Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story (The Daughters of Night Chronicles) by Matilda Reyes & Jennifer Siddoway – Review by Erica Fish

Chasing StarlightChasing Starlight by Jennifer Siddoway
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Chasing Starlight: Cassandra’s Story is my first book by Matilda Reyes and Jennifer Siddoway. I will be reading more by these authors. I found myself lost within the pages of this book. Reyes and Siddoway attention to detail allows the reader to see what is happening within the pages of the book. This is a fantasy book and the characters are complex and adventurous. The story’s main character is Cassandra who is a strong female. She is getting her life in a routine whereas she is a teacher by day and a dream weaver by night. There is one small problem there is someone is hunting dream weavers. Will Cassandra be taken like so many others? You will have to read this short book. It is a fast read that you would want to finish in one sitting.

This is a new author for me. I wasn’t exactly sure what to expect with the synopsis and the cover. If for a second I thought this would be a run of the mill friends with benefits book- I was sorely mistaken. I love the depth of the characters – Sarah and James. The amount of emotion this book got from me was wonderful. I couldn’t put it down and cannot wait to read more from Phoebe Alexander. If you like steamy reads with detailed characters you grow to love- READ THIS BOOK!

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh – Review by Angela Hayes

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate StoryKing & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“Hunt,” Gabby greeted briskly.
It was clear by her tone she meant Hunt with a C.
“You promised,” Amy warned.
“What?” Gabby asked innocently. “Happy Birthday, Hunt.”
“Thanks, Gobby.”
Christian smiled at the twitch above her right eye, knowing he had scored another blow. He hated the way she called him Hunt. Everyone knew what she was really calling him. What bugged him the most was that over the years, she had somehow managed to make him hate his own last name.
He couldn’t stand Gabriella King.
….Even though he’d promised Amy to be on his best behaviour, he knew he would take any opportunity that presented itself to p*ss the woman off.

King & Hunt: A Lust/Hate Story by Brienne Dubh is a quick, easy enemies to lovers’ story, and made for a fun read.
The insults, barbs, quips, and verbal jousting between Christian and Gabriella, came quick and fast. There is no love lost between the two, no matter how sexy they may think the other is- they can’t stand each other. Can they? In any other situation, they could probably just avoid each other indefinitely- but Gabriella is Christian’s sisters’ best friend. Making their situation even more complicated. But what happens when they call a truce? And what about the “lusty” part of this book’s title? Well, you will just have to read “King & Hunt” and discover all the steamy details for yourself.
This story is definitely entertaining.
I wonder what Brienne Dubh has in store for us next?

Thank you, Brienne Dubh!

5-Stars

King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story By Brienne Dubh was a steamy short read. I finished this book in one sitting. It was addictive. Christian Hunt and Gabby King were enemies. They hated each other but put up with each other for Gabby’s best friend, Christian’s sister, Amy. After a run in with Gabby’s ex, and several drinks, something occurs that brings the two into a steamy set of events. The two can’t get enough of each other.

The storyline was fast paced and easy to read. I laughed several times while reading. I also loved the steamy scenes. This book was an excellent read that left me smiling at the end. I highly recommend it.

Mountains wanted mountains trilogy By Phoebe Alexander “Sarah knows she and James don’t want the same things, but he’s still a mountain she can’t resist climbing.”

Not my usual genre but still a good read. This had strong sexual content so I wouldn’t recommend it for anyone younger. The book goes between inner dialogue and the storyline, Dr. Sarah and James are great characters 🙂 Looking for a steamy read that keeps you turning the pages to find out what happens next? This is your book! Keeping in mind this is one book out of the trilogy! Collect them all.

By Brienne Dubh
5 out of 5 stars

I loved reading the story King & Hunt: A Lust / Hate Story by Brienne Dubh. It is a book that pulled me in right away and I didn’t want to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved reading about the characters of Christian Hunt and Gabriella King. Gabriella is strong, independent, sassy, and stubborn. One thing is for sure, she has a hate relationship with Christian. Christian is a man who never misses out on making a snide remark when it comes to Gabriella. A temporary truce was called, and an unplanned gesture has both of them questioning themselves. What does the future hold for Christian and Gabriella? Will the lust that they feel override their feelings of hate? Has their chemistry changed from hate to something more? Read this book to find out. This is a story that had me smiling and laughing out loud at the jabs that Gabriella and Christian throw at each other. There are also romantic moments that make the temperature in the room rise. This is a book that has a wonderful storyline and amazing characters. Don’t miss out on reading it. Highly recommended.

