All I ever wanted to do was read my books, play my sports, and help people. Life and prophecy had other things in mind.
Helping people is what I do; as an empath and semi-frequent telepath, I can easily sense and understand people’s needs and emotions. Sometimes even before they do. Being able to read everyone’s thoughts and feelings all the time can drive me crazy with anxiety, but that moment when I can finally make someone’s life better makes everything worth it.
Unfortunately, I’m also the next in line to rule the galaxy, I’m the only diplomat most planets will listen to, assassins try to kill me on an annoyingly regular basis, and a much-vaunted Prophecy has decreed that I’m going to die. Oh, and someone blew up my home planet.
Kind of a lot to deal with, right?
Too bad I just got another problem: a big, irritating, overbearing bodyguard with serious anger management issues.
A Pacific Northwesterner by birth and disposition, Mara has lived in Washington DC, Oregon, Japan, and most recently the beautiful Pacific Grove, California, before returning to her roots in Seattle. By day she teaches history to unsuspecting teenagers, and by night she writes books and travels to far-flung places. She loves to be with animals, read, play sports, and drink more London Fogs than is likely good for her.

I loved this read! It has everything and more! Ashley Pagano is a new author for me and getting the chance to read The Gauntlet was everything I hoped it would be. I was totally captivated with this reading, I couldn’t put it down. This author has created a well developed and mentally visual read that I enjoyed from beginning to end. Ashley Pagano made it even better by creating two brilliant characters that had an undeniable connection from the moment they meet. This is a brilliant fantasy read that will have you wondering what could happen next, its full of suspense, action, adventure, danger & magic but lets not forget the romance.
I highly recommend this read! It is one that shouldn’t be missed! I can’t wait to see what else this author brings!

I give Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1) by Laura Hawks, 5 stars.
Mia is a typical teen in high school, she has her own group of friends and she has one main passion – cooking. She’s pretty good at it too, good enough to help her parents put at their soon to open restaurant. Plus, on her 15th birthday, her dad gets arrested and she starts being able to talk with a cat! Can said cat (he says he goes by Gumshoe) help her figure out the mystery behind her dad’s arrest or is everything doomed?
This is a great book! I am leery or YA books because I read too many that don’t appeal to me simply because I am long past that age. After reading the description, I had to pick this book up. Mia is absolutely great. She is level headed and really cares about her family and friends. She does all she can for those in her community. Then there is Gumshoe. I can’t say I’ve met a character like him and I am totally in love with him! The story too is quite interesting. You never really know exactly who is behind it or why until the very end. I like mysteries that keep me guessing. I cannot wait to read the next book in the series!
If you like supernatural mysteries with a great teen lead character, this book is for you.

Gumshoe and the Mysterious Mushrooms by Laura Hawks
4 Stars!!!!
I just love to find new authors. This book was such a great short summer read. I just couldn’t put the book down. I was drawn into the book and felt as though I was right in the middle of it all.
I really liked Mia’s character. I really like books that are paranormal and especially ones with cats. Gumshoe is a very interesting familiar. I like how the author unfolds the story and I found this book to be a refreshing change from my regular genre. I will definitely be reading more from this author in the future.

This was such an enjoyable read, I really enjoyed every minute of it! I do sometimes like to read a YA book, I find them really easy to read and whilst I love angst I also enjoy just a nice simple story that and that’s exactly what I got with this story. It was so refreshing to read – I loved the unique storyline (and who wouldn’t love a story with a talking cat in it?!?) and I really enjoyed getting to know Mia and following her story. For 15 I thought she was a really rounded character, she was kind hearted but had an air of determination about her which I liked. There were some great twists in the story and I enjoyed trying to guess what was going to happen – would Mia finally uncover the mystery surrounding her family? This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author but I think it may be my favourite so far! I thought that this was a really engaging story and I am really looking forward to reading more from the series!

This book was awesome! It was one of this books that took me by surprise and I devoured it!! It was refreshing because it was different than the many other supernatural/paranormal books that are out there and it kept me turning page after page. There were all kinds of supernatural creatures in this book and I enjoyed that. I am looking forward to reading more books by this author and I would absolutely recommend this book to a friend!

