Self Love: A British Tale of Woe and Wit by T. L. Clark – Review by Katie Matthews

Self LoveSelf Love by T.L. Clark
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this story, it made me laugh and the way in which the author wrote the story made me feel really engaged with the main character. It was almost like I was reading her diary and living her life with her. The pace of the story was quite slow and the author did go into detail which in some parts was maybe a little too much but I still thought that it was a really good read. I really appreciated the British humour in the story too. I thought that the flow of the story was good and the writing really smooth – I found it really easy to read. I really felt a connection with Molly, the main character, I thought that she was really relatable and I did like her, although she did tend to apologise a lot!!
Overall I thought that this was a really enjoyable read and I would definitely recommend it to other readers!

Give and Take (The Thorne Brothers) by Lee Kilraine – Review by Katie Matthews

Give and Take (The Thorne Brothers, #2)Give and Take by Lee Kilraine
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this book! Absolutely loved it! Rhia was an amazing character, she was feisty, she made me laugh and she was one of the most empathetic characters I have ever read about. Even with everything going on in her life she still put others first before her own feelings. I loved the love/hate relationship between her and Wyatt; I desperately wanted them to end up together! They had a great, genuine connection and their chemistry was HOT!!! Wyatt was a brilliant character too, his childhood absolutely broke my heart and I have to admit I would happily do an inventory with him! Or any of his brothers to be honest!
I haven’t read the first book in this series but this can be read as a standalone easily however it has made me want to read Beckett’s story! I absolutely cannot wait to read more about these brothers!! A fantastic read that I highly recommend!

Our Unexpected Hope by Michelle Sullivan – Review by Katie Matthews

Our Unexpected HopeOur Unexpected Hope by Michelle Sullivan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I pick up a book by this author I know that I am going to be in for a read that I cannot put down and I was proved right yet again. Michelle Sullivan has a way of writing that captures your attention from the very beginning, she brings her characters to life in a way that they feel real almost if you are there living their journey with them. My heart literally broke for Noah, to grow up the way he did must have been awful – no child should grow up without knowing what it is like to be loved unconditionally and it makes me so sad that this happens. Quinn’s upbringing was the complete opposite to Noah but when they met they just fit, they were perfect for each other. I know to expect a few emotional moments from this author and this book certainly had a few of them in fact I feel emotional just thinking back on what I have read.
I truly loved this story; from beginning to end I was in love with everything about it. I wish I could give it more than 5 stars and it absolutely is one of my favourite reads from 2018! I highly recommend you one click this book today – you won’t regret it!

The Only One (The Brothers of Camelot, #1)

I LOVED this story! It is definitely one of the best stories that I have read this year! I was hooked from the very beginning and I really didn’t want it to end. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I cannot wait to get my hands on the next book in the series! The writing was excellent, the characters were amazing! I loved reading Drake and Bella’s story, it was emotional but the connection they had was just amazing. A fantastic friends to lovers story.
The secondary characters in the story were also really good and they complemented the main characters so well.
The Only One is a beautifully written story that I absolutely adored. I cannot recommend it enough and I am looking forward to the next one!

I loved this story! From the very beginning I fell completely in love with Rebecca and Ryan. With Rebecca fleeing after catching her fiancé in bed with her best friend and Ryan having been hurt by the woman he loved I absolutely knew that I wanted them to be together. Rebecca had a feisty attitude which I loved but I could also tell it was a front so it didn’t seem like she was hurt by her fiancés betrayal as she was. Ryan was such a sweetheart – I fell for him straight away. He was so kind and caring and not to mention incredibly hot!
I liked the storyline, I guess it was a little predictable but I honestly didn’t care because I was so swept up in the sweet romance between the two main characters! I thought the writing was good and the pace and flow was excellent.
I am really looking forward to the next book in this series.

