Nite Fire: Exit Strategy is the fifth and final book in this series. This is a Paranormal/Urban Fantasy that I truly enjoyed reading. I’m a huge fan of this author and her style of writing , attention to detail along with amazing characters make for awesome stories. I’m a little bummed that this is the last book in this series, but I’m excited to see what this author brings us next. I highly recommend reading this series in order if you haven’t already started as each book builds off the last one. This series is definitely going on my list of re-reads. I will say this plan on reading this in one sitting because once you start you won’t want to stop till the end. Dahlia’s back and in a race against time while fighting to hold back the dragon within that’s been dying to come out. So I highly recommend reading this fast paced story to find out what happens next. As always I look forward to reading more from this Author .
The author continues the tale of Cat and her discovery of the family secret. This time the family is off to Arizona to visit the matriarch, Grandma Ginny, known to most as GG. GG is the daughter of the original baker in the family, Evie. GG holds the answers to all the questions Cat and Robyn have been asking. However, GG lives with Jojo, Cat’s mother’s sister. Cat’s mom, Bridget, and Jojo had a disagreement 15 years ago and have not spoken since. Getting the answers that Cat needs might not be as easy as pie.
Once in Arizona, Cat is faced with many challenges, getting up at 5 to bake with GG, distance from Tobey, GG’s unwillingness to provide answers, a new mystery man, and a Bake-Off for a huge restaurant contract!! While Cat and the family figure out the perfect recipe for the bake-off, Cat explores the town and her heritage through a scavenger hunt meant to provide Cat with clues to the answers that GG will provide once Cat completes the hunt. Hilarity ensues.
This continuation provides answers to some questions but leaves new ones!! Looking forward to the next book in the series! A great read for all ages.

Book Details Bake Off (Bake Believe Series Book 2) by Cori Cooper. This was such a fun read. Its the 2nd book in the Bake Believe series and I suggest reading the 1st one to get to know the characters first. This is a fun, imaginative, young adult fantasy read. Its the story of Cat Anderson who loves to bake and in the last book we found out when Cat bakes she has a gift. During this addition Cat’s family travel for the Thanksgiving holiday and end up in the middle of a bake off. Of course there are a few mishaps with the baking but its all in fun. Lots of laughs and a little bit of romance thrown in. Great teenage read!

This is book two in the series about Cat Anderson and her magical baking for YA, and it was nice being back with Cat. Cat is a very likeable and realistic teenager who not only has the usual ‘growing up’ issues, but she has also discovered that, ‘something’ happens when she bakes, something magical. In this story Cat wants to learn more about her ‘gift’, as now she knows what her baking can do but not why or how. To find the answers Cat and her family go on a road trip to the family bakery in Arizona, for Thanksgiving. However, instead of finding the answers to all her questions, Cat finds herself under suspicion and in the middle of a bakery showdown. Cat and Robyn soon learn that reckless baking, emotions and magic is a recipe for disaster. This is a fun and lighthearted read with a quirky and unique storyline, and a great main character in Cat. I was hooked from page one, and I felt engaged with the characters and immersed in the story due to the descriptive narrative. An enjoyable read for both YA and adults alike.

This is book number two is this series and was just as much fun as the first one. I am truly in love with these characters and their story. Once again, there are some amazing “family” bakery recipes included in this book that I intend to make some time this year. I love how the author took this story on the road for some laughs, drama, and lots of baking. I couldn’t put this book down and I highly recommend you read it. This is even a phenomenal story to share with the teenage girls in your life because it is so wholesome. I recommend reading the books in order, so you know the story and how this family baking business works on magic to succeed.

I originally started the series listening on Audiobook. I fell in love with audiobooks because of the first book. I knew I had to read book 2 once it was out. This is a great kids book and I think it will show kids the fun of reading, and just the fun of being a kid/teenager. A lot of relatable things happen, and I can myself remember being a teenage girl with hormones and angst. Cat and Robyn are a lot of fun and as Cat explores this new gift more we see her developing into a whole new girl. They of course have hijinks, crushes, drama, and of course delicious food as they navigate these newly teenage years.

