Beachcomber Gone; Beachcomber Investigations Book 9 by Stephanie Queen – Review by Katie Matthews

Beachcomber GoneBeachcomber Gone by Stephanie Queen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Even after all the books in this series I am still completely hooked on Dane and Shana’s story, the author has been able to keep my interest for so long. I love that every book is different, always exciting and always has me on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what is going to happen after the turn of every page. This ninth book in the series could be read as a standalone however I would definitely recommend reading them in order – they are definitely worth it! The authors’ writing again was fantastic and I read the book easily in a few hours. Her attention to detail is always spot on and I absolutely love reading her books! I think this may be my favourite from the series and I really hope that there is more to come!!

Rhapsody and Rebellion: (Once Upon A Widow) (Enduring Legacy #7) by Aubrey Wynne – Review by Katie Matthews

Rhapsody and Rebellion (Enduring Legacy #7)Rhapsody and Rebellion by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I love a good historical romance story so when I read the blurb for this book I knew that I was going to enjoy it and I certainly did. I loved everything about this book, the era, the storyline and the characters. I’ve not read anything by this author previously so it was definitely exciting to find a new author of historical romance to love. Gideon was everything I expected of the male lead in this story and especially from this time period too. The authors writing was really good, her attention to detail in particular – I really felt like I could visualise what I was reading and I love this with this type of story. I really liked Alisabeth too, she was a great character and I loved reading the story between her and Gideon.
I think any lover of historical romance will enjoy this story and I highly recommend it! I am looking forward to reading more from this series and more from this author again in the future.

Only This Tuesday (A Copper Mills Novella) by Melissa Keir – Review by Katie Matthews

Only This Tuesday: A Copper Mills NovellaOnly This Tuesday: A Copper Mills Novella by Melissa Keir
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I loved this story! It was such a sweet romance story between two wonderful characters. Tuesday was a genuinely lovely person, the way she was with Gil melted my heart. She saw the potential in him and wanted to give him a chance! Before I even knew where the storyline was headed and we were introduced to the characters separately I knew that I wanted Tuesday and Blake to meet! The way Judith treated Blake made me cross, she was not a nice person at all! Blake was really nice and I loved this instant connection he had with Tuesday! They both deserved to find each other and I was rooting for them the whole way through!
I have read a book by this author previously and this one lived up to everything I expected from her. It was beautifully written and very engaging. I shall definitely be reading more from her again in the future!

A Tangy Christmas KissA Tangy Christmas Kiss by Allyson R. Abbott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such an enjoyable Christmas novel. I loved the setting for the story and it didn’t take me long at all to be completely swept up in Mel’s story. I really liked her character, she was a genuinely nice person and if it anything could happen to anyone then it definitely happened for her. There were some great laugh out loud moments and some very sweet romantic times too involving a sexy Spanish man! I loved the language barrier issues between them – some were quite funny!
This is definitely a heart-warming Christmas read – I have read work by this author previously and she never fails to entertain me with her wonderful story telling skills. I absolutely recommend this story for a nice read on a cold winter’s night!

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story (Under Ground Book 5) by Alice Rachel – Review by Katie Matthews

Dangerous Ground: Tina and Chase's StoryDangerous Ground: Tina and Chase’s Story by Alice Rachel
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is by far my favourite story from this series! I have enjoyed the other ones but I was completely absorbed and captivated by Chase and Tina’s story. I think it is really important that you take the authors advice because this book definitely is not a standalone so much has gone on in this series that builds up to this book and I think it is needed to fully understand what is going on. There is so much going on in this story that is very frightening feeling like reality. The author has done an amazing job with this story. She created a storyline I was consumed by and characters I absolutely adored! If you have read any of the books in this series previously then you will not be disappointed in this one. Dangerous Ground is a fantastic story that I HIGHLY recommend!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

