Forbidden Blood (The Shadow Chronicles Book 4) by CR Robertson – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Forbidden Blood (The Shadow Chronicles Book 4)Forbidden Blood by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really didn’t think that I would be in love with a paranormal romance series like I am with this one. I have red all 4 books and I have not been disappointed since. I highly recommend that you start from the beginning because this book starts with Tasha’s sister Kimber. The first three books focused on Tasha’s story and now this book starts in with Kimber so you might feel a little lost or not understand fully on what is going on when something is being brought up in the story line. These stories are amazingly written and so vivid with details scenes that they really make you feel like you’re standing there watching and, in the story, right along with everyone else. The book (and series) had me once again hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t bring myself to put it down till I was done reading.

Goldilocks and the Six Simple Machines (Science Folktales) by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Goldilocks and the Six Simple Machines (Science Folktales #3)Goldilocks and the Six Simple Machines by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a really amazing retelling of goldilocks and the three bears, but unlike the original it has goldilocks fixing everything in the bears house to make it better. The problem solving, helping others, respectfulness, kindness is very creative in this story telling. The book was very engaging and fun for my kids to listen too. They loved the illustrations in the book which follow along to the story very well. This creative and wonderful book was something my kids enjoyed very much.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another incredible amazing book in this series. This is book 3 and once again I couldn’t put this book down. This book was filled with suspense, action, danger, twists and turns, it was just a roller coaster of a book and one I couldn’t put down like the rest. This book hooked me like the others and that was it I couldn’t put it down. I love how these books are female roles and how they all can hold their own and kick some a** and stand up for who they are. Each book is its own story but I would suggest starting from the beginning. I can’t wait to dive into more from this author.

Rise of the Hunter (Blood Prophecy Series) by Barb Jones – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Rise of the HunterRise of the Hunter by Barb Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

All I can say is what another incredible book. I enjoyed the other books just as much as I enjoyed this one. It’s a supernatural thriller and filled with everything you could imagine a supernatural book would be filled with, from magic, vampires, demons, witches, travel, mystery, suspense, action, twists and turns that I was not expecting. This book just like the other ones kept me on edge and wanting to know what was going to happen next, I couldn’t put it down or read fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. The book continues its story right from the other books, so highly suggest reading the others first, you won’t be disappointed, you’ll be more disappointed that you didn’t. the story has multiple points of views and having back stories and different times always makes the story a very interesting and exciting read. the overall book was well written so much that it was almost made you feel like you were right there with the characters and in the story that you could feel and touch everything and experience everything in the same time. This story does focus more on the Tall Dark Man and he’s desire for vengeance but that didn’t take away from how amazing this series has been. Highly recommend.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book had me hooked right from the beginning. It was so well written and descriptive that it almost felt like you could reach out and touch everything and know what everything smelt and see. The characters each had their own little back story which I absolutely loved to read about, it’s like little breadcrumbs of knowing and understanding who and where they all come from and are going, thou. The farther I got into the book the more I couldn’t put it down and wanted to know more. I can not wait to read more about Amber and Chloe’s adventures of what this prophecy holds and what is to be done.

Helpful Hudson by Dannielle Pickford – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Helpful HudsonHelpful Hudson by Dannielle Pickford
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really good kid’s book. This is a picture book that I think was super cute, it has Hudson helping doing things for others and doing chores around the house. But one day he started to feel overwhelmed, and I would even say stressed. So as the family sees what’s happening the story teaches Hudson that he needs to also take care of himself with doing self-care which is important for himself. This book was well written and a very learning experience for children to care of themselves. The pictures were well drawn and illustrated to the book; it really painted the picture of what was happening. We could all use some self-care and that its ok for others to help us too not just a one way.

The Messy Kids by Lois Wickstrom – Review by Jennifer Reimer

The Messy KidsThe Messy Kids by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love how this author writes in little life stories and lessons into all her books. this one is about how if you do something that your told you will get rewarded and to show how satisfied having something done can feel. But I do have to say this book didn’t start off that way. it started as Chester doesn’t want to do what he was asked by him mom, which is something every kid doesn’t like to do, which is clean their room. Chester decides that he really wants to play instead and off he goes outside, and instead makes a bigger mess out there then what it was. But he had a little help from some new friends called the messy kids. Well, these messy kids try to help clean Chester’s room but instead just push everything under his bed, which his mom isn’t too happy about. This book has amazing pictures and illustrations that go very well with the story of the book. It was another really great kid’s book.

