Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder Book 2) by CJ Cartwright – Review by Karyn Taylor

Body Checked (Astoria Bay Thunder #2)Body Checked by C.J. Cartwright
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 2nd book in the Astoria Bay Thunder Series. I’m a huge sucker for a hockey romance since reading Helena Hunting’s Pucked Series and I loved the first book in this series and was so glad to finally get to read Bridger and Tia’s story.
As this book is written in the same timeframe as the first book in the series we had seen Bridger and Tia in action before and I was so looking forward to getting their full story. Also with the same time frame it was great to re-live Levi and Brynn all over again and be reminded of their amazing story.
I had adored Bridger in the first book and it was great getting to know the real him, not the Bridger that the outside world sees. He’s actually a very sweet adorable guy under the tough hockey enforcer exterior and I loved reading his and Tia’s story. As feisty as Tia comes across there’s a wounded, damaged young woman underneath just needing the right person to make her whole again.
Definitely worth the 5 stars I’m giving it and I’m looking forward to getting to know more of the Astoria Bay Thunder guys sometime soon.

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13 Book 4) by Danielle Jacks – Review by Karyn Taylor

Burned by Fire (Firehouse 13, #4)Burned by Fire by Danielle Jacks
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in a multi-author series set around Firehouse 13. I have read several of this author’s books so far and have always enjoyed them so was happy to read more of her work. I was also interested by the blurb so it was a no brainer for me to read this book.
I really enjoyed Ember and Sol’s story. Sol is a retired firefighter, having sustained an injury in a fire which left him unable to continue in the role. Ember is a relatively new firefighter who had had Sol as her mentor and had always had a bit of a crush on him.
As Sol slips into an alcohol fueled depression due to his enforced retirement, it’s Ember who helps him through this hard point in his life. This is a great friends to lovers romance with the added grit of seeing Sol struggle through this particularly hard time.
I did find the writing a bit disjointed (is that the right term?) and it didn’t flow as well as the other books by this author but I loved the characters and the storyline so still enjoyed the book.

Levi (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 1) by Edith Mackenzie – Review by Karyn Taylor

LeviLevi by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in a new series by an author I hadn’t read before. I really liked the blurb and decided to give an author I hadn’t read before a chance. I do tend to read more ‘spicy’, sometimes erotic books but I do also enjoy a good clean romance too, which this book is.
In this first book we get the story of Levi, one of a set of triplets. Books for other triplets Amos and Elijah are to follow and I’m now looking forward to those.
Levi is an ex Navy SEAL who is asked to protect British aristocrat Bella as she is in hiding waiting to testify against her Russian mafia ex boyfriend. Using the alias Beccy, she’s ‘hired’ to be the nanny of the triplets younger sister Allie following the death of their parents.
I really enjoyed Levi and Bella’s story. The characters are very well written and are relatable. The camaraderie between Levi and the other 2 triplets is great o read and I love how young sister Allie has the 3 men wrapped around her little finger.
The story flows really well and keeps you entertained from start to finish, wanting to keep turning the pages to see what happens next.
If you enjoy a clean romance with well written characters and a good storyline, this is the book for you.

One in A Billion (Pierce Brothers Book 3) by Belinda Williams – Review by Karyn Taylor

One In A Billion (Pierce Brothers, #3)One In A Billion by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in a great series that I’m loving so far. I first became a fan of this author when I read her Freshwater series and I have continued to love her writing through this series so far.
One thing that I do love is that her books are set in her native Australia. It makes such a nice change from reading books set in the US.
In this book we get to know the elusive 3rd Pierce brother Seth, the one who is a billionaire but likes to keep a very low profile. Needless to say his quiet existence is blown out of the water by journalist Victoria Verity who is employed to create a public profile for him.
I loved Seth and Victoria’s story. For a billionaire, Seth is very grounded and down to earth. Yes, he has expensive things but doesn’t flaunt his wealth. Victoria is vibrant and a total breath of fresh air.
While I love reading a good dark romantic suspense, I also love a light hearted, romantic comedy and that’s what you get here. The story flows well and is very entertaining keeping you turning the page and wanting more.
I’d definitely recommend this book.

