I loved reading this historical story. This is an author that I have loved reading from the first book I picked up. I never hesitate to pick up her books for sure. This is a well written story where the author’s writing skills make the story come to life. Her attention to details made her stories realistic. This book is no different. This is a story that takes place during a time when the Germans reach France. This is a story that is written with a lot of heart and the characters emotional. A story of courage and the determination to protect a family. I enjoyed the characters and what they brought to the story. They are connectable and made the story easy and hard to put down. There is great growth of the characters and the plot throughout the story that made it entertaining. A must read story. I highly recommend this book and this author.

My favorite era of historical fiction to read is World War Two. This book is set in a rural village of France, during the Nazi occupation. Readers follow the faith of one family, and one family member in particular. This family member eventually becomes the letter carrier for her village, and it is from this that the book’s title is derived. Heartache, love, reunions, brutality- through it all, faith is what sustains the main character.

The Letter Carrier by L.C. Lewis. I really enjoyed this book. I’m on a WWII kick so I was excited to read this one and it did not disappoint. The story is told thru the eyes of 11 year old Michelle Naget who is French and lives in the village of Braquis. The Nazi’s took everything from her family including her home. Her family had to serve the Nazi’s in their own home. I have learned so much reading these books about WWII and how horrible the Nazi’s treated everyone. Michelle never knew if they were going to have food to eat, water to drink or even if certain family was still alive. The abuse, emotional, physical and mentally is almost too much to bear but she survives. Holding onto her faith Michelle endures it all and comes out a very strong woman. The author writes in a way that I truly felt like I was in war torn France. I flew thru this book as quick as I could read!

This is a nonfiction biography that will truly give you a look into the WWII from when the Germans invaded France. Michelle tells us about the struggles she and her family faced in trying to just stay safe and alive. There were many struggles: not knowing if family members were alive; not knowing if they were going to have enough of anything to survive; etc. This is an emotional book because it is true. You will feel the feelings. They are trying to escape and the Germans are shooting at the road they are on while her mom is trying to deliver a friend’s baby. The one constant in this story si that Michelle never loses her faith in God. She knows that He will take care of them and provide. She was a strong child, who turned into a strong young woman and woman. She persevered a lot. She fought with the resistance. She was an amazing woman. I especially loved the letter from her daughter telling how her life turned out. I can’t describe how much this book touched me. I had great-grandparents that escaped the concentration camps so I have always read personal stories from that time in history. I want to thank the author and Michelle for sharing that story. I truly with I could give more than 5 stars. This is the best nonfiction book of 2022 that I have read this year.

Laurie L.C. Lewis is one writer that brings out all the feels in her work. The Letter Carrier is an historical fiction tale based on true events. It is raw, horrifying, compelling and sad story. It is set back in time when the Nazi invaded France and World War II. A time when you never knew if you would live or die by the hands of someone else. It reached into my heart and left me battered and bruised.

Michelle Naget a young French girl lived through Nazi Germany invading France and her village Braquis. The atrocities she and her family saw as they were made to serve the Nazi’s. This is her story as she endured many things no one should have to for four years.

A brilliant story that stays with you.

But their flight ends in capture by the Nazis, with one member of the family taken, while the rest of the family is sent back to their village of Braquis, France, to serve the enemy who has commandeered their home.

Premeditated: Betrayal of Trust
By Susanna Haymond
5*

This is a page turning suspense that I really had a hard time putting down. In this story, anti-drug activists are being found overdosed or nearly overdosed on kronilian. The perpetrators are working to take down people who are not only drug activists but people who work closely with the DEA. This makes this case even more urgent.
As the agents, Grant and Josh are working hard to determine who might want to take down these anti-drug activists. They find themselves enlisting the help of a former DEA agent who now works for the FBI. When a very close friend of Grant and Josh finds themselves dosed with the kronilian and needing to be in protective custody, they find they have to ask their new partner for help. But what happens when it seems that there is a leak within the agents. Who can they trust? Will they be able to stop these perpetrators?
This book was very well written and definitely kept me guessing until the end. I would recommend this to anyone who enjoys suspense novels.

