Reading Shattered Reality was quick and enjoyable. C.A. King takes you to a place that gives the mind a little shake. Making you question your reality. Could everything really be as it is or is it a mirrored image of a different reality. I really liked the spin with the mirrors and magic. The fact that Mudesa didn’t believe in any of it gave the story a kick. I really enjoyed the plot. The story had a really nice flow and no sidetracking. I did find it annoying that she didn’t believe magic for so long with everything happening around her. Perry is a creepy character for me. The way he appeared through the story. Then you find out why and the pieces fall into place. I also like that I couldn’t figure out the story line from the start. Like I said it’s a good read with a little magic.

Shattered Reality (Summoned Book 1)Shattered Reality by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

‘Shattered Reality’ is an engaging and enjoyable paranormal fantasy story which is a retelling of the ancient mythological tale of Perseus and Medusa and is set in modern times. In this story Mudesa Black is a successful and respected psychiatrist who has left her estranged family behind her. However, having received a phone call Mudesa finds herself heading back home to Knollville and her family’s ageing mansion to face both her fears and her destiny. Meanwhile in Knollville private investigator Perry P’s latest client who has remained anonymous is happy paying him for what he sees as an easy job for easy money. All Perry has to do is watch ‘some dame’ for a few months however the more he watches the more curious he gets about the mysteries at the ageing mansion. Perry is not the only one wanting to unravel the mansions secrets as Mudesa plays detective herself. The pair soon discover that solving the mysteries may bring them both closure but in ways that they did not imagine were even possible.
This was a page turner of a novel which had me hooked from page one. The author is very good at bringing both the setting of the book and also the characters to life due to her detailed and descriptive narrative. The storyline flowed well and the plot had enough twists in it to keep me guessing until the end. I felt immersed in the novel whilst reading it and as it’s book one in the authors new ‘Summoned’ series I look forward to reading book two.

Shattered Reality by C.A. King is the first book in the new Summoned series. I always enjoy a new book by C.A. King and this did not disappoint. Retelling and reworking the tale of Medusa and Perseus into modern times wonderfully I flew through the pages of this book. Mudesa Black, a psychiatrist, who has a new role to take in her life is the main character. Perry P. is a private investigator with a mysterious new client. I have always enjoyed this classic tale and many do not take it on especially reworking to modern times. C.A. King did a great job and created characters I really enjoyed and a story which was fantastic. I look forward to more from this series and the author in the future.

By Christy Nicholas
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the book Age of Druids (The Druid’s Brooch Series #9) by Christy Nicholas. It is a story that includes action, danger, romance, and magic. It is a book that pulled me in from the very beginning. I enjoyed reading about the character of Clíodhna. She is a woman who has a love for her children and is discovering that she has talents and powers. What will happen when what she believes clashes with the new church? What does the future hold for Clíodhna? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me turning pages to find out what was going to happen next. I grew to care about what happens to Clíodhna with each chapter that I read. The book is written in such a way that I deeply felt her emotions. She also shows herself to be intelligent, strong and determined when she needs to be. Other additional characters are introduced and while some work against Clíodhna, some help and assist her. The author writes in such detail that I felt like I was right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on a book that is exciting and entertaining. I wasn’t able to put it down until I read the last page. It is a story I would highly recommend reading.

Super Sorry by C. A. King is a great change of pace from the books I have been reading. C. A. is one of my go to writers and this story was wonderful. This is a YA read with all of the teenage challenges, not to mention adding in super powers. The characters are relatable and the story flows from beginning to end. Sarah Sorry is a typical teen, wanting to hang out with friends, but then things start changing. This is my new favorite book of C.A. King. I like the fact that most of her books are short enough to read in a day or two, and they are always pack with great writing and thought provoking issues.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the third book in this series which I enjoyed just as much as the previous two books. I highly suggest reading this series if you have not done so This is a well developed story that has characters that are easily connectable. They made the story easy to read and entertaining. This is a fantasy story that I had a hard time putting down. In this book Isabella believes she is the child prophecy until she finds out the truth, that Gwen is the prophecy. What will happen when the truth comes out? The tower at Tirumfall holds secrets but it may just be the secrets Isabella is looking for. Unlocking this tower could be good or it could be bad, you will have to read this book to find out what happens. The characters really do bring this story to life and easy to read. They are strong and well developed. I highly recommend this book and this series.

This is a series I have enjoyed from the beginning. This is book nine, this series just keeps getting better and better. I enjoyed being pulled in right from the beginning. This author’s attention to details made the story feel realistic. I had no issues connecting with the characters as they bring the story to life. Cliodhna finds herself in the middle of a disagreement in her new church. From here her story takes off with meeting a stranger who helps her with her talents, making new friends and also makes some bad choices. These bad choices could leave her without her family or her happiness. Will she find something within her to face this danger? This is a story that is full of action with a lot happening. It was done in a manner that was easy to understand and I didn’t get lost. This made a great afternoon story which I highly recommend.