Devil’s Breath by Lang Johnson – Review by Karyn Taylor

Devil's BreathDevil’s Breath by Lang Johnson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I’m always keen to try out author’s I’ve never read before and when I read the blurb of this book, I just knew that I had to give it a chance. I’m a total sucker for a good romantic suspense novel and that’s exactly what I got with this book.
I was pulled into this story from the very beginning. The author had me hooked straight away and wasn’t willing to let me go. Thankfully, I was a very willing passenger on this great ride. The story flows along quickly and is full of action, intrigue, danger and suspense. Added to that is an almighty blast of angst as the two main characters, would be assassin Sera and her would be victim Cassius top toe around one another.
Set in the dark underworld of drugs, this is dark and raw in parts but is a fantastic read that I just didn’t want to put down.
It is most definitely with the 5 stars that I’m giving it.

The Lie That Binds by Amy Argent – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Lie That BindsThe Lie That Binds by Amy Argent
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a standalone YA romance that I absolutely loved. This is only the 3rd book that he author has published and she’s right up there in my favourite authors list. Her first two books, The Embrace Duet, blew me away and I’ve already re-read them. Could she live up to the pedestal that I’d already put her on? Oh yes she could!! This book is different, being a YA book but by God, it still had all the feels an had me laughing in places and sobbing in other places. This author definitely has an amazing talent for pulling hard on the heartstrings.
Nathan just wants to be like all the other teenagers in his high school but he has a secret that no one can find out or his life will be hell. So when new girl in town Holly accidentally finds out his secret is his life about to implode?
I adored both Nathan and Holly. Nathan is having a really hard time coming to terms with his secret and just wants to be ‘normal’. Holly is a total sweetheart. She’s exactly the type of person you want as your friend. Everyone needs a Holly in their life.
Like a YA romance with lots of angst and heartache? Like a YA with a great romance story? This is definitely the book for you.

Victoriously Yours (Titans of Manhattan Book 4) by Anise Storm – Review by Karyn Taylor

Victoriously Yours (Titans Of Manhattan #4)Victoriously Yours by Anise Storm
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 4th book in a fantastic contemporary romance series that I have loved every book so far. Book 4 is just as good, if not better than the previous three, all of which were 5 star reads in my opinion.
In this series we are getting the stories of 5 guys who are named as the Titans of Manhattan, all successful billionaires in their chosen fields. This time we are getting the story of Jonas Courtland, major hotel developer who has absolutely no inclination to join his three friends in committing to just one woman. Well, that is until Mackenzie Broderick comes back into his life. Mackenzie is the preachers daughter who he seduced at high school as part of a bet with his friends. Little did he know just how much his actions had changed her life.
I loved reading Mackenzie and Jonas’ story. It’s quite angsty, which I love. Watching Mackenzie, who is determined to hate Jonas, fight the feelings she still has for him, makes for some great reading. I was really gripped by their story and hated real life for getting in the way and making me put this book down.
We still have one more titan to go in this series and I can say that I’ll be very sad to see this series end. I’ll just have to read it all again sometime.

The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising Book 1) by Nadia Han – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Mastermind (WaterFyre Rising, #1)The Mastermind by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fantastic first book in a series that looks like being a cracker. This is an author that was totally new to me but I was totally sold by the blurb. It sounded like it was exactly the type of book that I’d really enjoy. Sexy billionaire, brother’s best friend – what more do you need?
Remington (Remi) Starke is a dark brooding sexy billionaire with the world at his feet. Audri Wu is his best friend Grayson’s little sister who is struggling to come to terms with events from her childhood that changed her life.
This isn’t just a contemporary romance story. There is so much more to it. It has the added bonus of being a romantic suspense story with loads of drama, danger and intrigue that totally keep you gripped to the story wanting to know how the story will unravel. Let’s just say that the author has a few surprises that might just throw you.
If you are a fan of the romance part of a story then I can assure you that this story is hot and steamy and does not lack at all in the romance stakes.
I really loved this book and can’t wait to see what the author has in store for the other guys in the WaterFyre Rising world.

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove Book 1) by Shannon Nikole – Review by Karyn Taylor

Finding Starlight (Quimby Grove #1)Finding Starlight by Shannon Nikole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic contemporary romance that I totally lost myself in and loved reading. This was a new author to me and I’m very glad that I chose to take a chance on this book, as I’ll definitely be reading more of their work. In particular, I’m looking forward to reading more from this series.
One thing I don’t comment on much when writing reviews is the book cover. But this book has the very handsome Kamil Nizinski on the cover and that is always a plus point for me. Hero of the book, Beckett’s description matches that of cover model Kamil, so I was able to imagine just how Beckett looks when reading this. A very nice vision to have.
As characters, I adored Ellawyn (Ellie) and Beckett. I also have to add that I totally fell in love with Benji too. His role I the book is just as important, if not more important, than Beckett and Ellie.
This book had everything you need. I laughed and I cried. There is romance and sexy times but there is also drama and danger. The story just pulls you in and doesn’t let you go. I really can’t wait to see what this author has next for the residents of Quimby Grove.

