Two Hearts Under Fire (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8) by Tamara Ferguson – Review by Heather Bass

TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE (Two Hearts Wounded Warrior Romance Book 8)TWO HEARTS UNDER FIRE by Tamara Ferguson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have read a few books from this author but she continues to blow me away. This is the eighth book in the two hearts wounded warrior series. I have read this series from the beginning but this story could be read as a stand alone. I absolutely love military romance but this talented author always exceeds my expectations. When I got this book I stopped everything and started to read it right away. It only took me a little over a day to devour this amazing story.

A couple of years ago Russ’s team got into a lot of trouble. He nearly escaped but some of his team didn’t. Now Russ is being framed for something that did not happen all those years ago. He needs to find out who is making his life really hard. Russ goes to his long time friend Brand and his wife for help but he meets the gorgeous Claire instead. He feels something for this woman he just met but he needs to stay focused. Then all of a sudden an assassin tries to take their lives. The only thingis who was the real target. Russ quickly finds out that Claire also has some secrets of her own. Will Russ be able to find out who is making them hide or will they find him first?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, suspense, and some mystery. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Russ is still trying to heal from his past. He needs to know who is framing him so he can get his life back. Claire is a beautiful woman that knows what she wants. She has been through a lot in her past as well. These two characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will keep you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what she will write for us next.

Proper Irish (Jaded Lily #1)Proper Irish by Zeia Jameson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first book I have read from this author and now she has a new fan. I love a good enemy to lovers story but this talented author exceeded my expectations. This is the first book in the Jaded Lily series. I could not put this book down for anything. These characters drew me in right from the beginning. It only took me a few hours to devour this amazing book.

Stella is a well known event planner. She loves her job so much that is all she thinks about. Stella has to plan a party that can make or break her. She has to plan the St. Patrick’s Day ball for the mayor. Stella has no time for distractions until she runs into a handsome but rude stranger. She feels a connection to this man but she doesn’t understand why. Stella gets to know Padraig and she falls head over heels but they are totally different. She knows that this man is not right for her but what if he is? Will Stella take a chance on this bad boy or will she stay away from him like she should?

I absolutely loved this book. The storyline has it all romance, drama, and healing. You will fall in love with these characters right from the beginning. Stella is a very independent woman that wants a great career. She doesn’t want to be tied down to a man. Padraig is a broody Irishman that loves his mom. He doesn’t like the wealthy due to his past. Padraig is a jerk in the beginning but once you see his heart you will fall in love with him. These characters have some steamy scenes that will make your temperature rise. This talented author will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. I can’t wait to see what this author will write for us next.

The Black Lotus Affair by Lina Vine – Review by Laura Leyman

The Black Lotus Affair (Kiko Ochisan Adventures, #2)The Black Lotus Affair by Lina Vine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is not the usual type of book that I read. But something drew me to this book and I am glad I read it. It was a short and sweet novella about honour. It is fast paced and is jam packed full of everything a novel has, just shorter.
I loved the plot and suspense at every corner. It was brilliant being on the journey with Kiko. I also thoroughly enjoyed the Japanese way if life that was incorporated into this book. I love learning about other cultures.
Definitely recommend this series.

Unlikely to Stay (Parker Lake Book 3)Unlikely to Stay by Ashlie Knapp
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not my first book by Knapp and it will not be my last. If you like stories with sweet hometown characters, stories with simple yet heart felt problems, then you need to read the Parker Lake Series. Unlikely to Stay is book 3 in the series and it is the story of CC and Brant. CC is the hometown Beauty Salon owner while Brant is the newest most eligible bachelor in town. However, Brant is only in town to serve a 3-year internship. This is another cute sweet story that will makes Ashliee Knapp a certifiable one-click author! If you have not read any of her books you could very easily pick this one to start with. There is some back story told about CC’s friends which are books 1 and 2 in this series but each book is about a new couple. The other stories are a must read as well. I don’t think there is any one thing that I love about this book, it is just an over all good story. I can definitely recommend this story to readers young and old alike.