5 stars!
Wow is this the end? I have followed this series since the beginning, and it is not a genre I would usually pick up, but I can say I am fully invested in each story. I think the mix of romance, fantasy and ancient times really creates something that appealed to me, and Christy Nicholas is amazing at pulling these different aspects together. I really really love how in this last book we get to see the conception of the brooch, and see who was the first ever in the family to receive it. In the beginning I was kind of iffy on my feelings for Cliodhna, I felt she was just jumping from one man to the next, whoever would have her, but then saw how she really was in love with Adhna. Their relationship is bumpy, and my heart broke many times for Cliodhna when it came to her kids. I can’t give anything away but thinking that her as a mother would have to make the choices she does regarding her children is devastating. It seems she is just dealt one blow after the next once having to relocate to the fae world. Then we have the crazy Bodach who will stop at nothing to become king. There are also many small elements that really give the book that much more power in drawing you in. Overall a fantastic book, the series, each book can be read as a standalone but I would recommend reading in order.

I love how this story wasn’t your usual fantasy read or what you’d expect in any sense. I love how Kara sought out to pave a place for self and found a sense of worth within herself. Her courage is further exemplified with her fierce desire to combat her dangerous enemies but protect those around her as well. What I enjoyed about Kara was she was very likeable and relatable as a heroine. This story was intriguing, page-turning and powerful to read!

Mira is a Fae princess and Cadoc is a wolf shifter. They are fated mates but have quite a few bumps in the road to overcome to truly have a happy ending. They Fae and the Shifters are sworn enemies which makes things harder. I love paranormal romances but this book felt rushed. It’s like the author wanted too many things to happen in one book. There wasn’t a nice flow to the story. One minute they love each other, the next paragraph they are arguing and trying to kill each other. I continually had to stop and reread sentences to figure out what happened. There was no build up to get to know the main characters therefore I felt no connection to them. My favourite character was Cashiel who happened to be a secondary character and wasn’t in the story enough as far as I was concerned. The premise of the story is good and must have been excellent in the mind of the author. There was just trouble putting pen to paper.

This book drew me in from the beginning and kept me entertained throughout. I loved this modern take on an ancient tale. There are wonderful characters in this story, Mudesa and Perry. Mudesa is having to go back home to handle her parents affairs after their death. Perry is a private investigator looking for something he was hired to find. This book is full of fantasy, magic, twists and turns. The author does an exceptional job in taking me into a fantastical world that I never want to leave. This is not the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last. I find this author to be a great storyteller and I cannot wait to read what’s next.

This is a great story that grips you from the beginning and doesn’t let go. The author does a great job of building the characters and making you feel like you re part of their world. I have read several books by this author and I have enjoyed them all.

Mudesa is a successful psychiatrist. She is a logical thinker who know that magic and superstitions aren’t real. But is she right? After her parents pass away she has to return to the home she has left behind. Is returning home a good idea? What secrets were her parents hiding from her? Was all the stories her parents told her about magic and demons true or were her parents mad?

Super Sorry by C.A. King is a YA supernatural/paranormal story. It is a fun fantasy with a strong and sassy superhero. Our heroine finds that not everything is as it seems and decides to right the wrongs. But she is also going through the normal teenage angst of trying to fit in and finding your place in the world. Let’s not forget the trusty sidekick that is by her side. CA has done a great job of the world and character building and giving us a story that YA’s will enjoy.

This book is the fourth in the series, so it did seem like I started something from the middle. I should go back and read the first three books to understand Kara O’Keefe and her life better. The book itself is written beautifully and you can empathize with Kara, and you would want to know more about her. And the only way to know more is go backwards s in this series and read the first three books. The story of a young woman, who tries her best to be a part of the clan, honor the vow, facing an ancient enemy, Kara comes across as a dynamic, inspiring, endearing character. I liked this book and her heroine. Would come back more wiser reading the first three books.

Faerie’s Magic (Seasons of the Fae book 2) by Jessica Feyden, had a great story line. I loved the story. All kinds of magical creatures in this one with some unexpected powers. Strong characters and delightful world building. I did get a little bogged down with the family trees. There was quite a bit of repetitious dialogue which became somewhat distracting but all in all a good read. Reader be warned there are adult situations that are quite graphic, so this is not a book for the young.

I really liked this romantic fae fantasy story. The story is a fast pace simple love story. The pilot line is engaging. The characters are fully developed and well-liked. This story is about Mira and Cadoc. Like all romances. Mira and Cadoc had some hurdles in their relationship. Mira is a fae princess and Cadoc is a wolf shifter. Cadoc did not see himself with a Fae but his wolf-side was drawn to Mira. Mira’s magic has been messed with and she knows if she is to regain it she will have to marry to take the throne. Will Cadoc be her mate? Can Mira overcome her troubles with her magic? I highly recommend this story to find out these answers and to see if Cadoc and Mira become an item.

I will say first off I would recommend going back and reading the rest of the other three books in the series prior to jumping into this one. I unfortunately did this backwards and started here and it made the book a tad disjointed and incomplete for me. I am sure that is because I was missing the back story and character development that was important to the story. With that said this book was quite the magical adventure and did leave me wanting more. We get a story of Kara O’Keefe and she has quite the story to tell. This book has a myriad of amazing characters and magical elements with a fabulous world built upon with each and every word. I felt as if I was transplanted to this magical place and I never wanted to leave. I will for sure be going back and checking out the previous three books and any more that should come. I loved this. I just wanted more and needed more grounding, so I am giving it a four star rating that I feel will increase when I do read the entirety of the series.