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series (A Dark Sparrow Novel) by India Kells – Review by Karyn Taylor

Dark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book SeriesDark Sparrow Box Set: The Complete 6-Book Series by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

“Six bastard sons, bound by blood. Six smart and sensual women with secrets of their own. And one evil father bent on destroying them all”.
The author of this amazing box set has summed it up perfectly.
Just how much more awesome does it get than when one of your favourite authors puts all 6 outstanding books in a series into 1 perfect box set?
This is one of those series that I know I’ll read over and over and never tire of. Six very different sons all have their own amazing stories to tell and I absolutely loved every single one of them.
In this box set we get the following 6 full length romantic suspense novels:
Lost Bastard – Alexei’s story
Cold Bastard – Archer’s story
Wild Bastard – Kai’s story
True Bastard – Liam’s story
Dark Bastard – Sam’s story
King Bastard – Lazarus (Oz)’s story.

Each story has something very different to offer but all are as thrilling and enticing as the other. These men and hard but when they meet the women who they are meant to be with, you see a totally different side to them. The stories are raw and can be brutal but are so gripping and will drag you through a roller coaster of emotions. You will laugh, and if you are like me, you will cry.

I honestly can’t say one bad thing about this set of books. This author just keeps producing amazing books that I love and I hope she continues doing so for a long time to come.

As Close to Perfect by Maria Jane – Review by Karyn Taylor

As Close to PerfectAs Close to Perfect by Maria Jane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an excellent contemporary romance that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. The author was new to me but the blurb sounded like something I’d enjoy, so I decided to give it a try. I’m really glad that I took the plunge as this is a great story that really pulled me in to the storyline and continued to keep me engaged and intrigued throughout.
I loved the 2 main characters Nate and Bree, although I’ll admit to wanting to slap some sense into Bree on several occasions. She was so determined to stick to her principals and rules and nothing was going to change her mind. Nate, I adored. He is just one of the sweetest guys you could ever want to know and I really want a Nate in my life.
The story is quite angsty in parts and you really can’t help but want to give Nate a huge hug so many times. I do love an angsty story though, so as much as I was exasperated, I really enjoyed it.
Nate and Bree’s story is a really great read that I’d definitely recommend to others.

Caging Grace (Grace Series Book 1) by Carsen Lane – Review by Karyn Taylor

Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1).Caging Grace (Grace Series, #1). by Carsen Lane
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic work of Women’s Fiction that had me hooked (no pun intended) from the very beginning. It was also my first time reading any work by this author and I can definitely say that I will be reading more, especially more of this series.
Grace is just one of those fantastic characters that swallow you up whole and has you totally invested in their story. I absolutely loved her whole outlook on life. She’s given up everything in life to provide for her sick mother and to bring up her sister.
I love the relationships she has with the significant men in her life, Johnny her trainer and Alasdair, another fighter at her gym that she’s friends with. Both are really amazing guys but I know which one I’d like Grace to have a romantic relationship with if that’s in the cards for her. I won’t say who but allow you to make up your own mind.
This is an excellent book and I’d definitely recommend it to others.

Unlikely to Tell (A Parker Lake Novel Book 4) by Olivia Sherwood. Review by Karyn Taylor

Unlikely to Tell (A Parker Lake Novel Book 4)Unlikely to Tell by Olivia Sherwood
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 4th, and my favourite, book in a fantastic series that I’ve absolutely loved so far. Set in the small town of Parker Lake where you can’t do anything without the whole town knowing your business. But school teacher Karen Posey has a huge secret that she wants no one to ever find out about. So she keeps herself to herself.
All is going to plan until her best friend Breckin’s ( the heroine from a previous book in the series) brother Brody comes home to stay.
Brody and Karen’s story is only that I was hooked on from the very beginning. Having been introduced to Karen in previous books, I was always intrigued as to her story and was so glad that the author decided to give her a book to tell her awesome story.
As the path to true love never runs smoothly, Brody and Karen did not get off to the best start. She thought he was an arrogant jackass and hated him on sight. Although she could admit that he was very easy on the eye.
This is a fantastic story that I totally lost myself in and I can see me reading this book again in the future.
Definitely recommend.