Holding Up the SkyHolding Up the Sky by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was another cute kid’s story, the lessons that are taught in these story’s are so wonderful to teach kids in a different way. This book is about bullying, and name calling. All the kids are bulling colleen’s dad which in turn makes her sad. Everyone is laughing at him and saying what her was doing wasn’t right and that there isn’t a need for him to do it. But colleen decides that she wants to make it right, so she makes a plan that her dad must put his hands down and some things start to happen. So, was he really holding the sky up? This book was suer cute, and I loved the story it tells, the pictures and illustrations make it come to life not just in the words. Being kind, helpful, understanding, no judging, are all things everyone should learn to do. This was a quite wonderful read.

Ghosts of Alda (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 2) by Russell Archey – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Ghosts of AldaGhosts of Alda by Russell Archey
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is book two to the series The Obscured Throne Trilogy, this book picked right up from the first book. This book is a dark horror fantasy in the land of Alda. This has multiple different viewpoints of each character; it goes thou their struggles to survive in this post-apocalyptic world. The rupture destroyed the world and the magical Aldyr trees. This book is filled with so much from suspense, drama, mystery, magic, secrets, danger that it will be hard to put down. It was so vivid like the first book it makes you feel like you are right there beside the characters, feeling, and doing what they are doing. I was hooked from the very beginning and couldn’t wait to know what was going to happen next. This book had me invested and intrigued till the end. Highly recommend reading the very first book. Cannot wait till book three.

Huff... Puff... Grind! The 3 Little Pigs Get SmartHuff… Puff… Grind! The 3 Little Pigs Get Smart by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a very interesting take on the original version. But I always love to see over people perspective and view on what they think something should be or written. So having these pigs build some incredible houses and then outsmarting the wolf and having him run the windmill was an incredible part of the story. my children who are 4 and 6 found this book very fascinated and wanted me to keep reading till the end. The excitement and guessing what was going to happen on the next page really made them think because this does not follow the normal fairy tale, which was why it brought so much joy to the kids.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was hard for me to put down, I was in the zone constantly with this book. It as like nothing else existed. It was just as amazing as the first one maybe even a little bit better. Fantasy is my favorite type of genre, and this book didn’t disappoint. I couldn’t read this book fast enough to know what was going to happen next to Ruanon, Linh and the others. This time on a quest to find out if King Nartzeer was up to no good. The characters were once again well written into the book that it makes you feel like you have known them all your life. The setting and everything around it made you also feel like you were watching everything unfold right before your eyes. I can’t wait to see what is in story for this adventure next.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was very impressed with this book. I was actually very intrigued with the whole thing. It was so well written that reading about the circus and the training you really feel like you’re sitting there watching it unfold before your eyes. It was so detailed that I almost forgot I was reading it. the love and chemistry that happens between the two main characters Cassandra and chandler made me feel like I was involved in something that I wasn’t supposed to know about. It kept me wanting to read more, I really couldn’t put it down. I felt like I couldn’t read it fast enough to find out what was going to happen next. I usually don’t grab romance reads but this book had me on an emotional journey, it was a little slow but the action, love scenes were well worth it.

I really enjoyed everything about this book, right from the beginning. I couldn’t put it down or find out what would happen next to mouse. This read was filled with so much that can really keep you in the story till the end, sci-fi, adventure, action, violence, murder, mystery, suspense, drama. The way the settings were detailed it makes you feel like your right there in the story watching like a fly on the wall. It really brought the story to life and makes you feel like this world could be real. Mouse is an incredible character, she has to fight as a journalist but ended up seeing something that maybe she shouldn’t have, but she is a strong-willed girl. Mouses development in the story is incredible it’s like she grow up right before your eyes. The story line or plot really flowed and draws you into the book that you honestly can not get enough of it. the way the story flows and unfolds really made it super easy to follow along and know what was going on and happening. The love between the two characters really grows on you and to each other. This was a really great read.

The Wandering Isles: A Crown of Stones Novella (Soulbound Journeys Book 1) by C. L. Schneider – Review by Jennifer Reimer

The Wandering Isles (The Crown of Stones)The Wandering Isles by C.L. Schneider
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I did have the opportunity to read the crown of stones trilogy before this one. You could read this on its own without reading the trilogy the back story is detailed enough that you wouldn’t feel lost or confused but I think it was benefit reading the trilogy first for a better understanding, with that being said. This was an incredible book. It was a very action-packed fantasy, filled with adventure, magic, drama, worldbuilding, captivating, creative story and worlds. We see the two characters Jarrod and Ian tested in ways that make you wonder if they are going to either get out of it or figure it out. This book kept my ADHD attention till the very end, I couldn’t put it down till I found out what happened in the end and can’t wait to see when we will have more stories with Jarrod and Ian. Such an amazing read and very intriguing story.