The death of a drug rehab director, the addiction of Anne, and many others that was not caused by their own choosing. How does one become so addicted to a controlled substance without one’s knowledge? That is a great question and one that eventually gets answered in the book PREMEDITATED. There are so many well written characters in the book and each one is so real that the book feels very authentic. This book was a page turner from the very beginning until the last word! It was fun to follow along and try to decipher who the person is that is behind the addictions, murders, and attempted murders. You will not be disappointed! There are a lot of great twists and turns and at the end I was surprised at the person behind the plot! Great read, exceptional characters, and a great Christian read that I thoroughly enjoyed!

Who do you turn to when everything you believe in is being attacked?

Someone is after the people trying to get the drugs off the street and anyone who might stand in their way. When one incident turns into a string of possibly drug-related crimes, it’s up to the DEA to find out who is giving out this much Kronilan. As they work to clear the streets, they find their friends under attack and now it’s gotten personal.

It’s a race against time and distribution to see if the DEA can stop the Kronilan before everything falls apart.

I don’t typically go for the religious romance genre, but decided to give this book a shot because I love a good romantic suspense. While it wasn’t 100% something I’d choose, it was enjoyable as a whole. Despite some errors with character names and time discrepancies, the plot and building of the storyline were well thought out and enjoyable. This was my first book by this author, so I’m curious if book 1 would have answered some of my questions while reading.

Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I felt that the twists in the ending were well done, and I definitely didn’t see it coming. I’d definitely be willing to check out more from this series.

I enjoyed the cleanness of this book. It wasn’t filled with curse words or with sex which was refreshing. For the most part, the story followed Anne Sherril. Anne is an activist fighting against drugs. Then she herself is injected with drugs against her will, and she becomes addicted. The story follows her battle against the addiction, as well as law enforcement racing to find who is changing medicine out for drugs. Overall, it was a good suspenseful mystery. I loved the reminders about not being given up on and not giving up on yourself. I never saw the twist at the end! Great book!

Anne is a strong voice to end drugs on the street and educate kids on a better way and give them better options in life. Someone is trying to destroy all her work.
However when she ends up at the doctor feeling unwell and reccomended for b12 shots her world is turned upside down with sabotage and secrets.
Josh and Grant, DEA agents have been working a case for months in this same community. Grant has personal ties with Anne and they are close friends so when she’s dragged into the case they are working it’s personal.
This book had a stunning end you just don’t see coming. I generally predict endings long before they happen and this one left my jaw hanging open. Highly reccomended!

When I read the description it was not my typical read but wanted to give it a try and I am happy I did. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I really enjoyed the storyline. If you like thrillers and unpredictable plot twists this book is for you. You will not be able to put this down while trying to figure out who is behind the drug overdoses.
Grant and Josh are DEA agents tasked with piecing together a string of overdoses involving the very people fighting to stop overdoses. Anne, who is attempting to rid the streets of drugs gets entangled with the very drug she is trying to get off the streets. When it becomes personal for Grant he will do everything to put the mastermind behind bars.
If thrillers, crime, and on-the-edge-of-your-seat books are your thing this book is for you! I can’t wait to pick up the next book by this author.

The street drug “Kronilan” is over running the streets, so much so that the FBI and DEA have agents in place. DEA agents Grant Rourke and Josh McKenzie are working to try to solve the mystery of where its coming from and who is at the root of distribution. This drug has also led to members of the community trying to help users realize they have other options. Soon these advocates start displaying signs of being users themselves, some with deadly consequences.
Anne is one such advocate, the fiancee of an ex- DEA agent, an agent who use to partner one of the agents in charge, Rourke, making the case even more personal. Will Anne get the help she needs? Will Grant and Josh solve the case before more people or injured or worse?

