Apocalypse Thoughts (The Pox Series Book 5) by Kendra Griffin – Review by Jade Thomson

Apocalypse ThoughtsApocalypse Thoughts by Kendra Griffin
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So to start real quick: I haven’t read a YA novel in quite sometime but DAMN YALL. This was a GOOD one and made me remember why I LOVE YA novels. Kella is an awesome character that shows a lot of layers to herself (instead of being a “typical teenager”). She’s protective of Huck (let’s be honest- he’s my favorite), brave, and honestly hilarious. I can definitely see people becoming very immersed (and maybe a little frightened) with this book because of the pandemic we are all in! I just really enjoyed it and was really surprised to learn that there are books previous to this one. (Because I didn’t feel lost or anything!) but I’m happy that there are previous ones because now I have more to read while I wait for the sequel! I love apocalyptic stories and this was a great one- check it out y’all!

YALL- I REFUSE to spoil ANYTHING about this book. READ IT. It’s a part 2 (so read the first one guys!!) that is definitely deserved and oh so deliciously good. Y’all KNOW I love Red. I’ve also become a huge fan of Cher. All the different characters are so interesting and make you curious about THEIR stories. This MC series is by far one of my favorites (probably the most in a series I’ve read by one author)! I love her work and I’m ready to read another one! This book has the feels and it doesn’t stop! Even the last chapter had me on the edge of my seat! Check it out y’all- you won’t be disappointed!

Y’all- this was a sweet quick read. Priscida is so cute and lovable and fun to read about. This isn’t my ordinary type of book to read- but I’m glad i did! The pictures at the end of the chapters were so cute! I think the graphics were some of my favorite part. A really sweet book that y’all should give a chance (it makes you think!)- and maybe share with a little loved one. 💖

King Bastard (A Dark Sparrow Novel Book 6) by India Kells – Review by Jade Thomson

King Bastard (Dark Sparrow, #6)King Bastard by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay y’all. Here it is. The END OF THE LINE for The Dark Sparrow Series. And hot damn what a series it was. And it ended with my favorite silver fox of them all- the yummy delicious Oz. 🤤 This author poured some heart soul sweat and tears into this book because I felt all the feels (as per usual with this author) and it was great. I’m just so glad we finally (not that i was in a rush because I’m sad it’s over 🥺) got his book! I’ve really enjoyed learning about his character throughout the series and Inwas almost worried his book would be too hyped up in my head- but it was fantastic. What a great one! And I canNOT finish this review without mentioning Sasha- I really enjoyed her character throughout the series and I’m glad to see her story be told too! She’s so sarcastic and funny- as so many of the Sparrows are. I loved this series and I’m sad to see it coming to an end- although the journey was pretty amazing. Check these out y’all! 💖

Anyone who knows me- knows this isn’t a book i would typically pick up. I’m one of those that is always reading romance or thriller books. Nothing else. But I’m really glad I gave this book a read! The cover is beautiful- and the way the author starts the book really made me feel like I was being invited into the book. Previous to this book I knew nothing of paganism or magic (minus fantasy novels/movies). I enjoyed learning about finding magic in our everyday lives and enjoying the beauty of life around us. It was really cool and I’m interested in looking at it more!

The plot is incredible- the story was so good- I’m REALLY excited to read even more by this author! This was my first one- and I’m pumped to see that there’s more. Y’all once I started this book I could NOT put it down. It’s a juicy read that quenches the thirst for a sexy, wealthy man. This was my first read by this author and I am very pumped to read more! This really hits several marks for me (to be a binge-ble book): sexy main character Caspian (with a great name!), a loveable main character, Paisley (really- she’s adorable and relatable), some SERIOUS tension 🔥, a killer backstory, and a great storyline (I’m a sucker for “forced marriages”). I’m very excited for the next book in the series (I’m really sad I already finished it 🥲-but it really was that good!) and y’all should for sure check it out!

This was a pretty damn cute story. It’s a really good read and despite the short length it still made me emotional! I really enjoyed Acheron’s (also I’m OBSESSED with this name- and Kharon) character and reading from his perspective. My favorite character might have been the battiest of them all. This was my first read from this author and I’m pumped to read more. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay. First thing first: the cover? EYECATCHING. The title: intriguing. This was a bit of a “darker” book for me and I enjoyed it. This was my first book by Russell Archey and I’m excited for more! Ashes of Alydr was written with such description I could really feel and enjoy the world building that was taking place around me! I’m a HUGE sucker for elves and I definitely got my fix. I’m eager to read the rest of the series (because YAY more books!!!) and see more of the characters and work be fleshed out. I’m also really excited to learn more about Alda and it’s inhabitants. I’m a sucker for fantasy and this hit the spot for me! I can’t wait to read the next! Check it out y’all 💖

Y’all. Manda Mellett can do no wrong. I’m telling y’all that. Every book I have read by them has allows evoked an emotional reaction and this one was no different. It’s gripping, emotional, and written so well that you can’t help but want the very best for Red. The worst part for me is that it’s a part one of two! But that’s also the best part so I can’t really complain TOO MUCH. 😉 I was excited to get to Red’s story after meeting him in Turning Wheels 👀 I am eager for his next book and I just know it’ll be a great one. Check this out y’all. It’s a good one. 💖

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yall- I ate this book up and left ZERO crumbs. If you enjoyed Journeys Through SpaceTime (as I did!), you’re gonna LOVE Journeys Through TimeSpace. Not only is the cover art breathtaking once again, the story is FANTASTIC. I think often book series can fail because the second can’t measure up or characters fall flat, blah blah blah, but TimeSpace was incredible. I felt lucky to read the first and I felt immense joy to read the second. James Talisman continues to create incredible characters and an enriched multiverse that is written so well that I can actually feel as if I am there and witnessing the worlds around me. I love this author and I am ready for more of his books! Onto the next!