This was such a fun read!! Cat’s going into the 8th grade and it’s the last day before summer vacay ends. She’s at the pool with her best friend and cousin, Robyn. They smell something so deliciously yummy that they can hardly stand it. Then this super cute boy walks by with a pretzel. You know the kind…dripping in butter with those little flakes of salt on it? I loved this book from start to finish!! I love the series I mentioned previously but this book is pretty awesome too! This author has a great way of keeping even a non-baker like myself entertained. I mean, I love to bake and cook but my family doesn’t appreciate my northern cooking style in their southern home. 🙂 My favorite part of this book is the recipes at the end of each chapter. Along with all the helpful hints and tons of humor!! What fun is baking if it’s not fun??

In Bake Off, we continue to read the story of Cat, Robyn, and their family. This book starts off with a trip to Arizona to Spend some time with GG and Josey to learn more about this weird family stuff. Cat and Robyn have had some adventures and now they are coming of age to learn more about why Cat’s mom won’t bake and why Robyn’s mom loves it!
GG and Josey are ready for the town Bake Off. There are several bakeries in town and there is a restaurant wanting to partner with one of them. How can the family restaurant stand out amongst the others? Cat finally enjoys waking up at 5 am to bake with her GG and she’s loving what she’s learning but what sets their bakery apart? And what in the world is up with Josey and the delivery guy?
This story gives you more background from Evie, the family baking matriarch. Cat and Robyn have some fun adventures in baking during this story as well. I found it as equally enjoyable as book 1 in this series.
I highly recommend this to those who love the show “Just Add Magic” as it follows a similar story line. Like Book 1, this one also includes recipes with a lot of humor at the end of each chapter!

Magical baking Book two in the Bake Believe trilogy – Cat and Robyn are up to more crazy mischief. Their magical baking is becoming stronger and family secrets are being uncovered. The story is a fun read with twists and magical mayhem that I have come to expect from this author. The story takes off from book 1, so it does help to read that first. This is aimed at anyone from early teens and up that loves magic and baking. More great recipes in this book too. Bring on book 3.

This was a good follow-up and second book in this series. This was a fun sequel to Bake Believe. Again, loved the recipes after each chapter. The relationship of the grandmother with the granddaughters was really special and something I can connect with. This is another book I would definitely recommend for middle school age/pre-teen. I look forward to book three to see where the story goes.

I truly enjoyed reading this book its got all the ingredients to make a quirky and fun story mixed with a bit of drama, magic and adventure. I do recommend reading the first book if you haven’t already as this book follows it. This author knocked it out of the park with this one. Bake Off is the second book in the Bake Believe Trilogy by Cori Cooper. This follows on from Book One, so I suggest reading “Bake Believe” before starting this book. Non-Binary representation in a fantasy story that doesn’t feel like it’s forced. It’s rare to find that so major kudos to Elise Carlson.
Fans of Narnia will enjoy this fast paced story that shows the power of strength & community. A story that is full of action, betrayal, survival of life, abductions and you don’t want to miss the assassins. This is a fast paced, engaging story that was hard to put down. The plot had great growth which made the story easy to read as well as entertaining.
I’m looking forward to the sequel coming out! I would recommend this to teenagers and even adults like myself who have always hoped for a great representation of us in print.

This is the first book in this exciting new fantasy series. It is full of danger, tension, action and adventure. The story premise is interesting. There are a lot of unique characters with different powers and a lot of information was given for their back stories. Unfortunately, it felt a bit too bogged down with that information and I had to back track and reread bits to try to keep it straight in my mind. It was set in the beautiful country of Ireland which made it easy to imagine.
The Unhidden are now faced with not only dealing with a world in war and chaos but they struggle having to learn what they have become and their new abilities and powers.

I enjoyed this children’s chapter book. This is the second book in this series by this author. This is a great young adult story that brings baking and magic together and what happens when you. Cat and Robyn are about to find out what happens when you mix the two. I enjoyed their characters and how they brought the story to life. They are supportive and relatable. They have great growth throughout and kept the story engaging. This is a great book for any child that loves to read and would certainly enjoy the characters. I highly recommend this book.

