found this coming of age tale absolutely charming. The author puts so much detail into her characters and world building that the story just comes alive for you. We join Nix and Zoe in their past and the present and even into the little bit of future we can see.
Stories about mystical beings always grab my attention, but this one dragged me down between its covers and wouldn’t let go until I read the final page.
Truly a magical tale full of light and dark, happy and sad, friendship and love. K.M. Wray and The Twilight Realm Trilogy have a forever fan!

What a delightful whimsical story! Nix, the Crown Prince, has to go into hiding after watching his parents slaughter at a young age. Zoe, an elf, is the daughter of the traitors who killed Nix’s parents so they could rule the Twilight Realm. Little did these two realize how much they need each other until their paths cross. This was such a great, easy read. I cannot wait to read the second book.

Amazing world building! I loved the description of the trees they lived in, especially the Royal Tree, and the magic used to make them expand or hide rooms and halls. The book also talks about other ways elves build house with wood and bricks – the non-elf way to do it. Which seemed funny since that is how all our buildings are built! The idea of the different realms and the rivers that connected them, I was learning so much about their world as I read! The main characters were very likable and I was rooting for them throughout the book. Nix is the prince of the Twilight Realm and saw his parents, the king and queen, killed when he was 13 and went into hiding. I had not read many elvish stories before so I loved learning that they are still considered children until they turn 100! Zoe’s parents tricked and killed the king and queen. She was used as a canvas for her mother’s dark magic and tattoos and escaped when she was young. Her magic helps her tattoos come alive and I love her dragons! Nix and Zoe have to work together to make things right in the Twilight Realm. I enjoyed getting to know the nurturing brownies who took care of everyone and Nate the royal advisor. Overall really amazing book!

This book was wonderful from the first page! KW Wray does a fantastic job immersing you in the world of her book with her excellent story telling and in depth descriptions. I haven’t read young adult fantasy in a very long time, and it’s just as wonderful and beautiful as I remember.

Magic, beauty, tragedy, romance, battles, hope, elves, brownies and dragons are all enveloped in this book.

You will want to meet Zoe and Nix as they tell their stories. I really feel that there is some good points about life buried in this book that will speak to many people. Even if you’re not into young adult or fantasy/magic stories, if you like an engaging tale with a wonderfully immersive world – check out this book. I look forward to the rest of the trilogy!

Great YA Fantasy full of magic, elves . First I have to say the cover of this book is beautiful and really caught my eye. This is a great story of Nix and Zoe. Nix (aka Prince Phoenix) was young when his mother and father, whom were queen and king of the Twilight Realm passed away, because of an evil being, Lord Leski. Elek, a royal advisor, keeps Nix safe as promised to the King and when Nix is old enough, he can claim the throne as King of the Twilight Realm.

Zoe grew up being used as “lab rat” by her own mother by creating tattoo’s on Zoe since her magic is living magic. You find out that Zoe’s mother is the Lady Sirina and her father is Lord Leski, whom were responsible for the deaths of Nix’s parents. Zoe gets to a point when being used for her mothers experiments, she runs away from home. Along the way, she meets Nix…

Will Nix and Zoe learn to work together to save the realm? This story is truly fantastic and highly recommended!

It had been awhile since I had read a fantasy novel and this had a lot to live up to and it was up to the task! K.M.Wray has a way with words and is able to spin them to create a wonderful world.

Prince Phoenix of the Elves witnesses both his parents murdered by usurpers to the crown and on that night he knows he must grow up much faster than normal elves. Zoe, daughter of those usurpers, has escaped her mother’s experimentations in hopes of a better life. When they meet neither one knows who the other is. Together they must go up against Zoe’s parents and take back the Twilight Realm and in the process learn about themselves and each other.

There are so many ways this story could go and I look forward to reading that journey.

I’ll admit I haven’t read too many fantasy books although I love fantasy characters and I’m glad I picked up this book. The characters were amazing. The writing was superb. I felt like I was right there with Nix and Zoe. Gather your elven friends and give this book a chance. You won’t regret it.

