My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I enjoy her writing skills that make her stories come to life on every page. Her characters are written with a lot of spunk and heart. This book is no different. This is a well written story about Seraphina and a hockey player that she has failed a couple of times in the past. She is determined not to fail him a third time. This is a great romance story that is fast paced and hard to put down. A story where the author used details to make the story realistic which I had no problems picturing myself in this story. The characters are relatable and add so much to the story. They have great growth and chemistry throughout. They pull you into their story with ease and keep you there until the end. I really enjoyed this book and I think you will as well. I highly recommend this book.

Seraphina is the fourth book in the Heartstrings series by Brooke May. Even though this is the fourth book in the series, you don’t have to have read the first three books in order to enjoy this one. Each book in the series focuses on one of ‘Cupid’s’ chosen ones- we follow as a member of his team helps humans find love. But, in saying that, each book is a great read in its own right, and reading the entire series helps to build a better understanding and appreciation of the stories.
We have met Seraphina in the previous books, and to be quite honest from those ‘interactions’, I really wasn’t sure I was going to ‘like’ her enough to enjoy this story or be able to ‘invest’ in it. But I need not have worried as Ms. May ensured that she won me over- as did Seth and Marron- Seraphina’s assignment.
I love how Ms. May has crafted such wonderfully quirky characters who each have their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws. Seraphina was so much more than she first appears- which made this story all the more fun to follow.
This is a fairly light-hearted and fun paranormal romance with cupids, drama, chemistry, connection, redemption, and emotion. Will Seraphina succeed in finding a love match for a scandal riddled hockey player? You really should read all the engrossing developments for yourself.
Looking forward to Book #5!

Thank you, Brooke May!

Seraphina has had it with her task of cupid and her target Seth Maxwell. He is a tabloid nightmare and more difficult to match then she thought possible. Seraphina has a plan though to make the perfect match, will Seth find his happily ever after or will Seraphina fail at the match?

Fun read. I liked that Seraphina was different then than what you would expect from Cupid. Seth is an entertaining bad boy who is not happy with the changes he has to make. Great read for the holidays.

SeraphinaSeraphina by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I’m very familiar with this author, so I didn’t hesitate to give this book a shot. Seraphina is a sweet story. A bad boy finding his way again. With some romance thrown in.
How would you feel if Cupid/a Cupid helper ended up on your doorstep?
Well that’s exactly what happens in this story.
Seraphina ends up on the doorstep of the one man she’s tried to help twice and failed.
Is the 3rd time the charm?
Seth is a hockey bad boy. He’s constantly receiving bad publicity. He only cares about himself. He is a selfish teammate. Yet these are all qualities he’s developed over the years. He was never this guy when his grandmother was alive.
Can he be reformed?
Mallen is one of the many who helps keep Greater Chances up and running. For kids that don’t have the same advantages due to their families social/financial standing in society. So one day when a hot shot hockey player comes in from the local pro-team she has every reason to be skeptical. What is he getting out of this?
It wasn’t until Cupid’s Helper revealed herself that she learned the true purpose of what’s in play.
However, is that enough?
Can the character’s in play keep their ego in check for the greater good of the story?
You will just have to read and find out!

I’ve read a few of Brooke May’s previous books and really enjoyed them. This series did not disappoint! It was such a cute and funny story. Quick and enjoyable read! Another of Cupid’s helper is Seraphina, quick to anger and thrown into quite a challenge for her next assignment. A popular hockey play for all the wrong reasons. Seth does a much better job at finding trouble rather than finding love. Quite a comical journey to getting to where he is at to where he needs to be.

I’ve read a few of Brooke May’s previous books and really enjoyed them. This series did not disappoint! It was such a cute and funny story. Quick and enjoyable read! Definitely to read books in order to make better sense of tidbits along the way. Another one of Cupid’s helpers, Malayeka, has been helping with matching her humans with such an impact that its effects are still felt two centuries in a small village dealing amongst feuding families. Reminds some of the essence behind a pair of a famous pair of star crossed lovers. In the midst of this feuding, there is a pair of strong heartstrings that are strongly connected but is Malayeka up to the challenge to bring them together?

