Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story (The Daughters of Night Chronicles) by Matilda Reyes & Jennifer Siddoway – Review by Kerry Chalmers

Chasing StarlightChasing Starlight by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chasing Starlight. Cassandra’s Story. I really enjoyed reading this book. At the start of this story Cassandra (Cass) seems to be a shy and anxious young women, trying to deal with what life has thrown at her, she’s helped largely by her sister Halle and Cass starts to develop in confidence. Henry is a sweet young boy with a few troubles of his own and the relationship between him and Cass is heartwarming. I really hope there will be another book featuring Cass and Henry as I long to know what happens next.

Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley – Review by Karyn Taylor

Moonlit Mirage - A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series)Moonlit Mirage – A Cook Islands Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moonlit Mirage – A Cook Islands Romance is the first in a new Moonlit Destination series by the amazing Amy McKinley. I have become a huge fan of Amy McKinley, in particular her Gray Ghost series so did not hesitate to jump headfirst into this book. To my great delight I discovered it has a crossover to the Gray Ghost series with Hannah and Jack making an appearance.
This book is a novella so doesn’t go into the great depth that a typical Amy McKinley book will take you but she still managed to write a suspenseful story that gripped me straight away and kept me glued to the very end a few hours later. I did not put this book down until the very end.
The book has a very exciting start with Nadia helping Cade Malone escape from his car when he was driven off the road into a river. However Nadia slipped off as soon as she released Cade and he always wondered why she had done that. The events of that fateful night never left the 2 of them so when they met several years later they were drawn straight to each other.
In typical Amy McKinley style you just know that there is so much in both of their pasts that will both put them at danger and also blow apart any relationship that they might have forged with each other and this is no different. It’s filled with excitement, danger and romance. What more could you ask for?
If this novella is any indication of the series that will develop from this story then I can’t wait to see what delights Amy McKinley has in store. I, for one, will definitely be reading.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance is the first book in the Moonlit Destinations series by Amy McKinley. It’s a superb romantic suspense- with a bit of a crossover with The Gray Ghost Series. I love Ms. McKinley’s books, so it was a no-brainer when this popped up on my feed. But having The Gray Ghost connection made this book even more intriguing for me. This is right in Ms. McKinley’s wheelhouse- romantic suspense done right. We dive right into the action from the get-go, and I was definitely all in right from the very first page. The story has action, adventure, mystery, danger, suspense, romance, intrigue, emotion, spice- with plenty of dramatic and surprising developments that kept me glued to the pages.
You don’t need to have read The Gray Ghost series to fully follow and enjoy this book- but having read them I can vouch that they add a lot more ‘flavour’ to your overall reading experience of this book.
Now I am really looking forward to reading the rest of this series!!!

Thank you, Ms. McKinley!

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series Book 1) by Pamela Q. Fernandes – Review by Katie Matthews

In Other Words (Boothbay Harbor Series, #1)In Other Words by Pamela Q. Fernandes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love reading books by this author, I think that she has a lovely writing style and I am always transported to the places she is describing and into the lives of the characters who she is writing about. In Other Words was a story that had me turning the pages super-fast just so I could see what was going to happen next. It was full of angst and the characters had some complexities to their lives that made the story great to read. I couldn’t decide whether I wanted this couple to be together or not, I think that Michael was everything Trish didn’t need in her life considering her past relationship. The author really delved into the lives of these characters with an emotional tale and one that I really enjoyed reading – I felt like I was really involved in what was going on in the story!
As always I look forward to reading more from this author again and I highly recommend In Other Words to other readers!

Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley

5-Stars

Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley was an excellent novella. I finished this book in one sitting. Case was Nadia’s mark. She was supposed to kill him but saved him instead. Disappearing, their paths cross again years later. There is a strange connection neither can explain.

I loved Cade and Nadia. They were amazing. Nadia was so lethal. Having read many of the Gray Ghost books I understood the type of training she went through to become who she was. Cade was a hunk. I liked that he took care of himself and branched off on his own after the night of the crash. This story was excellently written with a good plot and climax. McKinley did an awesome job with characters and scenery. I highly recommend this book.

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin – Review by Liz Vrchota

Scoring Chance : A Mile High Miners NovellaScoring Chance : A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I seriously freaking love this book! I am such a huge nerd for sports jocks and the romances that can come from them so when I saw this gorgeous cover and the idea that it was a hockey alpha type read, i scooped it up without a single second thought. I am so glad that I did too!