Twilight’s Curse by K.M. Wray is the first book in the Twilight Realm Trilogy. This is a brilliant YA fantasy book that really captures interest of all readers.
The story is an exciting one. It grabs your attention right from the start and really pulls you into it. Zoe and Nix are such great characters. They for me make the story. It can like you could really connect with them and the journey they go on.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it was definitely a good one yo start with. I think it really showcased how strong the writing is and I am excited to ready the rest of the Trilogy.

Twilight’s Curse is the first in a fantasy series about the Twilight Realm.
We find the story centered on Zoe, a magical elf with a long history of abuse, and Nix, the son of the King and Queen of the Twilight Realm.

An intriguing YA fantasy novel, this story had a likeable cast (although I personally found them hard to connect with), interesting world building and a slow burn romance sure to make you keep turning pages. I enjoyed this coming of age story, and look forward to the next book in the series. Definitely pick it up if you are a lover of fantasy!

It took me a while to decide what to say when it comes to Twilight’s Curse by K.M. Wray. I thoroughly enjoyed it and it was very intriguing. My first time reading a book in regards to Elven Fantasy.
The Fantasy realm the author created seemed beautiful in exception to those characters who went against the grain and changed things.
Nix, the Crown Prince Phoenix, is in hiding after watching his parents slaughter at a young age. Zoe, an elf with extremely strong powers, is the daughter of the traitors who killed Nix’s parents so they could rule the Twilight Realm.
When they cross paths they have no idea how important they will be to one another. Nor are they aware that the same elf, Nate, was the one who mentored both of them.
Escaping from the regent was the only thing Zoe could do to stop the experiments her mom kept performing on her. Tattooing her skin with different spells that contain dark magic, little does her mother know that the light within her daughter is too great for the dark magic, which Zoe uses to her advantage.
Together Nix and Zoe have to help take down her parents and guide him to his rightful place, as King of the Twilight Realm.

Twilight’s Curse (Twilight Realm Series Book 1) by K. M. Wray – Review by Allyson Ware

People always say not to judge a book by its cover. That is easy enough for me to overlook, but the title of the book is what catches my eye. When I started this book based on the title, I never imagined it would turn out the way it did. Does the title make sense now? Of course. However, when I read this book, this is what I imagined “The Girl With the Dragon Tattoo” would be about.

This novel is enveloped in a vast array of magic and uncertainty; within the characters, of course. Nix and Zoe each tell their story in a way that leaves the reader wanting more information. You get to watch these two find themselves through each other. I feel that this novel would be amazing for any uncertain soul; there are a few amazing lessons that have the potential to be incredibly helpful to anyone willing to take such advice.

I really enjoyed this elven story. The characters are multi-faceted and complex; they have weathered their own hardships and become very interesting characters. A lot happens in the plot, and I was hooked, wondering what would happen next. Nix and Zoe are both great heroes, even though they each doubt themselves in different ways. Their mentor manages to be supportive, encouraging, and helpful, nudging them into confronting their demons, but never over-stepping or pointing the way. Despite their misgivings, they are destined for greatness, and I enjoyed every minute of watching them grow into the confident, capable beings they were meant to be. I look forward to the continuation of the story.

A fully-loaded start to the series! What I enjoyed most about this book was the complex world-building and well-rounded characters. Starting from Nix’s background story to Zoe’s beginning, we learn about their dark lives before the two meet. Though their reasons are their own, the two are like two halves of a whole in the events of the book and hold your attention from the first page until the last. The fantastical elements in this YA story are more like the complex elements you see in other/older books – but done in a clean way. Twilight’s Curse has set the pace for what I hope to be an enthralling next couple of books!

First off, it’s been so long since I’ve read a good Elvish story! K.M Wray did an amazing job with this book. I don’t think I could praise it enough. The characters jumped off the pages, the world building was beautiful, magical, and vivid. Her attention to detail and ability to tie it all together really brought the story to another level. If you love strong female leads who know their way around a sword and a guy who will stop at nothing to rescue his people even if it means dodging a few daggers to get the help he needs then this is the book for you! Twilight curse is the first book in the Twilight Realm Trilogy. It has magic, adventure, character growth, meaningful lessons, and even a little romance!

