This is a wonderful story of a young woman trapped by society’s standards; yet, she decides for herself to stand up and make things happen. Her friend, Sebastian, who has loved her for years, goes with her on a venture to find the Wish-Eater book. This book brings bad and good things. They go through many misadventures together. There is so much that happens but I can’t share it. You are just going to have to read this story. It reads almost like a fable. An enjoyable fable. The characters are relatable. There is your mish mosh of crazy, cranky, lovable and many more. The emotions will be felt in this story also as Elodie goes through different seasons of her life. I enjoyed the plot of the story. It felt a little fairytailish. I highly recommend it.
This was a beautifully written book wrapping up this incredible series. The author should be very proud of this body of work.
The main character, Rowena, is a bad-ass and continues to embark on quite an adventure in book number five (5). She has a dilemma that will impact the empire and its future, as well as her own. Heavy is the burden of those who have power and responsibility.
I’m a huge fan of anything Paranormal/Supernatural, especially the vampire world, so this series was definitely a great fit for me but I do not think you need to be a fan of this genre to appreciate the brilliance created by this author.
I feel this book is binge-worthy, as is this series due to the intelligent way it was written. Between the impeccable world building and thriving character arcs, the ending plot design delivers a satisfying conclusion to finalize the completed series.
The gorgeous book cover caught my eye so had I not known of this series prior to reading this book, I would have been intrigued from the get go.
This was a quick read and kept my attention from start to finish. I am so thankful to have had the pleasure to read this series. I cannot wait to find another title from this author so I can launch into another breathtaking reading journey.

This Night Has Ended is the fifth and final instalment in the Vampire State series by Alexander Charalambides. This series has been one heck of an adventure, that’s for sure. From the first book, and every new instalment since, each addition to the series just got better and better- keeping me hooked and anticipating what would happen next. As I have mentioned before, this series takes vampire lore and really shakes it up- producing a very original and intriguing vampire tale. We have learned so much and gone through so much with Rowena over the course of the series, but there is no resting just yet. Rowena’s biggest challenge lies ahead, and she will need to dig deep if she is to endure. Her secret is weighing heavily on her shoulders, as does her sense of responsibility. She is determined to see things through, no matter the cost or consequence. What happens made for an exciting read. There is so much going on, and the story took me on quite an unexpected journey. There were moments where the tension was quite palpable. So needless to say that I read most of the story with bated breath. This final instalment was so much more than I had anticipated. With vampires, action, adventure, danger, drama, surprising developments, politics, challenges, secrets, the paranormal, romance, discord, tension, and a bit of a dark dystopian feel- which made for quite an exciting read. I am impressed with the way Mr. Charalambides ended his series, if not a little sad to see it all come to the end. Now I will be eagerly waiting to see what he has in store for us next. If you’re looking for a realistic-fantasy world building trilogy this is the series for you. This book starts out a little slow but quickly pulls you in with its dynamic and diverse cast of characters. What most surprised me with this story is how human the characters were written. It was rewarding to watch the characters struggle with their place and positions they all have. Seeing the representation of Ruarnon as a Non-binary was amazing. This isn’t my first book containing an LGBTQ+ character but is my first non-binary and it was awesome seeing things from their perspective. I’ll be anxiously awaiting the next book on the trilogy.

