What a nice story about being kind! I like how they are excited to be kind. It’s supposed to be for 7-9 year old but my 6 year old granddaughter enjoyed it and I’m sure it would be good for even a preschool child. I liked the activity prompts at the end. Easy to do in a classroom or at home. I definitely recommend this book to read to your child.

This was a cute children’s book that I am going to read to my new grand daughter when we move back there in a couple of weeks. I want her to enjoy the pictures and to learn to enjoy reading as much as I do.
I think any child will be happy to get this book or have it read to them.

It’s Cool To Be Kind by Shermaine Perry-Knights. This is such a great book about just being kind. Kids of all ages can learn from this sweet book. It teaches us that even the small things that you help people with are just as kind as the big things. It teaches kids that take what you are good at and help people with that skill. You can help in all kinds of ways. It is geared at kids 7 to 9 years of age but even my nephew who is younger really enjoyed it. It would make a great book for your upper elementary teachers for their classroom. I loved this book and I am making it a part of our family library.

This is a great story about how being kind doesn’t require someone to do really big things. That being kind can be little things like helping someone tie a shoe, or helping carry bags of groceries. You can make a difference every day by being kind and helping others. I think it has a great lesson. The extras at the end really add a lot to this book too.

This is a great story. It helps remind children that sometimes it is the smallest things that make them special. I agree that often it is the big splashy things that make the most noise and leave people feeling like they are not important because they are not able to do that big splashy thing or only able to do it but not at the level of someone else. I love how this story brings home the message that being kind and helping others is equally valuable and worthy of being rewarded. I recommend this book to anyone with children who need this kind of affirmation.

I like the concept of It’s Cool to be Kind, but I think it missed its mark. The book didn’t flow for me, and got a little off topic in my opinion. It starts with the children discussing a school assignment, what are you best at. But then the kids throw around stories regarding kids being the first to do awesome things. The story continues and we see examples of each character being kind and helpful to others. I think it would have made more sense if their assignment was not “what are you best at?”, but instead “what are some ways you can be kind to others or make a difference in the world?” Regardless, I would read more of the author’s stories to my kids because I think there is potential.

This story starts off with 3 kids who have to write a paper that explains what they are the best at. They go through things they are good at, video games, sports, etc. but quickly come to the realization that while they are good there is someone better. Throughout the day each kid encounters someone who needs a little extra kindness and give it without a thought. It wasn’t until they each saw the after effects that their kindness brought that they realized that kindness is something they can be the best at. While this story didn’t always directly connect every point it still manages to teach a valuable lesson to kids.

This is a quick read. The premise of the book is simple: When you are kind and helpful you’ll win in the long-run. I think the world needs more of a ‘kindness is a winning attitude’ mentality so I loved the book. It is an easy thing to explain to kids in this way as well. Helping other people with chores or with things they struggle with (for many different reason) is an important part of life. It makes YOU feel good to help others…and isn’t that what we all want?

Such a heartwarming dedication. Michael, Max and Martin are trying to figure out what they are good at for a homework assignment. “Being kind isn’t just about the big stuff. It’s about helping in the small ways too.” Such a great quote in those book. Teaching and discussing kindness at the end for kids also. The illustrations and storyline is great. Definitely a good book to help little ones understand what it means to be kind.

It’s Cool To Be Kind is a book aimed at 7 to 9 year olds, but this book could be for any age. Teaching kindness starts at a very young age, and kids at any age should know that being kind will always work out best for you. It doesn’t have to be major acts of kindness it could just be opening a door for someone. The illustrations are phenomenal, and the message is great. I love that there are little activities or examples at the back of the book.

A review from an actual kid: D (age 6) – ”Being kind makes people happy.” S (age 3) – “I like being kind to my friends.”

This book is intended for young children around the ages of 7 to 9 years old, but can probably be read and understood by children of other age ranges as well. This book tells the story of a group of friends who are trying to find what they are best at. As the friends explore and try to figure it out, they discover that for each of them, what they are best at is helping others. The illustrations were well done and colorful, making them engaging for young readers. I would recommend this book for any parent or teacher of young children who is trying to promote kindness and friendliness in the little humans around them. Toward the back of the book, there is even a guide on discussing kindness along with a couple of “games” that can be played with dice to help get the point across even more.