This book was amazing! I always enjoy reading teen and young adult books just as a way to destress and because I’m a sucker for a fantasy story. I adored the way the point of view alternated back and forth, and the connections between the two main characters that were multi-level. The way the characters were so unique made me just need to know how they were going to succeed at their goal! I really can’t wait to see what comes next! Also, Zoe’s tattoos and the differences between her and Nix in the way they grew up are really present and still beautiful. It makes so much sense in the way they approach each other and the world in general.

I give, Twilight’s Curse: Book 1 Twilight Realm Trilogy by K.M. Wray, 5 stars.

This is YA fantasy at its finest. I will tell you though that is is not a story full of only light and happiness. There is darkness and tragedy, but not too much for the YA reader this is intended for. The premise of this book actually starts with tragedy. But that does not mean that is all this book has to offer. There are good, light moments too. At the heart, this is about our two main characters struggling with who they were and what they are supposed to be. All of the characters in this story are very unique and special. Besides a good story, characters are what really make a book phenomenal. The author has achieved this in spades.

Then there is the story itself. It is essentially a coming of age story based around Nix and Zoe. Like I have mentioned, there is pain and tragedy, but here is also light, hope, and love. I was constantly turning the page, wondering what would happen next.

This is a YA fantasy that weaves a tale you will not soon forget. While it is written for for young adult to enjoy, it really is for adults too. I cannot wait for the next book!

Twilight's CurseTwilight’s Curse by K.M. Wray

The writing.. the story.. the characters… ALL OF IT! It’s amazing. I did not want to put this book down, but life forced me to take a couple of days to finish it. KM Wray did an amazing job getting this story down on paper and introducing us all to an incredible world full of elves, brownies, and other mystical beings.
We start out learning the origin story of Nix and everything that he had to go through as a child with losing his parents and watching his realm be taken over by the people that killed them. He and his father’s royal advisor fled the Royal tree and remained in hiding for some time to make the regents believe that the prince had not survived. Nate advised him and taught him all that he could while remaining his mentor over the years. He wanted Nix prepared for when the time came for him to finally take his rightful place as the new King. There are a few time-jumps that take place, so we rely on present-day memories to help us fill in the gaps of missing time.
We then meet Zoe – we do a couple of time jumps with her as well until we’re in the present time. She was experimented on by her parents with painful tattoos, treated horribly by her brother, and finally fled the fortress with one of the younger girls that had also been getting the experimental tattoos and treatment. When she fled, she had nowhere to go and ended up with a character that we already know. She is tough, resilient, and is learning from her new home and life experiences. Her goal is to stop her mother and save anyone else who has become a victim of those horrible experiments.
The two of them meeting and filling in the blanks of their histories really held my attention. There was a future foretold that seems to be coming true, there are surprises that you never see coming, and I love the friendship that appears to slowly be turning into something more as time goes on. I cannot wait to see what the rest of the series brings. I look forward to reading the rest of this trilogy. If you haven’t picked it up yet, it’s the time! Thank you, KM Wray, for writing something SO GOOD!

This was a truly creative and whimsical story of a young prince trying save his kingdom. Young Nix saw his parents die while trying to save him after the Royal Tree was breached by the bad elves. Their child, Zoe, as it turns out; is one to help and is torn with love family loyalty (you’ll learn about that in the story). She is the one also help Nix take his Kingdom back from her parents. This story has all the feels. I had tears, chuckled a few chuckled, got a little pissed and felt all the feels with the characters. i love the action and the fact that you feel engaged in the story. It is written for young adults; yet all ages will enjoy it. It grabbed my attention from the start and I couldn’t put it down. I am raising my grandson. I am tickled to see such exciting and adventurous books coming out that I can actually enjoy with him. It gives us something to talk about other than Legos, but we might build dragons so this story has been two fold. Thanks for writing such a good book. I can’t wait for the next book. Readers, get out there and get a copy. You won’t be sorry. Highly recommend.