What a wonderful start to a series! This team mystery was intriguing and full of which detail. I loved the characters and especially loved that one of them was a cat with a sassy sense of humor. I found myself laughing out loud as I read the pages. It kept me engaged in guessing as to what would happen next. A fantastic start to the series. I cannot wait to see how the author continues the series in the next book.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano is the first book I have read by this author and it will not be my last. Ashley Pagano has a way of grabbing my attention and pulls me into her world in which she has created. Once I started the story there was no way that I was stopping. So make sure you have enough time to complete the entire story. The characters are amazing because she does not deal with only vampires or werewolves. There is the full cast of supernatural cast Vampires, Werewolves, Witches, Shape Shifters, and Faeries. There is white magic and dark magic and who will manipulate the four elements. Then there is the Soppranaturale Hotel which is not your typical hotel, it holds different supernatural beings that try to keep the magical world hidden from the rest of the world. This world is the best of most book worlds in the supernatural worlds. I can only hope you enjoy this story as much as I did. Happy Reading.

Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1) by Laura Hawks. Let me start by saying I sure wish they had books like this when I was a teen. This book was awesome! Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1) by Laura Hawks is a teen/young adult fantasy and supernatural mystery/thriller. This story had me intrigued just by reading the author’s synopsis for the book. At just 15 years old, Mia’s life has changed and she thrust into a hole with unexpected events unfold. The pace of the book keep me engaged along with following Mia along her journey to clear her family’s name. I enjoyed this story so much, that I will be getting a copy for my daughter to read as this genre is right up her alley. This series is bound to be a fun and mysterious read.

What a fun little story. This story if good for anyone who likes mysteries and a talking cat! Definitely good for teens! Entertaining enough for adults as well!
The coolest character is of course Mia who is the main character. The secondary characters are helpful and easy to read about. With the secondary character of Donna Antonio standing out for me. Knowing who this character is named after gave me an extra smile.
This book starts out a little sad and foreboding. “The circle of life blossomed all around him and increased his melancholy. He hated it. Detested the circumstances that brought him here today. He longed to know what happened to his family.” As the story progresses, this foreboding turns into an “ah ha moment”. Getting to know this character and what made him so sad is part of the enlightenment of this story.
This is my first book by Hawks and I can see her becoming a go to author.

I thought that The Gauntlet was a fantastic read, it may have been a shorter read but it was packed full of wonderful characters, action and fantasy! I love how original the storyline was – it really captured my attention from the very beginning. The authors’ writing was really easy to read and although as mentioned before it is a shorter than average story it didn’t feel rushed and I definitely didn’t feel like I was missing anything. The pace and flow were perfect. The author’s attention to detail was amazing and this meant that the world building for the story was excellent and I adored her character building – they all developed well over the story. I am really excited to see where the author is going to take this series, I have a feeling it is going to be an amazing one! I can’t wait for the next book to be released!

The Gauntlet by Ashley Pagano is a brilliantly unique story. The author does a great job of mixing together all the different supernatural species in a way that I have not seen done before. The story is quite a short one – which would be my only gripe – however there is a lot packed into these few pages. The book is exciting and fast paced. It grabs your attention right at the start and doesn’t let go right until the end. This was as new author to me so I am pleased to say that I have enjoyed her writing style. The mystery and intrigue she has brought to a fantasy story is great. I am very much looking forward to reading more of her work.

