Auctioned Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 2) by Via Mari – Review by Katie Matthews

Auctioned Surrender (Sinful Duets #2)Auctioned Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This duet contains two absolutely amazing reads. The author’s writing is so captivating you can’t help but carry on reading long after you really want to stop. The duet contains Auctioned and Relentless.

Auctioned

It’s been a long time since I struggled to review a book, I sat here for ages trying to think of the words to do this story justice and I really cannot find them. Auctioned is hands down my favourite read of 2021! I already knew I would love it because I love this author but I was completely hooked from beginning to end – I almost wish I hadn’t read it because I would love to go back and read it again for the very first time. I 100% adored and loved Damian – he was everything I wanted from his character and more. The chemistry between him and Bryanna was off the charts! I loved reading about them and wanted more after the story had ended! There was so much to this story that I was so invested in it and the characters. A truly beautiful read.
I cannot recommend this book and the series enough – they are all amazing reads and I just completely adore this author and her amazing writing!

Relentless

This was a phenomenal read! I adore this author and think I’ve given 5 stars to all of her books but this one was just amazing. I was hooked from beginning to end and I actually cannot wait to re-read it again and that is something I rarely do! I just loved Dereck and Layla, their story was just so exciting to read so many twists and turns I literally couldn’t put it down, I needed to find out what was going to happen next on the turn of almost every page. They had such a great chemistry too, that definitely made for good reading! I can’t wait to read more from this author again! I love her book so much!

Dangerous Rhythm (The Echo Series, #4)Dangerous Rhythm by C.R. Alam
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yes!! I loved this story so, so much! I loved the characters, the plot, everything really! Curtis was exactly as I wanted to be, however with what he witnessed we begin to see a little bit of vulnerability creep in. How amazing was Lina! She is my favourite character! She’s fierce, independent and just an all-round amazing woman!! The connection that these two had was great and I loved the chemistry between the two of them.
With a few twists and turns in the story along with amazing characters this story kept me engaged from beginning to end and I would 100% recommend it!

A Journey for Dorothy (The Reluctant Wagon Train Bride #8)A Journey for Dorothy by P. Creeden
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this read. I was completely swept up in the authors wonderful writing form the very beginning. I love historical romance story – they are absolutely my favourite to read – and this was a great one. I loved the setting for the story, the authors fantastic descriptive language meant I could easily imagine what was going on. The characters of Dorothy and Elias we both so lovely to read about, they were likeable and relatable. A marriage of convenience started their journey together but what follows was so much more.
I would definitely recommend A Journey for Dorothy. It was a great read!

Another great read from this series. I can really imagine the authors target audience enjoying these books. They are a great length and would definitely engage the younger readers imagination. There’s lots going on in these stories but not too much to confuse readers, the story is easy to follow and understand. Lauren is a great main character and I can imagine young readers would engage with her and her friends. This book will certainly enhance a young readers imagination through the ghostly goings on.

Renewed was a great read and I really enjoyed it. I enjoyed the suspense that the author brought into the book, it definitely kept me engaged throughout. Ruby was desperate to escape her past and I loved that Hayden stepped up to help protect her after she had helped to save his life.

Encounters with Old CoyoteEncounters with Old Coyote by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really intriguing and interesting read. I have read books by this author previously so thought I would give this one a go. The main character in the story, Andrea, is a ghost. It was actually a really thought provoking story and for Andrea it was about her looking back on her journey along with Coyote. The author really brings this characters story to life with her wonderful and engaging writing style. Her descriptive language was great as I was taken along with Andrea as she remembered her memories and brought them to life again.
A really interesting read and one I would recommend.

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets Book 1) by Via Mari – Review by Katie Matthews

Whispered Surrender (Sinful Duets #1)Whispered Surrender by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Whispered Surrender is a fantastic book containing two amazing stories Wayward and Undercover by the very talented Via Mari.

Wayward

I was hooked from beginning to end with this thrilling and exciting dark mafia read! It had everything I love in a story and more! I was swept along with the characters story and also to all of the places their story took me! The authors writing was beautifully detailed, I could imagine all of the places she was describing. I did feel like I really knew the main characters Jay and Sasha and I was so invested in their story from the past to the present to their future.
I have read quite a few books by this author and she never fails to bring me a story that I love but I can honestly say that this one is absolutely my favourite of hers – it was simply an outstanding read! It has gotten me very excited for what’s to come from the series and I cannot wait!!

Undercover

I absolutely LOVED this story! It is yet again another amazing read by the very talented Via Mari! I was hooked from beginning to end and I could not put it down at all! I loved Marenah and Matt! Their story was definitely full of action and a lot of steamy moments! I love how Ms Mari has intertwined characters from her other two series into this new one – although it is not necessary to have read them this book reads perfectly as a standalone.
I thought Marenah was a fantastic character, so strong, independent and she could definitely hold her own when it came to it! I loved reading about her!
I think I fell in love with Matt pretty much straight away! There was just something about him, so genuine and likeable.
The moment that Marenah and Matt met I just knew (and hoped) that there would be something between them, apart from the attraction and chemistry there seemed to be something a little deeper there.
I am really looking forward to reading more from this series and as always this author! I 100% recommend this amazing read to others!

Raining Fish and Frogs is another interesting children’s book from Lois Wickstrom. Its an introduction to different weathers but in a fun and engaging way for children. The story is accompanied by some beautiful illustrations that are sure to capture children’s interest from the start. There’s a great science project at the end of the book too – something we’ve come to expect from this author. I’m sure little enquiring minds would be wanting to find out more about whether a tornado can in fact suck up fish and frogs!

