THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Susan Mowdy

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I am in love with Sylvie Stewart’s books! All of her books bring such humor and heart every single time add in that its a single dad and I know I’ll love it! I’m such a sucker for the single dad stories! I completely loved the connection between Ari and Jax. Jax is so carefree and tries to steer clear of commitment and Ari is a smidge of a man-eater but when the flirtation between them escalate, a child is thrown into the mix. Several months later they are thrown back together! I loved the story and I loved these characters! Such a great read and I can’t wait for more from Miss Stewart!

Before the Second Show by Thia Finn – Review by Kerry Baker

Before the Second ShowBefore the Second Show by Thia Finn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before the Second Show by Thia Finn is a stand-alone book that will completely immerse you in its tale.
This book is absolutely amazing!!! Emmy and Alex are the perfect kind of broken that just draws you in and makes you want to learn about every little thing. The fact that they aren’t these “perfect people” is really what caught my attention. While I might not love a rockstar life it made me feel like I could be going through the same thing as them at anytime:
The story was brilliant as well. It had such a depth to the writing that you could picture everything so clearly. This book has been fantastically written and I hope we get to see more from these characters!!

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author and she always continues to surprise me. I love a good single dad Romcom but this book exceeded all my expectations. This is the sixth book of the Carolina Connection series. This story can be read as a stand alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book. I could not stop once I started the book. It only took my a few hours to devour this incredible book.

Ari is a very talented woman that is ready for the big time. She is working two jobs just to make sure her dreams will come true. Ari has always dated the wrong type of guys until she meets the handsome Jax Crosby. She has been watching him for a while. Ari doesn’t want to get into a relationship right now. She was shocked to find out that she will be helping his daughter out with singing lessons. Ari can’t say no because that’s more money in her pocket. She slowly gets to know Jax and there is something there but what could it be. Is Ari ready to risk her dream for another one she doesn’t even know about?

REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Jenni Bishop

Rewind Boxed SetRewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Rewind Boxed Set (Rewind #1-4) by Rowan Shaw is the collection of the books in the series. Rowan’s writing paints a picture that is easily imaginable and shows raw and vulnerable feelings of these people looking for love.

REWIND is a MM second chance romance and is an amazing story. It is a beautiful journey and the characters are written with depth and are so endearing. It is a very emotional story and switches between the past and the present and a coming together again after a failed relationship many years ago.

from being two young men just being in love. It shows the darker side of people who are homophobic and what they are capable of, which always leaves a bitter taste in my mouth. It is also a tale that has a sense of humour and witty remarks.

Rowan has done a wonderful job in this story and I look forward to what may come next.

RETURN (Rewind Book 2) is another great addition to this series! I really enjoyed the first book, so I was looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint. This one is probably my favourite of the two which shows that Rowan is finding her stride with the characters and I really felt invested in Raphael’s story. The story is well written and Rowan does it beautifully. Return is a beautiful and emotionally charged read and the world and characters are vivid and felt real.

REVIVE (Rewind Book 3) is another great addition to this series! I really enjoyed the other two books, so I was looking forward to this one and it didn’t disappoint. I really felt invested in this story which is well written and Rowan does it beautifully. Revive is funny and beautiful and emotionally charged read and the world and characters are vivid and felt real.

REBOUND (Rewind Book 4) is a quick read that is like the others an emotional read. Rowan touches on subjects that many think of as taboo, but she does so beautifully. She puts her heart and soul into each one of her stories and it shows through her wordsmithing and world building. I like the characters in this story and the fact it is a little different from the others.

Noah is a Bisexual young man who is lost but all it takes is to meet the right person who makes him realise that he is allowed to be himself and to be happy along with it but will his heart be broken again?

If you love M/M then is definitely for you and if you are not take a chance. Grab a copy and find out Noah’s story.

THE RUNAROUND: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (CAROLINA CONNECTIONS BOOK 6) By SYLVIE STEWART – Review by Jeanne Hall

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I just finished reading The Runaround Carolina Connections. It was so good, the chemistry between Jax and Ariana were hot and steamy, but then funny, charming and down right sweet at times. The story pulled me in from the first page, and kept me enthralled till the final page. It’s one of those books that will make you laugh and cry, then smile and want to throw it across the room. Ariana and Jax seem to be two wrongs making a right. I would highly recommend this book if you want something that just keeps your interest through the whole book, one of those “I have time to read just one more chapter” kind of books. Its that good.