Do you ever feel like YOU were the lucky one for finding a book? Because I felt LUCKY getting to read this. I am a BIG fan of books that utilize multiple point of views (POVs) because it really keeps me immersed and engaged. I loved the complexity of not only the storytelling- but of the worlds and characters within them. There are so many dynamic exciting things that happen that it can seem overwhelming, but let the story overtake you because the outcome is so worth it. It’s the first in the series and I’m so thankful I can read the second one because I am EAGER FOR MORE. I can’t get enough of the Journey’s Through series and more works by James Talisman! I feel I often start my reviews the same way, and that’s with talking about how the beginning sucked me in. I think that’s what makes me so excited to read a book!! And this book: Did. Not. Disappoint. I didn’t even make it through the first pages of chapter one before I smiled so big I thought it’d fall off my face. I really enjoy a beginning that hooks me and this one really did. The characters are *chefs kiss.* Hunter is OOMPH! Rain is everything I would want for Hunter! Born to Fight is the first in the Can’t Resist You series and it’s a book I couldn’t resist!! Brittany Anne is a hell of an author and I’m excited this was my first read from her! Onto the next!

Scarlet Princess (Lochlann Feuds Book 1) by Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison – Review by Jade Thomson

Scarlet Princess (The Lochlann Feuds, #1)Scarlet Princess by Robin D. Mahle
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Welp. I made the mistake of reading this and not knowing that it’s a spin off of another series that takes place 20ish years before. 😉 It’s a good mistake though because I have more of this world I get to be exposed to from Robin D. Mahle and Elle Madison! (Also the first book I’ve read by them and I’m obsessed with them now) Anyway…. The beginning lured me in and got me good. I love the introduction we got to Rowan! She’s so badass and I love the way she challenges the “norm” (which “norm” for Socarian not for her). Theo is distracting. When I first read his description I spent an embarrassing amount of time daydreaming over him. 😉 The cover is beautiful and eye catching and I AM EAGER for the next one! I’m excited for the other series I missed though! Onto the next 💖

Phew. If y’all thought you were getting a “normal” Cinderella retelling with Entwined- ya wrong! Because that’s what I thought I was getting and I’m so excited by what I got instead. I’m no stranger to MFM romances and this one is spicy and hot! My only complaint is I wish it was longer. I’m excited though because I know there’s more to the series! I really enjoyed the characters (Especially Ashling! What a great name!) The creatures were a great addition to the Cinderella story and I’m eager to see what else A. L. Morrow brings to this world! Check this book out- as long as you’re good with a little debauchery 😉

Another hit for Amy McKinley! As soon as I saw she had a new release I knew I had to read!! I’m a sucker for mafia romance and she sure knows how to deliver. I was sucked in from the beginning and I couldn’t stop consuming this book! I’ve never been a HUGE fan of anything labeled “arranged marriage” and if anyone out there is like me- IGNORE that. It’s so much more. (Also- Max? Swoon worthy!) I won’t spoil anything but 👀🔥💖. (Sometimes I feel emojis express things better than my words can!) I’m excited for the next book! Ya’ll. I gotta be honest. I’m not a huge fan of series where it’s the same main characters throughout the books- but this series is an exception. I LOVE Tasha and Levi’s forbidden love. I’ve always liked supernatural/paranormal/romance books and this is the best of all of those worlds. I really enjoyed the first one and this one is no different! I thought the twists/trials/trouble was interesting in Forbidden Wolf and was wondering if Forbidden Mate would be the same and it was. This is a fantastic series and I am EAGER for the next installment! Onto the next! (:

A dark fantasy isn’t what I typically read but I’m SO glad I downloaded this! It’s hard to put into words how this book made me feel. The author has a way of creating a world so real I feel as if I am immersed. The depictions and descriptions made this a read I couldn’t get away from, even when I wasn’t actively reading I was imagining this world. I loved it and I’m glad I decided to read this new (to me) author! I will happily read more from them. <3

Honestly. I don’t even know what to say in my reviews sometimes. I really enjoyed this book. I’ve been on a biker kick lately and Manda Mellett delivered another great book! Grumbler has been my favorite biker so far! Being inside his head is funny and this book isn’t short on laughs (although it does have its serious side). Mary is fun to read- a character i can relate to as a mother (even though my kid is younger than Alicia!) This story is another winner in my book!

Okay. I have to be honest- this (to me) is the heaviest book I’ve read by Manda Mellett. It REALLY tore at my emotions. It was a hard read- but only because it was written so vividly. I’ve read a few of Manda Melletts books now and this one has been my favorite by far. I was interested in Nirans story since the first book and I’m so glad I didn’t have to wait TOO long to read his. Saffies character is so well written and easy to relate to- I’m getting chills just typing this. All I can say about that the story without spilling anything is that I’m ready to read part 2…. The ending had me on the EDGE of my seat! Onto the next book y’all!