This was a really nice read and full of such positivity. The story is aimed at Asian boys as the title suggests but I think if read in a setting all of the children who might listen to this could benefit from some of the positive messages that come across in the book. The story is beautifully illustrated and would definitely capture the interest of young children.

Andy was so sweet in the way he went about trying to court Ann, I loved the innocence in the letter writing and how their relationship developed through this.

All (well majority) of the characters in the story were really sweet and relatable. I loved the setting and time period for the story – historical romance is my favourite genre so to find this book was great and added in is that bit of Christmas magic and it was a perfect book for me! Finding Your Heart: A Journal for Discovering Your HeartFinding Your Heart: A Journal for Discovering Your Heart by Nadia Han
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this journal! It was so accessible and just an absolutely joy to have as part of my wellbeing. I love journaling – over the past 12 months especially I have found that using something like this has enabled me to work through problems and come out the other side. The prompts in the book make you stop and think about your life and also when you are feeling like you are in a better place it’s so good to be able to look back and see how far you have come. I loved being able to fill in the beautifully illustrated pages. I loved the positive affirmations, they are so important to remind yourself of something positive everyday even when you feel like everything is negative around you.
For anyone who find it easier to write out feeling than talk about this then I would 100% recommend Finding Your Heart – it would make a fantastic part of your metal wellbeing journey!

Another amazing book in this series – 8 books in and each one just gets better than the one before. I think this was probably my favourite of the series so far, even though I’m pretty sure I’ve said that after finishing each book. I was very taken with Master Sardinia, he was so dark, dangerous and oh so delicious! The dual POV provides a real depth to the story and the characters, you really do get to see things from both sides. I loved the connection between the characters and there was definitely a fair amount of passion and chemistry between them! I really cannot wait to read the next book! Whilst these books could be read independently I would 100% recommend reading them in order!

What a lovely book and so, so important in my opinion! Working in animal rescue it is so important for us that children are able and know how to be safe around dogs and know how to interact appropriately with them so I love that this story focuses on that and is told in such a way that is easy for children to understand and hopefully be able to relate to. There is a really important message behind this story and the author address it really well.
I think this story definitely has a place in children’s libraries!

This was such a lovely story! It was really easy to read and follow and has a great meaning behind it. It is really important for children to understand that not everything is easy and sometimes we do have really persevere with things in life. I think using baking as an idea for this was great as baking can be one of those things you really do have to preserver with to get it right. There are lots of talking points in this book for children to discuss what is happening in the story and think of things that they have had to try hard with. I love that the recipe was included as well.

I was completely captivated by this story from beginning to end, I honestly could not stop listening at all. I have to say I am usually consumed by this authors stories but there was just something about this one, she really did take the story and characters to another level. She definitely brought the series full circle with this final instalment.
Truck and Allie’s story was so beautifully written, the emotional moments of the story really grabbed me at times. It’s been a while since a book had me in tears but this one did all within a few pages! I was so into what I was listening to, I could feel everything to characters did and I think that’s definitely what had me so emotional!
Truck Stopped was an amazing ending to this series and a story I cannot recommend enough. It could be read as a standalone but I would 100% recommend the series as a whole!
On top of a wonderful story were the perfect narrators that were chosen, they really did bring the story to life through their narration.

When I first read the synopsis for this book I decided to go in with an open mind. Its definitely not my usual reading genre and it’s also the first time I have read anything by the author. Overall I was pleasantly surprised, it was an interesting read that was well written and unique. It was actually nice to read something a little different. The main characters TJ, aka Sarge, was a really interesting character to read about. It was interesting to see what he went through in life to make him int the person he is by the end of the story.
This was a really unique story that I wouldn’t definitely recommend people give a chance.

Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance (The Bennetts of Langston Falls Book #4)Reckless Love: A Small Town Slow-Burn Forbidden Love Romance by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Here we are again with yet another amazing 5 star read from KG Fletcher. I honestly adore all of her books, she writes about such wonderful characters who are so relatable and likeable. The characters in this book were no exception. Becky was so lovely to read about, she was a really wholesome person who is willing to see the best in everyone and this included Glen. Glen was trying hard to become a reformed character and he was working really hard and righting some wrongs he made. I think Becky was right to be cautious of him at the beginning because of her sheltered upbringing but I was so glad that eventually she warmed to him especially as I was rooting for the two of them from the beginning!
As always I cannot recommend this authors books enough and I always look forward to whatever she may bring out next!

Merry Christmas, Montana (The Millers of Marietta Book 3) by Elsa Winckler – Review by Katie Matthews

Merry Christmas, Montana (The Millers of Marietta Book 3)Merry Christmas, Montana by Elsa Winckler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely loved this story. It was so easy to read, the pace and flow were great and I just fell in love with all of the characters straight away. Riley was a brilliant female lead, she’s a devoted mother to her son Dylan but also because of her past she is very guarded and that does come across early on in the story however I think its totally expected considering what has happened in her life. I liked Mitch, I was anticipating her would be grumpy but he really wasn’t, he was a genuine, down to earth person who’s overprotectiveness was seen as being grumpy.
There was a connection between the two characters even if it didn’t seem it at times.
This was a lovely story and one that I highly recommend.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really refreshing book to read and something a little different than I normally would choose to read. The way in which the book is written really did make me connect with the main character Sue. She was such an uplifting and positive character; it showed her embracing new times in her life and the things that were important to her. I loved the connection she had and friendships she had with the other characters that appeared in the book. I think there are probably themes in this book that people can definitely relate to. The author made the characters in this book really accessible and likeable, some more than other though to be fair!
I am really looking forward to reding more from this author in the future.