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Liz Vrchota

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have become familiar with Fernandes writing over the last year or so and so when I saw this one I was intrigued by the difference of storyline from her other novels. I loved how this book brought on the angsty and very real reality that is life and making love work around it. These main characters will try your patience and ask you to look inward as you read. Often I found myself really having disdain for them each, especially Trish, but they have a realistic life that causes ripples and affects the way they approach love.

Trish is an adopted young woman that has the passion and talent of playing piano. She hasn’t had an easy past when it comes to love both with family and with the opposite sex. She can be a tad bit negative though and that is where I struggled with her. Michael has no desire for long term anything. He is a one night stand type of guy and these two may look like absolutely the opposite of what they actually need. However, we see by the end how they could easily be the glue to mend their broken hearts. I enjoyed how raw and realistic this book came across and I look forward to seeing what else is to come from Ms. Fernandes!

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set: (Books 1-2-3) Vigilante Justice Thriller Series by Mark Nolan – Review by Naomi McDonald

Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set (Jake Wolfe #1-3)Jake Wolfe Series Bundle Box Set by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This Vigilante Justice box set contains the first three books from this series. Reading these was my first experience with this author. I was not disappointed. This box set is a great way to spend a day binge reading.

Jake Wolfe is a multi-layered character that keeps you guessing. His knack for attracting trouble leads you on great adventures as you turn the pages. These stories are full of danger, intrigue, suspense, and even some emotional moments. The cemetery scene with Cody in the first book gets you right in the feels. To keep things from getting too serious, there are also some humorous moments played out through banter dialog between Jake and his friends.

The stories approach things from several viewpoints, which gives you a great overall picture of how the characters connect together and their motivations. I liked how even the dog got a viewpoint. You don’t see that often.

If you love action-packed, edge-of-your-seat thrillers, this is the series for you.

The Runaround (Carolina Connections #6)The Runaround by Sylvie Stewart

The Runaround is the 6th book in the Carolina Connections Series by Sylvie Stewart. I just loved this book; it was a refreshing book by a new to me author. I haven’t read all the books in this series but will be changing that soon. The two main characters this book follows are Jax and Ari, and let me tell you, you will either love them or want to smack them as your read. I was hooked on this book from the first page and couldn’t put it down until I was done. You won’t be disappointed with this book; I can’t wait to read more from this author. This can be read as a standalone

Covert Threat (A Gray Ghost Novel, book 5) by Amy McKinley

5 +++++ Stars

MY FAVORITE SO FAR!! I love this whole series, but I have to say this one had me totally invested from the very first page. Jules and Trev were completely and utterly awesome characters. I loved their dialogue and I must say the twists and turns in this story were placed in the best spots to have me totally questioning everything I thought was going on. A few things I had suspected along the way but not in the exact way this author took them.

I love everyone with Gray Ghost, Hannah still frightens me a little bit LOL but she’s totally awesome. This author writes some of the best suspense filled with Danger, edge of your seat, emotional stories with some great romance thrown in. An auto one click for me!

Not going into the storyline which was simply out of this world, but will say…Read this whole series, it sits up in my favorites, that list of books I can not wait to read again back to back.

Loved It!!

Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Erin Wolf

Call of the Alpha (The Powder River Pack #2)Call of the Alpha by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I give Call of the Alpha (Powder River Pack Book 2) by Brooke May, 4 stars.

This is a well-written supernatural romance that’s fun to read. Having read book one, I was looking forward to reading this one. The main characters are so real — fun but they also have a serious side. Family is important to them both and that comes above all else. You really feel what each of these characters is feeling. Kylie does not want to believe it, but something tells her she should. Mason know right away but doesn’t want to scare her off. It’s intriguing to see just what dance they play towards love and where they will end up.

If you are a fan of supernatural romance, I recommend this book and series. By the way, this can be read as a standalone, but I do recommend book one for how well they are done.

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2) by Lisa Lanay – Review by Juls Dick

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2)Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taming Zane is the second book in the Almost Perfect series by Lisa Lanay, though it can be read as a standalone. It follows the story of Zane (a talented plastic surgeon) and Shannon (an intelligent and independent college professor) after they meet by chance on a flight to California and a series of unfortunate events brings them back together. I found this book very sweet, though there were times when I just wanted to shout at the two main characters to get their acts together and have to admit at times I actually disliked Zane. I did find to refreshing that Lanay allowed Shannon to stand her ground and not be pushed into making a choice she didn’t want. I hope that book three revisits these characters and the readers can get to know them more.

