Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Series Book 1) by Diana Vale – Review by Jenique Bornman

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University, #1)Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella by Diana Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Perfect book for a light afternoon read. I love reading taboo tropes and this book was no exception. It wasn’t as dark and sexually explicit as I’m used to read it leaned more towards a NA. That being said I was pleasantly surprised by the characters and the way the Author describes the surroundings and “feel” of some of the scenes.
I’ll definitely be keeping a lookout for the next books in this series

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an AMAZING read by Byrd Nash…..
I absolutely adore fairytale retellings and I recently fell in love with historical romances, add some magic and this book is a triple thread that you definitely should read.
It’s a short story that packs a punch with the exceptional world building and character development that Byrd Nash put into it.
Only Fter reading this did I see that this is book 2 so it can be read as a standalone and I’m definitely grabbing book 1

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is what you get if fantasy and religion had a baby….
I was pleasantly surprised by this completely different storyline. I can honestly say that I have never read anything like it.
The Author has a really innovative way of taking aspects from religion, fantasy, folklore and reality and weaving it into an AMAZING book.
The character development is absolutely great.
My only criticism is that it took a while for the book to grab me. But once it did I couldn’t stop

Goddess of Everything by Paul DeBlassie III – Review by Jenique Bornman

Goddess of Everything: A Blood-Curdling Tale of the Affection of One Mother for Her Son and Her Son's Struggle for Truth, Freedom, and LoveGoddess of Everything: A Blood-Curdling Tale of the Affection of One Mother for Her Son and Her Son’s Struggle for Truth, Freedom, and Love by Paul DeBlassie III
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

What an unexpected surprise this book was.
Mr DeBlassie has one of the most interesting ways of telling a story that I’ve seen in a long time. It’s almost like sitting around a campfire listening to urban legends.
This dark thriller with some supernatural aspects was yet again an excellent example of this mans talents, he took the normal good vs evil to a whole new level with exceptional world building and character development.

Definitely not for the faint hearted but an AMAZING read.

Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Jenique Bornman

Hungry Business: A Short StoryHungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Food for thought…….
After being with my husband for 17 years, this book is exactly how I imagine it would be like if I ever have to start dating again.
Not only is this book creepy and full of humor as well, I feel like the author is wants us to read between the lines….. To find your own happiness and not to keep searching for someone else to make you happy. I also feel like the makeup and all the things they use to try and hide their rotting is a metaphor for people who hide behind their fake online profiles.
Or maybe I’m just reading into it to much. But still a fun quick read.

ANGUISH (THE JOURNALS TRILOGY BOOK ONE) AUDIO BOOK by D.M. EARL – Review by Jenique Bornman

This is the review I left when I first read the book back in 2017
**********************************************************HOOKED FROM THE START.
This book held me captive from start to finish. I would recommend this book to anyone and everyone.
It’s been a while since I’ve been so emotionally invested in a book. Quinn is a brave woman and the traumatic event that she went thru still gives me nightmares.
The way D.M. Earl paints the picture of that event with her words made me feel like I was there like Stone watching in horror.
Stone is the perfect protector. But I must say I started out not really liking him because I felt he could have done more to help Quinn. But in the end I fell in love with his character aswell.

I also love the fact that this book is written from Quinn and Stone’s point of view. Nice to get both of there perspectives.

This is not for the faint hearted. But I would read it again and again and again.
**********************************************************

So when I saw that it was available on audiobook I just HAD to get it.
What a completely different experience it is to hear this AMAZING book come to life in audio. Nya Simpson did an superb job with the narration.

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1) by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné – Review by Jenique Bornman

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1)Climbing The Walls by Sacha T.Y. Fortuné
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So they fell in love, got married, had kids and lived happily ever after…… and then WHAT HAPPENED?
Climbing the Walls gives us a glimpse into what happens after the happily ever after…. Sacha T.Y. Fortuné tells us the story about what might appear to be the perfect marriage and she takes us on a rollercoaster ride in the ups and downs of Nicole and Darren’s everyday married life.
These characters are the kind you love to hate…. because they are just so mean but without them the story won’t be the same.
Absolutely loved this book.