The Reader (The Immortal Series #1) by M.K. Harkins – Review by Katie Matthews

The ReaderThe Reader by M.K. Harkins
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Reader was a really great, fast paced read. This isn’t the first book that I have read by this author in fact I have read quite a few so I knew that I would be in for a great read and again I wasn’t disappointed! The story was full of fantastic plot twists and turns, great characters and a unique storyline that made for a thrilling and exciting read.
The authors’ writing was brilliant, the world building particularly good. I was already hooked on the book after reading the blurb but once I started reading I knew it was going to be one of those hard to put down books. The book really did start off strong; whilst there were a few parts that felt a little rushed I still enjoyed it immensely. I liked the main characters and thought that they developed well over the storyline.
I would absolutely recommend The Reader to sci-fi, paranormal fans and definitely YA’s. I am looking forward to book 2 in the series.

Releasing the Demons (The Order of the Senary #1) by L.D. Rose – Review by Katie Matthews

Releasing the DemonsReleasing the Demons by L.D. Rose
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love Vampire books and I actually think that this is one of the best that I have read in a long time. The story is fast paced and full of action, there’s romance, there’s danger and there’s some fantastic characters. For me a huge positive (not that there were any negatives apart from it ended) of the story was the amazing descriptive language and brilliant world building the author used and did. I was really immersed into this story because of that and it made it so much more of an exciting read.
I really liked Blaze, he was a really strong character and I connected well with him I felt. The author did a great job with explaining his character and I found myself really empathising with the way he felt. I genuinely wanted the best for him.
I thought Valerie was also a really great character. She was really dedicated to her job and determined to combat Vampires! I could really feel the dilemma she faced when she came across Blaze, he represented everything she has ever hated but also stirred something inside her too.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and it absolutely will not be the last! A fantastic 5 star read that I highly recommend!

Georgia Pine (Southern Promises #3) by K.G. Fletcher – Review by Katie Matthews

Georgia Pine (Southern Promises #3)Georgia Pine by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was just wow. I’m not sure I can actually find the words to write this review about this book. I have read the first two books in the series and I loved them, I really did but this one was just outstanding. The author has truly outdone herself, I was hooked from the very first page it was just so beautifully written. The words just flowed seamlessly and it was such an easy effortless read. I really want to read it all over again!
The characters were fantastic, Jessica and Tim were perfect! They had passion, chemistry and a great connection. I kind of loved that it wasn’t all plain sailing and there were some obstacles that they had to overcome because it made me want them to find happiness all the more! Having met Jessica and her four girls in book 2 I was really looking forward to seeing more of them in this book. I wasn’t disappointed with Jessica and Tim’s story at all. There were some twists in the story as I have come to expect from this talented author.
I would not hesitate to recommend Georgia Pine at all – it was a wonderful 5 star read!

The Boss (Fire’s Edge #1) by Abigail Owen – Review by Katie Matthews

The Boss (Fire's Edge, #1)The Boss by Abigail Owen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I thought that The Boss was a really great read. This is the second Dragon Shifter book that I have read this week and I am really starting to enjoy them. I really enjoyed the authors writing style and her imagination really shone through in the story – I could imagine what I was reading and that always helps me as a reader especially with paranormal stories. I have to say that I was really drawn to the front cover and I don’t usually take much notice of them but this one I really liked.
As soon as I started reading this book I knew I was going to love it, I was pulled in straight away. I loved the main characters Finn and Delaney, they had both been hurt but I could tell there was something there between them. Finn tried his hardest to push Delaney away and I love her tenacity in that she wasn’t going to let that happen. I think that both characters had huge growth over the story which I liked as I felt like I was on the journey with them and I really got to know them.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author and the rest of this series in the future. It was a great 4 star read!

Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter (Dragonkind ~ 52 Realms)Casstiel; Born of Lightning: Dragon Shifter by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was an absolutely amazing read! I am quite new to this type of genre and I wasn’t sure if I would like it but oh my gosh I did! I loved every second that I read. I was hooked from the very first page until the end. The author took me on a rollercoaster of emotions. The story was full of love, loss, action, drama, heartache and so much more. The story was so well written, the pace and flow were excellent and the glossary at the beginning was a great addition to the story – it meant I wasn’t guessing the meanings of some of the words. I really liked Casstiel and the journey he went on to find his true love after she was murdered. There were some really good twists in the story too which made it even more exciting to read and I liked that I didn’t see them coming! Ashara was a good character too and I did feel for her a little. I enjoyed reading about the journey that Casstiel and Ashara went on together.
I thought this story really was a great read; the author descriptive language almost brought the story to life! I absolutely recommend this story – it was a brilliant 5 star read!