The Runaround (The Carolina Connections #6) by Sylvie Stewart

5 out of 5 stars
The runaround is the sixth book in the Carolina Connection written by Sylvie Stewart, and she didn’t disappoint. I just loved the plot and the characters are amazing, funny and well written I just loved how they played off each other. We also get to see our favorite couple from the first five books.
Ari the last thing she need is the messy complications of love when she got so many balls in the air and so many goals yet to accomplish. She always picked loser boyfriends they’re like martinis; they’re lots of fun at first, but the longer you hang out the bigger headache they’ll give you. In comes Jax he thinks he can tempt her to take a walk on the scary side and he’s using his daughter to reel her in.
Jax has always been carefree he likes to stay 2 steps ahead of everything, so he never gets surprised but, guess what he just finds out that he is a dad to a 14year old girl. She wants nothing to do with him, He’s not ready to be a dad he doesn’t even know what to do.
This is a great book and you will need to read the book to find out what happens with Ari and Jax and Jax’s daughter.
I highly recommend this book/series….

The Runaround: A Single Dad Romantic Comedy (Carolina Connections Book 6) by Sylvie Stewart
4 Stars

This was a fun, lighthearted read. The banter between the characters was quite comical. For a romantic comedy, it had depth to the story. Jax is a man who can melt your panties with his southern charm. He knows his way around women and has many notches on his bedpost. Dealing with his fourteen year old daughter is completely different especially because he only met her seven months ago. If getting her singing lessons will keep her happy then so be it.

Ariana is a strong willed, potty mouthed woman who is goal oriented. She’s a breath of fresh air and I loved her. She’s had a string of loser ex- boyfriends and even though she’s immensely attracted to Jax, she won’t allow him to charm his way into her pants. Obviously fate has other plans.

I think the author did a good job showing the problems that Jax and his daughter had to overcome. The growth of their relationship was remarkable. The story was good and the characters are amazing. I would definitely recommend this book.

The Sister Pact: Home Is Where The Heart Is, perfectly sums up this story. Jacquie Biggar sure knows how to pull at your heart strings. This was a heartwarming story, of family turmoil, resilience and redemption. I absolutely loved reading this book, it flowed so easily and took me a night to finish. Holly Tremaines character was witty, emotional and raw, definitely what I look for in a main character. I also love her Nephew Jacob, he was such a sweet little boy and came across very real. You won’t be disappointed with this book. Five stars for sure. I would 100% recommend this book.

Wow what an emotional rollercoaster of a romance story.

Shannon meets Zane on a plane. There is an immediate attraction between them but Zane is a none commitment type of guy and she thinks once they get off the plane she would never see him again.

When Shannon loses her wallet, Zane comes to rescue her by offering her a place to stay for the week she is there.

Over the week there relationship and attraction intensifies until on the last night they give in and enjoy one night of bliss together.
The next day Zane is quick to make Shannon realise he cant offer her commitment that she wants and even though her heart breaks she knew this from the start.

BUT has Zane made the wrong decision? Could he give Shannon the commited relationship she wants? Is what he’s feeling for her love or just make believe?

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sarah and James’ story is full of love, sex, and heartbreak. Sarah is a single mom and professor at the local university. She speaks her mind and loves freely. However, James comes into her life and she begins to wonder if the walls she has erected between her heart and sex is as impenetrable as she thought.
James is a soldier who currently works for the university where Sarah works. What begins as a friends with benefits arrangement with Sarah soon starts blurring the lines and confusing James as to what he really wants. He was raised to want the traditional marriage, but Sarah has him questioning what that looks like. A change in his current career brings everything to a head and he is forced to decide what he wants.
I found myself pulled into the story. As a mother of a teenagers myself, the situation Sarah finds herself in made me laugh and feel connected to her. Sarah and James’ story feels so real and I felt their emotions right along with them. I even cried toward the end of the book because I felt for everyone involved. The supporting characters in this story are awesome and I am hoping they will be making an appearance in the next book. There is a bit of a cliffhanger at the end…and I will definitely be reading the next book to see what happens!

REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Angela Hayes

Rewind Boxed SetRewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This boxed set contains all four books in the Rewind series by Rowan Shaw. Here are a couple of my individual reviews to give you an idea of what to expect .