Caught In A Lie (The Marcy Series Book #6) by Linda Burson – Review by Angela Hayes

Caught In A Lie (The Marcy Series Book 6)Caught In A Lie by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Caught in a Lie is the sixth book in the Marcy Series by Linda Burson. This series contains a continuing storyline that bridges from one book to the next, so if you haven’t the previous books the series, I really recommend that you do because otherwise it may be a little confusing if you don’t have all the relevant information. As I said in my last review, this series has hooked me and made me want to find out what will happen next, Ms. Burson is a brilliant storyteller and the more books I read in this series and the way it continues to evolve, the more impressed I am of her as an author and at just how fantastic this book/entire series really is.
As with the previous book, this story has secrets, shocks, emotions, a love triangle/three-way, interesting family/relationship dynamics, romance, suspense, drama, tension, dilemmas, and a bit of revenge. Marcy, Brad and Liam are complex, yet endearing individuals who have easily drawn me into their tale, making me emotionally invested in them and the outcome of their story. The story is written in such a way that it is believable, exploring some interesting situations that can occur in relationships. The character situations and their interactions are believable, realistic and relatable. Ms. Burson still makes her characters ‘work’ for their happiness- while she also throws in a few twists and interesting developments that had my mind whirling trying to figure out where the story would lead next.
Bring on the next book! I can’t wait!

Thank you, Ms. Burson!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Intentional (Intentional Series Book 1) by M.K. Harkins is a romance with a twist and is  quick and fast paced but enjoyable read where betrayal is the name of the game. I knew  something was building and lurking in the background but I was unable to work it out.  MK’s writing is simple but packs a punch in just the right places. The storyline flows  and the characters were interesting and believable and their stories were told in their  POV’s, which I love, and kept me engaged until the end. Can’t wait for book two.

Omg! This series just keeps getting better with every book this author writes. This book was amazing! You need to read this series. The story picks up where the last book ended. Amelia still has no clue about her stalker. He is closing in, getting her to trust him even more. Yet his plans are unraveling somewhat. Although Lis is clueless about many things, she grows tremendously in this novel. It was nice to see her come I to her own and be more confident and comfortable in her own skin.

I have always loved Robins from day one and wanted Amelia and him to be together. In this story, Aiden Keys plays a bigger role and I really like him. I don’t know who I’d rather her be with. I’m so confused. There were so many things that happened in this story that kept me on the edge of my seat. What a page turner! It ended in such a way that left me shocked with my mouth hanging open. You have got to read this book, I highly recommend it.

Lillie (Maggie Trilogy Series Book 3)Lillie by Mya O’Malley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Lillie by Mya O’Malley is the last instalment in the Maggie Trilogy series and does not disappoint, it is full of the mystery and suspense of the other books but concludes this great series.

The story continues on with Bryce, Naomi and Holly, where Naomi has sold her house and moved in with Bryce but his houses holds secrets too.

Naomi hears a strange crying and goes to investigate but uncovers secrets from her past which she needs to uncover to move on.

I have loved theses stories and great characters, the riches of the story draws you into the book where you are so involved you need feel you have to finish just the page, then chapter and before you know it you have read the book. The story is well written and you will enjoy all the characters not just the living.

I am sad that this is the last book within this series but what a great book to finish on, I can’t wait to see what new series or other books this author writes because as they are on my list of must read authors.

I love this series, I always know when I open up another book by this author that it will make me feel good and this one was no exception. I will admit though that reading them all so far apart I get a bit confused with names which is why I can’t wait someday in the near future to take a weekend and read every one of them back to back.

Two people who meet and have a connection yet are both loyal to the connections they are already involved in move forward in their duties separately and both end up injured while taking part in special missions near Iraq, him losing a leg and her her arm. They both end up back in one of my favorite places Crystal Rock, Wisconsin to both participate in a program retraining wounded warriors, both of them as instructors.

Both of them have been hurt by the same prior relationships that had kept them apart years earlier and have now swore off long term relationships, but the connection they both felt is still there and when they come together to help protect a woman who is convinced her husband is trying to kill her they find they have more in common they they thought. Can these break down the walls they each have built and find happiness?