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2) by Lauren Fraser – Review by Karyn Taylor

Everything to Me (Playing for Keeps Book 2)Everything to Me by Lauren Fraser
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 2nd book in a series of standalone contemporary romance novels. I had not read the first book and didn’t feel that I was missing any necessary information. It was also my first time reading this author’s work and I was pleasantly surprised by how my I enjoyed this book.
I do love the ‘brother’s best friend’ trope and this book is a great example of this. Kendall has always had a massive crush on her brother’s best friend Pete. When Kendall has to visit their city for work, she stays at Pete’s house as her brother is away that week. So while the cats away the mice certainly do play. The chemistry is off the charts hot and when they get together it’s hot and steamy.
I loved both Pete and Kendall. I also really liked Kendall’s brother Ryan too. This author has a knack for writing really great characters that are relatable and that you get invested in.
Like many romances set in the sports world, there is a great camaraderie among the players, and this is something I really enjoy reading. Again, this author does a great job here. I loved reading the banter and the ribbing that they give each other, yet they always have each other’s backs.
This is a really great romance novel that I would recommend to other readers.

Tickety Tock (Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter) by Manda Mellett – Review by Karyn Taylor

Tickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona ChapterTickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first full length novel in a new MC series by the Queen of MC books (in my humble opinion). It can be read as a standalone as each book will tell the story of a different member of the Wicked Warriors MC. Before reading any of this author’s work I had never read any MC books but having binged through all of her books, I’m an addict.
In this book we get the story of Dwarf, so named because he’s much shorter than his MC brothers. Constantly overlooked by women due to his lack of height, Dwarf wants a woman who will like him for who he is and not go away with one his brothers as several have done in the past.
One thing I loved about Dwarf is that he’s not the typical romance novel hero. Most are usually described as at least 6ft 3in, stunning good looks and a panty-dropping smile. Dwarf is shorter and is described as average looking. I love that this author has heroes and heroines who do not fit into the typical romance mould. They are much more relatable characters.
I also loved Raven. Having had the childhood that she did, it’s amazing how she has turned out. I loved that she was not interested in Dwarf’s brothers, but only had eyes for him.
I can’t wait to get to know more about the Wicked Warriors in future books.

The True Garza (Red Cage Book 3) by S. Ann Cole – Review by Karyn Taylor

The True Garza (Red Cage, #3)The True Garza by S. Ann Cole
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in the contemporary romance series but can be read as a standalone. I had not read any of the previous books and did not feel that I was missing any necessary information. The author does a great job of making sure you have all the information needed to understand and enjoy the story. I really enjoyed this book and would love to go back and read the first 2 books to see what I missed.
I really loved reading True and London (Lonny)’s story. Having 2 children with ADHD, I loved that the author chose to have a leading character with this condition, showing some of the ways that this can affect people.
True and London are both great characters that I really enjoyed reading about. London is a total kick-ass female character, full of sass and extremely feisty.
The storyline was one that I really enjoyed. I was drawn into the story very quickly and was kept captivated and entertained throughout.
I’d definitely recommend this book to others.

A Long Kiss Goodbye (Onyx & Mercury Book 2) by H.D. Thomson – Review by Karyn Taylor

A Long Kiss GoodbyeA Long Kiss Goodbye by H.D. Thomson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fascinating paranormal romance that really had me gripped from the very beginning and was hard to put down. I had not read any work by this author before so was unsure what to expect from this book, but I can say that I will definitely read their work again in future.
When Avery wakes up after a night out and discovers that she’s naked and that her chest has been cut open and sewn shut again, she has no idea what has happened. She has no recollection of anything after going to bed after a few drinks with friends.
This opening to the book sure pulls you into the story straight away. You just want to keep reading to find out what happened to her. Add into the mix her hot neighbour who is hiding some secrets of his own and you are in for a fantastic read.
The story is medium to fast paced and flows very well, keeping the reader engaged and entertained.
I really loved the characters of Avery and hot neighbour Luys. Both are very intriguing and you want to keep reading to find out more about them. What secrets are they hiding?
I would 100% recommend this book.

