A Heart So Savage is the second devilish book in The Savage Duet and just like the first book A King So Savage it is gritty, raw, bloody, and deadly. Some of my favourite things in dark romances and April does it so well. I can’t get enough. It is a captivating dark romance that will set you on fire. The characters are complex and intriguing and make the story. Ava is a prisoner of his twisted mind and world. He is dark intense, dominant, possessive, and an utterly irresistible man. She knows what needs to be done and he just has to let her. King is a dark, violent and sadistic alpha male of the underworld. He is someone you will love to hate and hate to love. He will do anything to protect her in his own twisted way, but she may just be the one that saves them both. It is a captivating romance tale with darkness, possessiveness, obsessiveness, angst, drama, violence, emotions, secrets, danger, secrets, danger, and so much more. This is one duet that you don’t want to miss. I can’t wait for more of this genre from April.

Song of Earth and Claws is Lena Abrams new romantasy world book. This is a good start to this series. This high fantasy tale is set in a world where magic is the norm and the worldbuilding is done well. The story is well-written and easily imagined. Lena certainly puts the characters through their paces in this magical journey. It kind of reminds me of a cross between Lord of the Rings, The Hunger Games and GOT all rolled into one. There are strong heroines that are interesting and intriguing characters. With Games a foot it’s do or die time, but does Lannahi have what it takes to win or will all be lost with her. Rules, what rules? Has she taken on more than she can handle? To find out you will need to read this little gem. The stakes are high in this magical world where enemies have their own agendas, power, and greed. A world with elemental magic, magical creatures, wolves, Fae, games, slavery, along with lies, secrets, deceit, danger, death, hopes, dreams and more. Loyalties will be tested. Trust needs to be gained and want is a powerful motivator. I enjoyed the story and look forward to the next book and the story becoming more settled in terms of build-up and pacing.

Naomi Valkyries new book The Alien & The Crime Boss is a MM alien mafia romance tale. It also features as one of the stories in the anthology Aliens on Earth which is a limited-edition 12 book romance collection by many wonderful new and USA Today bestselling authors. I have read every one of Naomi’s books and there is not one that I have not loved. I love the quirky characters and I enjoy the different stories that Naomi comes up with this is one of my favourites. Leilphun is alone and on the run and walking into a brand-new world was safer than staying. Although Earth welcome wagon is not what he expected. Will his rescuer be his ruin or his salvation? Kasper wants to take over and watching the war means he is on track he just must wait it out. What he didn’t count on was the man he found in the ravine. What he didn’t know was his actions had changed his life. Well worth the read. Do yourself a favour and start reading her work today.

Nessie and the Living Stone is full of magic and wonder. There is much in this book that is different to some of Lois’s other books but there is still the underlying messages and teaching. I really liked the way the cover of this book caught my attention as did the beautiful illustrations. With monsters, precious stones, interesting symbols and ideals for children to learn from this is a wonderful and fun read for children of any age. It was fun to sit and reminisce about my time sitting and looking out over Loch Ness to see if Nessie would show herself. Read along as the children in this story got much more than they bargained for when on the hunt for Nessie.

Lost Property is the sixth amazing book in The Tom Grant Novel series. You could read all the books in this series as standalones, but you are missing out on so much if you don’t read them all in order. I started in the middle and am glad I went back and started from the beginning. I have loved each and every book in this series and the characters are like old friends now that I love catching up with them even if things don’t go right. They are all complex characters but love fiercely. Isabella is away and poor Tom is thrown back in the world of sex trafficking when two young women turn up. This thrilling fast-paced action-packed tale is a page turner and one that had me on the edge of my seat. I was completely engrossed and couldn’t get through it fast enough trying to find out how it all ended. I say I am addicted would be the truth. As always there are lots of twists and turns where the suspense and tension are palpable. Expect the unexpected. It is packed with danger and adventure and so much more. Bring on the next book.