This was another feel good story and I can not wait for the next …There’s a lot more to Claire’s story I think and I can’t wait to read about her and a few others.

Awesome!! Loved It!!

Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee – Review by Angela Hayes

Fur VeronaFur Verona by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Fur Verona by Gwyn McNamee is her brilliant take on ‘Romeo and Juliet’. This has a brilliant paranormal twist on the classic tale- and is full of wonder, intrigue, suspense, danger, passion, chemistry, romance, drama, and mystery. Ms. McNamee packs quite a memorable punch with this sexy action-packed tale. There is so much more to the story than I first suspected, but then I really shouldn’t have expected anything less from such a talented author.
We meet Jules Capshaw and Rome Montreux whose families have been feuding for the past 25 years. This long-heated feud has caused tensions between the packs to run at an all time high. The mistrust, anger, resentment, pain and heartache which boils between the two families is set to bubble over at any moment. So, when strange things begin to happen, and threats appear on each of their territories- they can’t help but blame the other side. But when Rome sneaks into a Capshaw party on a fact-finding mission, his world is turned upside down when he lays eyes on the gorgeous Jules. They soon realise that there is no getting away from their powerful attraction and overwhelming feelings for one another. But with their families embroiled in such bitter rivalry, will they ever find a way to be together? Add in the dangerous threat to both sides, and this story gets really exciting. Who is behind the threats and why? What happens when danger comes calling? Will Rome and Jules figure it out before it’s too late? Or will this be the end for them, both?
This story is just so good- I loved every minute! I got to the end and didn’t want to leave! I wanted more!!! Not because the story was lacking, but because it is just sooooo freaking good!! I wanted to stay in Verona and read more about the characters! Not just about Jules and Rome- but about Marc, Lio, Paris, Rose- and the rest. I really hope this won’t be the last we see of Verona. Hint Hint Hint Ms. McNamee ?
The tension, suspense, drama, mystery, and intrigue in this story was so on point! She had me on the edge of my seat wondering what would happen next. And even though this is Ms. McNamee’s take on an old classic that I know so well, she still managed to make it exciting and entirely unpredictable!
Ms. McNamee is a superb and masterful writer…. and HOLY MOLY can she write panty melting, core clenching, knee trembling, and heat inducing sex scenes!!! I always need a cold shower after reading one of her books!!
Bellissimo!!

Thank you, Ms. McNamee!

Code Raven: Prequel (Code Raven Series) by Lynda Filler – Review by Angela Hayes

CODE RAVEN: PrequelCODE RAVEN: Prequel by Lynda Filler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Code Raven is the prequel for the Code Raven series by Lynda Filler. The series is an action-packed adventure, with suspense, special ops, covert missions, drama, and intrigue. This book lays out some of the groundwork, filling in character details, giving backstory and background information that is the foundation for the series which follows. This book moves from past to present and back several times over the course of the book. These flashbacks give us important details that help us better understand the character/s and motivations. The book is a fast-paced novelette, which makes this a very quick and easy read. It is told from several points of view, helping to give us a well-rounded perspective of everything.
This book introduces us to Luke Raven, the head of the Raven Group- a top secret special ops corps. He is a brilliant man; whose accomplishments and talents seem to be limitless, but who has also experience great personal heartache. We really get to know him and the other members of his team. I enjoyed finding out about him and meeting the others- Luci, Alice, Zach, RB, Maggs- and discovering how the Raven Group came to be.
I am looking forward to reading the rest of this series- it looks set to be a thrilling ride.

Thank you, Ms. Filler!

Code Raven is the beginning to an amazing series by Lynda Filler. I have not read anything else by this writer but I know that this is one series that I will be reading – from the beginning to the end!
As the title says Code Raven is a prequel to the series, it is sort of an extended prologue that gives you the framework to put the rest of the series into! It introduces you to the main players, their motivation, their loss, and their drive … It gives you a taste of what is to come and I am so happy to know that I have the first story already downloaded on my reader!
It is an action packed and mind bending read that will not allow you to put the story down after you have started! Welcome in to the world of Raven Group folks!

This review is going to be short, sweet and to the point. Pick up this book. Seriously, pick it up. Although the book is a short novella that is setting up the series, it was AMAZING.