Rewind is the first book in the Rewind Series by Rowan Shaw. It is a emotionally charged M/M, second chances story that pulled me in right from the beginning. The story is a little dark, and very sad in places- and my emotions were battered by what I was reading- but the story is so well written, and the characters were so ‘real’ that I would have walked over hot coals to find out what happens. The drama, chemistry, emotion, and a little suspense was brilliantly woven through the storyline. Ms. Rowan certainly knows how to tell a great story- writing a complex, thought-provoking, moving, memorable, and engrossing story.
Enzo and Florian were the very best of friends, turned lovers, during high school. They kept their relationship secret, until a traumatic event shattered their lives, leaving Enzo deaf and the two on separate courses. Now, a chance encounter reunites the two- much has happened in their lives since they last saw one another, but the sparks are still there. Will they get their second chance, or is there too much in their way to overcome?
A beautiful story about friendship, overcoming obstacles, being true to yourself, self-discovery, second chances, love, pain, heartache, and so much more…..

Rebound is the fourth book in the Rewind Series by Rowan Shaw. It is, in my opinion, the ‘spiciest’ of the series so far. It could be read as a stand alone, but I highly recommend reading the rest of the series – or at the very least diving into “Return” (Book #2) before starting on this one- as a lot of character introductions and backstory is contained there.
As I mentioned, this book is a little different than the rest of the series, as this has a polyamorous/ bisexual romance- with both M/M and M/F scenes playing out throughout the story. I really didn’t know what to expect going into this book- but Rowan Shaw didn’t disappoint- grabbing my attention and pulling me in right from the beginning. As with her other books, this story is so well written- while managing to create truly realistic and believable characters and situations. I have said before, and this book is no different, that the author is a really great storyteller- writing a complex, thought-provoking, moving, and very memorable stories.
A wonderful addition to the series, holding its own against the rest of the pack- but a book with an energy, flavour, and personality all its own.

I can’t wait to see what Rowan Shaw does next!

Thank you, Rowan Shaw!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scoring Chance was a quick, easy, happy read! I loved how Eden went from poor and working a few jobs, going to school to try to better herself to having an easy life with amazing people around her helping her succeed!
Rhett knows Eden is like a piece of forbidden fruit to not be touched but he can’t get her out of his head.
Both Eden and Rhett have a dark past that is hard for them to deal with. Being Rhett is a hockey player, Eden knows she can never be in the stands to cheer him on because of her past.
This book was a great read and I loved how the story unfolded. I absolutely loved the characters and cannot wait for more from this author.

This interesting series is quite a bit different than the norm. It’s an action packed, suspenseful series about Jake Wolfe and his war dog Cody. I found Jake to be an exceptionally fun character. Someone I would love to have as a friend, or on my side if I was in trouble. And his dog Cody just made the story! I loved how the author wrote Cody’s point of view. While I will say, in my opinion, these were a bit longer than they needed to be due to some unnecessary filler, the bones of the stories and the characters themselves keep you interested enough to keep turning the pages. Give this one a chance and fall in love with Jake and Cody!

Her style of writing and word choices make it so you have the image in your mind as you read each page excited to see what happens next. In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Jana Teppih

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

In Other Words is the opening act of Pamela Q. Fernandes’ new Boothbay Harbor series. I had read couple of her books before and as I liked the way she presented the world and the issues we encounter, she was someone I kept my eye out for and here she comes with her new series! She is touching on some very sensitive matters and I admire the care and understanding she has while addressing them.
In Other Words gives us the story of Trish Hold, an adopted child from Korea and internationally acclaimed pianist who is searching for her identity. She needs to find her true roots and she has that inherent need to belong that so many adopted children have … while she has that need, she is not doing much about it in real sense … she has the need to be loved so she falls for anyone who shows her affection and most of us know what it means … it doesn’t last so the men leave her and it feeds the feeling of being unlovable … Enters Michael that has his own baggage, coming from the family that does not share a lot of love … and then you have the clash of expectations and needs and struggle and you will keep your fingers crossed to the last page, hoping …
I am curious to see what happens next in Boothbay Harbor and I am sure the writer will not disappoint us!

Taming Zane (Almost Perfect Series Book 2)Taming Zane by Lisa Lanay
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Taming Zane was a great story. It was entertaining, with a good storyline, and lots of romance. I really enjoyed reading the novel, and it even made me laugh a few times. However, it did seem like the storyline was typical ones I have read, and that kept me from getting as into it as I had hoped I would from reading the synopsis. I did highly enjoy it however, and want to read more from Lisa Lanay! I just personally expected a little more than what I got.