Trying to make the world a better place for everyone and trying to get the kingdom out from the control of his parents, was just amazing. Nix is an amazing character and is so well written, that he is the hero if the story. The control his parents have over everyone is such a fear base that no one was standing up, but betrayed from his own family, Nix tries to make it right. I really hope that there will be more to this story. I enjoyed it and kept me on the edge of my seat the whole time.

This is a great YA fantasy adventure. It is a fast paced story which had me hooked from the first page to the last. It’s the first book in The Twilights Realm Trilogy and I  can’t wait to see how this story unfolds. The author does an amazing job with the characters. Both Nix and Zoe are strong characters and both have had to over come a lot of tragedy to get to where they are today.

Nix is the Prince of the Twilight Relam. After witnessing his parents being murdered he goes into hiding until he is mature enough to take his rightful place on the throne. However after what he witnessed he doesn’t know whether he will ever return to take his place as King.
The people who murdered his parents are still out there waiting for their change to take over the throne.

Zoe is the daughter of the people responsible for Nix’s parents death. Her life with her parents was no picnic with her mother using her to experiment on and test her magic. However what her mother doesn’t know is that Zoe has more power that she could ever imagine. Spotting her opportunity Zoe escapes and goes into hiding to get away from her parents. Things were going fine until Nix storms into her life.

Both of them have a score to settle and people they care about in danger they both need to work together to overcome their shared enemy. Can they work together to achieve their goals and set themselves free?

I loved this book so much, it kept me in anticipation through out reading! I loved the mystery surrounding the main characters as well as the hidden truth that needed to unravel! The book brought on questions for me, and I was left wanting more. The whole mysterious altitude this book gave was wonderfully done!

Zoe and Nix were wonderfully written as well as brought to life. I could not get enough of them personally. They both were different souls, that had to rely on one another to face what they were going through, more less enduring. Both of them were magical in their own way, and I found each of them learned life lessons as i found that was a big part of the book, was emotional drama yes that would lead to peace and understanding that lead to learning something. It was something that spoke with heart to me, and made me feel happy inside to read on! The novel and its plot lines was wonderfully done!

There was so much more to this story though than just action and life lessons. There was danger, mystical beings, mysterious moments, suspense and so much more. I loved the world itself and the descriptive tones the author used to describe it, in truth it was breathtaking to imagine, and the way the story flowed had me hooked. I am very much looking forward to reading the next installment!

The story and the words flowed so evenly and nicely as I read through this book! I loved every aspect of it, and I feel young adults and people who are grown adults who still love their visits to mythical words and fantasy would as well! I certainly did! This was a new author for me, I loved reading this first installment and I will be for sure reading more installments in the series! Highly recommend this book!

I love stories like this! There are some many characters, a lot of action and suspense plus the magical element lead to a good story. We have elves and brownies that garner the attention of the story. I loved following both Zoe and Nix on their individual respective journey then when they mesh together things really get interesting. They both had some early life struggles that tugged at my heart. I was pleased with the growth of each of their characters.

This is a soft ending meaning it will pick up with book 2. I highly enjoyed reading this and look forward to more in this series.

This was a brilliant first book to what I am predicting is going to be an awesome YA fantasy trilogy. I fell in love with Nix and Zoe and the world created by K. M. Wray. Twilight’s Curse is the first book in The Twilight Realm Trilogy by K.M. Wray. It is a YA fantasy adventure story with elves, dragons, magic, action, drama, battle scenes, and emotions.
The world building is original and gives the story its own unique identity. Ms. Wray has done a good job of bringing her ‘world’, characters, and story to life – only I was the barrier to truly enjoying this story as I couldn’t fully connect with the characters or their story. I am hoping that the next book may remedy that, because this type of story is normally my jam. But this has set the trilogy off to an interesting start, laying the foundations, and giving me a taste of what’s yet to come.

Thank you, K.M Wray!
