Silk Road (Code Raven, #6) by Lynda Filler – Review by Katie Matthews

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6)SILK ROAD by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what an action packed read this was! I have enjoyed this series so far but I have to say I think this may have been my favourite so far – I don’t think I took my eyes off the page for one minute! I loved the story line – it was engaging, complex, exciting and more. The characters were brilliant and I really likeable. The author really does do an amazing job of bringing her stories to life, her attention to detail is fantastic and I can always imagine what I am reading.
I loved reading about all of the members of Raven again (and great to meet some new ones too). I think I would definitely recommend that these books are read in order so as to fully understand how tight this group are and what they have been through together.
Silk Road is another fantastic read from Lynda Filler and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next!!

I have to admit I do like it when authors write prequels to stories especially if the main character is quite complex and we, as readers, get to find out more about them ready for the series to begin. I loved seeing into the mind of Denim and I can tell this is going to be a series that I am going to enjoy. After reading the blurb I think I had a preconceived idea of what Denim was going to be like but I was wrong and I loved that I was!
I found this novella hard to put down and it has definitely got me ready for more from this series! I can’t wait to get to know Denim more – I have a feeling I am going to love him!

Across From You by Amabel Daniels – Review by Katie Matthews

Across From YouAcross From You by Amabel Daniels
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really loved this book! It was one of those stories that you can’t help but smile and laugh your whole way through it and I definitely couldn’t put it down. I’ve read a few books by this author now and I really enjoy her writing style, she is able to adapt it well for whatever genre she is writing and I always find her books engaging.
I adored Lexi! She was a brilliant character, one you know if she were real you would totally want to be friends with her. I really felt for her at times but I think what happened to her made her a stronger person, she was definitely sworn off men – well until Jack came along that is and to be fair I think he could make anybody rethink their stance on men!! I thought that they had a great chemistry and I loved the interactions between them, there were definitely some funny moments!
Across From You is probably one of the best rom-com stories that I have read this year and I know that anyone who reads it will not be disappointed!
A fantastic 5 star read and I absolutely look forward to reading more from Amabel Daniels again in the near future.

It Ends Tonight (Bayou Devils MC #4) by A.M. Myers – Review by Katie Matthews

It Ends Tonight (Bayou Devils MC Book 4)It Ends Tonight by A.M. Myers
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Again another amazing read from this fantastic author and series! I have absolutely loved this series so far, the stories have been full of excitement, brilliant characters, twists and turns and a lot of romance! I am a huge fan of MC stories and I have to say I think these are amongst some of my favourites that I have ever read. I have been waiting patiently to get my hands on the fourth book in the series and it was everything I wanted and more it did however leave me an emotional wreck! The author took my heart and ran away with it during this story. There were points where I didn’t think I could read on because I didn’t think I could take anymore but I knew I need to keep going – I needed to see what was going to happen! I am head over heels in love with Lucas! He was an alpha male at his best! He was guilty of causing me to swoon quite a lot!! Quinn was just an amazing character, her past was so tragic but she came out of it stronger and I absolutely admired that about her! I thought that Quinn and Lucas were just perfection and the interaction between Lucas and Brooklyn – oh my gosh my heart melted!
I absolutely adored this story and I never wanted it to end – I think this is my favourite from an already amazing series and I really cannot recommend it enough!

Felicity Found (Rogue Series Book 6) by Lara Ward Cosio – Review by Katie Matthews

Felicity Found (Rogue Series Book 6)Felicity Found by Lara Ward Cosio
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was so excited to get my hands on this book, I was really missing all of the characters after finishing book 5 and I couldn’t wait to read more about Felicity and Conor! From reading the other books in the series I have always wondered about their relationship and I was definitely looking forward to finding out more about Felicity.
I was only a few pages in when I felt this intense connection to Felicity, the author wrote about her in such a way that I could really feel her emotions and I understood exactly how she was feeling. I actually wanted to give her the biggest hug ever and tell her that she was more than worthy of being Conor’s wife. As always Conor has me swinging from love to hate but I think deep down he always has Felicity’s best interests at heart but he just doesn’t always go about things the right way.
As always the author has tacked real life problems in her stories and I think that’s why I always feel this real connection with her characters. The problems faced by her characters are real, raw and emotional. I feel everything they do and as a reader I am always completely invested in their lives.
Felicity Found is a fantastic, emotional 5 star read and could be read as a standalone however I absolutely would recommend the whole series they truly are amazing books.