In Scoring Chance we meet the Mile High Miners, a hockey team full of sexy and swoony men. This book focused on Rhett Crawford, one of the team’s goalies. Things become extra delectable when he meets Eden Snow, the teams captains live in nanny. This of course would seemingly make her seem completely off limits to Rhett, but temptation is a tricky little bugger. I loved how this book unfolded, and that it did so with a fast and smooth read. It is a novella type length so you would expect to set aside time to read this fab gem in one sitting if you are anything like myself. I couldn’t get enough of these two and I cannot wait until I get my hands on the next novel of the Mile High Miners!

Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story (The Daughters of Night Chronicles) by Matilda Reyes & Jennifer Siddoway – Review by Liz Vrchota

Chasing StarlightChasing Starlight by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story, and a what appears to be the first novel of the Daughters of Night Chronicles promises to be a fantastical story with fae, drama, and a laced positive message. The cover reels you in from the get go and is absolutely gorgeous. Now, I will be the first to admit that I am picky when it comes to the fantasy novels that I will read. Normally this is a topic or genre that can be a real hit or miss for me depending on how the book is written and the premise or underlying story lines. I sincerely wanted to absolutely love this book, but I just struggled with it so much. I hate giving low rated reviews but I this book needs more work before it should be properly read and reviewed. Again, this book is fabulous in the get go and has all the pieces that would make for a wonderful read but it has several areas that need work in order for that to be the actual case. I spotted lots of grammar errors and spelling errors but the real issue for me was the bouncing and ever changing fact contradiction. We had characters that names completely changed, obvious repetitive areas of information that just looked like it was missed in the editing process, and over all the story lacked a general polish. I felt as if I was reading a rough first maybe second draft. Again this book has all the potential to be great it just needs a bit of fine tuning. I would be more than happy to read and review again if that is ever the situation that this book finds itself. For now I will leave a three star review for the bones that have a good general direction, the fabulous cover, and the mere ability to make me read this book in whole when I was frustrated several times throughout.

I seriously love the suspenseful romances from Amy McKinley. I fell in love with her Grey Ghost series and was super excited when I found characters and small tidbits of it in this new series, the Moonlit Destination series. I loved how this book didn’t mess around, it just took off with a big jump and never slowed down until the final few chapters that brought it all together. This book read super quickly and was one that just kept you glued to the kindle until it was done. I loved how it was sort of a simpler read than past novels. Almost as if things were just simplified and not messy. The story was focused on a few things and didn’t branch in a million directions. I was enamored with the relationship that is featured between Nadia and Cade and it kept me rooting for them to find that happily ever after all the way until the end. I am excited to see what will come next in both this series and if we will get more in fact of the Grey Ghost peeps and stories that we love. I am sure that I will be in love with them just as much as I have before.

REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Liz Vrchota

Rewind Boxed SetRewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you are a fan like myself of series that build the depth of the story throughout the books, then you will definitely love the REWIND series from Rowan Shaw! She has brought to life characters that will sweep you off your feet and take you to places like Paris while she does it! I love that all three of the first books are now in a convenient place to get a great start on the series. Bonus of these box sets is the make fantastic gifts! Below are the reviews for each book.

REWIND: Book #1~

This novel was quite the debut novel for sure from Rowan Shaw. I feel quite pulled in multiple directions as far as my opinion goes still a few days after finishing this up. This was a dark and twisty, angsty, and well at times frustrating MM romance that had me captivated at times simply because I had to know what was going to come of it if anything. I see the beauty in the story here and truly found it within the struggling relationship between Enzo and Florian, I just think it struggled to fully get there for me anyways. The writing was strong though and the world building was beautiful, I would definitely be around to see what Rowan Shaw has in store for future novels!

RETURN: Book #2~

RETURN is the second book of the Rewind series from Rowan Shaw. I would recommend that you pick up book one first if you haven’t done so as this is where we first meet and see the lead, Raphael, and for me where I actually fell in love with his character. This book was a tad slower to me and I found myself struggling to get through the first bit. However, that did subside and I soon found myself needing to know what would become of the story.