This is a wonderful follow to the first book. It was lovely to pick back uo with these characters and their stories. It was so easy to slip right back in as though you had never stopped reading about them. The author has done another great job of creating a fun and exciting story that is well matched to its audience. The pace of the book was perfect and certainly held my attention. This is a well written book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I really enjoyed this read. It was a fun filled adventure all about a young girls struggled to not only cope with the usual teenage problems and feelings but the added stress of having a gift that she doesn’t know how to control. Cat loves to bake and she has found that she had a special gift. She bakes with emotion and that passes on to the people eating the items. The problem.is she has no control over it which is causing a problem. When they go to visit her family she begins a journey of discovery. Learning about her families history, learning to control her gift and handling the challenges of romance as a teenager makes this story one that twists and turns but keeps you hooked.
I really liked how at the end of each chapter there is a recipe which I thought was a nice touch and would encourage more people to have a go at baking

WOW! I’m speechless, at first I couldn’t really get into the story but not long into the book I was hooked and invested. LUKAS! I did not see that coming from him, and I couldn’t read fast enough to see what would become of Rowena and Vincenzo. The ending had me a little upset, of course it’s only because it wasn’t the ending I wanted, but it was perfect anyways. I feel like there could be and might be more of an adventure for Rowena to come and I look forward to seeing if this author will expand more. This is not your average vampire story, and that is what makes it all the more perfect. While there was so much evil against them to take over the position of emperor with no good intentions, Rowena, Vincenzo and their friends were looking to make their world peaceful, equal and kind. Definite recommendation!

Taming of the Few is the first book in the Guardians of Phae series by Rowan Dillon (Christy Nicholas). The author has woven a fantastic world in which to set this creative story. It is an urban fantasy with tension, drama, ‘superheros’, adventure, danger, banter, a mysteriousness, and more. While I loved the premise of this new book/series, as well as some of the details and developments- I felt that the story did ‘lag’ in places, and at times got really bogged down by character introductions and ‘information dumps’. There are quite a lot of characters who get introduced- which was a lot to keep track of times. Being the first book in the series, I guess the author was trying to lay the ‘foundations’ to the rest of the series here in the first book- so I am hoping that the rest of the series will flow better and not be weighed down by so many characters and infodumps, as I really am intrigued to see where we go from here. Love the cover!

When I first saw this book I was intrigued. It pulled me in with its pretty Cover and interesting Synopsis and the authors writing was really good so i couldnt put it down. This was a great read! It was enthralling, well written, and also difficult to read in some spots, in regard to prejudices. I was very surprised going into this one, because I honestly just didn’t expect it to be this good. I haven’t read anything from this author before so I wasn’t sure what to expect but this sure wasn’t it. I’m VERY appreciative of the pronunciation guide in this book, as some of the words are extremely difficult to pronounce. But overall this was an amazing read and I can’t wait for the sequel!

This is the first book I have read by this author so I came into it not knowing what to expect! Overall, this is a pretty good book but definitely easy to lose the storyline at times because there are so many characters with differing abilities!
We start out meeting Anna who has just been relieved of her teaching position and attacked by an angry mob all because of her growing abilities which she had no control over. After being attacked by an angry mob she flees to Ireland which is touted as a safe haven for the unhidden. There we meet Max who is also an unhidden, war veteran. As the unhidden flock to Ireland they are catalogs based on the unhidden ability they possess. Some have strong abilities like controlling water or air while others are more mundane like changing eye color. While attempting to learn the extent of their abilities the Phae are threatened by an extremist group determined to eliminate the unhidden from the world. From just learning a little more about their abilities now Anna and Max and a team of 4 other unhidden must come together to protect the one place that has given them sanctuary. Can their team of untrained unhidden people defend a country where sanctuary is given? Or will it be too much for these newbies and fall to the extremists?
This book takes an immense amount of concentration to keep all the characters straight along with their abilities. This book does not lack in action though and it does pull you in from the start. It was a well thought out book and the author does a beautiful job describing the scene and players so your mind can draw the image in your head. If you like fantasy this is definitely a good read and I look forward to diving into the second book to continue my discovery of the unhidden and their abilities!