Sailors Knot (Eastern Shore Swingers Book 4)Sailors Knot by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely adore this author! I am not a huge fan of books about swinging, there is nothing wrong with that lifestyle it is just my personal opinion but there is just something about the way in which this author writes about it that draws me in and I know that whenever she releases a book in this series I have to read it. Her writing is exciting, it flows well, the pace is always excellent and I know that I won’t be able to put it down until I have finished. I think for me in this story there were some things that I wasn’t really expecting and that’s why I loved it so much. I love Casey; have done since the beginning and her story made me so emotional. I think that she is an amazing character, she’s there for everybody and she has this inner strength that can only be admired. I honestly love everything about her. I love that it was told in past and present and we got to find out more about Casey and her lifestyle. As I expected there were some pretty steamy scenes but as always they are well written and not too over the top! I do find this lifestyle interesting and I really felt the connection between all of the characters in this book!
As always I look forward to more from Ms Alexander – I cannot recommend her books enough!

The Fifth Knight (The Knights of Caerleon #1) by Claire Luana and Jesikah Sundin – Review by Katie Matthews

The Fifth Knight (The Knights of Caerleon #1)The Fifth Knight by Jesikah Sundin
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have read books by one of these authors previously and liked her writing style so I was looking forward to reading this book written by two authors. I love it when authors come together to write. I thought that their writing styles went together really well and the story flowed seamlessly. It was hard to tell that it was written by two people.
I really enjoyed the story and the characters that they created. I am quite new to this genre so I am still getting used to it but I thought that it was really well written and I found myself easily captivated by what I was reading. I loved the fantasy side of the story and thought that the descriptions were really rich which enabled me to imagine exactly what I was reading.
I am really looking forward to the next book in the series and for more from these two brilliant authors.

Must Be CrazyMust Be Crazy by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have been really looking forward to reading the third book in this series after loving both books 1 and 2. I really enjoy this authors writing style, her books are really easy to read and her characters are real to life. I always find myself transported into the stories that she writes easily.
I loved Skye and Edwards’s story! Their story was scorching hot in more ways than one. I loved that their relationship was a little slower to build. I have to say I loved Edward! He was just so perfect! His attitude to life as a Dad was heart-warming and you could tell that his son meant everything to him and he would do anything to give him the best life that he could.
I honestly loved every second of this story, the characters were great and I was rooting for them the whole way through! I can’t wait for more from this author in the future!

Say When (A Cedarville Novel Book 9) by Bree Kraemer – Review by Katie Matthews

Say When (A Cedarville Novel Book 9)Say When by Bree Kraemer
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Who wouldn’t want to live in Cedarville? I know I definitely would! The author has truly created a wonderful place where some of the most amazing characters live and their stories take place! I know that every time I pick up a book from this series I am in for a good and usually heart-warming read. Say When is book 9 in the series but can easily be read as a standalone.
I loved Dani and Patrick’s story! I will admit I found myself frustrated with them at times however the more I read the more I realised that actually it is just the way these characters were. Dani is shy especially around men so communicating with them isn’t going to be easy for her and Patrick was trying to not to push her too far. There were some miscommunications between the two and I was rooting for them so much throughout the story. I thought that Patrick was perfect for Dani!
I love the way this author manages to completely captivate me by her writing, I am always completely invested in her characters stories and they are always believable and relatable.
As always I am very much looking forward to more from Bree Kramer in the future and I definitely recommend Say When and the rest of the books in the Cedarville series!

