My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shattered Reality by C.A. King is the first book in the Summoned series. This is a brilliant retelling of an old classic story brought into more modern times. The author has done an amazing job of making the story her own while also keeping the same mythological feel about it.
The story is everything I have come to expect from this author – well written, exciting and completely engaging from the moment I started reading. The characters were really interesting to read about as well. They added to an already strong storyline.
C.A. King really has become one of my firm favourites and this book is just one example as to why. I would highly recommend this book and I cannot wait to see what is next!

Super Sorry
By C.A. King
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Super Sorry by C.A. King. It is a story that once I started reading, I found that I couldn’t put it down until the final page. I loved the character of Sarah Sorry. She is a teenage girl who wants to fit in with her peers. She finds this to be hard as she is experiencing changes to her body and her life. If that is not enough there is that talking beaver that is always hungry. What does the future hold for Sarah? Read this book to find out. Sarah is a character that I found myself caring about. I also enjoyed reading about the other characters that are introduced and interact with Sarah. There are comical moments that had me laughing out loud and others that had me empathizing with what Sarah is feeling and going through. The author has written a story that is exciting and entertaining. The storyline and characters come to life and I found them easy to identify with. Don’t miss out on an amazing tale that will have you hooked from the very beginning. I highly recommend reading it.

I love a good fantasy book and Feyden delivered with a great concept in these pages. It opens quickly and immediately leaves the reader guessing as to what is really going on with the female lead and how she might be connected to shifter, if at all. I really enjoyed this take on faeries and shifters. It is a very vivid world and one I will gladly visit again.

This is books 4, 5, and 6 so you have to make sure to read the first 3 for this to make sense. You see great growth out of Friday in this series. Of course, in this series, ‘normal’ is anything but normal in this case!’ Especially since Friday is part of a reality tv series for superheroes. Without giving anything away, the characters are well written, and the growth not only with Friday, but all the characters and the book as a whole as well! A great series for anyone to get hookes into!!

Eternal Wanderings: The Continuing Journey of Kara O’Keefe by Danielle Ackley-McPhail – Review by Gail Guerrero

Four Stars

Eternal Wanderings was an interesting read. The characters were growing while they continued their journey. Kara was looking for her place among her people. But even that seemed like a long shot. Everywhere she went trouble seemed to follow. You could feel the animosity coming from the Romani. The fact that they didn’t except her made no sense to me. I have to say that it was a little too short for me. Though her journey is far from over. The author did a good job developing the characters. I also felt like there was many points that the author made you really think about how you would handle the situation. A very interesting series about finding who you’re and following your own path. Though Kara hasn’t found hers yet.

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1)Shattered Reality by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just love the worlds that CA King can create for the reader to escape to! I have loved her other works but honestly her paranormal and fantasy novels really are a top fav of mine and always something I will one-click without even reading what the story may entail first. Shattered Reality was one of those must have one-clicks the moment I saw that gorgeous and gripping cover with her name attached. I had no idea what I was gonna get, but man was it a ride I will be eager to retake and reread again in the very near future.

Shattered Reality is a completely new take and spin on Medusa and Perseus. This is King’s mind in the best of ways and she has managed to take an centuries old tale and breathe in new life that makes complete sense. I was blown away with how this is a more modern take on it and felt as if it could actually be plausible and real. Mudusa finds herself returning home, the home she never wanted to revisit after working so hard to build a better life for herself, but her parents have died and she needs to return home. This is one you don’t want to miss reading, especially if you love paranormal and fantasy novels with nods to ancient greek gods. This is one I can’t really tell much more details because I don’t want to spoil the magic that it is. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next book in the series!

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1)Shattered Reality by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

C.A. King is not a new author to me but I have to say that she impresses me with every book I have read by her. This story has the feel of the ancient story of Perseus and Medusa. Who doesn’t love a good fantasy/paranormal with a mythological feeling? This book takes place in Knollville. Ms. King loves to tell us the story. She tells a wonderful story with her descriptive vocabulary. Her characters come to life in the story. Medusa is the main character who has high expectations for herself. There is one small tiny problem one phone call becomes a major problem. Perry P. is a private investigator who takes any case that comes across his desk. These two are the main characters of the story. You do not want to take your eyes off of Medusa and Perry. I will leave you with these descriptions because you will have to read the story to get the details. I highly recommend this story.