Sweet Dreams is an enchanting tale that takes us to the mysterious and magical Emerald Isle. Just reading the story transported me back to my wonderful holiday many years ago. I really enjoyed the writing style the attention to detail Nanette put in because I could feel, smell and taste it all as though I was standing right there. This love story is engaging, and I loved the sense of humour in the writing it has all the makings of a good Hall Mark movie. The characters really are charming the character development is spot on. We get to catch up with characters from previous books to. This feel-good story has dramatic turns, pre-wedding dilemmas, ancient legends, secrets, magical gifts, dreams, hopes, wants and unexpected love. What more could you hope for, and Nanette has delivered. It was a quick read but an enjoyable read. I only wish it was a little longer. I love this crossover series and absolutely love the alpha hot and sexy men that go above and beyond to protect. The love and they love hard. They are sexy and charming, witty, and smouldering, dangerous and deadly. Via gives us lots of explosive action and deadly suspense, danger, and secrets.

This is a contemporary romance with an edge that is intense and full of suspense and mystery. Via’s stories are always unpredictable and very well written with fantastic characters. She always keeps you on the edge and reveals things that you never see coming. There is sizzling chemistry that is hot sexy with a touch of dominance and submission from these elite security team of alpha men. Add in lots of danger, attitude and sass, a sex trafficking ring and you will be riveted, and engrossed and will keep the pages turning to see what happens.
Layla will do whatever it takes to get her sister back with her and make sure she is safe. Dereck tries to keep the spitfire out of trouble but even this could be too much for him.

The Uncrowned King is the second book in the deliciously dark The Blood Prince trilogy by Ayla Marie. I was introduced to Ayla when I read her first book The Blood Prince and said she is one author to watch, and she certainly is. She is still in high school, but her work is wonderful, and she has a great knack at storytelling. The Uncrowned King is another intriguing YA fantasy and shows Ayla Marie’s natural talent. Even though it is a YA story it can be read by anyone of any age. I am 61 and I enjoyed it. It is an interesting tale that you won’t be able to put down. The world building is spot on, and the story became so engrossing that the pages kept on turning. Sleep is overrated anyway. Ayla is just as good if not better than some of the seasoned authors I have read.
This is a great read that is action packed with lots of danger and hidden agendas, drama with lots of twists and turns that will have your heart pumping and you will be on the edge of your seat. I am not giving away any spoilers because it is a story that should be explored on your own. Do yourself a favour and delve into the world of The Blood Prince. Can’t wait for the next book.

It’s been a while since I have enjoyed the goings on of the Brookes Cupid’s and was excited when I saw this new book out. These Cupids have all the right intensions but not everything goes to plan. You will fall in love with them and their quirky ways. Seraphina is the fourth book in the wonderful romantic comedy The Heartstrings Series. The books in this series are funny, fun, original and refreshing. This story that drew me in from the start and I found myself getting lost in the story. It’s easy to get lost in the story and you can’t help but fall in love with this quirky cupid. Laughing out loud with her antics as she tries to right her wrongs. Seraphina is not like the other cupids; she is fiery and sassy and is determined to help this hockey superstar who is full of himself find love. If it means she has to knock him over the head with whatever she has to get him off his high and mighty pedestal she will. Seth thinks he is all that but all that has gotten him in trouble on more than one occasion, not that he cares. Let the mayhem begin! Grab a drink and settle in for an entertaining afternoon read.

Recipe For Revenge is a cozy mystery that is a quick and fun read with characters that are quirky and eclectic. April May and friends are back in another adventure along with furry friends diving headfirst in to yet another mystery. With a plethora of suspects April is on a merry chase to find the one responsible for the possible murder and thefts. This charming tale is clever, suspenseful, fun and humorous that will delight any reader who love a good whodunnit. I said it before but will say it again if you like murder mysteries and whodunits with some humour like Ms Marple, Father Brown, and the like you will enjoy this series. I have read many of C.A’s books and what I enjoy about her writing is that you never know what you will get because of her diverse ability to write in many different genres. Tropic Heat is short, sweet and a fun read that will have you laughing out loud at the goings on. I just wish that the stories were longer not that you miss out on anything good with less pages because C.A. knows her stuff. Sometimes you find love in the least expected place or person. Daniel may be heartbroken but this not honeymoon may be the best thing that has happened to him. With his best friend Joey in toe what could go wrong or right? Con artist, cops, turtles and to find out what they mean you will have to read it. Tropic Heat is a great book for a quick escape. So, grab a cocktail or two and feel as though you have stepped into the cruise of a lifetime or is it. There are many, many books still left to explore, and I look forward to getting through each and every one of them.