And so we have the final book in the trilogy of the prequel series to The Brothers of Camelot series and what a final book it is! I have loved this trilogy – I’ve never read a prequel trilogy before and I thought it was such a fantastic idea by the author. Not only do I feel like I know the characters inside out but I am totally ready to carry on with the next part! I love this author’s writing style; she has totally captured my attention with her beautiful writing. Her characters are well thought out and progress so well over the story – especially Aless, I feel like I have grown up with her from the very beginning. I have seen her progress from a child to an almost warrior princess! She is a fantastic character and I love her!
The story is full of action and turn the pages fast enough! I highly recommend this book and the series needs to be read in order!!
I am looking forward to more to come from this author again in the future.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2) by Lynda Filler – Review by Katie Matthews

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie to Me series and I loved every second of it! I really enjoy this authors writing style, her descriptive language allows me to feel like I am really there in her stories and in this case in Mexico – I really could imagine everything that I was reading, the sights, the smells, the colours – everything was vivid in my mind!
This book should be read after book 1 as it is a continuation, one that follows the ending of book 1 very quickly time frame wise. Layla is moving after trying to get over Mateo leaving her the way he did. A change if scene and a place full of sexy men certainly seems to be the idea that Layla has to help her achieve this! And this distraction comes with the name Pablo! Oh he was a hot one!! There was certainly a lot of passion between the two of them!
Alongside all the passion and culture that the author includes in her stories Ms Filler adds other aspects too from a social and political side, this makes her books refreshing to read.
From the writing style side, it did take me a little time to get into but I liked the past and present telling of the story and the format it was written in – it suited the story well.
I am looking forward to more from this author again in the future!

Degrees of Control (Prestian Series #3) by Via Mari – Review by Katie Matthews

Degrees of Control (Prestian Series, #3)Degrees of Control by Via Mari
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Since finishing book 2 in this series I have been itching to start book 3 – I needed more of Chase and Katarina’s story and I was not disappointed at all! This is definitely turning out to be a 5 star series! The author took the drama to the next level in this book and for the first time I started questioning whether I actually like Katarina or not, this is the first time that I have ever had my feelings change towards a main character so far into the series and I love it! For me it means the author is keeping her characters fluid and they are evolving with the storyline! I still love Chase; he is an alpha male but with a softer side which I really like about him. There is still an intense sexual chemistry between then two of them in this story which doesn’t seem to be showing signs of getting any less – although Katarina had turned down Chase’s proposal I am still rooting for them as a couple!
I am absolutely looking forward to the fourth book in the series and seeing what happens with Chase and Katarina!

A Must for Christmas: A Darling Cove NovellaA Must for Christmas: A Darling Cove Novella by Deborah Garland
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have really enjoyed this series so was really excited to find this new Christmas novella featuring some of my favourite characters! I loved Greg and Faith so couldn’t wait to read more about them. I love Christmas stories so I knew that I was going to love this one and I absolutely did! It was a really well written novella that I would quite happily have read a full length version of (mainly because I love this author and her amazing characters!) I loved that it was so much more than the sweet Christmas read I anticipated it to be, it had some great twists and turns in it and some very emotional moments. Ms Garland never fails to drag me into her stories and the lives of her characters with ease and this book was no exception. I would recommend the other books in the series are read as well so you can fully appreciate the back story of the main characters!
I loved A Must for Christmas and I look forward to more from this author again in the future!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

After finishing book 2 in this series I couldn’t wait to carry on with the story. It is a continuation story so I highly recommend the previous stories. I was excited to see recurring characters and also some new ones. I actually think this may have been my favourite from the series so far. The author creates such a magical, fantasy world through her amazing descriptive writing; she really does make you feel you are right there in the story. I really do love Beta and I love seeing how much her character has grown and continued to do so over this story, she seemed to gain this real strength about her. She has such determination to get revenge, she wants to stand up for what is right which is admirable and she is so passionate about it – that really comes across in this story! I loved all the new twists and turns that came up throughout the book. This really is a wonderful series and I cannot wait to see what is to come next from this author!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I absolutely adore Christmas stories they never fail to get me in the Christmas spirit and The First Backwards Christmas did just that! This is the third book that I have read by this author so I knew I would enjoy it and Ms Williams didn’t disappoint. It was a short and sweet read and in all honesty one that I didn’t really want to end. The authors descriptive language makes you feel like you are watching a festive film and not reading a story, I was able to imagine everything from the characters to the setting. It is definitely one of those stories for a cold winter’s night snuggled up in front of the fire! I loved Jack and Joyce and their connection. I felt like this was genuine and I was definitely rooting for them throughout the story!