Ruarnon is the heir of Tarlah, they have lessons in combat, the history of their country and their people, as well as learning how to run the kingdom they will one day inherit, all the while trying to impress the current King, who also happens to be their father who believes that because they are non-binary, they have to work harder than most. When they are not training or studying, they are spending time with their family and close friends, that is until one day the reality of their position comes crashing around them when assassination attempts are foiled and their parents are abducted in the middle of the night.
As they are reeling from the recent events, Ruarnon has to take control of their kingdom and make some tough decisions, they are not sure who to trust within their Royal Council and news comes in that their neighbouring Kingdom is rekindling their brutal nature and renewing their efforts to expand into Tarlah. Meanwhile Linh is on a school trip in Australia when suddenly the environment around her changes from somewhere she knows very well to somewhere completely strange and alien, however, when she tries to return the way she came, she realises that she is stuck in a foreign land fortunately is rescued by a boat who takes her to someone who they believe can help her. This is a lot to take in for Linh and her anxiety tries to get the best of her, however, when she learns that there is an option of a race who live in lands far to the north who may have the knowledge she needs to return home, she will take a risk and journey there.
As Linh starts the journey into an uncertain future and to a destination where she is desperately hoping to get the information she needs, a stop is made at a small island for provisions, however, when she is rushed back to their transport, she sees something which terrifies her, there are monsters attacking the islanders and those who are travelling with her and they do not differentiate between age, gender or race, anything that moves is a target for them and they are ruthless. Unknown to Ruarnon, his Kingdom is in more danger than just the expansionist neighbours, so when Linh arrives with the reinforcements he has requested and she tells him of what she has seen on her travels, the reality sets in, but will they be able to make the decisions they need to in order to keep Tarlah safe, no matter what deals they have to make with their enemies in order to do it?
This is a fantasy adventure which is action packed throughout as you see the devastating affects of rivalry, war and monsters as the main characters race against the clock to save as many of those around them by making decisions based on questionable truths brought by unreliable spies which will keep you on your toes throughout and not wanting to put the book down until you find out how it ends.

Dahlia always finds trouble, or it finds her. It doesn’t really matter because there it is. Dahlia is fighting the apocalypse. I have read this series from the beginning and also listened to it on audiobook. Audiobook has made it come to life. Dahlia is a sassy, saucy character that you can feel when you listen to the audio. The narrator knows just how to read the story. It was full of life, action and excitement, with a dash of romance. What a terrific series that I’ll miss. I think everyone should listen to this series.

This book is a brilliant conclusion to an exiting series. Each book in this series has got better and better and I always couldn’t wait to read the next. This book is just as good as those before it. It is exciting, fast paced and I found myself really engaging with the story. It is one of those books i seemed to read so fast while also trying to savour it, knowing it was the last one. I thought the author really did the series justice with this book. It is such a fantastic story and I enjoy each and every page of it.

This is a great YA book for anyone who likes magic and enjoyed Just Add Magic on Amazon Prime Video. This series has a great cast of characters. Cat is a middle school girl whose family never cooks or bakes, though she’s not sure why. After getting put into a Culinary class in school, Cat is told why and a family secret is revealed. For generations, Cat’s family (including her best friend Robyn who is her neighbor as well as the same age, and therefore the same grade) has been able to bake their emotions into their products. If you feel a certain way while baking, it gets added to the batter as if it were another ingredient. When someone eats the item, they feel the emotion. Nobody in the family is sure why this happens. Cat learns after a disastrous day of baking and sharing that you have to be careful what you wish for and what you bake into your treats.

My goodness are you looking for a book that starts on a bang and never slows down? then this is the book for you. Story line involving teens needing to navigate politics danger and finding a place in their world this is full of great characters that are very well done What really shines in this book is the non-bianary character Ruarnon and the use of correct pronouns by the author, and development of this character so the reader has understanding of who this character is as they take on unexpected early rise to the throne and has to learn to work inside a world of confusing politics, those who may have poor intentions, deception, danger, intrigue and mystery Definitely a book you need to pay attention to or you can easily get lost there is so much going on but it’s worth it! 4.5/5

Manipulator’s War is the first book in the Ruarnon Trilogy, an exciting fantasy series, aimed at teen and young adult readers. The story echoes The Chronicles of Narnia, bringing a group of teenagers on a school trip into a fantasy world where they are destined to play an important role. They have to work out how to survive, and fulfil their fated roles so they can return home. It’s fun seeing how the group dynamics and relationships change throughout the book as they get to know each other and find their places in an unfamiliar world. I was drawn to this book by the nonbinary main character, Ruarnon. It’s great to see queer characters in fantasy! As a nonbinary reader, it helps me feel like I could have a place in the fantasy world and I’m sure it helps other readers be more understanding and accepting (and learn how to use they/them pronouns!). This book gets five stars from me, and I’m looking forward to the sequel coming out! I would recommend this to teenagers who’ve enjoyed fantasy series like the Tortall books and are looking for something modern and captivating.