Summer FlingSummer Fling by Tarrah Anders
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love this author so much! Her books are always brilliant to read. I have to say as well I absolutely adore the front cover, so simple yet beautiful. This was a fast paced read and as always I was swept into the story straight away. I loved both Emma and Royce and they were surrounded by some fantastic secondary characters that were perfect additions to the story. I loved the twists and the turns that they author took me on and I was rooting for Emma and Royce the whole way through! They had amazing chemistry and were both genuinely lovely people. It didn’t take me long at all to fall for Royce, his determination in showing Emma that they belonged together was romantic! It is without a doubt that I would recommend this beautiful 5 star story and I can’t wait for more from Ms Anders in the future!

Repressed (An Ash Park Novel 3) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Katie Matthews

Repressed (Ash Park, #3)Repressed by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, what a read! I think I am still trying to process most of the book – I’m definitely glad I read it in the day!! It was dark, gritty and whilst I don’t condone the things that happen in the story it is after all a story, and one that was very well written. The book honestly left me on the edge of my seat on more than one occasion and I did have to put it down a few times to gather my thoughts! The characters were complex, Morrison and Petrosky worked well together.
I thought that the story was well paced and it was extremely well written. It’s definitely not for the fain-hearted but the author has done an amazing job with telling such a twisted story that absolutely captivated me from beginning to end. The action never stops and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough so I could see what was going to happen.
This could be read as a standalone but I would highly recommend reading the series in order. I look forward to the next book in the series!

What a brilliant read! Fast paced, full of action –I could not put it down. This is also my first read by this author and what an introduction it was! I can’t wait to go and read the rest of the books in this series! The characters in the story were outstanding – I loved everything about them. Charli and Blake were great to read about. Charli was sassy and Blake is one of those characters you love to hate! But as much as loved them Poppa John was just it for me! I adored him!! By far one of my favourite characters!
I am really looking forward to reading more from this author in the future!

Rescued by the Scot (Romancing the Spies #3) by Laura A Barnes – Review by Katie Matthews

Rescued By the Scot (Romancing the Spies #3)Rescued By the Scot by Laura A. Barnes
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in the romancing the spies series and the third book that I have absolutely loved! Her stories captivate me from the beginning to the end and her writing just flows seamlessly. Skye and Zane were brilliant characters, so much passion and chemistry between them which resulted in some particularly steamy scenes between them. They had a great connection and I really enjoyed reading about them.
I have yet to find a historical romance writer whose books I cannot wait to read more of by I definitely have in Ms Barnes. I absolutely adore her writing, her attention to detail in both the settings for the stories and the amazing characters she creates. This book could be read as a standalone however I would also highly recommend books 1 and 2 you will not be disappointed!
I can’t wait for more from this author in the future!

Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2) by India Kells – Review by Katie Matthews

Blind Magic (The Sanctuary Chronicles #2)Blind Magic by India Kells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I first read the blurb for this book I was really intrigued and it sounded a little different to anything that I had read before. I have read something by this author previously so I had high hopes that the writing would be good and I wasn’t disappointed at all.
I thought that the story was really unique and interesting to read. My attention was grabbed straight away and was held throughout the book. I liked the characters, I thought that they were thought out and they developed well over the story. I thought that Sera was strong female lead, she strong, independent and knew her limits. I really enjoyed reading about her. Ian was also a really strong character, not as alpha as I was expecting but I liked that about him.
There were some great twists and turns in the story that I definitely didn’t see coming and I definitely want to read book 1 in the series now!
A great story that I highly recommend.