Luke Raven is the founder of the Raven Group. A highly intelligent, motivated secretive billionaire that has been dealt a blow after the death of his wife and son. How will this change him?

Lynda Filler does a wonderful job setting up this story with this short novella. Not only do you learn what made Luke Raven the man he is today, you also meet a whole slew of interesting sub characters. From the beginning, Ms. Filler hooks the reader and takes you on a few twists and turns but leaves you wanting more. This book is a super-fast read but that’s okay because it will get you to the next book in the series just that quickly. From one avid reader to another. GET THIS BOOK!

Who We Might’ve Been (Billie Dixon Series Book #3) by D.L. Pitchford – Review by Angela Hayes

Who We Might've Been (Billie Dixon, #3)Who We Might’ve Been by D.L. Pitchford
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Who We Might Have Been is the third and final book in the Billie Dixon trilogy series by D.L. Pitchford. It is a wonderful new adult story that explores some of the issues that come with early adulthood, relationships, family, friendship, choices, and learning more about one’s self.
We met Billie Dixon in the first book and have followed her through her journey. So, if you haven’t read the first two books in this series yet, I strongly suggest that you do- as this series is a continuation of a storyline that you need to have all the facts for, in order to fully enjoy this book.
In three books Billie has been through quite a lot and had to negotiate some tough situations. But what I like most about this series is the Billie has grown and developed as the story has progressed- she is not quite the same insecure, introverted, artistic, and mathematically minded first year college student we met in book one. That’s not to say that everything has been smooth sailing since then, far from it- I am just impressed by how far she’s come. I have mentioned in the past that I didn’t really like her much to begin with, but Ms. Pitchford and Billie have won me over since then. This book took me completely unawares, by bringing Dahlia onto the scene- I do remember her from the previous book and I was so surprised with the direction the story took by her addition. I am most definitely #teamXander, so I had mixed feelings about this part of the storyline.
I feel that this book is very much a character driven story- that’s not to say the story is lacking, because it is quite interesting- but the characters are the real gems in this story- they are very authentic, complex, believable and over-all quite endearing.
This is the final book in the trilogy, and my favourite of the series….. but I hope this isn’t the last we see of Billie- the author did a great job tying up the threads of the storyline and giving me some closure, but the way the story ended, leaving an opening to add more at a later date, gives me hope that we may get the chance to revisit again some day!
I wonder what Ms. Pitchford has in store for us next?

Thank-you, Ms. Pitchford!

Game Changer (Alterations #2)Game Changer by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Game Changer is the second book in the Alterations series by Jane Suen. This is a very quick and easy read, full of suspense, drama, and some science fiction elements.
We met Ellen, Gigi, Lilly, and Dr. Kite in the previous book, and catch up with them again in this story just after the events of book one. After the fire destroyed Dr. Kite’s research, it seemed that all his hopes went up in flames. But, was everything destroyed? Is there a chance that he may be able to resurrect his implant experimentation?
Each of the women appear to be going from strength to strength- but I feel that there is a lot more to this story than meets the eye. But with some getting up to their old tricks, and others plotting revenge, this story had me avidly reading, trying to keep up and find out what was happening.
This was an interesting and thought-provoking story, and as with the first book, the plot was quite complex for such a short story. The story is told from several points of view, and I feel that maybe this detracted just a little from the overall storyline, especially considering the length of the book. I fell it would have worked a lot better in a longer novel.
The story is quite a unique concept and an enjoyable read. The story is set to continue in the next book, and the way it’s shaping up it has the potential to be amazing!

Thank you, Ms. Suen!

