Love and Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours Book 1) by Carrie Pulkinen is an exciting supernatural romance and is a story that is a breath of fresh air from normal romances.. The premise of the story is original and Carrie’s writing was spot on and swept me into a world I could relate to. I loved this book! The mystery and suspense, ghosts and possessions, romance and the humor was perfectly balanced. There were brief times I wanted to shake Emily but overall the characters were loveable and the slow burn between the main characters was sweet and sexy. The story is set in New Orleans and Carrie made the world she created come alive with her descriptions being so vivid you could see it all.
It is one story that will have you wondering what is hiding in the shadows and just what is around when that cold chill that gives you goosebumps happens upon you.

This was a book that was easy to get into the story. At least for me since, i love second chance romance novels. So it starts close to the beginning when they “bump” into each other. She does seem a bit bitter about the past and how he ghosted her; but who wouldn’t. He obviously insisted and it does take fruit since they do get involved again. But obviously the story has many pains to overcome before the happy ever after. I love her bestie, her personality is like the best friend you want to have. I love that they both have a failed past, since it makes it feel more realistic. Since everyone wants to move on even if they really never do. Will you be able to join the journey with them?

This YA fantasy is beautifully written and will captivate it’s audience no matter your age. Bearce treats her young main characters with respect and intent, allowing them to truly develop and grow, while learning and stumbling along the way. I wasn’t certain what I would find when I dove in. But easily by the second page I knew I had a treasure in my hands. I enjoyed every minute I spent reading this book. Highly recommend!
Heart of Stone: Emery & Jackson (Heart of Stone Series Book 1) by Chiquita Dennie is a four star novel. I loved how this book was a great, steamy, quick read. Emery’s story was so relatable. Lots of women have been cheated on by a man. Some women forgive, others choose to move on. Emery chose to move on and good for her. Whatever choice is made, is good, as long as that is what you want. When Emery meets Jackson, she knows there will be action between them but just doesn’t get how much action there will be and what that means for her. Little did she know her whole world would be turned upside down!

Nicholas continues to enrapture her readers with another masterful piece of fiction. From beginning to end I felt like I was part of the story and anticipated that the characters would jump off the pages at any moment. I have thoroughly enjoyed this entire series. I can’t imagine living with what was done to Cassie. I don’t know if I am strong enough to move past such trauma. This story was all kinds of messed up. It was somewhat dark in what went on in the past and the events of the present. Ian I’m lost for words in him. All I can say is be prepared to lose yourself in dreams of him. I’m still thinking about him even though I’ve already finished the book. I just don’t see how the author focused on anyone else when the thought of Ian was there. Lol! I liked the flow of the story and how the author didn’t make Cassie weak. Yes, she had fears but rightly so. She didn’t let those fears rule her life. They triggered panic attacks but she got through them. I enjoyed the different personalities and how the author mixed the characters for the best action. Review by @gguerrero89

Love & Ghosts was an exciting paranormal romance. Featured in New Orleans Emily recently moved from Houston to attempt to live again after the loss of her sister and discovering her boyfriend cheated. Sean has lived there his entire life and has struggled since the death of his wife. The two meet and sparks fly but Emily denies the paranormal.
I loved the main characters and the scenery in this novel. Carrie Pulkinen has such an amazing imagination and I could not put this book down. The story was easy to follow and was written well. There were several steamy scenes in this novel that easily depicted the characters emotionally charged connection. It was definitely a 5-star read!