The Gauntlet by Ashley Pagano is a phenomenal paranormal read! Though it is a shorter story I still enjoyed everything about it so much so that I ended up reading it in one sitting as I couldn’t bring myself to stop reading.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano is a paranormal suspense. This story offers a strong female lead that is independent and unique in her own rights. The author has created a “world” unlike any other and it’s imaginative, yet feels so realistic at the same time. A great introduction to the series and the possibilities of what is to come further along the line. Despite the limited pages in this first book, Ashley Pagano did an amazing job with character development and the creation of a story line that is intriguing, begging to be read.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano is a short paranormal story that is fun and original. Even though it is a short story it packs a punch and it has everything needed to keep you entertained and intrigued. What mystery does this hotel hold? What is going on behind closed doors? There is action and battles, magic and danger, suspense and hurt, secrets and romance and this is only part of what to expect. When there are many magical beings such as Vampires and Witches, Elves and Fae all in one place things tend to get a little tense and the place to go to let off a little steam is the gauntlet. Ashley has done a great job of adding her spin on the supernatural beings and the place in which they dwell, giving them a new light. Ommily has always been drawn to the unknown, the more mystical side of life and has come to the one place that may hold all the answers she seeks. Link has been alone for a very long time. Always under the impression that he was the last of his kind but the stunning creature that just walked in the door is more than what she first seems.
This magical world draws you in and almost seems that it is real and you are as much a participant as the characters. If you love the paranormal then this is a book that you will love. Go on you know you want to.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano was a fast pace, fun, original paranormal read, that had me hooked.
This little wonder pulls you in right away with its alluring detail and its intriguing premises. This book creates is own spin of the supernatural, and I fell right into the world that was created. This hotel, not an overly new concept, had a fresh feeling, as it wasn’t just all about supernaturals checking in and out, it was so much more, and man I loved every minute of it.
Action, romance, connections, vampires, witches, craziness, battles, man oh man, for a short read this book was packed with everything I love in paranormal fantasies. Not only that, but the character development was on fire. I don’t know how the author done it, to managed all that while till keeping the plot going, the detail on point and the suspense gripping.
Overall this book will capture you and keep you not only reading, but have you wanting to be apart of this world. So please take my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval, that this book is truly something special, and is a hard must read form me.

This is the first story I’ve read by this author and the first few pages gave me a heavy feeling in the pit of my stomach. I wasn’t sure what was going to happen and almost closed the book. I am so glad I did not.
This is one of those stories that I don’t want to say anything about because I feel like it would be spoilers. What I will say is that it is a whimsical, quick moving, well developed story that I think everyone would enjoy. I would recommend it to an elderly book club and middle school students alike.
I have always enjoyed stories that have a playlist… well this story has a cookbook at the end. Recipes of a meal that is served in the story. I have highlighted for a future family dinner.
I will absolutely be watching out for the next installment of this delightful series.

Gumshoe And The Mysterious Mushrooms (Gumshoe Mysteries Book 1) by Laura Hawks was an intriguing original read, that kept me flipping the pages.
The first book in what I believe is going to be a crazily outstanding series, we are taken on a mysterious adventure with a talking cat and a teen who learns that her life and what she believe isn’t all that true. As YA is my guilty pleasure, when I seen this quirky read pop up I had to grab it, and man oh man, I’m so happy I did.
Fresh, gripping and pulling, this book dug its claws in right away. I didn’t really know what I was getting into, but in a few short seconds, I knew I made the right choice. For a 15 year old, Mia is something else. Normally I have loads of problems with YA MC’s, but not with Mia. She’s strong, resilient, and sets a clear gold of what needs to be done. Gumshoe, he’s the perfect match, and I want a talking sassy cat. That cat really brought this story together in that unique way, and Mia, with her awesomeness, push this story forward into something amazing.
On a whole this book is worth your time, energy, and it gets my super high recommendation and my golden stamp of approval.