A Monster for MegA Monster for Meg by Lois Wickstrom
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was not what I was expecting. I thought I was going to get a kid’s books that was about monsters and trying to be brave but boy was I wrong. Meg the little is blind and has no idea what monsters look like. Her sister being the older of the two tries to help her by explaining what they look like and trying to get Meg to understand why they are scary. The interactions with the two girls made this book enjoyable because it shows that Megs older sister Sue really cares about Meg and tries to do everything, she can for her. The little humor and banter in the story between the two really shows how sisters can be. This picture book is wonderful right from the story line to the amazing pictures in it.

Tally and the Angel: Book Three, Japan by Eleanor Dixon – Review by Jennifer Reimer

Japan (Tally and the Angel #3)Japan by Eleanor Dixon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

In this book we go on an adventure with Tally, her dad and Tally’s angel Jophiel to Japan. As they explore the Japanese culture, history, and traditions. Tally is a strong, courageous, brave smart young girl. This is the third book in this series and even thou you could get away with reading then not in order I feel you would miss out on the way tally matures and how she grows into the young women she will be. This book is well written that it feels like you are standing there in the book. I absolutely love how tally seems to find something interesting to get herself involved in and then have us wondering how and when she’s going to get herself out. A mystery that surrounds around Miyu and Yoshi, a ghostly queen, mystical beings, warriors, secrets and curses. I have read the other first two books to this series and I have to say just like the other ones this one did not disappoint. You can read these books any way you want but I think you would be more enjoyable to start from the beginning. I could not get enough of this book. This book was so intense that I was sucked in and couldn’t stop till I finished. Its fast pace so you need to make sure you hold on tight. It kept me on the edge of my seat the whole way thou. It was so detailed and vividly described that it makes you really feel like your right there beside Miranda as she goes, thou her experience of survival and struggles. The other characters of clowns, snakes, an evil corporation, mad scientists made this book very intriguing and just adds that little touch of suspense. I can stress enough on how amazing this book was and how much I really have enjoyed everything about the series and books.

I was really impressed with how this story turned out. I really wasn’t expecting the little things that made this story so different then the fairy tale. I love when authors write their own thoughts on different aspects in their own words when it comes to fairy tales and fantasy. I enjoyed how the author took this a spin it into a steam punk Philadelphia in 1876. I felt like I was really in the story along side these characters, and how each one was woven into the story to make it magical. This book was filled with magic, fantasy, steam punk, realism, and historical facts. This story caught me and wouldn’t let me go till I was done reading it. I couldn’t get enough of the story and kept me on my toes because I kept thinking I was going to know what was going to happen next, but it wasn’t like that, and it really captivated me. This whole series is just amazing. I really enjoyed everything about this book too. I would suggest starting from the beginning because each book has its own battles and action that the main character Titania has to figure out how to save her family and her people. Titania is an amazing strong-willed character that she has become, we watch as she grows and matures more into the queen that her people need. The way the worlds are written you really y feel like you are right there in the story seeing, feeling and smell everything around you and feels incredible magical. The way the characters are written in these stories you really feel like you are part of the family in the story. This book is filled with magic, danger, fantasy, witches, good and evil, a prophecy, challenges and a race against time. This book was amazing, it was so well written, the worlds and the characters were all so well written it felt like you could be right there in the story. I really liked the way the author did a mix of hybrid fantasy characters; I enjoy reading other people’s take on how vampires and werewolves are perceived. This story was very fast paced and packed with action with the battles that you will not want to put this book down till you are done. I however didn’t read the first book, but it was still easy to follow and know what was going on, but I can tell you I will be going back and reading the first one. I do believe I would understand a lot more if I started with book one, but it was still an amazing read and easy to follow and wasn’t that confusing. This book was very enjoyable, and I am happy I picked it up and can’t wait to know if there will be more from this author. Highly recommend this amazing book.

I honestly don’t know if I can put into words or how to explain this book. This book is written from a teenager’s point of view on what she went thou during the war. This book was filled with so much emotion from pain, fear, love, protection, horror, survival, and so much more that you could feel these coming from the pages of the book. The author is such a strong will woman and telling her story really makes you praise her for her strength to be able to tell her story of everything she has gone thou. This book made me really think about the mundane things in life that I never would have taken for granted while she was fighting to survive this war. This book had me turning pages in anticipation to know what was going to happen next and to see how they were going to get thou the whole situation.

The characters were very well written that it made me feel like I know them and was in the story with them. Amy is a strong lead character that has some very powerful magic. the story itself is very well paced and easy to keep track of what is going on. There were a few twists and turns in the story that I did not expect and kept me reading more. This book was filled with magic, fantasy, paranormal, romance, danger, drama, action, and so much more. This was an all out good book to start a series, I did not know that there is a prequel and really feel like I would know more to go with this book, even thou it was good on its own.