Brody (Default Distraction Series Book #1) by A.S. Roberts – Review by Angela Hayes

Brody (Default Distraction #1)Brody by A.S. Roberts
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Brody is the first book in a wonderful new series, Default Distraction, by the supremely talented A.S. Roberts. This is a superb Rockstar romance that had me captivated right from the very first page. It’s full of passion, some suspense, drama, secrets, emotion, romance, chemistry, humour, and all the elements necessary to make this a riveting read.
Amy Harper has had her fair share of heartache, it has left her wary of getting close to anyone, because then she couldn’t be hurt when she was cast aside in the end. She has her beloved grandmother, a few close friends, and the little shop she holds so dear. The business is struggling to keep afloat, but Amy really hopes to somehow find a way to turn things around. In her small community in rural England, everyone knows everyone, so she is surprised when a sexy stranger finds his way into her shop. She’s intrigued by him and can’t seem to get him off her mind, long after he’s gone. With Christmas just around the corner, and her shop closing for the holidays, her cousin persuades her to help out at the opening of the newly renovated Manor, an historic old estate that has been converted into a luxury hotel. So, in the hope of earning some much-needed funds, Amy agrees. Fate seems to keep placing her in situations where she runs into her mystery man, more often than not it’s being rescued by him. Things heat up between them, and they soon find themselves unable to resist the intense chemistry that surges between them. But Amy’s past experiences soon have her pushing him away and running from her feelings. Will her fear of heartache cause her to miss a chance of finding happiness?
Brody Daniels is the lead singer of the massively successful band, Default distraction. His fame has afforded him the wealth and all the luxuries that one could ever wish for, not to mention all the women falling at his feet. Even so, he feels like something is missing from his life. The Rockstar lifestyle isn’t everything it’s cracked up to be. He and his bandmates have purchased The Manor and put a lot of time and money into restoring it to it’s former glory. While in town for the grand opening, he notices a gorgeous woman and is immediately captivated by her. He can’t stop thinking about her and desperately wants to get to know her. He doesn’t do relationships, so this is a new experience for him. After walking into her shop just so he had an excuse to talk to her, he finds himself coming to her rescue several times. One thing leads to another and he spends an unforgettable night with her. Amy proves to be a little skittish, but he won’t let her push him away, he’s determined to prove to her that he’s worth taking a chance on. But will his secret be the thing that drives them apart?
There is sooo much to love about this book, I really feel that I am not doing it the justice that it truly deserves. You really should read it for yourself and discover all the deliciously sexy details for yourself.
Ms. Roberts writes so beautifully- she has a real talent for getting her story and characters to really connect with the reader, pulling them in and captivating them with her words. The energy and tension she is able to create in her stories, and between the characters, is truly masterful. I can’t imagine anyone reading her stories and not enjoying every word.
The characters are really well written, full developed and wonderfully endearing. I loved everything about them. I also felt for them, my heart ached hearing their back stories and I wanted to give them both a massive hug. I loved meeting all the secondary characters as well, and watching some of the groundwork being laid out here for their own stories in the future. I can’t wait to read every intriguing detail!!
This book has a great pace, there isn’t a dull moment to be found anywhere- it flows smoothly and is a joy to read. But be prepared for a book binge, as you won’t want to put it down! I read it in one session, staying up long past my bedtime just so I didn’t have to put it down before knowing what would happen.
Bring on book two!

Thank you, Ms. Roberts!

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book #2) by C.A King – Review by Angela Hayes

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Strength from Words is the second book in the Four Horsemen series by C.A King. I have read all of Ms. Kings books now, and this series has quickly become my firm favourite of hers. That is really saying something, because I have seriously loved all her books- but there is just something about this series, and this book in particular, which has really captured my imagination. The story drew me in and I lost all sense of time and my surroundings, as the story swept me up on a fantastic adventure. I was so lost in the story, and so when the end came, I really wasn’t ready to leave- I wanted to keep reading. This is one of those few occasions where the writing is so on point, the storyline is so captivating, the characters are so believable and likeable, that you can’t help but wish the story was much longer, so you could stay in that world with them for a few more hours. I am excited that there is another book(s) coming
This series is Ms. King’s take and twist on the four horsemen myth and what she has produced is a very creative and imaginative urban fantasy that has demigods, demons, good vs evil, mystery, suspense, action, drama, a little romance, and supernatural elements.
Gabrielle is one of the 4 horsemen, who along with her brothers has been tasked with guarding the gates to hell. As the only female among the horsemen she feels the need to constantly prove herself. Especially when most people assume that she would be a male to do that job. Gabrielle really isn’t a people person, preferring her books instead. But, on a foray out into the world, she is drawn to a man who needs her help to evade some demons who are hell bent on capturing him. There is something about him that intrigues her like no one else has ever before. But, with evil stalking him and danger an ever-present threat- she will need all her wits and skills in order to figure it all out and keep them safe.
Ryder has had a pretty hard life and has the worst luck ever. We meet him as he’s being sentenced for a crime that he didn’t commit- and finds himself having to do a year of community service at the Ancient History Library. But strange things have been happening, and he soon finds himself in a situation that he finds hard to comprehend. Out of the blue, a gorgeous woman sweeps in just in the nick of time. But the danger is far from over, and it’s no longer just his life on the line. With sinister plots and evil intent, will Ryder survive, or will the evil forces out for his blood win out in the end?
Fantastic reading!!!
Can’t wait for ‘Hitting the High Note”, which is Uriel’s story- the next book in this series!!