Everyday EnchantmentsEveryday Enchantments by Maria F. DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such an interesting read, when I first read the blurb I honestly didn’t know what to expect but I soon found myself really captivated by what they author was writing about. It is really well written and the author had this amazing way of drawing me into her life. It was nice to read something a little different and in a world where everyday life is so busy and stressful this book certainly made me stop and think about things. I find meditation really relaxing and it has helped my anxiety a lot so I really did find this book useful.
A unique and different read that I really do recommend and is definitely one of those books you should go into with an open mind.

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts #4) by Tarina Deaton – Review by Katie Matthews

Imperfect Heart (Combat Hearts Book 4)Imperfect Heart by Tarina Deaton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely love this author! Every book that I have read of hers has left me wanting more, her descriptive writing allows me to easily imagine what I am reading, I have an instant connection with the characters that she creates and I can never put down one of her books until I have finished. I have read a few books from this series but not all and I think it could be read as a standalone.
I LOVED Zoe and Tim! They were both fantastic characters and I was completely and utterly captivated by their story. Zoe was so lovely; I loved her clumsiness and the fact that she got so nervous and just babbled on and on especially when it came to Tim. Here was just something about her that was so warm and genuine and you know you would love to have a friend like her. Tim was everything I have come to expect from one of Ms Deaton’s leading men; he was hot, sexy, protective and definitely swoon-worthy!! Tim and Zoe’s first meeting will probably stick in my mind of one of the funniest ever! I loved it! It definitely set the tone for the rest of the story!
I cannot recommend this story enough – there’s funny moments, brilliant characters and above all romance! A perfect read for those cold winter nights!

The Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher – Review by Katie Matthews

The Nearness of YouThe Nearness of You by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think that this has to be my favourite story by this author so far. I absolutely loved reading Lauren and David’s story. Lauren is one of those character who you instantly find a connection with, she is genuinely really nice and a real down to earth person. David had that British charm that I really love and I adored him! The romance between the two was so sweet and I thought that their connection was really natural and genuine. There was a bit of angst running through the story with a certain secretary!
One of the things that I love about this author is her ability to make me feel like I am right there living the journey along with her characters. Her attention to detail is amazing and she really brings her stories to life.
As always I will definitely be looking forward to the next book from this very talented author!

Calling the Curveball (Lawson Family Series #1) by Tracey Cramer-Kelly – Review by Katie Matthews

Calling the CurveballCalling the Curveball by Tracey Cramer-Kelly
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a touching and emotional read. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I loved every minute of it. Her writing was so beautiful, it flowed well and I was completely captivated by what I was reading.
I loved Jamie and Kira’s story! It was so heartfelt and genuine. I could really feel Jamie’s inner turmoil, he was frightened to fall in love with someone else with what had happening in his past. But for me if there was anyone he could fall in love with then it should be Kira – she was so perfect for him. They had a real slow paced relationship, they were clearly attracted to each other but Kira especially was very mindful of Jamie and his past. I really did love reading about their journey together. I will admit that there were times I was frustrated with Jamie – I really wanted him to open up to Kira about everything.
I really did think that this was a lovely story with great characters, both the main and the secondary ones. I look forward to reading more from the series!

I really enjoyed reading Alessandro’s story even it was emotional at times. I enjoyed reading her journey of how she became the woman I read about in The Only One. The author’s detailed writing enabled me to be fully invested in the story. I am really looking forward to the next one in the series to find out more about these great characters!

Ring Tru (Thick as Theives Book 1)Ring Tru by Janice M. Whiteaker
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this book! When I first read the blurb I was intrigued to read it and whilst it did take me a little bit to get into once I did I was completely hooked. I’ve not read a storyline like this one before which meant it was really refreshing to read. There were some good twists and turns and most were unexpected. I loved Tru – I thought that she was a great female lead. Will was a great male lead and loved the intenseness between them, you can tell that what happened in their past is still at the very front of any interactions between them. The author got the level of suspense perfect and carried on the whole way through the story.
This is the second book that I have read by this author and I can’t wait to read more from her in the future. Ring Tru is a brilliant read that I highly recommend!