I’ve read a few of Brooke May’s previous books and really enjoyed them. This series did not disappoint! It was such a cute and funny story. Quick and enjoyable read! Faida, another one of Cupid’s helpers, has got more of an icy exterior due to her past experiences of matching. On her new matching assignment, she is paired with Robert and his heartstring is strongest with that of his daughter. Being a single dad brings you closer to your children for sure! With this challenge that Faida faces, she must find a way to make sure Robert can find his love match before it’s too late. I highly suggest reading this series in order as tidbits here and there make more sense as you progress along with each book.

It’s been a while since I have enjoyed the goings on of the Brookes Cupid’s and was excited when I saw this new book out. These Cupids have all the right intensions but not everything goes to plan. You will fall in love with them and their quirky ways.
Seraphina is the fourth book in the wonderful romantic comedy The Heartstrings Series. The books in this series are funny, fun, original and refreshing.
This story that drew me in from the start and I found myself getting lost in the story. It’s easy to get lost in the story and you can’t help but fall in love with this quirky cupid. Laughing out loud with her antics as she tries to right her wrongs.
Seraphina is not like the other cupids; she is fiery and sassy and is determined to help this hockey superstar who is full of himself find love. If it means she has to knock him over the head with whatever she has to get him off his high and mighty pedestal she will.
Seth thinks he is all that but all that has gotten him in trouble on more than one occasion, not that he cares. Let the mayhem begin!
Grab a drink and settle in for an entertaining afternoon read.

I absolutely adore the Cupid series. Seraphina had me chuckling. She’s a little grumpy because she’s stuck with Josh again. She’s tried twice to match him to no avail. Maybe the third time will be the charm. I found this story quite entertaining. You felt like you were right there, whether it was with Seraphina, Seth, or Marron. It’s humorous and serious at the same time. As a society, there is a fascination with celebrities. We want to see and imagine what it’s like to have what they have. I enjoyed this story because it fed that fascination. Seraphina brings together two people with their own sets of issues and it somehow all worked out fine after some guided adventures. It can be read as a standalone. I recommend the whole series. They are all wonderful.

Cupids are thought to be jovial creatures, sent to help humans find their perfect love match.

Seraphina is far from the jovial type. Quick to find her temper rather than the serenity her sisters possess, she’s about to be given the test of her eternal life.

Seth Maxwell is a hockey superstar. The best in the world. From the Olympics to the league he plays on, he’s become a household name. But not in a good way. Known for not being a team player and ending up in one scandal after another with starlets, Seth needs a massive makeover.

And we aren’t talking about his looks.

Unfortunately for Seraphina, this isn’t her first encounter with the hockey player. Not that he would remember any of it.

They say the third time is the charm and Seraphina is determined now more than ever before to prove she has what it takes to help a man she’s failed in the past.

Let’s just hope Seth is willing to get off that pedestal he’s placed himself on to see what a good thing Seraphina is helping guide him to.

Forget the mythical bow and arrow, Seraphina is about to pull out all the stops to make Seth’s love connection stick.

One of the things I enjoy most about this author is her writing skills and her ability to pull me into her stories. This book is no different. This is a well written story about giving love another chance. The characters are written with a lot of heart and soul. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story which made the story easy to read. I found them to be relatable and had no problems picturing myself in their world. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is hard to put down. I highly recommend this book and this author.

Faida (Heartstrings Book 2) by Brooke May – Review by Tia Martel

FaidaFaida by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The idea of Cupid using arrows is just a myth. He has help. Faida is one of the six assistant cupids. She’s been doing this job for forever and after too many jaded love stories she’s over love. It’s kinda hard for a Cupid to be done with love so on to the next assignment she goes.

Robert Peters has been hurt by past love and has sworn off all women, except for his daughter. Will Faida be able to soothe her own hurt in order to help Robert find his true love?

This was adorable! Faida realizing she needs to find out what love is really about grabs your heartstrings if you’ve ever been hurt before. I felt this book flowed nicely and was a great read. It’s obvious the author has reached a strong groove in the storyline of these cupids in this book.