This book is geared to ages 7-9 but I think it should start a bit younger and go older. So many kids can benefit from learning kindness. The illustrations are very cute and will draw your child’s attention. There are interactive and educational games in the back of the book to further engage the kids.

It’s Cool To Be Kind is a cute children’s book that children ages 7-9 can enjoy but honestly children of any age can it. One thing I loved about this book was the lessons it teaches children. This story teaches them about being kind. You can be Kind in many different ways and this book teaches children about that. My son loved this book. I highly recommend reading it and we look forward to reading more from this Author.

This book is a heartwarming story about how easy it is to always be kind. The book introduces us to three characters and we get to see them discover what it means to be kind and how it can really be done anywhere, at any time. It was nice to see slightly older children in this book to your usual books for kids. My daughter in particular was highly invested in the characters and had plenty of questions. This is a lovely story that reinforces the kindness message in a way that resonates well with day to day life. I would definitely encourage kids to read this book.

What are you best at? Several friends investigate this question in this very inspiring read. One might not find a way to walk on lava but how about helping someone tie their shoes? That would show a kindness that is rarely found these days.
This is a great read but I do disagree with the last two pages of this book. I do not believe that everyone deserves a trophy in life. Other than that, this was a very enjoyable read.

This is a fantastic story of kindness. Not just being kind but helping whenever a need arises. Children learn kindness, but it has to come from our parents first. Once the example is set, our children will be sure to follow. This is such a great story. It is well written and easy for our children to follow. The examples are simple yet something we see daily. The author has done a fantastic job with this story. It is a must have for all libraries.

4 stars Kindness is an important value to teach children from a young age, but it seems to be lacking in today’s world. Although this book is intended for children aged 7 to 9, the lesson is important for everyone. Being kind doesn’t cost anything, and it brings about positive feelings. It opens up opportunities for developing social connections and strengthening friendships, which come in many shapes and sizes, whether you are young or older.
“It’s Cool To Be Kind” not only offers a story but also includes games for children to enjoy at the end of this engaging picture book. It is a book worth sharing.

It’s Cool To Be Kind by Shermaine Perry-Knights is an illustrated story book aimed at children aged 7 to 9 years. It aims to encourage kindness, friendship, and making a difference one small act of kindness at a time. The author also provides games and activities at the end of the book to inspire discussion and reinforce the messages in the book. Max, Michael, and Martin worry that they don’t have any special skills or abilities- but as the story unfolds, they find they have some pretty serious superpowers which make them very special indeed. The dedication at the beginning of the story says it all: ‘To the amazing kids who make kindness their superpower, this book is for you! May you always remember the magic of spreading smiles and lifting hearts. Here’s to the kind superheroes of tomorrow- keep shining your light bright!’ The story is accompanied by some cute, bright, and colourful illustrations- which add plenty of interest to the whole book, helping to make it a very engaging read. An inspiring little story…. Happy Reading…

This was the first book I had picked up by this author, but the cover looked intriguing, so I picked it up. You can’t go wrong with a book on kindness, but this one exceeded my expectations! I truly loved that these kids were a bit older than most of the books that focus on being kind. It can feel like once you’re older, it’s not as cool to be kind which is far from the case. I also enjoy that another lesson hidden inside is that you get better at what you put your energy into. The flow of this story was incredible and kept the attention of both my 8-year-old and 12-year-old. It also sparked some great conversations in our home that I really appreciate. This would make a marvelous addition to your home, a school library, or even a daycare! I can’t wait to pick up other books by this author.

From the outset, the storyline draws readers in with its playful tone and relatable characters. Max, Michael, and Martin embark on a journey that illustrates how acts of kindness—whether it’s helping out at home or making new friends—can transform their world and the world of those around them. Perry’s uncomplicated prose makes it easy for young readers to grasp the concept of kindness, while the playful adventures of the characters offer moments of excitement and laughter that keep them engaged.
The illustrations complement Perry’s narrative beautifully, adding an extra layer of engagement for young readers. Colorful and inviting artwork is crucial in children’s literature, and it would be expected that the visuals aid in translating the warmth and playful spirit of the story.