Thank you, Ms. King!

Player is book one in What Happens On Campus series written by M.L. Sparrow and it the first book that I have read buy this author. Player is an adult sports romance that hits all the right spots. We get to see plenty of action on this campus. The characters are well written and are mature for their ages especially what they have been through. The plot was believable with college kids and their struggles and triumphs.

Chloe Newman accepts a scholarship to study a St. Joseph’s University after a tragic accident which leaves her tormented by guilt, she needs a fresh start so she leaves England and heads to Texas.
Here she meets the schools charming quarterback on her first night. However, Parker Mitchell is a player both on and off the field.

Game Changer (Alterations #2)Game Changer by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Game Changer is the second book of the Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen and is a sci fi  story of sorts. It is a very quick read, the same as the first but it holds you from start to  finish. This book picks up where the first book left off and carries on in the same vein  but has an under current of mystery and feels a tad sinister. As there is multiple  characters with a story, reading the first book is essential or you will not know what is  going on. The story is told in multiple POV’s so it gives an insight into each characters  life. As this is a trilogy I expect everything that is coming will end in an explosive way.  Looking forward to see what Jane has left in store for our characters.

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2) by C.A. King – Review by Jana Teppih

Drawing Strength From Words (A Four Horsemen Novel Book 2)Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Drawing Strength From Words by C.A. King is the second book in her Four Horsemen series. Finally, it is here! I read the first story and I could not wait for the second one! It is a remarkable paranormal series where it seems that it somehow becomes better with each book (like wine …). If you love mythology then absolutely this series is for you – I am sure you have heard the legend of the four horsemen before and let me tell you, the writer has put an interesting spin on it!
Drawing Strength from Words is the story of Gabrielle and Ryder. Gabrielle is the second horseman and surprise surprise the second horseman really is … a woman! And what a woman she is – independent, powerful, resourceful, confident … and oh so lovable! Ryder, he is a perfect match for her – he is as closed as her but there is bond there and it keeps growing and … yeah, the writer is taking us on one heck of a ride, no pun intended.
It is a beautiful story that mixes the ancient myth and contemporary life and love … what else do you need? Cannot wait for the third story, I wonder what that horseman will tell us …

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (Lucky Devil Book 1) by Megan Mackie – Review by Heather Bahm

The Finder of the Lucky Devil (Lucky Devil #1)The Finder of the Lucky Devil by Megan Mackie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Megan Mackie’s The Finder of the Lucky Devil is the first in the Lucky Devil series. This science fiction/fantasy novel has a little bit of everything mixed within in: suspense, drama, fantasy/science fiction, heartbreak, strife and more. I didn’t initially plan to read this story, but once I began, I was engrossed within the book. The author has created multi-faceted characters with hypnotizing sequences, action and addictive suspense. Rune’s the lead character is this story and she was so well written. Let’s not forget the Lucky Devil, so imaginative, creative and ingenious. This story was done correctly and is definitely one you should take a chance on.