I have really enjoyed the Porter and Midge books as have my grandchildren. Each book has a really interesting story and learning tools for young ones who encounter dogs and how to be safe and yet still enjoy time spent with a furry four-legged friend. It is very cleverly thought out by Jennie and Giselle. Porter and Midge: Paws and Playtime is a quick and fun read with wonderful colourful illustrations. It is told in a rhyming rhythm which captivates and helps children take things in. It is aimed at children aged 3 to 12 years old. This series of books makes for a great gift, especially with Christmas just around the corner. Happy reading.

3 stars Jade: Hidden Scars: A Forbidden Age-Gap Romance is the first book in this series. A story of second chances, forbidden love and those who want to keep them a part. Naseer and Jade’s journey is a twisty road to love. They are both broken. They are from two different worlds; two different cultures and he is much older than she is. But with scheming and plotting to destroy them and keep them apart do they even stand a chance. There are characters that are likable and some you would like to smack them and others you would like to shake because of their naivety and childishness. I found it a little hard to connect fully with them making it hard to truly lose myself in the story. A. Akinosho writes a tale that has healing, strength, secrets, lies, insecurities, jealousy, drama, angst, betrayal, frustrations, hopes, dreams and let’s not forget those conspiring against them. Give it a go because you never know you may fall in love with it.
I really enjoyed the first two books in The Olympic Peninsula series and this one was no different. The O’Connell’s are back in this book and it’s good to see what’s going with them. The Magic Man is a heartfelt tale well-written romance tale. The wonderful characters and the vivid narrative helps to move the story along. You will find yourself falling in love with our MC’s as they navigate their feelings. David is a changed man gone is the happy go lucky man he once was, and it has everyone worried. His past is getting in the way of something that could be amazing, oh and let’s not forget that a one temperamental fiancée. Just who is the Magic Man? The sexual tension is smouldering, but Maddie knows when it is time to walk away no matter what her heart feels. But could there be danger just around the corner? Cat has written something that will hit you in all the feels. With few emotional twists to navigate, the Magic Man, should not be missed. Get your hands on it today and get lost in the pages of this Women’s fiction romantic tale. I cannot wait to see what she brings next in the series.

There is nothing better than a captivating dark romance that is gritty, raw, bloody, and deadly. King is an alpha male. He is a little dark, passionate, possessive, obsessive, dangerous and knows what he likes and gets what he wants. She is nothing more than repayment or so he says but in reality, she is his and won’t let her go. Ava is beautiful and strong, and she is nobody’s pawn. She should be scared of him but something about him draws her in. Together they are hot, and sparks fly. I saw her. I wanted her. I took her. It is a compelling romance tale that at times was a little predictable but with angst, drama, emotion, secrets, danger, secrets, danger, and more. If you like an intense, dominant, possessive, utterly irresistible man who loves just as fiercely as he lives then you will love this book.

A Journey for Dorothy: The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride P. Creeden 4.5 stars I have only read one other book by this author, but I really enjoyed it and was happy to settle into another. It is a simple, sweet and clean, standalone romance. A Journey for Dorothy: The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride is a sweet, heartwarming historical romance story. This captivating tale is fast paced, with plenty of hope, drama, angst, suspense, tension and danger in the wild west. The journey is full of hardships and harrowing plights and so easily imagined due to Ms Creeden’s rich narrative. Not looking for love after becoming a widow her heart is still broken but needing more Dorothy sets off for a new start, but she quickly realises that marriage even one of convenience is what she must do. Reverend Elias has a calling to go to the wild west. However, he finds himself in strife before he even steps foot on the Wagon Train. Will he make the journey or will all be lost before it even begins. Ms Creeden’s writing style is interesting with wonderful characters. The plot was well done, and the characters were well thought out and well written. They are relatable, and real that I was invested in them and their journey. With twenty brides there are lots of stories to come. I look forward to reading more books in this delightful series.