Oh my bleeping goodness, what an amazing conclusion to this kickass series!! As always, Dahlia finds herself rushing to save the good guys with the help of her ragtag team. This story is so action-packed it will absolutely keep you glued to the pages and reading all night! More challenges face our heroine as she fights to keep her own dragon in check while defending her city from the ever-growing Blight & the ancient dragon queen we all love to hate! I hate to see this series end but what an explosive, fantastic way to do it!! This author is OFFICIALLY in my top 5!!
The Epic Conclusion to a Fantastic Series! Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is not my favorite book in the series but I still loved it. A series that was definitely different to say the least. I was skeptical about starting this series, but I don’t regret it. Now I’m sad I’m on the 5th and final book. I guess it’s time to start all over again! To get reinvigorated all over again, maybe even coming across something I missed before. Oren has started to wreak havoc on all worlds. Dahlia and her few friends battle officially with him. Will they succeed? Oren seems to easily over power them. Our heroine has also come full circle from book 1. The 1st rip I’m the veil she repaired, was the one from the Chandler house. Now just a million more to go… lol Naalish has taken Alex Creed prisoner. Dahlia has to save him. Will she succeed? So many questions with plenty of answers but you need to read to find out! You need to read all 5 books. It’s definitely worth the time! Now that they sadly ended, it’s time to start over. What do you say will you join this journey over again with me?
Our favorite author is back with a new installment and it’s absolutely perfect! Once again we are provided a story and plot with amazing characters, drama, action, and so much more that you won’t want to put it down. While this is the last installment in this series I will personally be looking for more from this author. The story flows smoothly, the characters all have their own uniqueness, and the story just has so much originality that I simply couldn’t put it down. So if your looking for a great new series or even just a new book make sure and pick this one up today.
Dahlia is trying to keep the apocalypse from happening. Amidst betrayals, loss and things unforeseen, she is trying to stem the tide of the Blight as it overtakes different worlds through the exits. She is slowly losing the battle as she tries to find the answers as to how to fix it all. Will she be able to find the answers in time? Can she save her friends that have become her family in time?
This is the last book in this series. I have thoroughly enjoyed this series. Yes, it has dragon shifters, and she is a red head, but that is just one reason why I liked it. The story describes a woman who struggles with opening herself up to other because she was raised not to. She fights against it and what she finds is infinitely more than she could have thought possible. Her friends see her in ways that she can’t, and they support her, and encourage her. I enjoyed each of her friends and how they challenged her to change and to love.
Sad to say good-bye to Dahlia Nite, but happy to have read her story.
This was the last book of the Nite Fire series and it was AMAZING! I loved the whole series but this one was by far my favorite.
The book starts with Dahlia fighting supernatural creatures in the sentinel. The start of the end is here. Everything that Dahlia is fighting to avoid finally came. She had run out of time. Now Dahlia is on damage control. With half of her team missing, she is trying to protect the humans while still trying to figure out how to close the exits.
Oren has made things much more difficult for everyone by destroying the police force and bringing his own force into the mix. Dahlia, Casey and the balaur have a lot to do with very little time left to do.
I highly suggest you read this series! The author is now one of my favorites. Everything I have read by them has captured my interest from start to finish.

This is an incredible series and easily one of my favourites. Right from the moment I started reading Book one I knew I was in for such a ride. I love Dahlia. She is such an amazing character – strong and fiesta and complex and interesting. The supporting characters are all brilliant as well – it became so I couldn’t wait to read more about them as well. These books are fast paced and exciting. I love the way the stories are all unique but interconnecting. This book was such a great ending to the series, even if I’m not quite ready for it to be over yet. This author has firmly become one of my favourites and I cannot wait to see what she produces next.

Okay, first and foremost, I have to say thank you for this book. In all honesty, while there are some books that have queer representation, and more are coming, it’s rare that there are characters that are like me. Watching this non-binary human take on their challenges was so inspiring and kept me completely hooked. The world this author built was so well illustrated that I wanted to see it, even in the midst of the turmoil. Ruarnon’s relationships with the people around them were so well written and their growth kept me cheering them on, and wishing I could know them too. I look forward to reading more of their story!

This is the final book in the series, and I have eaten up every single one. Dahlia has remained true to her core self, but without giving in spoilers away has also evolved into something quite new. Her supporting roles and friends along the way have developed, as well as the world(s) around her. This is such a unique story line, and is such an easy decision to pick up and read. You definitely won’t regret it.
I do have to say even the villains/anti-heroes I find myself empathizing with, or at least seeing from their perspective. This is such a nice wrap up to an enthralling fantasy series I know without a doubt I will be reading again. It was also, just a little bit of a shock I was not expecting!!! While Dahlia isn’t the most lovable character, she certainly is inspiring, strong, and extremely loyal. I haven’t met a character or being quite like her yet, and it was such a pleasure to hear her story. Love, love, love this series.