Caught in a Lie (Book 6) by Linda Burson – Review by Jenni Bishop

Caught in a Lie (Book 6)Caught in a Lie by Linda Burson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Caught in a lie is the sixth book in The Marcy Series by Linda Burson and is a  contemporary romance story. Each book in the series gets better and better and one I  have loved since the first book. I love these characters and feel like I am a part of their  journey, their love, their life, their unwavering love and commitment to each other.  Emotions run high and strong from anger and frustration, insecurities and love, pain  and heartache, heartbreak and excitement and you feel everyone of them. When they  laugh you laugh, when they break you break with them. I love and enjoy reading about  Marcy and the men in her life. Let me tell you, there were tears shed reading this one.     As usual Linda’s words had me turning page after page to see what was going to  happen next and I couldn’t stop until I had finished devouring each and every word.  The next book can not come quick enough.

Player (What Happens on Campus #1) by M.L. Sparrow – Review by Jessica Leombruno

PlayerPlayer by M.L. Sparrow
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I found Player by M.L. Sparrow more enjoyable than the last couple of NA Sport Romance books that I have read. The writing was smooth and very evenly paced. I liked that the romance wasn’t rushed and even though Chloe and Parker tried to be friends first; they both knew it wasn’t going to work. This book is the perfect world building book; most of that drama sets around the other characters to set up those books. Don’t get me wrong, Chloe and Parker did have their share of drama but they fit together so well it didn’t make too big of a mess for their relationship. Overall, I would recommend this book if you’re looking to start a new New Adult College romance series.

The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga Series Books #1-3) by Effie Kammenou – Review by Angela Hayes

The Gift Saga Trilogy (The Gift Saga #1-3)The Gift Saga Trilogy by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Gift Saga Trilogy by Effie Kammenou is now available in one great package, all three books in this fantastic box set. I had previously read all three book and adored them, it really is such a superb series. So, when I saw this box set was now available, it was a great excuse to dive into the series and experience it all over again. And I have to say that I enjoyed it just as much as I did the first time, only this time there was no wait between books. #WINNING.
The series contains theses three books:

Evanthia’s Gift: The Gift Saga Series Book #1:
4 Stars
Evanthia’s Gift is the first book in the Gift Saga by Effie Kammenou.
This story kept coming up on my book feed and I kept looking at it, but never took the plunge as I wasn’t really sure of what to expect. But after reading a few reviews and then having it recommended by a friend, I finally decided to jump in.
We watch the story unfold, meeting Anastasia Fotopoulos- and follow her journey, meeting her friends and family and the complexities that come along the way. The story spans about 50 years, so it is definitely a saga. This book did take me by surprise, because I ended up loving it so much more than I thought I would.
This book is about betrayal, heartache, single parenthood, friendship, bonds, struggles, love, secrets, acceptance, cultural divides, blending of families, family pressure, heritage, responsibility, expectation, romance, and overall- a wonderful multigenerational love story.
A story that tugged at my heartstrings.

Waiting for Aegina: The Gift Saga Series Book #2:
4 Stars
Waiting for Aegina is the second book in The Gift Saga by Effie Kammenou.
We pick up right where the Evanthia’s Gift finished off. And again, we are treated to a beautiful story that tugged on my heartstrings. The author writes beautifully, painting vivid images with her words. The details and descriptions transported me into the story and I followed along as the story transpired. This journey of friendship, connections, and love is a fitting sequel to the first book. I loved catching up with characters from the first book, as well as meeting some new ones. The characters really make this story special.
I think this book is a little more complex and dramatic than the first one. But every bit as enjoyable. The Greek culture and heritage depicted in the story adds an honest, fascinating and enlightening element to the book.
The story has a great pace, a smooth flow and is easy to read. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this awesome saga.