4 stars To Catch an Elf: Pennsylvania Fighter Pilot is a story that is filled with action, intense suspense, excitement, a lot of weirdness and passion just to name a few. The story is well written and is intriguing and will have you engaged and on the edge of your seat from start to finish. Debra’s descriptive writing is easily imagined and draws you in to the chaos. You will find yourself all hot and bothered and on the edge of your seat in suspense.
It was supposed to be an easy gig. House sit and dog watch, oh and one creepy elf. But let’s not forget the stage instructions that have to be followed. I hate creepy dolls. Marcie finds strange things happening and now she is in a situation she can’t get out of and only hopes that her connection to Ted will be enough for him to try to find her. Confused Ted make is way home, only what he finds is not what he was expecting. Who has her and why? To find out the mystery of the elf you should add this book to your TBR list. If you love sexy, strong, heroic men then grab a copy. I cannot wait for the next book.
Mission Improbable is the fun third book in A Blanche Murningham mystery. I haven’t read the first two books in the series, but I did not feel like I was missing anything. Amateur sleuth Blanche is intrigued and compelled to help a woman find her roots and see the country in which she lost her father. The journey is not so straightforward when some discouraged their adventures but there were others that we more than happy to shed light on what happened. What they learn will have long lasting effects as they uncover their heart-breaking stories. There is raw, and emotional moments with connections, bonds, friendships, hopes, and strength of character, sadness, humour, angst, and adventure. This is a story that is set in Vietnam and really tugged at my heartstrings, as we are reminded of a war that destroyed many. The story is well written and had me flipping the pages so I could find out how everything played out. There are great characters along the way who are unique, interesting, real, and colourful. I enjoyed the story so much I am going to go back and see what I missed in the first two books. Worth the read.
Alien Redemption by Gloria Oliver is a sci fi story set in deep space. I have only read one other book that Gloria has written, and I enjoyed it immensely as I did with this book. Emotions run high in this story making it feel like you have run a marathon. Gloria’s has once again cleverly woven together complex threads in a multi layered story. Her world-building is done well, and the plot is intriguing in a story that has something for everyone that likes a good sci fi story. With a new identity, intelligent humanoid species, first contact, uncharted planets, blackmail, shocking betrayal, and sinister plots Gloria has written a tale where the pages keep turning desperate to find out how it will end. The story is fast paced, and action packed and full of suspense, tension, frustration, fear, desperation, aliens, secrets, mystery and more. Gloria’s narrative and a few twists and turns makes it easy to become intrigued with the characters and their journey. Claudia is overqualified and needs a new start in life but that new start doesn’t turn out how she thought it would. Things go from bad to worse and she wonders just what she has gotten herself into. I look forward to reading more.

4.5 stars Jennifer has written a bit of a tangled web in this story. She has cleverly woven complex threads with multiple layers that gives us an intriguing and compelling tale. Lela’s Choice is an enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance which had me hooked. It takes us on a chase around the world and with a bit of everything to keep the pages turning. There is secrets, lies, passion, compassion, loyalty, angst, fear, second chances, and finding love where you least expect it.
I really liked the characters, Lela and Hamish. They are complex and well developed. Lela has put her life on hold for others and it’s time for her to step aside. Only it doesn’t seem like that is on the cards with her overbearing father and a niece on the run. Hamish is wary and does not plan on letting anyone close as it will only be used against him, and he has already suffered enough but what he didn’t expect was a woman that will stop at nothing to get back the ones she loves, and that woman needs his help. Jennifer Raines is an Australian author who writes heart-warming contemporary romances. Her stories are unique, and her original storylines are refreshing. Contemporary romance lovers will fall in love with this book. I look forward to seeing what else Jennifer has in store for us.