This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have to say from the moment I saw it I absolutely knew I had to read it. The cover is so eye catching and enticing I just couldn’t wait to read the story hidden behind it.
For me this story was made entirely by the two main characters. They had so much stacked against them and yet will still so determined to fight. They were strong and interesting which made them great to read about. I enjoyed the book overall and the great story the author produced. A very good read and I can’t wait to explore more of her work.

Yes! I love a great fantasy read that I can dive into and immerse myself into the world that is created and this book was no different at all! It’s fast-paced, has action, danger, romance and of course magic. This book was easy to read and flowed effortlessly from chapter to chapter. The storyline that this author has created is epic from the very beginning and kept hooked until the end! What made this book that much better was the brilliant characters that this author created, I connected with them instantly and couldn’t wait to follow along with their journey. With this being my first read from this author I thought it would take a whole to get into the swing of things, but it was like I had been reading this authors book for so long I was instantly captivated and didn’t want it to end! I highly recommend this read and can’t wait to read more from this author and what else is to come of this series.

Faerie's Magic (Seasons of the Fae Book 1)Faerie’s Magic by Jessica Feyden
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

First, I must start with the cover of this novel, Faerie’s Magic by Jessica Feyden. This cover is gorgeous and really draws in the reader before they even read a word of anything. I loved it and knew I needed to read this to find out the adventure that gorgeous Faerie goes on within the novel. It was a tad slow just at first with the way it set up the story and before it really took off, but I am glad I stuck it out. This has a lot of a new fav of mine, fae! This layers in a smexy wolf shifter and plenty of magic and adventure to keep the reader guessing how things will turn out. I loved the way the world just glowed to live before my eyes as I read, the world building was immensely strong and I felt transformed to this magical place I didn’t want to leave. If you love romance, fairies and a bit of magic and shifting this is the series for you. I am anxious to get my hands on the next book in the Seasons of the Fae series!

Epic read! Child of Prophecy (The Tirumfall Trilogy BOOK 2) by J Drew Brumbaugh, is a story about everyday folks. They are heroes, wizards, humans and wood nymphs, but they are just ordinary folks standing against evil. What I loved the most about this excellent tale is the plan. They had a great plan. Wizards, elves, wood nymphs and humans…what could go wrong? Anything that could go wrong did. You find yourself pleading with the universe…please, please just let it be right this time. This is a rip-roaring action-packed novel and I loved it.

This is the second book of this trilogy and it is a great adventure. It is my suggestion you read the first book before diving into this one because this one picks up where the other one leaves off. It was wonderful to have characters from the first book in this one and to meet new ones. The author did an excellent job bringing me into the story and keeping me entertained. I kept turning pages needing to know what was going to happen next. I felt like I was along on the adventure with these characters. I will always stand by reading the books in order- so, read her blackened soul first. Lady Isra is trying to lead Contessa into the darker side, which is not Contessa’s way. Child of Prophecy (The Tirumfall Trilogy BOOK 2) by J Drew Brumbaugh. This is the second book in this Tirumfall Trilogy and its just as good if not better than the first. It can be read as a standalone but I highly recommend reading the first to get a background on all the characters. Its the continuing story of Gant & Pris who are trying to find a child prophesied to lead the demons of the Western Kingdoms over the East. This time Gant is leaving behind a wife and son so the stakes are a lot higher. Along the way they are joined by several characters who are determined to stop the prophecy before its too late for all of them. Along the way they encounter magic, wizardry, shape shifters and many other characters. Will this rag tag group of characters find the prophesied child before its too late and will they be able to stop it without having to kill the child. Read Child of Prophecy to find out!

This book was exciting in a lot of ways from the action-packed scenarios between the faes to the witches (the Norns) and the witch-shifter. It also spins you down the realm of love and what happens once they join forces to become more than anyone can reckon with. Full of action, seduction in sex, magic and all that we could ever desire from a fantasy read. This one was unexpectedly beautiful and twisted but full of twists and turns as well.