I believe this is the first book I’ve read by the author and it won’t be my last. The writing is well plotted, the characters well defined and memorable and the cadence lent an easy pacing while reading.
I wasn’t 100% sure if this was going to be a horror story filled with darkness or something a little lighter. It IS on the lighter side with a bit of suspense, a wonderful romance, great friendships and some really quirky individuals thrown into the mix.
I read every word in this book from cover to cover in one sitting. The writing was detailed enough that i was able to visualize each scene. It was the perfect balance of description and brevity that moves the story along.
There are a couple of open door sex scenes and if i were recommending to an elderly friend’s book club, I would let them know I skipped “those parts” hehehe.
Blinded by Betrayal with Spin Drift: Book One (Silent Secrets) by Lisette Kristensen was a good 4 star read.
I was pulled in right from the beginning, Sloane’s husband has turned on the family which means they must die. Sloane had no idea her husband was going to do what he did and she refused to go into protective custody, so she runs. She ends up going to an old friend for help, who sends her to a very unexpected place. I definitely did not see this piece coming and I’m still not sure where some of it connects, but I will say there were some mighty steamy scenes.
Never attract attention to yourself. Never give them anything to remember you by.
As we move more into the story, Sloane learns exactly what is expected of her and becomes one heck of a tough girl. This is a short read that includes two of the books from the series. There were several great characters. The story did seem to move really fast at times and I would have liked to have seen a little more of the Chateau Imperium and Bettino, overall I really enjoyed it and can’t wait to read more from this author and series.

Heart of Stone – Book 1: Emery & Jackson was a good 4 star read. This is a contemporary romance that pulled me right in.
Emery had a not so great past of getting hurt so she was guarded. She also has a secret that she hopes will stay hidden, but will it? Jackson has a playboy rep and when he meets Emery he is pulled in by her, he really liked her and was great at trying to get through her walls.
Things take an interesting twist when both of their pasts make an appearance. Can they have a HEA?
We get some very steamy moments along with some unexpected twist and turns. I really liked Emery and Jackson, you could feel their chemistry coming off the pages. All of the secondary characters were great, I especially loved Grandma, she had me LOL so many times. We also got a glimpse into some other couples and I look forward to seeing more from them in the series. The story is told from Parker’s point of view, she is our resident empath! She is brash and bold and honest and caring and energetic … Avery is the PERFECT best friend ever … DeShawn is calm and wise and a young man with a golden heart … Ethan is our mischievous young rebel … and then we have Mia, a sweet and sad and complicated new girl, and Josh who is another new boy that brings his complications … This story that I think would be a perfect reading early tween and teen set, tells us the story of friendships, family relationships, the power of social standing and the realities you must face when you hurt the people you love, even if you did not mean it to happen … it tells us a story of what the consequences of shortcuts are and that actually, there are no shortcuts in life as every action has a counter action … it shows us that everyone carries a burden and everyone deserves to have friends and to be loved! Things We Lost (Loving Locksley Book 1) written by Shae Banks is the first book I’ve read by this author. This book had strong characters and the story kept me interested to find out what was going to happen. I wasn’t sure which way this book was going to go but we all secretly hope, second chances turn into a happily ever after.
Nathalie Johnson walked into an interview she was overqualified for. She wanted this new job because she was sick of the commute and had no challenge in her current job. She was hired on the spot. When she is goes out to celebrate with her best friend ( pretty much her only friend ) Haylie she runs right into the last person she expected to see, her ex-boyfriend Jason Locksley, someone she hasn’t seen in thirteen years. She is shocked to see him and wants to hate him for how he hurt her in the past but there’s no way to deny the attraction they still have to each other. Jason keeps showing up begging for a chance to explain and finally, Nat agrees to meet him for coffee and then eventually dinner. Both Nat and Jase have secrets. When your trying to start over, secrets can ruin any chance you have. When Nat find out part of Jase’s secret, she automatically thinks the worst and doesn’t let him explain. When Nat’s past comes creeping into her future, who will she turn to? Will she be able to count of Jase for support? Also the connection between Jase and Nat is crazy. Not sure if I’d be able to handle that kind of pressure. I thought this was a great read and couldn’t seem to put the book down. It was a happy, hopeful read I found myself rooting for this second chance romance.

She has built really high walls around herself. Can Jackson break them down? This is a well-written story with a happily ever after ending. I enjoyed the story and a bit of humor and build up to the characters. The characters are interesting and I felt for Emery and her struggles. Jackson and the other characters were good also. I look forward to where this series goes and the stories of other characters.