Mad About Matt (Red Maple Falls #1) by Theresa Paolo – Review by Katie Matthews

Mad About Matt (Red Maple Falls #1)Mad About Matt by Theresa Paolo
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was a really sweet romance read that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I had a feeling I would enjoy the story as the blurb interested me and within a few pages I could tell it was my kind of read.
I really loved the characters, Shay and Matt. They were both down to earth people and had this great realistic feel about them. They are the kind of characters who you can’t help but like straight away and end up rooting for them the whole way through.
So I could see how the story could be a little predictable however I still loved it. I thought the authors’ writing was good – it was a perfect easy to read small town romance story. I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series.

Deadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover NovelDeadly Alliance: A Fortis/Purgatory Crossover Novel by Maddie Wade

AMAZING!!!! I love Maddie Wade and I love India Kells but together these two were phenomenal! When I saw these two had joined together to collaborate on a story I couldn’t wait to start it and I will admit I did have high expectations and they were met above and beyond what I thought. I loved every single minute of it. The two authors writing melded together perfectly, the storyline was fantastic and the characters were amongst some of the best I have read about so far this year. I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough as I was so captivated by everything that I was reading. There was suspense at every turn, it was action packed and so incredibly well written. There were plenty of twists and turns that kept me guessing about what was going to happen until the end.
Deadly Alliance is an incredible story written by two very talented authors who I really hope will team up again in the future!!

Courage (The Sisterhood Series #2)Courage by Chelsi Arnold
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

After reading and loving book 1 in this series I was really looking forward to starting this one and I wasn’t disappointed at all. I really love this authors writing and whilst it is set in the (not too distant) future she is able to make you feel like I right there in the story by giving her characters a realistic feel. I love the women in this series, they are so strong, independent and I love the way they are with each other, it’s really refreshing to read about women in the military and I think that is why I am loving this series as much as I am. The detail the author uses is rich and I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to find out what was going to happen to Greer and her Navy SEAL sisters.
A fabulous book in a wonderful series and I cannot wait to read more from this author in the future. I highly recommend this series!

Forgetting Ophelia: A Novel (Friendship & Secrets #2) by Julie C. Gardner – Review by Katie Matthews

Forgetting Ophelia: A Novel (Friendship & Secrets, #2)Forgetting Ophelia: A Novel by Julie C. Gardner
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Forgetting Ophelia is a beautifully written story that I thoroughly enjoyed. I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I really enjoyed her engaging and relaxed writing style. I really liked Lia; I connected with her straight away and felt for her as she tried to adjust to the unexpected changed in her life. I admired her strength as she began to rebuild her life. I think I kind of wanted to hate Jake for his cowardly ways and the way he treated Lia but as the story progressed I understood him a little better even if I didn’t agree with the things that he did.
The author did a great job with the emotional side of this story and I could feel what the characters were feeling. She made them realistic and likeable.
Overall I thought that this was a wonderful story, one that I would highly recommend! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

These cowboys are definitely worthy of reading about! Through this box set I have definitely found some new authors to explore and I look forward to reading more of their work again in the future. Embrace the Passion (Pets in Space Anthologies, #3)Embrace the Passion by S.E. Smith

Another fantastic collection of stories from this brilliant series of anthologies. All eleven stories were great to read and enjoyed all of them. Some of these authors I have read before but some were new to me and it was really great to find new authors to love! There isn’t one particular story that I enjoyed the most but there are a couple that have stuck in mind because of their uniqueness one being ‘Operation Ark by Pauline Baird Jones’. I really enjoyed everything about it, the authors writing was rich and detailed and I felt like I was there in the story with the characters.
I’m not usually a fan of alien stories but ‘Desert Hunter by Anna Hackett’ certainly changed my mind about that! From the very first page I was completely captivated by the storyline, the characters and the authors writing.
Overall a great anthology full of exciting stories of which I am sure there is something for everyone!