Great conclusion to an AMAZING series

Coyote Summer by Laura Koerber – Review by Jenique Bornman

Coyote SummerCoyote Summer by Laura Koerber
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Great introduction of a new to me Author.
Coyote Summer is a book that gives us a very thought provoking point of view of a tragic event that is unfortunately an everyday occurence in today’s society. Ben witnesses the sexual assault of a high school girl and then struggles to come to terms with what he saw. I absolutely loved the fact that the Author brought us this story from a male perspective.
Ben is also in a strange relationship with a fascinating girl, with a completely different upbringing than him. This is a completely different coming of age story with excellent characters and amazing depth.
The only thing that was a miss for me was the supernatural aspect. But it doesn’t take away from the great story.

I got this book because of the cover….
I was not disappointed, from the first chapter this book grabs your attention. With a shocking prison break in the very first chapter I just knew that this was going to be one suspenseful and action packed rollercoaster ride of a book.
Color me surprised when I found out this was the second book in a series. So this can definitely be read as a standalone. I’m reading the first book next.
Great book from a new to me Author

Linda Gets Her Groove Thing (The Green Room Chronicles, Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by J.D. Frettier – Review by Jenique Bornman

J.D. Frettier had me belly laughing again with this, the second installment of The Green Room Chronicles. Linda, Bonnie and Dee become the infamous trio and takes over the Green Room with their HILARIOUS vengeance plans.
The spell that Edwina did…… hell has no fury like a woman scorned.
If you’re looking for a laugh you’ll definitely enjoy this.

Desperately Seeking Sixty Nine (The Green Room Chronicles, Book One) AUDIO BOOK by J.D. Frettier – Review by Jenique Bornman

OMG!!! What did I just listen to???

J D Frettier has one extraordinary imagination. Desperately seeking sixty-nine is one hour and 15 minutes of HILARIOUSLY thought out content of WHAT COULD BE……

Have you ever wondered what Limbo (purgatory) will be like? Well in this extremely funny book you’ll take a trip with the eccentric Bonnie McMillan to find just that out!!! You won’t regret it!!!

Only reason for the 4 stars is that I wish it could have been longer.

A Sun So Bright (Reigning Hearts, Book Three) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Jenique Bornman

It just goes to show you, the saying “never judge a book by its cover” is so true. In this case it’s a character.
When K.G. Fletcher introduced us to Fiona in the first installment of the Reigning Hearts series, as Thomas Capshaw’s girlfriend, I absolutely hated her. BUT when I started listening to A Sun So Bright the depths of Fiona’s character was revealed and I fell in love with her.
Chris on the other hand….. INSTA-LOVE

This was again a superb book in the Reigning Hearts series and as the series develops so does K.G. Fletcher’s writing.
Again her talent as a narrator also brought extra heart to the book.
Can’t wait to read more.

At Once: Adams Brothers: Book 2At Once: Adams Brothers: Book 2 by Mindy McKinley

166 Pages of funny, emotional, sexy and so much more…..
2 people skittish of relationships (for different reasons) come crashing together with chemistry out of this world. With some bantering and steamy no strings attached fun what can go wrong…… What indeed…..
Mindy McKinley did an AMAZING job with this second installment in the Adams Brothers series.
My only regret in this book is that we didn’t get enough of the back stories but that doesn’t take away to much from the book.

Jae Dawson did an amazing job bringing this romance to life with her intriguing characters. Her way with words just added so much more to the story. The flow and development of the storyline is flawless and had me turning the pages into the wee hours.

India Kells did an amazing job writing this story. It felt familiar but also brand new at the same time.

I can’t wait for the next installment.

Crave (Clark Family Series Book 1)Crave by Evelyn Sola
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Don’t you just love when you stumble upon a new Author and the blow your mind…..
Evelyn Sola did exactly that with this absolute stunning book.
Insta attraction with family drama and some really funny moments made Clark family my new favorite soap opera.
When you have so much anger in your heart that you turn into something ugly on the outside, there’s nothing like a take no BS woman to kick you on the butt to set you straight.
Both these MC’s are superbly written and the storyline is we’ll developed and flows naturally.
I highly recommend this book.