The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series By: Ashley Pagano 5 out of 5 stars
The story The Gauntlet: The Soppranaturale Series by Ashley Pagano is a supernatural thriller that I loved reading. It pulls you in right from the very beginning and didn’t let me go until the final page. I found myself lost in the storyline and also reading about the characters. I loved reading about Ommity and Link. Ommity is a newcomer to The Soppronaturale. She is intelligent and independent. She also is able to control and offensively manipulate the four elements. She has now met Link. I found myself really liking the character of Link and found myself caring about him and also Ommity with each chapter that I read. Will they be able together to defeat the Gauntlet? Read this book to find out. This story has supernatural characters, magic, and danger. There are other characters that are introduced and interact with Ommity and Link. Each has their own part to play in the story. There is action as well as suspense, intense emotions, and dialogue. It is a book that I would highly recommend reading.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I enjoyed being pulled into the story right from the start. It is a well developed story that has a supernatural element to it. A hotel looks normal but the problem is, it has secrets like supernatural battles. Link and Ommily have a connection from the time they meet. One engaged, the other has a crazy ex. Their journey is one of romance and action, you won’t regret picking it up. I highly recommend their story.

Hidden in plain sight, is a mysterious hotel that doubles as a supernatural refugee: The Soppronaturale.
Each supernatural inhabitant has a specific purpose, job, and destiny.
All to keep the hotel running and its secrets safe.
Vampires exist. Werewolves exist. Witches exist. Shape Shifters exist. And now Faeries exist.
The last two Faeries, once unified, could be the most powerful forces on Earth.
Ommily, newcomer to the Soppronaturale, offensively controls and manipulates the four elements; Fire, Earth, Wind and Water. While Link defensively uses their energy to shield Ommily and himself from even the darkest magic.
They could protect all others. But first, they have to defeat the Gauntlet.
Ashley Pagano has always dreamed of being an artist both figuratively and literally. Her love of art was instilled by her mother who always inspired her to be creative either with a paintbrush or with a pen and paper. As far back as she can remember her life was always centered around introspection, storytelling, and imagination. Because she is so artistic, she took to the idea of creative writing very passionately. Her ability to describe a scene, person, or place, she compares to painting a picture, where she can describe every detail vividly in order to make the reader feel like they’re truly living in the story. Her works of writing usually center around a powerhouse female protagonist (which reflect her own personality), who progresses through many wild and extreme obstacles. Ashley loves to write young adult fiction stories that end with a cliffhanger, that have the reader begging for more and questioning what happens next.Ashley has won awards for her design, art, and writing. Some of her works include the Never Fear the Reaper, 3 book series and now the first book in the Soppranaturale Series: The Gauntlet.
Ashley doesn’t believe in down time whatsoever and actually loves having a full “To-Do”list. Ashley is a wife to her wonderful husband, Eric and a mother to a beautiful little baby girl named Dakota. She is also a Graphic Designer and a health and fitness coach. Her husband and daughter inspire her to be the best person she can be and encourage her to pursue any of her dreams (no matter how extravagant they may be).

A fairytale retelling in a land of magic and war, see Cinderella like you’ve never seen her before.
As Captain, Wren is sworn to protect the soldiers she leads into battle, which includes preventing a potential massacre in an upcoming campaign that could mean the end of the war in Heros. But defying orders from her Lord could mean a noose around her neck…
If she gets caught, of course.
Accompanied by men and women willing to accept the risk, Wren knows they need a miracle to overpower the sorceress who controls the magical creatures surrounding the city of Eius—one grand enough to win Sortis the victory they’ve been after since the War of Giants began.
There’s always a price to be had where magic is involved, though. A price she doesn’t realize until it’s too late.
One that might just cost Wren her life.
The Embers We Seek is a serial series, meaning a new episode of 8-15,000 words will be published in the last full week of every month. Cinderella’s tale will be completed in ten episodes.
Acacia K. Parker has never been the shy one. With her father having served in the Air Force for twenty years, she’s enjoyed homes in many different states, as well as an eight-year stint in Germany (and no, she doesn’t speak German, even though she really wishes she did). The odd encounters with various strangers and places morphed her brain from normal to quite unnatural, and what better way to tame the voices in her head than to become a writer?
Oh, and she’s an artist, too, although getting their faces down on paper only shuts them up for so long (but it certainly helps).
When she isn’t falling prey to the voices, Acacia enjoys jamming out to her favorite Spotify playlists, spending time with her husband, drinking wine, and hanging out with her two writing buddies, Boomer and Sookie (think eighty-pound Golden Retrievers).
