Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Jenique Bornman

Amy McKinley has definitely made a new fan out of me with this action packed short story, and at to that Regan Brown as the narrator and you have gold in this one and a half hour listen.

The characters are really well developed, especially for a Novella and the storyline has so much packed into this short story.
I’m definitely checking out the rest of this series.

Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts Book One) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Jenique Bornman

K.G Fletcher’s writing has this way to transport you into the here and now of what the characters are experiencing.
Em and Cappy are two characters that I couldn’t find one fault in. I absolutely adored their friends to lovers story especially because it’s a few years later and they still had this spark between them. It makes you believe that love does last.
I’m assuming by the name being the same that the Author is also the narrator. I’ve come to find that I actually like it more when the authors narrate their own books because they have a closer bond with the characters.
I see that the next book in the series is also available, I’m grabbing it now.

Becoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter – Review by Jenique Bornman

Becoming HumanBecoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amy Michelle Carpenter showcases her superb writing talents with this Emotional, funny and coming of age YA Sci-Fi. Her talents also shine with writing out of so many POV’s and still keeping each character separate with their own personality.
The world building is out of this world (*wink, wink)
The storyline is unique and something new. Not usually the kind of book I would read but I couldn’t put it down. Amy really did a superb job and I would definitely read more from this Author.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Five-Alarm Christmas by Melinda Valentine is a short and sweet Christmas Romance. It’s extremely fast paced and has an insta attraction storyline. Two loners make eye contact one night and bam!!! Insta attraction. Great Storyline well written characters. My only reason for the 4 stars is that I feel it has some editing problems.

Be Brave with Me (Finding Love in Green Springs Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by CA Miconi – Review by Jenique Bornman

J.B Havens & CA Miconi joined forces in this heartwrenching romance.
Meg & Drew are both broken, they have both lost someone close to them.
Meg is on the run from her heartbreak and ends up in the small town Green Springs. There she runs into Drew, also heartbroken.
They keep on running into each other….. will these to people begin to heal….. you’ll have to read it to find out.

Both these MC’s are amazing and well written but I must say that I was drawn more towards Meg with her foul mouth and cheeky attitude.

Tyler and Tara also did and absolutely superb job with the narration of this book. I’m definitely checking to find more books narrated by them.

This also wasn’t your normal rich guy who has everything sorted out and young office intern who’s life is a complete mess. This time there’s an extra twist…. hes also has some things to sort out….
Superb characters and the storyline flowed flawlessly.

UnwrappedUnwrapped by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

You know the feeling of ripping open a present on Christmas morning…… that’s the feeling I got from Unwrapped.
Insta-attraction, office romance with a twist, this storyline is something completely new. I haven’t read anything quite like it.
Although I’m giving the book 4 stars it would have been 5 if the character development was a bit better. But overall a great holiday read

Fake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office RomanceFake Fiancé: A Second Chance Office Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

WOW what a rollercoaster ride…. the push and pull between these two was off the charts, chemistry out of this world.
I can’t believe how much Amy McKinley was able to put into only 158 pages. She put a jampacked story into a Novella. The character development is superb and the storyline great.
This was my first read by this Author but I’m definitely going back for more

The Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink AUDIO TOUR – Review by Jenique Bornman

The Sound of SilenceThe Sound of Silence by Dakota Willink
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Before I start my praise for this book let me first say GREAT job to the narrators!!! All 3 did a superb job.

I started this book as if it was fated to be this way…. on the 25th of November (The first day of 16 Days of activism against woman and child abuse)
Dakota Willink could not have done a better job!! Emotional, Gut wrenching, Suspenseful are some words to describe this masterpiece, but not only that…. strength, empowerment, healing, these are also words that come to mind when I think of this book.
I myself have never been abused or hurt in any way but there’s always this lingering fear that it could happen. This book (even if it’s fiction) gave me hope that even if it happened, I would be able to have the strength to come out the otherside.

Now more about the writing….
I absolutely loved the fact that it was written from different POV’s ESPECIALLY!!! the fact that we got to see inside the twisted mind of Ethan, that was really something different that I haven’t seen before and it gave the story that extra layer of interest and intrigue.
All 3 characters are well developed and the fact that the story took part over a couple of years made it more believable.
I can go on and on about this book…. but I won’t…. JUST GET IT NOW!!!

The Mummy of Monte Cristo by J Trevor Robinson – Review by Jenique Bornman

The Mummy of Monte CristoThe Mummy of Monte Cristo by J. Trevor Robinson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

AAA+++++++ I can’t even put into words how much I enjoyed this retelling of The Count of Monte Cristo.
J. Trevor Robinson definitely did his research with French history and the way he seamlessly wove the supernatural aspects into this classic storyline was masterful.
The story was close enough to the original that I could tell where the storyline came from but Robinson didn’t steel the story he expertly put his own supernatural twist into it.
AMAZING world building and the characters took the story to new heights.
Thank you for doing the beloved classic justice.

Shattered Snow (The Mirror Chronicles Book 1) by Rachel Huffmire – Review by Jenique Bornman

Shattered SnowShattered Snow by Rachel Huffmire
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Well, well, well… what a pleasant new take on an old classic. Rachel Huffmire, I applaud you on a job well done. I’m very picky when it comes to classic fairytale retellings. My opinion usually is why change a perfect story. Like I said USUALLY. Rachel Huffmire did a masterful job with this book, by bringing a futuristic twist with the time travel aspect she incorporated.
The characters also brought an extra layer of awesome to the book.
Thank you for making me eat my words.

Super Sorry by C.A. King, USA Today Bestselling Author – Review by Jenique Bornman

Super SorrySuper Sorry by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Interesting new YA read by C.A. King.
The name caught my attention first with it’s double meaning…. it gave a great insight into the direction the Author took this story.
With some humor and tepicle teenage problems mixed together with a new take on supernatural fantasy, Super Sorry has it all.
Great world building and the MC is funny and spunky just how I like them.
But the stand out in this story was definitely her sidekick……

Her talent with words makes you take a step back and reflect on small moments in your life that are truly special, magical and dare I say ENCHANTING.

Rookie Moves: A Quick Snap Novella by Tarrah Anders – Review by Jenique Bornman

Rookie MovesRookie Moves by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What a sweet, funny and sexy read. I was pleasantly surprised by how much Tarrah Anders got into only 99 pages. Rookie Moves: A Quick Snap Novella is a great read, especially if your looking for something short and sweet and still has body to the storie. Tarrah has great character development and shows that you don’t always need drama in a romance.
Perfect introduction to a new Author for me.