E. Hall, Taylor Lee, Donna Fasano, Cynthia Cooke, Susan Jean Ricci, Tamara Ferguson, Suzanne Jenkins, Natalie Ann, Ev Bishop, Alyssa Bailey, Stacy Eaton, Jen Talty and Melinda De Ross

This anthology is a wonderful collection of stories that will have in the holiday spirit straight away. There are stories about classic romance, stories full of suspense, stories of loss and finding new love and much, much more in this box set. I love anthologies as it allows me to read stories by authors that are new to me and also some of my favourite authors. I loved all of the stories but particularly enjoyed the following three (all new to me authors too!)

A Royal White Christmas – Leanne Banks
This is definitely one of those stories you want to be longer! I was so swept up in Brice and Holly’s story. I loved how they met and the connection that they had. There was such a sweet and genuine romance between them – they were both really lovely characters.

Can She Get Home For Christmas? – Rebecca York
This was a great suspense story! I loved all the little twists and turns that kept me on the edge of my seat. I think that they author did a great job with creating such tension in a story so short! I loved Sam and Jax, I kind of got a little paranormal feel about this story too.

Christmas With the Clouds – Suzanne Jenkins
This was a really emotional story and the author did a great job of getting all of those emotions across. I thought that Tracy was such a strong character and I loved the friendship she built up with Elizabeth. Jasmine was a little cutie too. A touching story about loss and finding love again.

Overall I thought that this was a wonderful anthology, all beautifully written and entertaining. This is definitely worthy of the 5 stars I give it.

I loved Fat Girl (book 1 in the box set) Claire really spoke to me as a character; I just loved everything about her. She was such a realistic and relatable character.
I loved how each book, although took place in the same setting, was completely different.
A fantastic box set of 5 star reads – I highly recommend it I don’t think you will be disappointed!

I have been so looking forward to reading the next instalment in this series. I have truly fallen in love with the characters in the story and the author. Her writing completely absorbs me into the amazing world that she had created. Her beautiful descriptions of the settings for the stories are a huge plus for these books – her attention to detail is amazing.
I really did feel for Soren, my heart broke for him a little in this story and I really felt like I got to know him a lot more than I had in the previous books. As soon as he met Elena I could feel the connection, I could almost feel his hope begin to rise to the surface, hope that he might be ok after all. I loved the passion and chemistry between them. I’ve tried not to have a favourite book in this series because I have loved them all so far but I think this one may just take the top spot. I absolutely loved it and I really cannot recommend the book and the series enough!

Redemption, the fifth book in the Ash Park series and the fifth book that I could not put down! Each story really has gone from strength to strength. The author has truly done an amazing job keeping the excellent level of writing the same over the series; the plot has been exciting, gritty, and dark and has kept my attention throughout. She builds tension like no other author I have read before and throws in some fantastic and much unexpected twists! Just when you think you know what’s going to happen along comes one of those very twists! I would highly recommend reading the books in order but for absolute definite book 4 should be read before this one.
This has been an amazing series, definitely not for the faint-hearted. It is full of amazing characters, dark, gritty moments and above all absolutely flawless writing. I really cannot recommend Redemption and the Ash Park series enough!

When I first read the blurb for this book I will be honest and say I almost didn’t read it. I can’t and will never condone human trafficking so why would I read a book about it – but however I thought I would give it ago as it is a story after all. I am really glad that I did read and whilst I still don’t like the content of the book the author did write a really emotional, amazing story that really did keep my attention throughout. I really felt like I was on a journey with all of the characters and I really felt emotional whilst reading their stories. I’ve not read anything by this author before so I would definitely like to read more from her and I would definitely say if the subject matter is putting you off reading then please give it a go, the author really has done a fantastic job with writing this story and I would absolutely recommend it.