Collateral Damage (Mafia Elite Series Book 6) by Amy McKinley – Review by Karyn Taylor

Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance (Mafia Elite Book 6)Collateral Damage: A Second Chance Mafia Romance by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 6th book in the outstanding Mafia Series by one of my favourite authors. Each book I read by this author just gets better and better. I honestly have loved every book of hers and this book is a fantastic example of her work.
This is a dark mafia romance series. The author has an amazing talent at writing romantic suspense novels that you just don’t want to put down. Like every other book in this series I was pulled into the story from the very beginning and taken on a fantastic journey of drama, intrigue, danger and suspense.
I absolutely adore the characters in these books and I totally fell in love with Trey and Hailey. These alpha men and their badass feisty women are a joy to read and Trey and Hailey fit perfectly into the mix.
I love that we get to see the other couples from previous books and get a snippet of how their lives are progressing together. I really wish this series could go on and on. I know there is one more book coming and I can’t wait to read Nico and Mia’s story.

Blood & Ravens (The Casket Girls Series Book 1) by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Karyn Taylor

Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance (The Casket Girls Book 1)Blood & Ravens: A dark, paranormal romance by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is an excellent paranormal romance by an author I had never read before. I’ve recently started reading more paranormal romance and I was attracted by the blurb of this book, so decided to give the author a chance. I’m glad that I took the chance as I really liked this book very much.
Set in 1782 in New Orleans, Greer had been happily selling flowers on the streets of Paris when she was kidnapped and put on a boat filled with other women and taken to Paris to stay in a convent until they were married off.
I loved reading Greer and Theron’s story. Women at that time we supposed to be meek and subservient. Greer was very much the opposite – sassy, opinionated and not scared to get into trouble. Theron could not help the attraction he felt towards her, even though she was supposedly just a thing for him to feed on.
I really enjoyed reading about the secondary characters in the book, the girls that Greer befriended on the boat journey over and at the convent. I particularly liked Desiree and hope we get to see more of her in this series. I admit I wasn’t too enamoured with Edith but she may be redeemed in time…or not.
This is a great book and I look forward to reading more of this series in the future.

Unabridged (Lovestruck Series Book 2) by Melinda De Ross – Review by Karyn Taylor

Unabridged (Smart & Sassy in the City, #2)Unabridged by Melinda De Ross
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is part of a series of stand-alones, books that are related but each can be read on their own or in any order. It was my second time reading this author’s work and, like the first time, I really enjoyed this book.
When Angelina steps into her boss’ office, all excited by her new idea for an article, she’s totally unprepared to find her boss has retired and his replacement is non other than Blade, the only man she has ever loved.
This can be described as a second chance romance but also an opposites attract as Angelina and Blade both come from very different backgrounds, with Blade coming from a wealthy family and Angelina from a very poor family, an issue which caused problems for them.
I really enjoyed reading Angelina and Blade’s story. Their chemistry is hot and they are both really interesting characters who you can easily relate to and be swallowed up by their story and the journey that they take you on.
The storyline flows well and is very well written, which kept me engaged from the beginning, right up to the end.

1. Run To The Sea – Friends To Lovers
2. Stars Fall From The Sky – Second Chance Romance
3. A Sun So Bright – Enemies To Lovers
4. I’ll See You Again – Opposites Attract
5. A Cold Creek Christmas – Single Dad Novella
This box set is by one of my favourite authors who I discovered a few years ago and have devoured everything she has written. She has the amazing knack of writing fantastic stories that really pull on the heartstrings and there are some fantastic examples of this in this set.
If I was pushed to pick a favourite, I’d have to pick Stars Fall From The Sky but please be warned that tissues are a MUST for this book. I ugly cried and sobbed reading this. It’s a definite tear-jerker.
The author has an amazing skill of writing the most awesome characters that you can’t help but fall in love with, and others that you hate with an absolute passion.
If you’re not 100% sure of reading this, please take my word for it – you will not be disappointed. This is an amazing set and I know I’ll read it again.