The conflict with Ruarnon and trying to figure out how to deal with everything from parents getting abducted, and trying to rule, this book kept me guessing at every turn. I love the way that Ruarnon and Tarlah were able to work together to figure things out and to solve the way they needed to work with everyone to try and make things work out. I highly recommend this book.

Here we are at book 5, the end of the series. Dahlia is one of my favorite characters. She is part dragon but she is also strong, brave and resilient. The apocalypse has finally come and the poo has hit fan. She is trying to save the world. She has so many things going wrong all at once that would make most people collapse. Old enemies return while she is trying to find her missing team. This author has again written a terrific book. A fantastic finish to the series. There is lots of action from the beginning to pull you in and keep you going all the way to the end of story. She writes in such away that the details make it easy to visualize this. The plot continues to flow smooth. There is no choppiness to the story. It flows well throughout. The characters each have their own unique personalities. I love the fact that the snark is in Dahlia. She gives as good as she gets. Her team does as well. This is one of the best fantasy series I have read. I’m sad to see ti done but I will be reading more of her books in the future.

I have been a fan of this series since book one, and this installment is no different! I found the suspense and the action multiplied highly in this one! Delia is a wonderful character, I really felt this one she had to fight for what she holds dear as well as her inner darkness, ended up really loving her more!
Delia has always been a character that I have been strongly drawn to. She is tough, but yet cares dearly about those around her. I found you really got to feel her more in this book. I know this is the end of an amazing series, though it saddens me, it is bitter sweet. I loved how things with Delia and her well. inner demon became the matter of the hour. A lot was at stake in this book, and it was up to our Delia to stop it as well as control it. I wasn’t sure what to expect as I was creeping up on the end! I loved the action and the suspense in this one! Could not put this one down at all! Simply loved the series finale!
Such an amazing series, and I know all good things must come to an end. I did not want this one to though. I wanted to cont8nue with Delia and her adventures! Amazing series that I truly highly recommend if you have not already had the pleasure of doing so! Not one to be passed up! A must read!

Very fast pace book! I will admit, sometimes it took some concentration to follow. I loved the non-binary representation. Right from the prologue, it is clear that someone or something is working against the MC and that there is more to the issue than meets the eye. The book did not slow down from there. Ruarnon was pushed to lead earlier than they were expecting and it was great to see how their character not only overcomes adversity, but navigates with less than trust worthy people in their midst. Initially, Lihn’s storyline felt totally unrelated, but they blend together nicely. If you are looking for a fantasy book with non-binary rep, and non stop action from the start, give this one a try! I will definitely be looking out for the next!

If you enjoy books that include mystery, adventure, courage building, magical plots, this book is for you.
Ruarnon is the first non-binary character that I’ve ever come across and I love to see them building their character throughout the story. I think this book was a wonderful representation of a non-binary person.
I thoroughly enjoyed the interactions between Linh, Tony & friends. It felt like they were very young and immature but grew a bit stronger on their adventure together.
The book had a lot of interesting twists and turns that initially confused me, but I found over time that I became more comfortable with the overall format of the story.
The story was fantastically written and kept my attention from page one. I cannot wait to continue reading this series.

I really enjoyed this young adult fantasy adventure. The author did an amazing job of building the scenes and making the story gripping and fast paced. The characters are really well written and work well together. This is a story full of mystery and betrayal. There is a constant figure for survival and trying to avoid the people who want to harm you. You don’t know who to trust. The part I enjoyed was when the young girl Linh and Ruarnon even though they are from completely different places they now have to work together if they are to succeed and for Linh to return home. It was a really enjoyable.story and I can’t wait to see how it will progress

If you are a YA fantasy reader, then please try this book. It did take me a minute to get into it due to trying to get the timeline right. Ruarnon is a nonbinary and I love how it was portrayed in the book. Their kingdom gives them a hard time, but they work on it through every step. Right now, they have to work on a kingdom to be theirs while trying to save their lives as well. Through all the paths, it was a great book.