Who (Stalker, #1)Who by Megan Mitcham
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have to say this is one of the BEST books that I have read this year and I have read over 400! It was a brilliant read. I loved everything from the writing, to the plot, to the characters – it all just added up to make a story that was hard to put down and had me sucked in from the very beginning. I was a little bit hooked after reading the blurb, I knew it would be different to what I usually read – it also one of those books that hard to review because you don’t want to give away too many spoilers. What I will say was that it was an exciting read, with some fantastic twists and turns. I loved Larkin (our MC) I thought that she was great, a real alpha female in the workplace but had a softer side when it came to those who she loved. She had an amazing inner strength that I really admired.
Who is a fantastic, complex, gritty story that absolutely deserves the 5 stars I give it – I cannot recommend it enough and urge everyone to one click it today!! This is also my first read by his author and will absolutely not be my last! I can’t wait for more from this series!

I do love a good sports romance story so I was really looking forward to reading this one. It was one of those hard to put down stories and ok maybe it was a little predictable but I was still wrapped up in Lexi and Brett’s story. I loved the connection they had even if they didn’t know it! I loved the love/hate relationship and the banter they had between them.
I really liked Lexi, her job was obviously really important to her (got to be honest I would love her job) she was hard working, passionate and very driven. I loved that she wasn’t going to back down to Brett, I think the more he pushed her to apologise the less likely it was that she was going to! I think it was pretty obvious where the connection as going to lead with these two and it did lead to some pretty steamy moments!
I really liked the author’s easy going writing style, the story flowed well and I really enjoyed the characters. I would love to read more from her in the future.

Painting Kuwait Violet was a really intriguing read. I wasn’t quite sure what to expect when I first started but it really was such an eye opening read. I think we all know that these things happen in the real world but to read about it in such a way that made it so real was quite hard. I can’t imagine having to live my life the way that the characters in this story do, to know that you are just as equal as men but can’t show it must be soul destroying.
The author’s writing style was really engaging and at times very real. I was really captivated by the read and I was impressed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I would definitely like to read more in the future.

Alterations Trilogy by Jane Suen – Review by Katie Matthews

ALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal WillALTERATIONS TRILOGY: Alterations, Game Changer, Primal Will by Jane Suen
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This trilogy includes the three books Alterations, Game Changer and Primal Will.

Alterations
I loved this book! It was a nice break from my usual romance genres. I wasn’t sure I was going to like it in all honesty but the blurb really intrigued me and it didn’t take long to be completely sucked into it! I still can’t decide if I should like Dr Kite or not?? Half of me did and the other half was thinking what a psycho! Although if someone wanted to implant one of those weight-loss chips in me that I think I might consider it!! It is a fast paced book and the writing style of the author reflected this well in my opinion. It does jump about between characters but it’s all tied up during the later stages of the story. I found it easy to keep up with and I think it would have made a really good full length novel too!

Game Changer

I loved book 1 in this series, it was so different to anything I had read so I couldn’t wait to see what was going to happen next. I loved that each chapter again was short and to the point and that we got to see how each character was getting on. I had a feeling that there were going to be a few twists and turns in the story and I was right! I had no idea what was going to happen and the author kept me guessing the whole way through. The author’s unique writing style is really engaging, you don’t get bored with long chapters, everything moves at a good pace and my interest was kept all the way through. I love the girls in the story and enjoyed reading about their lives after the implants but the character who I love reading about the most is Dr Kite! His chapters are the shortest but he is the most intriguing!

Primal Will

I couldn’t wait to begin book 3 just to find out what was going to happen with Dr Kite! Throughout all of the stories he is the one I have been most intrigued with – is he trying to do good or is he actually manipulative and evil? I think that he is one of those characters where you kind of have to make up your own mind about him. I will say that I did see a slight different side to him in this story and I think that everything came full circle for all of the characters involved. It was a brilliant ending to this trilogy.