This one brought the heat factor quite a bit, so fyi if that isn’t your thing it’s here. With that said, Rowan Shaw can sure write some awesome bedroom scenes, and truly I feel, does it with tact and grace. That is no easy feat, and I feel a lot of times it muddies the waters of a good LGBTQ novel. This is never the case here and I adored every second of it. I loved the growth that we got to see with Raphael. I found his story to be gripping and raw, something that I love in a good novel. I can’t wait to see what will come next!

REVIVE: Book #3~

Rowan Shaw has brought to life another beautiful and sweet couple that I just couldn’t get enough of in Revive. I might be a bit odd but I enjoy the premise of the story. Something about the situation makes it seem so much more realistic and I love reading about how things go down. The first two books in the series were a bit heavier reads as far as subject matter so this was also nice to have a bit more of an airy and light tone to it.

Brandon and Patrick really make Revive shine. These two had no idea that the one night stand that blew their minds would come full-circle the way it does. How do you keep a professional mind about your therapist when you realize you slept with them??? As you can imagine this left room for laughter and some pretty hefty emotions too. It was a well balanced though and I enjoyed the way I felt as if I was there with the characters. Shaw really can build up a scene and make you feel like you went on a magical adventure. I look forward to seeing what will come next from Rowan Shaw!

This is a short story filled with action. These two characters met in the past made a connection then met again in the future. Not sure if they will be able to overcome their past when all the cards are laid on the table.

Each of these characters have depth to them. More than I even thought. The story flowed along smoothly and drew me in. Overall it’s a easy read with suspense mixed in. I have read the Gray Ghost Series and this easily falls in line with those.

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin is my first book and it will not be my last. Martin does an amazing job of making her characters pop off the page. They are down to earth and you can see yourself being with the characters in the book. Her plot line kept my interest throughout the whole book. This story is about Rhett and Eden. Rhett is trying to make his way into the NHL. When Eden came into the picture that was a distraction that Rhett was not wanting right now. There is something else about Eden. It drives Rhett crazy. You will have to read the story to find out what Rhett does about Eden.

REWIND Boxed set (Rewind Series Books 1-4) By Rowan Shaw – Review by Sara Oxton

Rewind Boxed SetRewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Rewind Boxed Set by Rowan Shaw a great series of stories. All four stories are great in this boxed set.
Rewind by Rowan Shaw a five-star read that you will want to rewind and read again. It was refreshing reading this story, its set In France and I don’t get to read many stories set there, so it’s nice to see a different place. This is a beautiful but heart-breaking story, the one thing I did adore most was the way the author dealt with deafness and tragic circumstances, they really pull you into the story, making you feel the depth of pain, but showing you that there are ways out of the pain giving you pathways you may seek. I know not everyone likes M/M and if you don’t try to look past that as his is a beautiful story that you need to have in your life. Enzo and Florian have a love that will make you see past their gender.
Return by Rowan Shaw a five-star read that you won’t want to ever return. This has been a great series as its rare to find novels set in France and the beauty of the setting descriptions are well done and you enjoy them so much. The alternating POV can be a little troublesome at times, or maybe that’s just me, but on the other side it did give balance to the story. This may not be for everyone as it does show us amazing M/M scenes and it has an amazing depth that will surprise you, do give the series a go as you won’t be disappointed.
Revive This will surprise you, I was so empathetic towards Patrick and this surprised me as I didn’t enjoy his character previously, but this author has a way of making you really care about the people in these stories, makes you see people differently, make you think differently. It was steamier than I would normally have gone for in this genre, but the author has a way of making it an integral part of the story and just more compelling reading.
Rebound by Rowan Shaw. This is an interesting and challenging story and Noah has a journey to go on through this story and what a story it is, this is an emotional, gripping story and one you need to read. It rounds out the series nicely and you will enjoy this boxed set as every story place its part.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains, #2)Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander a five-star read that you will want to climb like a tree. This is number two in the Mountains series and it is best if you read number one first as this is a continuation of James and Sarah’s story. This is a story that will cause true conflict within your soul, James and Sarah in your heart you know they are destined to be together, but they aren’t. James is set to marry his high school sweetheart, because that’s what you do isn’t it… Especially when Sarah has moved on with Garrett, but even if we know they should be together, it doesn’t always make it so. That’s what I like about this author, the passion is there, but you don’t always get what you want, and also the way the characters interact with the secondary characters, that’s nice, its well done and adds depth to the story. Overall a very well-done story and a series you need in your life.

