Lines by Leon: Poems, Prose, and Pictures by Leon Stevens this emotive book is full of many thoughts and doodles and wanderings. It is certainly on book that will make you stop and think and more so at times because I lost my mother recently. It evokes memories of childhood and the wonders of youth whilst also injecting humour making me laugh. If you are up for something a little different then Leon’s book is just the thing.

Least Likely Suspect: Revenge by Cooper McKenzie is a must-read gripping crime story that will have you enthralled from start to finish. Now that I have discovered Cooper, I am looking forward to seeking out more of her work. It is an emotional short story, but it packs a punch. Being a mother and a grandmother, I know that I would think about harming anyone who harmed them. But I will not reveal anymore and let you discover and uncover this story all on your own.

Brooke May’s second book, Taking Flight in the Code of Honor series is a military romance story that it is so easy to get lost in. Brooke’s characters are written in such a way that you become fully invested in them and so immersed in their lives. Brooke is one of those authors that you see her name and you just have to have the book. Grab a drink and settle in for a while and relax into this sweet story.
Fame isn’t all it’s cracked up to be even if you aren’t the star and Military life can be hard and some down time gave more than they both thought possible. But the one thing they both can agree on is the freedom to fly.

Danielle Ackley-McPhail’s The Halfling’s Court (A Bad-Ass Faerie Tale Book 1) is a Fae MC a modern urban fantasy tale. Where Sons of Anarchy meets Lord of The Rings. He is half human and half fae and this guy is a great leader of an MC. He is on a journey to reconcile with a past he knows nothing about. Danielle pulls out all the stops to give us a mixed-up cast of fun characters with secrets and lies, trials and tribulations, danger and perils, good vs evil along the way. I would have liked to see this as a full novel and more depth in the characters but having said that it is an engaging read. Hang on and enjoy the ride.

Jane Suen has given us short stories in Beginnings and Endings: A Selection of Short Stories. Even though the stories are very short Jane did not skimp on the descriptive content. Each one is as different as night and day and evoke emotions a little pain, a bit of sweetness and a little bit of fun. Jane has mixed a lot of heart and feels in to make the stories memorable. My only complaint is they were too short. It would be good to see them made into longer stories. And just when you thought you were finished Jane gave us a little added bonus.

Captured by the Viscount by Wareeze Woodson is an historical romance with a twist. I not really a historical romance type of girl but I did really enjoy this book. I think because it was not quite the normal romance. There is nothing like a little bit of cloak and dagger going on and being caught in the act to bring them together in an unusual proposal. I loved the ongoing banter and constant back and forth between Isabel and Matthew. This engaging little tale is a delight.

Unlikely in Love is the first book in the series A Parker Lake Novel by Olivia Sherwood. This is the fifth book I have read by Olivia and she never disappoints. I absolutely love Olivia’s writing style, it is a beautiful and easy read that you will love from the first word to the last. The chemistry between the characters was wonderful and honest and I found myself laughing out loud at their easy and sweet banter and when times were tough I found myself tearing up. Olivia has the knack to keep you engaged from the start and you will find yourself at the end before you are willing to let go.
Annabelle Cleaver is dealing with the loss of the one person who loved her, when her high school crush walks into her life. With her besties by her side Annabelle is sure to never go under. Wyatt Holloway has come home a broken man who is trying to find himself again after serving three tours with the army. When he sees the beautiful girl from his past she may just be the one thing he needs.
The friendship between Annabelle and her besties had me laughing out loud and found it totally relatable. I truly can’t wait to read the next book in the series. Olivia is one author you need to add to your reading list.

A dark fantasy tale, The Myder Bird Tattoo by Julia Colbourn is an interesting original tale. This is the first time I have had the pleasure of reading any works from Julia and I must say I enjoyed it. With its intriguing plot, lies and deceit and betrayal the pages keep turning. Sometimes the truth is right in front of us. But only those strong enough or with a sense of right or wrong bother to do anything about it. If you look closely, you will learn things you have never known.
Remember His Name is the second book in the Remember My Name Series by Laurencia Hoffman. This romantic thriller is a MM story and one that is a little intense and a little dark. This compelling story is multi layered and the characters have depth but are complex. The emotions are real and intense and are palpable, tissues may or may not be needed, as Wren loses the one thing most precious to him and hunts a murderer. It is so easy to become lost in this story and a part of the mystery. Laurencia has thrown in some nice twists as secrets from the past raise their ugly heads.