The Cruiser (The Hustlers Trilogy, #1)The Cruiser by Rowan Rossler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the fantastic first book in a new series by an author that is new to me and I can safely say that if this book is any indication of how good her writing is, I’ll definitely be reading more of her work.
This book is a 5 star read for me, I absolutely loved it. With much of it set among the glamour of Monaco and with lots of hot and steamy sex, this book will take you on an amazing journey.
Morgan de Rohan-Chabot is a yacht designer playboy used to having women falling at his feet. Has he met his match when he hires PR queen Vandana Hillman whose marriage has just ended and she’s a little fragile but still feisty as ever.
I loved reading Morgan and Vandana’s story, As well as the scorching romance, there is a great, intriguing storyline set in the world of yacht designing that is full of drama and is very entertaining and kept me gripped. I really did not want to put this book down at night, but unfortunately real life gets in the way.
100% recommend this book and can’t wait to read more in this series.

The Fighter (An Underground Bad Boys Romance Book 3) by India Kells – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Fighter (An Underground Bad Boys Romance, #3)The Fighter by India Kells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you asked me to name my top authors, this author’s name would definitely come up in the list. Having discovered this author a few years ago, I devour everything she writes and I’ve been impatiently waiting to read the 3rd and final instalment of this fantastic series. I could say she has kept the best till last but maybe I just need to re-read the first 2 to give a more balanced view as this one is so fresh in my mind compared to the other two.
Am I also thinking that Gage is my favourite of the 3 bad boys or is that due to the freshness. Whatever the case, I adored Gage. He is an awesome character and I’m so glad that his female lead is just as awesome a character as he is. I loved reading about the two of them together.
This book is hot and steamy and sure to blow your mind. In addition to Gage and Juliet, we also have Juliet’s long time friend Ten to add to the mix, making for some very exciting reading.
In the style typical of this author, this is much more than a romance story. The suspenseful storyline running alongside the romance element is gripping and very entertaining.
This book is a must read but before you read it, I recommend you read the first 2 books in the series as they are just as awesome.

Everwood Plantation by Stacy-Deanne – Review by Karyn Taylor

Everwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire RomanceEverwood County Plantation: BWWM Enemies-to-Lovers Billionaire Romance by Stacy-Deanne
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This is a BWWM, enemies to lovers, billionaire romance. I have read this author several times and have enjoyed her work, but I struggled with this book.
I didn’t like the main female character Zenni. She really annoyed me and I just couldn’t relate to her at all. The more the story continued, the more annoying I found her to be. She seemed very petty and stroppy and just overall unlikable to me.
I did like the main male character Colton. I could relate to him and found him to be very likable. I loved his cheeky arrogance.
The overall storyline was ok but I felt that the book was over all too quickly. At only 89 pages this is a story that could have been expanded and given more detail. Although, to be honest I was kinda glad to finally put Zenni to the back burner.
As much as I struggled with this particular book, I’ve enjoyed many of this author’s books, so it won’t put me off reading her work again.

Saving Marvel (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #4) by Manda Mellett – Review by Karyn Taylor

Saving Marvel (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation Book 4)Saving Marvel by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I don’t think there are enough words to describe just how much I love this author’s work. I could honestly read about her amazing bikers of the Satan’s Devils MC for hours, days, weeks on end. I really do love them that much. Added to that, we finally got Marvel’s story.
Although one of the original group of Satan’s Devils, Marvel’s HEA comes much later in life so his story comes in the 2nd generation series, where the original band of bikers are in their 50’s and it’s their children who now run the roost.
Marvel has always been a bit of a grumpy miserable character and we now get to find out why he is the way he is and then get to see a whole new side of this very lovable, sweet man when the right woman comes along. Although being caught up in a bank robbery is not how you would expect to find your significant other but these Satan’s Devils like to do things differently.
Virginia is such an amazing character too. My heart breaks for what this poor woman has had to face in the past year or so. I couldn’t imagine going through something like that. Needless to say, she’s damaged emotionally and a relationship is the last thing on her mind.
I adored reading about this couple and would 100% recommend this book.

Deacon (Saints vs Sinners Series Book 1)Deacon by CJ Warrant
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a great second chance romance/enemies to lovers contemporary romance novel that I thoroughly enjoyed reading. I had never read any of this author’s work previously but was very intrigued by the blurb and decided to give it a chance. I’m so glad that I did. If this book is anything to go by then I’m going to read more of this author’s work. I’m already excited to read the next instalment as Kyle is made out to be an unsavoury character, so I’m wondering how his story will go.
Getting back to this book, I adored Deacon and Olivia. Both are amazing characters that I could really relate to. This book just oozed angst and I’m a sucker for an angsty book. These two just needed to give into their feelings. But then the story would be over too soon and we wouldn’t get this emotional read that had me gripped from beginning to end.
There is a great storyline running alongside the romance. Set in the motorbiking world there is a lot of drama, danger and intrigue to keep you engrossed and very entertained.
I loved the closeness and camaraderie between Deacon and his group of friends ‘the disciples’ and can’t wait to find out more about these guys as the series continues.