5 ++++++++ Stars

Oh my word!! WOW!! Not sure where to start with this review….

This is my second book by this author and I’m completely blown away, like sitting here trying to figure out what I just read. I have to confess that when I was at the very beginning I was a bit worried because I was more than a little confused as to what was happening, but that lasted about 5 minutes and then I was so fully immersed in this story that putting it down physically hurt…then at 5% left I closed the book and immediately went to see if the second was out yet because I was scared to death to finish it, I didn’t want to finish it! In looking for the second (which to my sadness is not out yet) I found the novella that came out last year..I quickly purchased that and will be starting that the second I’m done with this review.

No book I’ve ever read has matched a title more than this book! My mind is still all jacked up, there are so many moving parts of this story that take your emotions, squeezes the life out of them then twists them up and has you questioning so many things about how you feel about certain characters in this book. Then add in the twists and turns that have you spinning like a top and I’m telling you right now I feel completely raw.

I’m not even going to attempt to sum up this storyline…the author’s blurb is enough. I am going to attempt to convince anyone that loves to read to buy this book. I’d say buy the novella and this one even if I haven’t read the novella yet, I knew without a doubt I had to have it. Some of the content of this story was completely cringe worthy but that didn’t stop me from becoming completely invested in these characters.

I will be the first in line to buy the next book and will be stalking or I mean following this author everywhere waiting for news on the next!

As I mentioned above..Completely blown away with this authors writing style and the way she made me feel the emotions described.

PHENOMENAL!!

I loved reading Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I didn’t want to put it down until the last page. The book has romance and is at times suspenseful. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Nadia Bennett and Cade Malone. These two have a connection and strong feelings for each other. What does the future hold for Cade and Nadia? Will a secret from Nadia’s past destroy their chance at having a relationship? Read this book to find out. Nadia and Cade are characters that I couldn’t help but want them to find happiness. The story flows smoothly and the author writes in such a way the I feel like I am right there with the characters. Don’t miss out on reading this amazing book. I would highly recommend it.

Wow what a book. This is the first book ive read that I’ve felt so connected to thw characters that ive felt their love and their heartbreak.

Sarah is a single mum and a college professor. She always believes in a poly relationship so when she meets James she was honest and told him she didnt do commitment. She was looking for a friends with benefit.

What neither of them knew or could have seen is that their feelings for each other grow but while Sarah falls madly in love James is holding back.

James is in the army and when he get commissioned he tells Sarah which causes her heart to break. However the heartache gets worse when he tells her he has fallen in love with his old flame.

With James pursuing a relationship with her and leaving for 9 months Sarah is left heartbroken and struggling to cope.

This is the 1st book in Sarah and James story so is there hope that James can see the mistake and come back to Sarah or will it be too late and Sarah will have moved on? I cant wait to read the second one and continue the story.

Mountains Wanted is the first book in the Mountains Trilogy by Phoebe Alexander. It is a though provoking, wonderfully written, erotic contemporary romance.
This is the second time I have read this book, and have enjoyed it just as much as the first time. It is really well written, intriguing, passionate, erotic, funny, emotional, educational and entertaining. And once again, I was drawn into the story, investing in these characters and the outcome of it all.
This is a great start to a wonderful series, and while this book doesn’t have a cliff-hanger, as such, it does continue into the next book.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed reading light hearted book rooted in deep emotions. This books has ups and downs, twists and turns, but I didn’t find it too emotionally heavy. It does make you realize life is too short to hold grudges, especially when it comes to family. It also gives you an in depth perspective of how strong a sisters bond could be. You will read this booking asking yourself could these sisters forgive each other? Was the hurt and pain just to much to mend fences. I think no matter if you have a sister, small or big family everyone has dealt with unpleasant situations in their family dynamic. I felt that is how the book is very relatable even if the topic at hand is different. I will say while reading this book you don’t know whether you want to scream or cry. You will find yourself rooting for a magical love story to blossom but I will let you read the book and find out about Levi. Happy reading.