Pauline Gruber’s The Girl and the Raven is a YA Paranormal Romance. It has demons, witches, gargoyles, and ravens. The story is original, and I did find it a little slow at times but there were plot twists that had me guessing and some I figured out but some I did not. There is a lot of different layers going on but ultimately there is a fight for good and evil. With secrets and lies, magic and a wealth of unusual. YA’s will love this book.

Sex on Fire: A Quickie Read (Naughty Neighbor Book 1) by Ashley Bostock is tantalising, steamy and sizzling that I read in one sitting. Ashley’s characters are fun, and I love their witty banter. I also love stories that are written in dual POV’s. The story is very short, and it was over before it really got started so it would have been nice if it were longer.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams is your typical friend to lovers/brothers’ best friend romcom. It is a quick read where we watch friends see more in each other than they ever have before. 7 days and it could all change. This cute tale will have you laughing and tearing up at different times. Grab a copy and just enjoy the easy read. I must admit sometimes I felt like I could not connect fully to the characters, but it was an easy read.

Book 5, Lake of Flowers is the last book in the series in The Lord Hani Mysteries by N.L. Holmes is set in Ancient Egypt where NL’s passion lies. This series is not just a story they are also a lesson in history. Lord Hani is once again thrust into the thick of things that always sets himself and family into trouble and worry as he sets about to discover who is behind this latest mystery. Only this time it may all prove too much and possibly divide loyalties. I have said before and it is just as true with this book and that is that NL paints a vivid narrative, and her writing invites you into the journey and brings the characters to life. Avenging Devil Part 1: Satan’s Devils MC San Diego by Manda Mellett is just WOW!! And one book you do not want to miss. The only downside is that it ends on a cliff hanger, but it is Part one. Part two can’t come quick enough. There are some triggers that are extremely emotionally intense so tread carefully. This gripping ride is what I have come to expect from Manda and this series, and they just keep getting better and better. This raw and heartfelt story had me on the edge of the seat and my heart broke for Saffie. My anger made me want to exact revenge on her behalf.

I was excited to get my hands on Grave Digger Academy by C.A. King. It is a YA paranormal fantasy, that gives us a light hearted look at young Witches at the Grave Digger Academy and one in particular who has newly learned of her abilities and doesn’t want to be there. This book had a Harry Potteresque feel to it, I mean who doesn’t love Potter? and it is a fun read. This adventurous tale flows nicely and is excitingly intriguing. With great world-building, and delightful characters CA has set the scene with multiple layers to be explored and revealed and a plot going forward that looks exciting and promising. It is an Academy that is full of secrets and things that are hidden within the grounds and in the dark. It is a great start to this series.

Mean girls and bullies, lies and deceit, love, and betrayal and so much more will delight YA readers.

Tangled Roots (Witches of Willow Creek: Tangled Magic Book 1) by Denise D. Young will delight the senses of paranormal lovers. The intrigue was so great that I had to go back and start at the beginning as I inadvertently started with Tangled Fates which is the second book in this series. So, from the beginning and the first book Tangled Roots is a great paranormal tale that is a fantastic start to this series. This story tells of one Witch who finds herself lost in another time knowing there is danger on its way. What is the old saying “be careful of what you weave?” Well apparently, this Witch wove her magic, and it went wrong. With witches and magic, drama, and romance. The Arsonist’s Handbook: A Gripping Psychological Thriller by L.A. Detwiler is just as the title says. It is a dark and twisted story that will continue to haunt you. The writing style is in diary form, so it took a while to settle into it. One man’s journal becomes one man’s bible to the dark and depraved life of being an arsonist. The longing, the wonder, the torment and emotions and emotional state of one boy wanting something from someone who was not in his life but is desperate to know.
Jessica Aiken-Hall’s House in the Woods is a gripping tale takes you on a journey that is full of mystery and intrigue and will have you on the edge of your seat. Once again Jessica has cleverly woven this mystery making it a compelling read. There are deceptions, lies, and secrets and twists along the way. Jessica’s narrative always invokes emotions, and the tension becomes almost a living breathing entity. I’ve said it before, but I will say it again the intensity she infuses in her words and the suspense of this tale had me completely invested and turning page after page.

The Rise Of Manifesto The Great: A Sci Fi Comedy Where Women Wear The Trousers (Planet Hy Man) by Kerrie Noor is quite the interesting read. It is a sci-fi romantic comedy and is full of the three S’s, satire and sarcasm and sexism. Whilst I don’t mind a good laugh and I did, I felt it was a bit over the top and fell short of its intended mark. A new planet, a new world, a new start only the start is not what they all thought.