I love how this story wasn’t your usual fantasy read or what you’d expect in any sense. I love how Kara sought out to pave a place for self and found a sense of worth within herself. Child of Prophecy (The Tirumfall Trilogy BOOK 2) by J Drew Brumbaugh – Review by Jennifer Gordon

Child of ProphecyChild of Prophecy by J. Drew Brumbaugh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Child of Prophecy is the second book in the ‘Tirumfall Trilogy’, and the story continues a few years after the end of book one, ‘Fall of the Western Kings’. I would suggest reading book one first where the characters were introduced and their backstory’s explained. In this novel our hero Gant continues his adventures and this time he must find the “child prophesied to lead the demons of the Western Kingdoms to victory over the people of the East”. Going with Gant on this exciting but dangerous journey is woodland nymph and his wife Dalphnia, Emperor, wizard and friend Pris, and shape-changer Amelia. Although they seem like an unlikely group of heroes they have already proven themselves before when Gant defeated Varg with his magical sword Valorious in a previous battle in book one. However will they have to kill the child to stop the carnage that will follow the child’s birth, or can they outwit the demons without killing.
This is another epic fantasy adventure by J Drew Brumbaugh and like with book one I felt totally immersed in this story due to the authors wonderful world building. I loved the main characters, and felt like I was back with an old friend, Gant. However all the characters are fascinating and well defined and all bring something different to the story. The authors detailed descriptions really made the story come alive and the plot was action packed and full of drama which had me gripped. I was hooked from page one and felt the narrative flowed well making this an enjoyable and engaging read. I look forward to the final instalment of this classic fantasy adventure trilogy.

Mudesa is a psychiatrist who strongly believes in reality and science. When her parents die, she is forced to return home. Unfortunately not all of her childhood memories are pleasant. Growing up in a house where the adults believed in magic made for a strange upbringing. Now Mudesa must face her fears once again. Instead of finding closure, Mudesa has more questions than before. With the help of a sexy stranger, maybe she’ll find some answers. Yet some questions are better left unanswered.

This book is filled with mystery and magic. The author will keep you guessing until the end. With twists and turns, you’ll be kept on the edge of your seat. I’ve read many books by C.A. King and have loved them all. She truly is an imaginative and creative author.

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1)Shattered Reality by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this story, we begin with Mudesa at home and relaxing after a long day at work in the clinic, watching the sunset and the city come alive, that is until she sees the shadow at the corner of her eye, she was always told that the shadows are demons to create a more solid form, however, they are unable to do it because they are trapped behind the glass and past experience has been that nothing good happens when the shadow appears.

She goes into a shower and tries to get rid of the goosebumps which the shadow has given her, as she is getting ready for bed, she takes some sleeping tablets and picks up a photo frame with a picture of her brothers and while reminiscing about them when she sees the shadow again. As she throws the frame across the room in shock, it shatters and when a bout of nausea overtakes her and she rushes to the bathroom, she realises that she has splinters of it all through her feet, the pain of which the sleeping tablet’s won’t help with.

The next day, she heads to her practice to start the day and is asking her assistant to arrange it so that all her meetings will be held in her office, when she receives a phone call to say that her parents have had an accident and passed away, she decides to instead rearrange all her appointments and goes to see a lawyer to get everything straightened out instead.

When she gets there, she wants to organise everything from there, however, there is a clause in the will which means she will have to head back to her family home and everything that she left behind her there.

We next meet Perry P., a private investigator who receives a mystery envelope with cash and a request to procure three items from a certain house, as the family owed him a debt, he was more tempted than usual to agree to the unusual circumstances.

As the two meet for the first time at the house, they both realise that they are both looking for the mystery hidden within the walls, but not necessarily for the same reason. As more things are revealed about the past, her family and why they behaved the way they did, a war in her mind between logic and her parent’s beliefs and the possibility that they are true begins.

Will Mudesa be able to solve the mystery and what has Perry P. got to do with it all, will he be a help or a hindrance to her and will she be able to overcome her fears and get to the truth? Only by reading it will you uncover the mysteries of the house and the people within it.