I enjoyed reading this and how we see a limitation in the cupids powers to hide from children. This one was less confusing and I found it to be more entertaining as a result. There were still a few errors that could use some ironing out, but nothing that wasn’t a complete turn off from the book.

Aiko (Heartstrings Book 1) by Brooke May – Review by Tia Martel

AikoAiko by Brooke May
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Cupid doesn’t work alone. He has six assistants and Aiko is just one of them. Buuut Aiko is a little rough to say the least. Her helping couples find love has lead to some very questionable situations and once or twice she’s been banned from helping humans. Now, for her first return to helping in nearly 50 years, she’s gotta help a man who may be more disastrous in love than she is.

Alejandro Gomez has it all when it comes to looks, but when it comes to love? He’s a mess. Can Aiko help Alejandro find himself and find love?

I loved the idea of this book. A Cupid helping humans find love: great. A Clumsy, tried-too-hard Cupid aiming for redemption: awesome. Unfortunately, the book didn’t hit all of the points I was hoping for.

I found the start of the book to be hard to follow when Aiko was narrating and commenting on Alejandro’s disaster. This cleared up some as the book went on and the author found a rhythm in the story she’s telling.

In other areas, I felt that there were several mistakes in editing that lead to me needing to re-read or spend a little more time on the section to determine what was being said.

Throughout the book there were some really good parts and Aiko was a great character and you could really feel for her when something went wrong. I feel that the errors and beginning of the book really made it hard for me to follow at first, but I’m willing to try again with hook 2 of the cupids.

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3) by Brooke May – Review by Tia Martel

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Cupid can’t do it all. So while he’s busy, his six assistants are helping humans find true love. Malayeka is one of those assistants.

Two centuries ago Malayeka helped a family and today the repercussions are still stinging the small village clans. Malayeka is certain she can still complete this assignment and is determined to help her charge find love. But when the Reids and Thomsons feud is in front of her, she’s even more determined to help straighten things out.

A divided town, fighting families, and a love that is reminiscent of Shakespeare? What else could go wrong?

Book 3 was charming and quaint and very relatable when it comes to the love of sugar and sweets. In this book, Malayeka is given an assignment similar to one she’s had before, and even in the same town.

Our star crossed lovers are Billie and Leo. Two sides of a feuding town, and secret friends since childhood. It’s obvious there’s more to the story almost immediately and Malayeka is determined to not let history repeat and to help clean up a mess this towns been fighting for centuries.

This was a fun, entertaining read with a few mistakes throughout but enjoyable nonetheless. There were hints mentioned throughout that make me hope for more books. I mean with six assistants we have to have at least six books, right? But please tell me we will hear more about the hints throughout!

A unique idea with well known storylines has worked well so far, and I will be watching for more.

This is another fun-loving comedic romance that reads pretty quickly. I’m finding this series to be going well and I look forward to reading more!

Aiko is quite possibly the worst choice Cupid could have made in an assistant. He needs some help though and Aiko is looking to make up for some past wrongs. When she runs into Alejandro, she has a newfound determination to do right for once. After all, she’s been eyeing him lately anyway.

This is a lighthearted, clean romantic comedy that is a bit of a welcome relief after some heavy reading and things that have been going on in my life. This is also a new-to-me author but not for long as I’m looking forward to reading more of her work in this series.

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)

As soon as I started reading this book I thought Hatfield & McCoy. I wasn’t far off, but this has an international flair to it.

Mala has played with this family in the past and wasn’t surprised things hadn’t changed much . She’s on a mission and is determined to be successful.

I was hesitant to read this book since I hadn’t read the others in the series but I’m so glad I did.

Billie and Leo dealt with the bad blood well, most of the time. I thought they were adorable and deserved happiness. Mala was most definitely my spirit cupid with the sweet tooth, if I were only as lucky as she was.

This was a very quick read and worth the time.