Triple Trouble at Amberwood is another wonderful addition and the fourth book in the Amberwood Hall Ballet School series. Eleanors passion with ballet and shines through in her words. It is an engaging story with wonderful characters. This sweet little tale is a delightful children’s paranormal/fantasy story. It is aimed for young readers aged 8 – 13 but young and old will enjoy this fun tale. Lauren and the gang are drawn into another ghostly adventure at Amberwood haunted ballet school where mischief and mayhem is about to explode. With a new ghost in town things are about to get difficult and friendships are in jeopardy. If you enjoy a ghostly tale with a bit of mystery, you are going to like this one.

Dreamscape is the second exciting book in the JJ Morris series. I really enjoyed the first book and was so excited when I saw this book. This is a thrilling supernatural, paranormal suspense and mystery story for YAs, but older readers will enjoy too. JN’s cleverly woven narrative draws you in as we journey along every step of the way. The storyline is intense, and the characters are well written. There is lots of danger, suspense, action, mystery, paranormal occurrences. The story had you feeling so many different emotions, ups and downs, highs, and lows with so many twists and turns that keeps you guessing till the very end. Joey is back on campus and things are not what they seem. This could be something far more dangerous than she has faced before. What is stalking her in her dreams? What is real and what is not? Will she get the life she wants? You will have to read it to find out. This explosive and imaginative tale is full of twisted intentions, mysterious fires, guardians, violent dreams, and missing people making easy to get lost in the mayhem and madness. If you enjoy things with a little supernatural you will definitely enjoy this book. I cannot wait to see where things go next.

Whispered Surrender is the first book in the Sinful Duets books by Via Mari is another fantastic read from this talented author. Whispered Surrender is the collection of previous books Wayward and Undercover.
I see Via’s name and jump straight in. I don’t even read the cover because I always know I am in good hands when it comes to her books. It is a great start to another of her fabulous series and has many of my old favourites from her other series. Hot alpha men looking out for their own with the backing of their employers who trust them like family. And the romance is all hot tamale and sizzling to the point of boiling. Via has once again woven her magic and puts you through hoops where the drama and secrets, fear and pain, love and lies is palpable and we travel to exciting place. There is conflict with some of the most powerful and dangerous men in the world including several mafia families.
There are two stories to one book and the first is Jay and Sasha’s story:
Jay met a siren, but she only has eyes for his boss. The beautiful ballerina takes his breath away but how does he get her to see she is made for him and him alone but when a secret is brought to light, he may just have to walk away with his heart in tatters.
The second book is Matt and Marenah’s story:
It is another exciting and titillating story in this series which is a spin off from the original Prestian series and another spin of being the Torzial Affair. Each of these series are fantastic and now we get to see the wonderful alpha hotties who look after and manage the security of the billionaires get their own stories. All the characters intertwine within each of the series so now we are getting to know so much more about them and get reacquainted with them much more intimately. As always Via leads a mighty dance keeping it all together without compromising on the great story. The action and feelings, the secrets and danger, love and drama is described so vividly that it is palpable and draws you in. I always lose out on sleep when reading Via’s stories as I have to know how it will all end, and it is so, so easy to get lost in the journey they travel in.
In this book we get to see where Matt came from and what he has been through. And when a mysterious blond comes into his life, he won’t let her go but when he finds out the truth, he may just have to do that.
I suggest you start at the beginning with the Prestian series and work your way through, because as I said they are all intertwined characters, and you will see where it all starts. You will thank me later.