I enjoyed this story so much, the main character really spoke to me from the very beginning and I felt an instant connection with her. Kennedy was such a relatable character and I think that there are going to be so many readers out there that once they start reading realise this. After I read the blurb I wasn’t sure I would find this connection but I really did. I loved reading her story, her good times, her bad, her struggles and her joy. It felt like I was reading her diary and her inner dialogue was so funny at times. I found the book to be such an engaging read that I read it in one sitting I couldn’t put it down at all.
I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I loved her creative and engaging writing style so I would definitely love to read more from her again. I would absolutely have no hesitation in recommending Credence Woods to other readers; it was a wonderful read with an equally wonderful character!

Yet again another amazing story in this series and from this author – she never fails to impress me with her brilliant and captivating writing, characters who are fantastic and exciting, gripping storylines. I’m going to be honest I am not a huge fan of m/m stories; they are just not a genre I particularly enjoy however I did really enjoy this book. Yes I’ll admit I skim over the parts I’m not overly keen on but it didn’t take away for me what a wonderful read this was. The story detail was rich and the characters were well developed. This story could be read as a standalone however I would really recommend that the rest of the books are read as there are recurring characters and situations.
I really liked the characters in the story and having seen them in previous books I was looking forward to finally finding out more about them. I felt such a connection with Joker and my heart literally broke for him. The author took me on one huge roller-coaster of emotions during this read.
I absolutely would recommend this book, series and author – I don’t think you will be disappointed!

I did actually really enjoy the story and was glad that I took that chance on something different. I thought that the writing was good, the pace and flow of the story perfect and I really liked the characters. It was interesting to read how all the characters interacted with each other and I think the books set up the start of the series really well. I absolutely LOVE this author! Every book that I have read of hers I have loved and after reading ‘The Reader’ book 1 in this series I was really excited to get my hands on the second book. It was everything I expected and more, I was hooked from the very first page. The authors writing was just so easy to read, the words flowed seamlessly and it really was a pleasure to be immersed in such an amazing story. The characters were amazing and well thought out again – I’m still very much in love with Archer!! There were some great and unexpected twists and turns in the story, I loved the romance, the fantasy – in all honesty I loved all of it!
The Jack is another fantastic read by M.K. Harkins, I’m sure it would appeal to a variety of readers, especially YA, fantasy lovers and of course those romantics out there! The heat level is perfect for the story and not too much angst either!
I absolutely recommend this book and book 1 in the series also!

Hidden (Ash Park, #4) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Katie Matthews

Hidden (Ash Park, #4)Hidden by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Just when you think this series can’t get any better out comes book 4 and Ms O’Flynn takes the series to a whole new level. I have to say this has got to be my favourite from the series so far. The writing again was amazing dragging me into the story from the very first page. So whilst I think it would be perfectly fine to read this book as a standalone I would highly recommend the rest of the series too. I liked Detective Petrosky in the previous books so I was really looking forward to getting more from him in this one and he didn’t disappoint at all! Again the story was quite dark, very gritty but I have come to expect this from the series and although not always my kind of thing it has made for a very exciting read. The authors writing is very detailed so you can easily imagine what you’re reading, which at times is a little much but I still really enjoyed the story. She definitely knows how to keep me on the edge of my seat that’s for sure!
I am really looking forward to the next book in the series!!

The Boss Man: A Steamy Contemporary Romantic Suspense Novel (The Manly Series Book 4) by Teddy Hester – Review by Katie Matthews

This was a quick fun read that I enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I would really like to read the first three books in the series. This book can be easily read as a standalone.
I thought that the writing was engaging, smooth; the pace was fast and flowed well. It did take me a little to get into the story and warm up to the characters but once I did I found it hard to put down until I had finished. Jack and Jilly had a good amount of chemistry which led to a few steamy encounters. These I thought were well written and not over the top like I have read in the past. I liked that there was a little bit of mystery thrown into the story something which I definitely wasn’t expecting.
A good short read, perfect if you are looking for something a little steamy with good characters.