For some reason I didn’t realize this was the beginning of a series and was quite distressed thinking that my questions weren’t being answered but thankfully this is just the beginning of the series and there is more to come.
Nathalie is starting another new chapter in her life in so many ways and she’s clueless to the depth of the changes to come. She has come so far from her past and keeps on going up. She was not ready to run into Jason Locksley even after twelve years.
I’m trying to be patient to find out what’s going to happen next, especially to see if I’m right in my thinking.

Until Fools Find Gold: A Providence Gold Series and Until Series Crossover by Mary B. Moore, is a brilliantly told story that I became obsessed with. I was consumed by these characters. My heart broke, then mended, my tears were plentiful, then I would laugh hysterically. A rollercoaster of emotions felt is putting it mildly. I was totally caught up in all that was Luna and Noah. This couple shredded me. The made me whole again. A tumultuous affair that touched my heart indescribably and entirely. Having not read Mary B. Moore’s work before, I went in with an open mind. And then it was blown away. Stories such as this one will never cease to thrill, impress and humble me. They give so much more than you could ever anticipate, and they leave you ready for more, but with such a sense of fulfilment and contentment, you almost need a little lay down to recover from the emotional ride you just survived. You know you have something special whenever the first page is turned, and that is a feeling like no other. 5 stars.

Past Storm and Fire by Christy Nicholas was an original, engaging detail read, that had me hooked.
Not my first read by this author, so I new going in that this book was going to be something otherworldly and fantastical. And I was not disappointed. This book was hooking right from the start. Opening with that storm, it not only set the stage for the mood, but it showed us right away the cracks in Val’s and Karl’s marriage. It was a heavy hitter from there, and once that fantasy plot got underway, there was no turning back for me. I loved the play on fact or fiction, and the way the author had Val escape into her writing. It was a unique twist and it made this story stand out.
Overall this book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Heels of Fortune in book 2 in the PJ Santini series by Lynne Russell. I liked this book better than the first, as the character development is done and we could focus on the story. It should be read following book 2, as it is the continuation picking up right where book one left off. PJ Santini is a private investigator, as well as a TV reporter, who just helped solve the murder of another local reporter. She has strong family ties and her family is very much Italian. She has a good solid network of family and friends that help her solve crimes as well as report them. In this book she has someone after her, and must uncover the truth about her dead husband in order to stay alive herself. This story is entertaining, as it has suspense, romance and comedy wrapped up in a perfect trifecta.

Their story is a must read. I didn’t regret picking up this series.

Let me start by saying, this was such a great book. I love second chance romances, and this one was very interesting. I connected with Nat, I felt for all she had been through. And Jason, I really really liked him. I did, i so did. He explained the past asked for forgiveness and tried to earn her trust back. If the book ended at this point, it still would have been a great read. But, we get sucker punched, for lack of a better phrase. I didn’t see it coming, I had no idea, no little voice saying “wait for it”, nothing. And then after that, a small scene and then over. Do we get more? Heaven help me I need to know more here and I will be waiting with bated breath and festering feelings as I’m so confused why I feel ok about this books actions! I haven’t felt this way in quite some time. Im on both sides of the fence here and i need to know where to go! I will be reading more from this author and hopefully we get more dual pov as the small snippet from Jason left me wanting more on his side. Ugh going to dive into some ice cream to drown my traitorous feelings over here lol

This series captured my heart and spoke to my soul. Ash and Olivia are facing tragedy and chaos. Olivia finds herself again with uncertainty and feelings of betrayal. One thoughtless decision made has the ability to destroy the relationship that Oliva and Ash hold so dear. What does the future hold for Ash and Olivia? Read this book to find out. All throughout this series the characters of Ash and Olivia have been well-developed and I found myself thinking of them more as friends than characters in a book. There are many other additional characters that are introduced throughout the three stories which I fell in love with as well. Their lives and that of Ash and Olivia are intertwined and I couldn’t see the story without any of them. Don’t miss out in the third book in a series that I couldn’t stop think about even after I had finished it. Highly recommended.

