to bring was almost cinematic in its execution. The relationships shown were so genuine and truly made me want to know her. This book truly was a beautiful story that kept me completely engrossed from start to finish and I can’t wait to see what comes next for Ezri and the people around her.

I really liked this book a lot! It gave me some “Charmed” vibes with a cop with supernatural powers due to her being a witch and the Savior that will be faced with an upcoming event in which she has to save the world. I liked the characters and was quickly invested in their journeys. I really enjoyed the main character Ezri’s backstory and thought that this was a unique take on a character that is a witch since there was no silly family or familiar causing drama or interference. I would have given this 5 stars, but I thought the ending was rushed and a few of the explanations didn’t seem to fit, which made me sad since I absolutely loved the first 90% of the book. Looking forward to future books in this series, however!

I enjoyed this story. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up by him. I enjoyed his writing style as well as his attention to details that give his stories a realistic feel. I enjoy being pulled into his stories from the start and kept engaged to the end. This book is no different. It is the fifth and final book in this series. I highly suggest reading the previous books in this series to help your enhancement of this series. The characters are relatable, strong, creative and supportive to each other. They have great world building and had me coming back for more. A story of vampires, humans and a face of a final test. You don’t want to miss what happens in this book. This is fast paced and easy to read. An entertaining story where one person could make all the difference. I enjoyed the growth of the characters and the plot throughout. There are some twists and turns that I didn’t see coming and neither will you. This is a great story by a great author that I highly recommend.

The final book of the series, Rowena is fighting for her life. Sanguina is crumbling around her. Her Emperor has died. She is fighting an infection that is turning her into a Pale. She hasn’t told Vincenzo about this. She risks losing him. She is battling conspiracy theories. Life has basically turned to crap. Can she save Sanguina? Can she right the wrongs? I found the story pretty interesting. I came into the series at book 5 so I did miss a bit of the back story. I will suggest you start at the beginning of the series. I will going back and reading from book 1. Rowena is pretty badass. Though she keeps secrets, she’s trying to protect her friends and her people. She faces some uphill battle. I am glad that she has Vincenzo by her side for most of this. She has some very hard decisions. I found it well-written. The use of the emperor’s in the different eras was epic. This gave a classic feel to a modern world. It was very dytopian because it was out of place but oddly, not. The characters felt very classic also with the mixture of modern, such as the guy yelling at Rowena as he came into the studio. The ending gave it a beautiful closure. Oddly enough, it fit within the story. This story would reach out to lovers of several types of stories. I recommend it to mystery lovers and fantasy/scifi lovers.

This book starts out with an excellent example as to why she has this job and just how terrifyingly close the worlds are becoming. Also, many questions about Dahlia are answered in this nonstop story.
I finished this in one sitting and CANNOT wait for the next.