This is my first book by this author, I enjoyed it from beginning to end. I was pulled in right from the beginning and was kept engaged until the last page. This is a short story that is packed full of romance and steam. Christian and Gabrella have had a hate relationship forever until one day when they called a truce. What will happen when unexpected feelings start? Will they be able to go back to the way things were or will they let fate take over? They are great characters that bring the story to life. I enjoyed watching their relationship change and the struggles they go through. I highly recommend reading their story to find out what happens.

I have read a few books from this author and I absolutely love her. My favorite genre is military romance and she always exceeds all my expectations. This is the fifth book in the Gray Ghost series. You can read this as a stand-alone but there are previous characters in this story as well. I was so excited when I got this book. I stopped everything and started to read it immediately. I could not put this book down. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing story.

Jules Moretti is a specialist in infectious diseases. She loves her job. Jules is working on a top secret project. She knows what she is doing but something happens to her that makes her need a bodyguard. Jules thinks she knows all about the type of man that Trevor is but she quickly finds out she is dead wrong. She feels an amazing chemistry between her and the hunky bodyguard. Jules doesn’t know but she is getting herself into danger that she can’t even see. Christian Hunt and Gabriella King, have hated each other ever since they met back in collage. Over the years things have only gotten progressively worse, as they’ve let each other know exactly how much they really hate one another. The bad blood between them has put Gabby’s best friend, Amy, in an uncomfortable position as she also happens to be Christian’s sister. But when Amy has enough of her brother and best friend fighting, a temporary truce is called. When a spur of the moment gesture brings out an unexpected reaction, seeing a different side makes it harder for them to go back to the hate they’ve always known. Gabby is determined to hold out and find her way back to hate, while the unusually confident Christian is left unsure of what he should do and how to feel. As the line between lust and hate begins to blur, neither can predict where this journey will lead them, or if it’s worth being on the wrong side of the line when their crazy ride comes to its end.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Moonlit Mirage: A Cook Islands Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley is a romance suspense and a quick read but a good read. It is a side story from the Gray Ghost series and mentions a couple of the characters. The suspense is immediate and enticingly throws you right into a new world with characters you just love. It is sweet and uncertain as we journey along and become a part of the relationship between our MCs as they struggle with a past that could keep them apart.

I can’t wait to see what happens in this new series.

Mountains Climbed (Mountains Series #2) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Rosanna Ingram

Mountains Climbed (Mountains, #2)Mountains Climbed by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

James and Sarah’s story continues in this second book in The Mountains series. This book picks up where the first book, Mountains Wanted ended. James has begun his tour in Afghanistan and Sarah is left to pick up the pieces of her broken heart when James made his decision. The book alternates between their voices and follows them as they come to terms to with the decisions made while dealing with their feelings for each other.
While both James and Sarah have lingering feelings for each other, they are forced to move forward with the paths that they have chosen (or that were chosen for them). I found myself feeling the ups and downs with both characters as they continue through their lives. Sarah’s experiences made me laugh, swoon, cry, get angry, and feel betrayed…right alongside her. Same with James. He goes through some ups and downs in this book…and I felt every one of them.
The author has a way with words that pulls you into the story and makes you ride along with the characters as though you are in the same room with them. I think the real-life scenarios resonate with me and I find myself connecting with various aspects on a personal level. I devoured this book in one sitting…and you can bet I will be reading the next book to see what happens next with James and Sarah.

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series #1) by Phoebe Alexander – Review by Shani Kenny

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Sarah doesn’t shy away from what she wants, and she’s open to how her body and mind works. She’s not on the lookout for a new relationship, more of a friend with benefits concept that will keep her satisfied without the drama that can sometimes come into play with relationships. As a sociology professor, she’s learned how to keep her emotions out of her sexuality…mostly. A chance meeting with James at a coffee shop leads to a seminar meeting and then more. She’s open about what she wants, and isn’t afraid to tell him and show him. With their relationship, there are ups and downs, as well as questions each needs to answer. They’re falling into an open relationship that may have started out small, turns into something more and hotter quickly. She wants more, but has to figure if she wants more with James or Pawel or both and what do they want? It looks like we’ll find out more in book 2!