She is starting to take control of her life and face the demons from her past. Olivia is a character that I grew to care about with each chapter that I read and I found myself wanting her to find happiness in her life. Ash’s character also becomes more defined and I loved reading about him just as much as Olivia. The story does take your emotions on a rollercoaster ride that doesn’t stop until you have finished the final page. Highly recommended.

When a man can’t cope, get you a woman who can. Orlaugh has been a faithful Seer to her cousin, the chief, for almost 50 years but for some reason he doesn’t hold too much stock in the Visions. A new bishop sees Orlaugh as a threat to himself and Christianity, and wants her dead on principle. Bishop Malachi insults her and outright says to kill her within seconds of meeting her. This dude got my blood boiling and I wanted to smack him. Orlaugh, however, knows what storm is coming and will not let men’s dismissal stop her from trying to prevent to war and bloodshed she fears is imminent. I love Orlaugh so much. She’s witty, wise, and doesn’t give a good gosh darn. I want to be her when I’m old. This whole series is fantastic and I recommend them to anyone who likes historical fiction.

Shortcuts by Amy Bearce is a delightful fantasy aimed towards children aged 9 to 14 years old. But I am waaaaay older than that, and still enjoyed the story. There are some tougher issues covered in this book- such as challenges, consequences, conflicts, and owning up to mistakes… which were handled really well by the author, who wrote in a way that was thought-provoking, yet would also allow the younger (teen) reader/s to understand. A story with a message/moral. The characters are well crafted individuals who were interesting, and believable. They learned and grew as the story progressed. Coming out the other side stronger and wiser. The story has a fast pace and is a fun and engaging read.

The story Out of The Box Awakening (Out of the Box Book 1): A Second Chance Romance series by Jennifer Theriot is a book that I loved reading. It draws you in from the very beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the final page. It is a story that is emotional and romantic. This book introduces you to Olivia Petersen and Ash Harper. Olivia feels the pain and confusion of betrayal. It is in Chicago that she must face a challenge that is unexpected. She also meets Ashe. You can feel how overwhelmed that Oliva is and I couldn’t help but have sympathy and empathy for her. Ash is a man that has everything except the healing from losses that alludes him. Read this story to find out what happens when Oliva and Ash are thrown together. This is a book that will have you glued to the pages. Highly recommended.

Love and Ghosts (Crescent City Ghost Tours) by Carrie Pulkinen is a brilliant book that you will just have to devour in one sitting. This whole book have been done perfectly. The characters are strong and interesting. They have a depth to them that just draws the reader in to their story and instantly connects you with them. They are the absolute backbone of this story, which is gripping in its own right. And while the book has so much too it I also found it to be fun and entertaining. It brought all elements together so well and created something that was so so good to read. I have read books by this author before so I did know what to expect however this book definitely surpassed all expectations. I would highly recommend this book to everyone!

It is addictive reading- a riveting, action-packed paranormal fantasy, with witches, werewolves, warlocks, psychics, soothsayers, vampires, supernatural creatures, magic, fate, missing keys, bloody battles, intensity, drama, choices, changes, chemistry, friendship, different factions, hidden agendas, and much, much more. Charlize Galloway (Charli) has begun to think that there is something seriously wrong with her, because ever since she turned 18, strange things have been happening and she can’t work out why. Then things take an even stranger, but sexy turn, when two gorgeous strangers arrive in town- both vying for her attention. One promises to help her discover ‘who’ she really is and to teach her about the unusual things that seem to happen around her. The other needs her help finding something very important. But danger isn’t very far away, and soon Charli will need to choose who she will place her trust in. There is quite a lot riding on her decision. Who can she trust? What will she choose? And will it be the right decision? OMG! Where do I even begin to do this book the justice it deserves! It is so funny, emotive, exciting, fast-paced, intense, touching, romantic, and just plain incredible. The story is told from Charlie’s perspective, which I loved- but I really wanted to hear from Jameson too- especially after meeting him briefly in book#1 and being so intrigued by him. Ms. Elledge is a gifted storyteller and excels at original, and intricately detailed world building- bringing the whole story to life. She’s a masterful storyteller, that’s for sure!! Without a doubt, one of my favourite series, ever!! Book three is set to be even better!!