This is the first book by Hammond that I picked up and I have to say it is worth the read. The characters were well developed. The story line was easy to follow, flowed well, and pulled you into the story. The story was also very realistic and believable. I truly enjoyed the book and can’t wait to see what comes next from Haymond.

Partially a novel about “who dun it” and partially a novel about “who is ___ really?” I have to say I was NOT expecting the outcome.

Enjoyed this semi-murder mystery novel. A highly addictive street drug is being fought against by pillars in the community, and when those pillars start showing symptoms of having taken the drug, or even dying because of it, the authorities have to wonder why and how. When the DEA (Drug Enforcement Agency) and the FBI get involved they will get to the bottom of who is knocking those pillars down, sometimes to six feet under.

I had to demote my rating to 4 stars because the novel is written in third person and it was sometimes hard for me to follow who it was talking about when the internal thoughts or feeling arose.

I did like that we got to see a few “main characters” throughout the novel, such as Anne, Ashley, Josh, Grant, and more. Each character had their specialty which brought more information to the table to help figure out the who and why of the crimes.

The novel certainly lives up to its name, with the perpetrator meaning to hurt certain people for their own gain. Also lives up to it’s description of being a Christian suspense, with statements like “praise God” or “it’s God’s will” at times, and the book starting with two bible passages, but it’s not overwhelming so someone not of the Christian faith can also enjoy the book.

There is some explicitness in the novel, such as shootouts and descriptions of overdosing, as well as murder, but I found those scenes to be well done and didn’t find it overly graphic.

CW: murder, overdose, drug use, kidnapping, assault, gun use.

PREMEDITATED: A Trust Betrayed, Lives Sabotaged, A Love Undaunted (Agents of Justice Book 2) by Susanna Haymond. This is such a good read. It was nice to be able to read a crime story without all the horrible language. This is the story of Anne who is trying as hard as she can to combat the drug problem in her town. She wants to show kids an alternative life to drugs. When she starts taking B12 shots from her DR she begins to feel bad, not better. Grant and Josh are the local DEA agents and they are doing all they can to bring down the local drug lord. Grant is very good friends with Ann so it hits personally for him. Ann begins to become addicted to the B12 shots and craves them. She realizes there is something sinister going on. People begin to die from overdoses and the more that the DEA’s close in they begin to target the agents and their families. Will they be able to get these people behind bars before more innocent people die? This is such a good, fast paced thrilling read!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Premeditated was a wonderful read full of twists and turns. Although I didn’t read the 1st book in the series it was easy to follow along with all of the characters and their storylines. It has been a while since I’ve read a Christian mystery book and I must say that this book had all of the elements that make for a great read: suspense, mystery, charm, character development, and even scriptures.

I won’t post any spoilers because the whole fun in a good mystery book is discovering things along the way and hoping to figure it out before it is revealed. I was able to figure out what the twist in the story was just before it was revealed and then I spent about 30 minutes in disbelief hoping both the author and I were wrong.

The epilogue was a beautifully poetic ending to the story and I’m looking forward to reading the 1st story for more of a background on the characters that I have grown to know and love these last few days.

If you are looking for a delightful and suspenseful read then by all means read the agents of justice books, you won’t be disappointed.

Can the detectives solve the case before its too late?

There were several twists and turns that will keep you guessing until the end. The author pulls you right in with her writing. You get action, suspense, and so much more. This is the second book I’ve read by this author, and it’s not bad. I did like it a little better than
the first, because it was easier to understand the characters and who was who, and how they
were tied together. If you like crime and Christ, this is a good series for you. Not graphic, no bad
language or uncouth scenes, pretty mild all around. While I’m someone who lives for the
hardcore action, it’s a pretty decent book for something that’s tone down. Honestly, this is a
great option for teens who like suspense and thrillers, even though it’s not 100% my style I still
recommend giving this series a shot.