Motherland: A Tom Grant Novel (The Tom Grant Series Book 3) by Samantha Adair is a fast-paced action thriller story that had me turning page after page. I was unable to guess what was coming next and that to me is when you know the writer has great writing skills. It is packed with danger and adventure and so much more. I love Tom. Fulling a promise has never been so hard when Isabella finds herself facing against the odds, but failure is not an option and Tom is helping her even though he may have bit off more than he can chew.

Shield & Shade: Ascended Guardians Series a spinoff of The Blood Dagger trilogy by a new author to me Misty Hayes. I did not know it was a spinoff and I have not read the original trilogy but had heard it was good and after reading this book I did not really feel like I was missing anything other than knowing characters. Although I will go back at some stage and have a read. Shield & Shade is a YA paranormal fantasy story where angels & demons battle it out and the suspenseful plot will keep you guessing. Misty’s world building is detailed, sometimes overly so but you can see her vision. Her characters are interesting and unique, and the story is told from multiple POV’s, which I love.

The Divine Devils: Mystery Suspense Crime Thriller: Book 1 by R. Weir is a wonderful crime thriller than will have you so engrossed that you find yourself at the last page before you realise it and it will be over before you want it to. R. Weir has a gift, and his narrative is superb and former US Marshal, Hunter Divine is the staring man and breaks hearts but when his past calls, he comes running. This complex plot is full of action, thrills, twists and turns and the danger is palpable and that makes this a great read and will have you on the edge of your seat.

Natalina Reis gives us her third book in the Of Magic and Scales series, Of Fire and Bone. This quirky paranormal tale is a MM merman romance. Natalina has created a world that is full of magic and had me laughing out loud at times. You will find yourself greatly entertained with all the mayhem, suspense and romance and many paranormal magical characters. This intriguing and dramatic plot is also a fun and easy read. Things come to a head in this final installment and the action and danger to Aiden is once again all too real and a fight with magic and mishap make for a rough journey. Moonlit Kiss: A Venice Romance (Moonlit Destination Series) by Amy McKinley. I have never read a book from Ms Amy that I have not liked. Amy knows what genre works for her and she does it really well. This romance suspense story takes us through the cobblestone pathways, water canals and centuries old buildings and art of beautiful Venice. I have visited Italy, so it was so easy to envision all that Amy’s rich narrative provided. There is mystery and suspense which just adds another dimension to this already wonderful read. This is most definitely my favourite book by Amy to date.

Vampires and witches, werewolves and demons are what you will encounter in this quirky, fun, and entertaining paranormal tale. Leslie Scott knows urban fantasy and writes it so well that you do not want to put down.

Mornin The Super Bird : Mornin Finds a Way to Stop Extinction by Jules Heartly is a kids story. The story is colourfully illustrated, and it will draw them in with pictures and song and give them some tools to help the planet. Mornin is a sweet hearted bird, who is on an adventure to fix and educate others about extinction and environmental issues and how to help along the way. It truly is an educational story, and the author provides links etc to further inform you. This wonderful tale will keep not only children but adults alike thinking about long after you have finished it. Travels Through Aqua, Green, and Blue: A Memoir by Mary E. Gregory is a memoir of the authors life and travel. It is a moving story that will touch on the ol’ heart strings and it is also interesting. The writing style takes a bit to get used to as it is written in diary form and there are a lot of details that could have been left out. As they say “less is more”. Having said that I did enjoy the story and Mary’s trials and tribulations and it takes a lot to bare your sole and put yourself out there like she has done. Give it a go. Reviewed by @jennadb

Tally and the Angel is the first book in the India series by Eleanor Dixon and is a book for kids 8-12 and family. Eleanor has beautifully written this paranormal fantasy tale and it will be liked by young and old. It is easy to picture the world and characters that Eleanor has woven due to her vivid writings, and you will be delightfully drawn into solving the mystery along with a brave little girl, Tally. This little gem is centred around Tally who is 13 years old and on a trip to India with a very special necklace. She soon finds herself in the midst of a mystery and sets out to help.

Jeremy Full of Grace by Greta Cribbs I don’t read the blurbs on books because I like to be surprised and WOW I was surprised by this unique little tale. This original Sci Fiish/Dystopianish story is definitely different from others as it is a mash of the two with a dose of religion mixed in. The story is told from several different POV’s which gives us more depth to the characters and the story as a whole. Greta has done a good job of pulling it all together and giving us something fresh and enjoyable. Reviewed by @jennadb