Master of the Abyss is sadly the third and final book and the end to this unique historical thriller Painted Souls series. It is a fast-paced ride and as with the other books in the series I was fully lost in the story. It is a tale that takes place between the past and present around the world but predominantly in 16th century Venice and is rich in history.
Eternal purgatory, an age-old journal, lost and tortured souls, ancient relics, global supremacy are just some of the things Julia and friends encounter in this gripping tale. They are in a race against time and in a deadly game to stop an unhinged and dangerous man who will stop at nothing. Rob cleverly woven intricate threads of magical realism and fantasy where his vivid narrative transports the reader in time and place as you explore the beauty and wonder of Venice and the darkness, secrets and lies beneath. This clever and multilayered plot is compelling and complex with danger lurking in the shadows, suspense that is palpable, tension so thick you can cut it with a knife. There are twists and turns that you don’t know what is going to happen next.
I was so lost in the story in another time and place that my husband kept checking on me because I was so quiet and hadn’t moved for hours.
I can’t wait to see what comes next from Rob.
If you are a lover of historical thrillers, you are going to love this series.

Children of the Wild is an YA historical fantasy tale. Krysta Twalks is a relatively new author and one to be watched. This unique and vividly imaginative tale is original. It is refreshing to read something a little different from the norm.
Mythological creatures, shape shifters, magic, magical abilities and transformations are just some of the things that you will find in this magical tale.
One boy is about to find out who he really is. I mean it’s not everyday that you suddenly sprout feathers and can magically produce sparks. He finds he is surrounded by magical creatures he never knew existed. He finds himself in a world full of wonder and danger.
Elbert must learn to wield his magic along with learning to be who he is and accepting who he is. He must learn to deal with the grief of losing a sister whilst looking after his other siblings. He finds himself in a fight with a friend and being aware of enemies that could threaten it all.
Acceptance, overcoming grief and hope is just some of what he must learn…

A Christmas Amish Courtship is book 3 in the Amish Courtship Series by Jennifer Spredemann. Jennifer is a new author to me so I thought I would give the story a go. I have not read the first two books in the series but didn’t feel like I was missing anything.
It is a heartfelt clean romance tale full of faith and religion and it is set around Christmas time. A magical time for love.
I have only read a couple of Amish stories and quite enjoyed them. Learning of a different way of life was interesting. It is a second chance romance tale full of love and healing.
I did like the characters and found them interesting, and it was hard not to feel for them.
Annie is afraid to get hurt again after a courtship gone wrong. She wants to have what others have but can she open her heart to possible heartbreak again.
Andy knows he is the one for her he just has to get her to see it.
If you love an Amish clean religious romance tale, I am sure you will enjoy Jennifers work.
Isla does it again and again. This time it is with the delectably dark Wicked Ends. Wicked Ends is the explosive second book in this duet, but it is the eighth book in a series. Am I addicted. Yes I am! This is one series that I have not been able to stay away from. I am sad to see the series end, but I have enjoyed the Hidden Valley Elite boys. I wonder if the wicked and darkness of these boys will carry over into a new series with them being older. Mmmmmmm food for thought Isla. Shane may be one of the Elite but underneath it all he has a heart of gold. He is being pulled from pillar to post and it is that that could lead him further down the path of darkness. Winter has had a life of darkness and one she thought she left behind. Together they could be toxic but apart they aren’t whole. There is a lot of back and forth between these characters and some surprisingly shocking twisty turns that you don’t want to miss. Revenge is a bittersweet thing!

Unexpected by Laylah Abrams is a modern-day fairytale contemporary romance. Having not read anything by this author before and I was interested to see what she brought to the table. I was not disappointed. This fun tale has a bit of everything that you need to make it an enjoyable read. With a little drama, a touch of angst, a smattering of longing, a bit of humour and everything in between this tale will draw you into the journey. There was some pouting, some heavy sighs and some laughter as I turned the pages. I had to know how it ended for these two star crossed lovers. UNEXPECTED of two people who could not be more different and live in totally different worlds. The wonderful characters are well written and make you feel like you have a connection with them and all their troubles, wants and needs. Claire has brains and beauty, but brains apparently don’t mean much when you are an heiress. All they see is wealth and pomp but not truly the girl underneath it all. Like all artists Nick is in a funk but that is about to change when he crosses paths with a beautiful woman. Can two people from different worlds find more than they ever thought? To find out you will have to give it a read.