I have to say the author did an outstanding job of really showing body positivity and sexuality with Sarah particularly. In a world where multiple partner book genres are gaining more popularity, it’s fascinating to see a twist on it that is so well written and respectful. Even if multiples aren’t your favorite thing to read, this one grabs your attention and helps you to see deeper into the psyche of at least one person who is comfortable in their own body and mind. I love how the storyline is emotionally charged while steamy! I can’t wait to see what happens in the next book!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

REWIND BOXED SET (BOOK 1-4) by Rowan Shaw. In this set you get the first four books of this amazing series and I couldn’t get enough of the couples and their stories.

I’m not sure which one of the stories I loved more. Each story was different, in the way the couples meet and the problems they have trying to find their happiness but the one thing they have in common was they all fell deeply in love and were able to have a happy life.

I love how the author spotlights the love each one of the characters has for their partner and how even when they are shunned by family they learn what an amazing and supportive group of friends they have.

Each one of the characters will end up leave a piece of themselves with you. Thankfully you will see them recurring throughout the series.

Scoring Chance: A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin – Review by Elizabeth Sanchez

Scoring Chance : A Mile High Miners NovellaScoring Chance : A Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Scoring Chance is a Mile High Miners Novella by Lane Martin. It is the first book I have read by her as well as in the series, but I would read more. The book was very quick, short and to the point. However, it had enough details in it, that I really felt like I got to know the characters and it was a full story. There are several supporting characters that were developed, and at first it was hard to keep track. Some times the players were called by first name, some times last name and sometimes nick names. This made it hard to keep track at first, but it wasn’t too bad. I like that they mystery of Eden’s past was kept until toward the end of the book. We knew there was a questionable history, and a rough one, but not the details. That kept me engaged wanting to know more.
Rhett is a hockey player recently signed onto the NHL as a goalie, but he isn’t on the official roster. The team is only allowed 2, and he is the backup. This means he attends all the games, but has to sit in the stands with the fans. Eden is living in the apartment above Rhett’s team captain’s house. She had no plans to entertain boys, focused on finishing school. Before they even met, Eden was put off limits and Rhett was warned to stay away from her. But he couldn’t plan for or prevent the instant attraction he and Eden had. Their chemistry was off the charts and made it very hard for them both to keep their promises. Will they listen to their hearts or their heads?

The Flame and The Blade (Flame and Blade #1)The Flame and The Blade by Meredith Hart
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

An excellent book. The Flame and the Blade by Meredith Hart made me immediately regret that I am such a fast reader. The story was great, the world-building was great, the characters were awesome. The gradual burn of Lyria and Vethe’s relationship is intense, can’t tell you how that turns out without spoiling the book. This is my first Meredith Hart book, but I can tell you it won’t be my last. Can’t wait for more of the adventure with the characters I’ve met in this story. I will be looking up her other books and you should too. I was so disappointed when I came to the end. I was ready to read more. There is one scene that is rather hot and steamy, may be uncomfortable for some but it comes in very subtle and is tastefully done. I will be reading the next book.

Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1)Mountains Wanted by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mountains Wanted is book 1 of the series. What a way to start a series off. Wow this book was definitely a 5++ star read.
Those of you who know Phoebe’s reading should expect nothing but top notch! She has become one of my go to authors and she never disappoints us. This book has some amazing main characters and some pretty good supporting character also.
Sarah and James are both likable from the very beginning. I love how Sarah is a grown woman who has been around the block once or twice, has a good head on her shoulders and knows what she wants.
James is a tad younger then Sarah but you would never know it if the author didn’t tell us that. Sarah and James meet one day at a lecture. However they have seen each other before that. When Sarah saw him at a coffee shop previously, she didn’t hesitate to check him out from head to toe.
When James and Sarah get together, it’s as friends with benefits but does it ever really stay that way in the book world? These two have such chemistry, your kindle will be on fire as you read it.
There were so many good parts in this book and I don’t want to give any spoilers away. There’s a lot of depth to this book and you will enjoy reading about everything. Sarah’s best friend, Sarah’s children and we can’t forget James and his family.
Mountains wanted is packing lots of heat and will leave you begging for more.