I was excited to pick up this story after hearing friends rave about it. And honestly, I’m so glad that I did. It was a thrilling fantasy with everything you can possibly imagine in between. The author did a fantastic job with her world descriptions. She had me believing I was there. I loved the history that she delved into. I thought it really brought the story to life. I loved all the characters she has in the book. I’m always a fan of a large diverse cast of characters that must work and support one another. This was perfect. I can’t wait to pick up the second book in this series. I highly recommend that you read this story.

Most of the unhidden have Irish heritage and would up there to be safe and protected. That’s where the PHAE come in. They try and help train them with their gifts. The people they highlight in this series to help overcome the problems ahead. It was a really good read and can’t wait to continue on!

What an exciting story. As soon as I started reading this book I found myself engaging with the storyline. It caught my attention straight away and just didn’t seem to let up. I loved both the story and the characters in this one. Each added to the other and the way the author worked them both was amazing. As the start of a new series I think the author has done well to create a strong impression. I am already looking forward to Book 2.

Humanity is seeing its next evolution, the Unhidden, it all started when the magnetic poles of the Earth shifted and people discovered new abilities and power flowing through their veins, for some it physically showed but for others it didn’t, but wherever there are differences, there are those who are afraid of it and those who can accept it. As those who experience these changes try and manage them, they struggle to maintain a normal life, an extremist group are growing in popularity with their demands pertaining to the Unhidden and the supposed danger which they present to the rest of humanity, unfortunately, their views are growing in popularity.
Anna Taylor is a swim coach at a local college in the USA, but she is filled with anxiety that someone will see the scales which are starting to develop on her body, one day all her fears come to pass when a student sees her in the pool and reports her to the principal, who terminates her employment, shortly after this, she is ousted from her home by an angry mob, this sends her anxiety to a whole new level until someone steps in to help her. Maximillian Hurley is a Vietnam veteran who lives alone in the Australian Outback with his plane and a smattering of tourists who he flies around giving tours to during the day and his constant companion of a bottle of hard liquor to drink his demons away on a night, that is until a mysterious fire takes it all away from him and someone else steps in with a new direction for his life and his talents.
They have both been recruited by PHAE, the agents who approached them offer them a chance to relocate to Ireland and have the opportunity to help others like them by offering training in the use and development of their talents, so they go to a centre where they meet the rest of their group, however, they are called into action much earlier than planned and as they are separated, Anna and Max team up in Cork and although they tried to disrupt the machinations of the anti-Unhidden group, a bomb shatters the city and they end up trying to save as many as they can while battling their own PTSD and anxiety in the process.
Can Anna and Max overcome their fears and use their powers with the rest of the group to stop their xenophobic opposition, or will it all become too much and they buckle under the pressure? This is an urban fantasy which is full of action and adventure, as individuals come to terms with the changes in their lives while fighting for them at the same time and they will have you fighting right alongside them throughout as you are sucked into this world which is not far afield of life right now.

The story started off great! It’s very interesting learning about the various people and their gifts. But as the story moved along I found myself losing interest in the characters and the story. History and political/religious themes seemed to take over as people seemed to take a backseat. While I loved all the details of the characters I really only felt connected to or cared about Max, Anna and Brendan plus Róisín. They got the most page time and I was always anxious to get back to them to see how they were doing. I appreciate the author not inundating us with names and characters right off the bat. Being too slow to introduce can be an issue too.

As people around the world start discovering they have extra abilities, one place has designated a space for them to seek refuge from growing tensions among those who don’t possess such abilities. Even though some are as minor as the ability to change their eye color, anyone discovered with such abilities is beginning to find themselves ostracized from their peers, coworkers, and even families. PHAE is a safe haven for those who have abilities, and the reader is introduced to characters from around the world with unhidden talents as they arrive at PHAE headquarters in Ireland.
Filled with lore from different cultures, this book takes the reader through a fantasy tale that doesn’t seem so far fetched, as PHAE starts to become the target of international organizations that want those with abilities to be registered and segregated, or worse. Even as those with abilities are still trying to figure out how and why they possess such talents, and the extent of their abilities, they must fight for survival against a myriad of attacks from those who would rather see them eradicated.
I loved the storytelling and the character development in this book and am looking forward to the next book in the series to see how everything unfolds and what other talents emerge.