Chasing Petalouthes: The Gift Saga Series Book #3
5 Stars
Chasing Petalouthes (Chasing Butterflies) is the third and final book in The Gift Saga by Effie Kammenou. What a great series this has been, and what a way to bring this saga some closure. There is tragedy, flawed characters, heart ache, trying to find your place in the world- all wrapped up in this ‘next generation’ coming of age story.
The story was every bit as good as the other two, but seemed to manage to etch itself just a little deeper into my heart. This book/series has been so lovingly crafted by Ms. Kammenou. She has a really wonderful way with words, and a style that lends itself to stories that will evoke emotion in the reader.
Ms. Kammenou’s vivid imagery paints a ‘landscape’ using words, bringing this beautiful story/series to ‘life’- the story becomes so visual. The story had me so tied up in knots, emotionally, right from the beginning. I really felt for these characters and what they were, and had been though. I did wonder quite a lot through the story about what the end would have in store for them. This story/ series is wonderful, but the characters are really what makes it so special- and I have enjoyed every step of the way- heartache, happiness and all.
I think this book is my favourite of the series, Ms. Kammenou leaving the best till last! It is a little sad to think this journey is over, but I am also intrigued by what Ms. Kammenou will do next.

This series is incredibly good- full of Greek culture, family traditions, love, friendship, heartache, happiness, determination, emotion, and sooo much more all wrapped up in this captivating saga.
I really recommend this series to everyone who loves a great sweeping saga with a wonderful story, interesting and endearing characters who pull you into their tale/s, and a truly unforgettable read! You won’t be disappointed!!

Thank you, Ms. Kammenou!

Player (What Happens on Campus #1) by M. L. Sparrow – Review by Ashleigh Whitwell

PlayerPlayer by M.L. Sparrow
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The first instalment of the What Happens on Campus series, Player is a new adult sports romance that hits all the right spots. Set in a Texan college, this book had everything I was hoping for and more. I cannot recommend it enough and have already downloaded the next book to read!

Full disclosure, I love a sports romance. Literally any sport and I’m obsessed with whatever book it is, especially if our leading man happens to play American football; even better if he’s the quarterback! As an English girl, like our leading lady Chloe, this allows me to escape into all of my fantasies. Basically, I’ve decided that I am Chloe and her story is now my own. I love this character and everything about her. Having suffered a traumatic event just a few years earlier, she is still learning how to cope with her new life. I love the mix of vulnerability and independence that she has and how despite everything, she has still found the strength to continue with her dreams. I not only want to be her, I want to be her friend, too. What more could you want in leading lady?!

Chloe has something else I want, too: Parker’s attention. What a dream of a man. Yes, he is a bit of a player, but what girl doesn’t love a bit of confidence? He’s a confident, cheeky athlete who also wears a hat (yes, I’m a sucker for this), so he’s basically my own personal version of heaven. While his timing sometimes leaves a lot to be desired, I really loved his and Chloe’s relationship. I won’t ruin the whole story for you, prepare yourself for some emotional moments!

On top of everything else that is perfect about this book, I loved the cast of supporting characters that supported Chloe and Parker. Riley is a particularly interesting character and I can’t wait to find out more about her past in the next book in the series, Flirt. This was a truly brilliant read and I’m about to throw myself straight into the next one!

The Past Returns (The Marcy Series Book 5) by Linda Burson – Review by Jenni Bishop

The Past Returns (The Marcy Series Book 5)The Past Returns by Linda Burson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Past Returns is the fifth book in The Marcy Series by Linda Burson and is a  contemporary romance story and one hell of a series. These characters and feel like  family as I follow their journey and commitment to each other. Their trials and  tribulations of trying to make their unusual relationships work cause emotions to run  high. Insecurities and love, playful and funny banter and excitement cause your heart  to beat a little faster and when they cry you cry, when they laugh you laugh right along  with them. This is another page turner and one you once again can’t put down until you  know exactly where it ends. Bring on book six.

Misfortune of Time: Druid’s Brooch Series, #6 by Christy Nicholas – Review by Jenni Bishop

Misfortune of Time (Druid's Brooch #6)Misfortune of Time by Christy Nicholas
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Misfortune of Time: Druid’s Brooch Series, #6 by Christy Nicholas is a historical  fantasy story.Whilst it can be read as a standalone, I suggest reading the others to  understand the characters and the world they live in. The story started off a little slow  but quickly picked up pace as the suspense kicked in. Christy’s writing takes you back  in time to a beautiful time and place that you can imagine. But it is a cruel existence for  our main character, where she lives with abuse and her decision to survive. Her rich  and vibrant words have you hanging on each and every word and keeps the pages  turning and enjoying the magical world she has created.