Alexander is an emotional rollercoaster genius. I seriously love these books and sometimes want to threaten the author with all of the ups and downs we traverse in her stories. But they are so beautifully written. They resonate deeply and truly shine relative to deep love. This book is exactly what you should expect from reading the summary. The characters are beautifully written and love following characters we have gotten to know before. Just an amazing book. I cannot wait to continue the series!!!

Scoring Chance by Lane Martin is a novella. In the Mile High Miners series. I really enjoyed this novella. Usually I have a hard time because in novellas the story is so short it can be difficult to connect with the character. It was not the case Scoring Chance. Martin gives you enough backstory for you to connect and keeps you interested in the story.
The story revolves around Rhett Crawford and Eden Snow. Rhett is the teams new goalie and Eden snow is the teams captains live-in nanny. The moment Rhett sees Eden he has to get to know her. Eden and Rhett both come from troubled adolescent years. I don’t want to say too much more and give away too much of the story. This novella is definitely worth reading.

I absolutely love Phoebe Alexander’s books! She always brings something new with every story she writes.

The story of Sarah and James will suck you right in from the beginning! I absolutely LOVED Sarah. She is completely liberated and really shows how woman should feel instead of being shamed in today’s society. Sarah and James were the perfect fit but both have different opinions about what it takes to build a relationship. Neither one is wrong but they need to navigate through their own views and not worry about what society considers to be right!

I loved the struggle and the different topics this book brought up. It really makes you think about things in a different light and I cannot wait to dive into book 2!

This book was a bit different than anything I’ve read. While I’m semi-familiar with polyamory, I’ve never read anything in regards to it. Sarah meets James, a lieutenant. They have great sexual chemistry, regular chemistry as well. She meets Pawel next, a colleague who she finds out is married and in an open relationship. What follows is a story between the 3 that you have to read to completely understand.
Phoebe took a taboo and perhaps a confused and even misunderstood subject and made it something worth reading. I can to wait to dive into the next book!!

I didn’t realise before starting this story that it had a crossover with the authors Gray Ghost series, which is a series I already love. However I soon figured it out and it made this book automatically better.
This book had all the things I have come to expect from this author – intrigue, suspense, action, romance. It hooked me immediately and I couldn’t put it down once I had started. Mountains Wanted (Mountains Series Book 1) by Phoebe Alexander
4 of 5 Stars
Dr. Sarah Lynde is a University Sociology Professor and a single mum to a teenage daughter and younger son. Having given a speech one evening at a ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell Panel event’ Sarah meets Army First Sergeant James McAllister. They both feel some chemistry but neither one is looking for a relationship and so agree to being friends, with benefits. However the more they see of each other the more complicated their feelings for one another become and they start to wonder if they could ever have more of a relationship than just meeting each other’s needs.
This is a romance with a difference, it is not your usual ‘normal’ committed and monogamous relationship but something a bit more complex but just as real. I love the main characters of Sarah and James, and how their relationship develops during the story and how honest the characters are about their feelings and their more open relationship based on great sex.
The book states it is for 18+ and the sex scenes are ‘hot’ and explicit but are part of the overall romance between Sarah and James. I love the fact that the main character, Sarah is a modern obviously intelligent Dr as well as a working single Mum who is not ashamed that she likes sex. It is refreshing to read a book in which the women isn’t afraid to go after the man she wants and lay down her terms, basically sex but with no commitment, at least that is what Sarah wanted at the beginning of her relationship with James.
I read this book in big chunks as I could not put it down and even when I wasn’t reading it I was thinking about the storyline, always a sign of a good book. This is a modern romance with likeable and realistic characters, which portrays ‘real’ women and has a great storyline to follow as well as scorching sex scenes, what’s not to love!
I’m looking forward to continuing Sarah and James story in Mountains Climbed and Mountains Loved.