Mountains Wanted is the first installment of the Mountains series by Phoebe Alexander. I am not new to this author, I have read another of her series. I got this book because of the other books of hers I had previously read… she is such an amazing author. I had really high expectations for this book and was not at all disappointed. I loved every minute of this book from start to finish. Phoebe is an excellent author, who can really bring out some deeper thinking from her readers, which I admire. The characters in this book were all so charming and precious. The chemistry between the different couples was remarkable. I felt like I truly knew them, as if they were my personal friends. Sarah is a very smart and open minded individual. I love the relationships that she develops throughout the book. Her best friend, Rachel, is just a peach. She speaks her mind without a filter and I love it. I understood why Sarah would feel so connected to James while they were together and so distant while they were apart. It was fun watching their relationship grow. This book was everything I needed at the moment. I already have the second one and I’ll be reviewing that one soon.

It felt so good to catch up with the gang and see how everyone is doing and to meet new people. I love Lola! She was t at all what she seems at the beginning. Her personality comes out the better we get to know her and she’s a spunky one!

Jax needed to have his butt handed to him and thankfully it happened. I don’t understand why some guys are so dumb but they are and our job as women to educate them no matter the age of the female.

Ari is what I want my younger daughter to be like. Strong and independent, cautious with love but not so cautious she misses out on it. I love her Family and hope we see more if them in the future. (HINT, HINT!)

Loved this book and this series. Hope they don’t go anywhere anytime soon.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Covert Threat by Amy McKinley is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series.

This was the perfect book for me. It kept me guessing and revising what I thought was going to happen next and who was responsible for all of the weird stuff happening to Jules. I had a partially correct guess about a third of the way through but I whiffed on a few important details and I was totally okay with that.

I wish I could find someone like Trev to save me the way he saves Jules. Holy cow! But seriously, he is hot, a good guy and willing to anything to protect Jules.

If your looking for a book that will keep you guessing during the twists then I highly recommend this book.

Trev is a former Navy Seal who is hired to be Jules’ bodyguard. He’s gorgeous, built, smart, funny, and knows how he affects the opposite sex. Which is why he’s shocked that Jules seems to be able to resist his charms! Soon, they find out that Jules is in more trouble than first appeared. Can Trev figure out what’s going on and keep Jules safe all while trying to get her to see him as more than just a bodyguard?

Its the story of Dr. Sarah Lynde a Sociology Professor and single mom of 2 from 2 different dads. Oh and she LOVES sex! Army 1st Sergeant James McAllister never knows when he will be deployed again so he doesn’t do relationships! When he and Sarah meet they decide that they will be friends with benefits only. They will each meet a need the other one wants. That’s all, nothing less, nothing more but….feelings get involved. Sarah introduces James to swinging which adds a whole new dimension to the situation! Sarah is attracted to another Professor at the College she works at and James still has the hots for an old love! Once these people are introduced it adds a whole other level to their non relationship! Will their desire for each other win out or will their feelings get in the way? Read Mountains Wanted to find out. I’m so ready to read the next book now!

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin – Review by Kerry Baker

Scoring Chance : A Mile High Miners NovellaScoring Chance : A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scoring Chance by Lane Martin is a novella in the Mile High Miners series. This is the first book in the series and is a brilliant way to draw you into it.
I absolutely loved Rhett and Eden. They each had their flaws that made them the perfect compliment for each other.
Although this book is a novella it is a full length story and it has all the details and the development of a longer book. Lane Martin isn’t an author I am familiar with however after reading this book I will definitely be reading the rest of the series and any other work by this author.

Before the Second Show by Thia Finn – Review by Katie Matthews

Before the Second ShowBefore the Second Show by Thia Finn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

It’s been a while since I have read a good rock star romance story so when I saw this from Thia Finn I couldn’t wait to dive in – the blurb had me hooked before I have even begun. Thia Finn is also a new to me author so I was also really looking forward to reading something by someone new!
I loved this story! It has everything that I love in a rock star romance and there was a second chance element to the story too which was great too! I have to say I went into this story expecting one thing and I got something completely different! Poor Emmy! My heart broke for her so many times when it came to her feelings for Alex but I loved that she was so determined and motivated in other areas of her life.
Alex was everything I wanted and more from a rock star god! I am definitely a fan of his!! I loved that there were some unexpected things with his character like with the storyline – all of this definitely had me captivated by this read from beginning to end!
I would absolutely love this to become a series, there are so many secondary character who I would love to find out more about and I can definitely say I am very much looking forward to reading more from Thia Finn in the future!