Broken Circle: A Gray Ghost Novel, Book 1 AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Jenique Bornman

I have now read and listened to quite a few of Amy McKinley’s books and this one is by far my favorite.

Olivia (Liv) and Alex have the perfect cookie cutter marriage with all the frills that go with it…… or do they?

Amy took me on a wild rollercoaster ride with this one with some absolutely THRILLING twists and turns.
A wonderful second honeymoon to reconnect and one totally from the left field phone call……..Some secrets just don’t stay secret for long and then Bam!!! add another surprise…… that’s all I’ll say.

Regan Brown breathed something extra into these characters with an excellent job with the narration. She portrayed the personalities of the characters with ease and just enhanced the storie so much more.

With Amy McKinley creating an AMAZING story with superbly crafted characters and Regan Brown bringing those characters to life with the narration, I highly recommend this audio book.

License to Bite: A Paranormal Romantic Comedy (New Orleans Nocturnes Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by Carrie Pulkinen – Review by Jenique Bornman

Carrie Pulkinen thank you for the belly laughs…… this was a fun, light listen with some really funny scenes.
Hollie Jackson also did a good job with the narration.
The storyline line is really good. The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because I wish the author gave some more attention to the characters.
Still a real fun listen, especially the humor.

Stars Fall From the Sky (Reigning Hearts Book Two) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Jenique Bornman

Two broken hearts, ripped apart their loved ones. They come together and help each other cope with their loss….. with this heartwrenching romance, it gave me all the feels and I couldn’t stop listening. The storyline was amazing and these characters where even better then the first book in the series.
The narration was again great, I’m really happy that the same narrator was used.

Ps. the little twist mmmmm…….

Moonlit Mirage (A Cook Islands Romance) AUDIO BOOK by Amy McKinley – Review by Jenique Bornman

Amy McKinley has definitely made a new fan out of me with this action packed short story, and at to that Regan Brown as the narrator and you have gold in this one and a half hour listen.

The characters are really well developed, especially for a Novella and the storyline has so much packed into this short story.
I’m definitely checking out the rest of this series.

Run to the Sea (Reigning Hearts Book One) AUDIO BOOK by KG Fletcher – Review by Jenique Bornman

K.G Fletcher’s writing has this way to transport you into the here and now of what the characters are experiencing.
Em and Cappy are two characters that I couldn’t find one fault in. I absolutely adored their friends to lovers story especially because it’s a few years later and they still had this spark between them. It makes you believe that love does last.
I’m assuming by the name being the same that the Author is also the narrator. I’ve come to find that I actually like it more when the authors narrate their own books because they have a closer bond with the characters.
I see that the next book in the series is also available, I’m grabbing it now.

Becoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter – Review by Jenique Bornman

Becoming HumanBecoming Human by Amy Michelle Carpenter
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amy Michelle Carpenter showcases her superb writing talents with this Emotional, funny and coming of age YA Sci-Fi. Her talents also shine with writing out of so many POV’s and still keeping each character separate with their own personality.
The world building is out of this world (*wink, wink)
The storyline is unique and something new. Not usually the kind of book I would read but I couldn’t put it down. Amy really did a superb job and I would definitely read more from this Author.

Be Brave with Me (Finding Love in Green Springs Book 1) AUDIO BOOK by CA Miconi – Review by Jenique Bornman

J.B Havens & CA Miconi joined forces in this heartwrenching romance.
Meg & Drew are both broken, they have both lost someone close to them.
Meg is on the run from her heartbreak and ends up in the small town Green Springs. There she runs into Drew, also heartbroken.
They keep on running into each other….. will these to people begin to heal….. you’ll have to read it to find out.

Both these MC’s are amazing and well written but I must say that I was drawn more towards Meg with her foul mouth and cheeky attitude.

Tyler and Tara also did and absolutely superb job with the narration of this book. I’m definitely checking to find more books narrated by them.