Until There Was You by G. Colgrove – Review by Karyn Taylor

Until there was youUntil there was you by G. Colgrove
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic contemporary romance by an author that I had never read before but if this is any example of their work, I’ll definitely be reading again. I really. Really enjoyed this book.
I loved Regan and Jeremy’s story. Both are great characters that I was really able to associate with and enjoyed reading about. I really could have read about this couple for hours and hours. They are both very relatable and interesting characters. The author has done a great job in writing these characters.
I was really drawn into their story straight away and the author does a great job of keeping the story flowing and keeping the reader fully engrossed in the story. Along the way, you are taken on an emotional journey that pulls at the heartstrings at times.
This is very much an opposites attract story. Jeremy is from a very wealthy family, whereas Regan has had a very difficult and poor upbringing. I do like reading an opposites attract story and this is great example of one.
I loved this book and it definitely deserves the 5 stars I’m giving it.

My Valentine’s Day Cookie Match (Welcome to Cupid’s Cove) by C.A. King – Review by Karyn Taylor

My Valentine's Day Cookie Match: Welcome to Cupids CoveMy Valentine’s Day Cookie Match: Welcome to Cupids Cove by C.A. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a great, heart-warming contemporary romance that I devoured in a few hours. It’s a feelgood romance that was great to read after having read a heavy, dark romance before it. I enjoy both types but this was just what the doctor ordered at the time.
Marketing specialist Graham has decided on a career move, opening a cookie shop with the added bonus of having a dating app based on your purchases. Very apt in a town called Cupid’s Cove. What he doesn’t expect is Lara, the mayor’s daughter, whose family own the local bakery. Intent on hating Graham for proving competition, she’s surprised by how much the two of them click.
As always, true love never run’s smoothly and Graham and Lara’s love is put to a very big test to prove just how true it is.
This is a great read, which I really enjoyed and would definitely recommend it to others, especially if you are looking for a quick, heart-warming read to lose yourself in for a few hours.

Forbidden Love: Book 1 of the Forbidden Duet by KM Lowe – Review by Karyn Taylor

Forbidden Love - Book 1 of The Forbidden DuetForbidden Love – Book 1 of The Forbidden Duet by K.M. Lowe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the first instalment of a duet that I’m pretty sure I will read again if this first book is anything to go by. I had read one of this author’s books before and had really enjoyed it, so I has no issues reading more of this author’s work.
Can I say, I really loved this book. It had my emotions all over the place. My heart broke for Kally and Clark so many times. No one deserves the heartache that their families put the two of them through. I pray that they get their well deserves HEA.
This book will really tug on the heart strings. I don’t think I’ve hated anyone as much as I hated Clark’s brother Colton. That man is just pure evil.
The author does a brilliant job is grabbing you tightly at the beginning of the book and keeping a tight grasp right through and not letting you go. As the first part of a duet, there is more of this fascinating story still to come and I can’t wait to read it.

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla) by S.B. Alexander – Review by Karyn Taylor

The Hunted (Vampire Navy SEAL: Sam & Layla, #1)The Hunted by S.B. Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This has to be the best vampire romance that I have ever read. This is a genre that I’m becoming increasingly more and more interested in and this has to be the best example of one that I’ve read so far. This is a new author to me so I wasn’t sure what to expect but I can definitely say for sure that I will be reading more of this author’s work. In particular, I want to read the next instalment of this story.
I absolutely adored Sam and Layla’s story. This is a definite opposites attract and enemies to lovers story. Sam is a vampire and Layla comes from a family of vampire hunters who hate the very existence of vampires. So why is she so attracted to Sam? Why does she constantly think of the things she wants to do to him?
This story is explosive and I was totally gripped from the very first chapter and was totally captivated throughout. I just didn’t want to put this book down. Why does real life get in the way of losing yourself in a great book? And to top it off, we are left with a cliffhanger. I just can’t wait to read more of Sam and Layla.
Definitely 100% recommend and definitely worth the 5 stars I’ve given it.