This was such an adorable story! It’s part of a series, but it can absolutely be read as a standalone. We meet Malayeka, an ethereal being or angel, who, along with her with her five “sisters”, work for Cupid to help him with his workload in helping people fall in love. Malayeka is given an assignment to help two people fall in love, Billie Reid and Leo Thomson. The catch, they live in a small town and their families have been feuding for decades and it’s ugly. I loved how well written the characters were and Malayeka was hilarious in her efforts to help them fall in love. I found the story flowed well and had a use of both humor and heart. Highly recommended!

This is the third book in this series and just as the previous two, I was in love by the end of the first chapter. The author did an excellent job keeping you from wanting to put this book down. She did a phenomenal job with her characterization. I personally felt as if I knew these characters. I thought she did an amazing job building the story, so I was able to visually view the world around me. I loved how she weaved the story into a lesson that everyone needs to know which is how one small mistake can impact so many lives and individuals. Malayeka (A Heartstrings Book) by Brooke May – Review by Roxsanne Lesieur.

Malayeka (Heartstrings Book 3)Malayeka by Brooke May
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Malayeka is a Cupid, or at least, she is part of a team who aid Cupid in bringing humans together in true love bonds, but it is not as simple as it sounds, however, Malayeka does love her job and when she receives her next assignment, she is looking forward to getting started, even though it is not the first time she has been to the place she is being sent.

Two centuries before, Malayeka had been assigned a couple, but it did not go as smoothly as planned and it created a rivalry more thorough than certain ones mentioned in a certain play, so now she is back, she wants to get the lay of the land, in a manner of speaking. Unfortunately, the first thing she sees are two grandpa’s in boats on a pond threatening each other with shotguns, the next thing she sees is the town the two families live in and the literal divide it has created, with the Thompson’s on one side and the Reid’s on the other. The atmosphere is tense as she walks down the middle of the street while being hailed into shops by both sides, but there is only one she is looking for and that is a bakery, this is where she meets Billie, the owner, the first of her pair.

As Malayeka is introducing herself, the bakery suddenly is full of chaos with two men stood outside laughing, this is where Malayeka meets Leo, the other half of her assignment and this is where she realises the extent to what she will have to overcome to bring the two together. With her favourite sweet treat of a cookie in hand, Malayeka starts to make a plan to bring the two and their families together, but will the past repeat itself, or will the future be as sweet as the cookies she loves to eat? This is a sweet romance in every way, which is full of rivalries, loyalties and strong personalities in this tale of fate, romance and feuds.

Malayeka has her work cut out for her. She loves her job as a helper for Cupid. But as usual it’s not that easy of a job. She must deal with feuding families and a town who has their sides they are on. How is she supposed to get them together? What about Billie and Leo? Will they be able to bring the families and the town peace and form unity? This is a quick read filled with romance and I could not put it down. It is fast paced and exciting to read. Malayeka is the third book in the Heartstrings Series and is a Contemporary Romance that once you start reading there’s no stopping until you finish. I literally read this in one sitting because I had to know what was going to happen. This is a story about Malayeka and she’s a cupid on a mission to right her wrongs from years ago. She’s set out to set things right but will she accomplish or is it really to late? Can Mala redeem herself? I highly recommend reading this book to find out how everything plays out. The characters are fun developed and relatable plus they bring the story to life. Short, sweet, great read. Such a sweet concept of there being helpers for Cupid, to bring people together. I love a good feud, this one was to the point and resolved nicely. I really did have a little hate for Billy’s mom, the way she guilt tripped her over her grandfather and the way she was living her life hurt my heart for her and her future with Leo. It was nice to see Billy and Leo put their feet down and say enough is enough. Nice clean romance.

Malayka is the third installment in the Heartstrings series. You should read Aiko and Faida in order before this book. I like how the author writes a short review of the story in a way that doesn’t seem repetitive at the beginning of each story. The two individuals who have connected heartstrings are from opposite sides of the crosstown rivalry. This feud between the Thompson and Reid families has been in existence multiple generations before Billie and Leopold were born. From the start Billie who meets Malayka in her bakery seems frustrated with the townspeople’s behavior when Leo and his cousin let some sheep loose in the bakery. These stories are a quick read and an easy escape.