Hard as Steel: Book four (Surviving Series) by Virginia Wine – Review by Katie Matthews

Hard as Steel: Book four (Hard as Steel: Book four by Virginia Wine
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book that I have read by this author so obviously I read this as a standalone – I definitely think I would have benefited from reading the previous books in the series however I quickly read through the reviews so I kind of had an idea of what had happened previously. I enjoyed the story, I thought the characters were complex which meant I had to work a little harder to understand them, so it wasn’t a particularly easy read but I kind of liked that about the book. There were some good plot twists that definitely meant that I was constantly guessing what was going to happen next. The author’s writing was rich and detailed and I could really feel those emotional times coming across well. Whilst I didn’t connect with the characters, Steel and Nicole, as much as I thought I would or wanted to I did enjoy reading their story. I would definitely like to read more from this author and this series again in the future.

Climbing The Walls (Hart & Cole Book 1)Climbing The Walls by Sacha T. Y. Fortuné
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was a fantastic read and one that I couldn’t put down at all. The author wrote this book in such a way that I honestly felt I was a part of Kris and Nicole’s story. I could feel everything that they did, all the raw emotion that they felt towards each other. I think she depicted some aspects of some marriages really well and it felt like I was reading a real story at times. I really liked Kris, I thought that he was such a loving husband and there were times I really felt for him, Nicole was a character I did struggle to connect with at times. There were some good unpredictable twists in the story that I certainly didn’t see coming or expect at all!
Climbing The Walls is the author’s debut novel and I definitely think that she should be very proud of it. I am very much looking forward to the next book in the series and reading more about the characters.

I absolutely loved this book!! It was so magical with a good amount of suspense and along with it some fantastic plot twists and turns. I think this is my favourite read from this author so far. I thought the characters were great and I loved reading about them. What I really loved about this book was how unique it was and the author wrote it in such an engaging way that I couldn’t put it down, her world building is usually good but it was excellent in this book. I really liked Wren and I actually liked that I had to work hard to get to understand her, I found her character really intriguing but there was something about her that I just instantly liked. She was a fantastic, strong heroine to read about. I think I would definitely like one of the deserts that she bakes!!

Can’t Forget (Solum Series Book 2) by Colleen S. Myers – Review by Katie Matthews

Can't ForgetCan’t Forget by Colleen S. Myers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Another great read in this series! This book should be read after book 1 as it is a continuation of the story. Even though I really enjoyed book 1 in this series I think this one was even better. I loved reading more about Beta and Martin. I still really liked Beta and admired her determined attitude, she knew what she wanted and she wasn’t going to let anybody, not even Martin, get in her way! Martin was sweet and really just wanted to protect Beta the best he could, however with her mind set on revenge he was finding that a little, if not very, difficult.
There were again some great twists and turns in the story that made it all the more exciting to read. The imaginative world that Ms Myers has created in this series is amazing, I really feel like I can visualise the setting at all times.
A great second book in this series that I highly recommend! I look forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

This is one amazing series! After loving book 1 I was really looking forward to starting this one and I wasn’t disappointed at all. Everything I loved about book 1, the writing, the plot and the characters – I loved again with this book. The author has an amazing talent at dragging you into her stories straight away and not letting you out until the very end.
As Chase and Katarina’s story continues we get to see more into their relationship both professionally and personally. We see Katarina discover the father she never knew and danger surround Chase as he tried to protect those nearest to him. With danger lurking around every corner I couldn’t turn the pages quick enough to see what was going to happen next. The suspense and action that they author created was amazing and kept me on the edge of my seat.

Got to be honest I absolutely loved this book! It was exciting to read, it was entertaining and I couldn’t put it down! It was also a fantastic introduction to Ms DuMond as a brand new author to me. The story was fast paced and the flow was perfect.
I could feel the tension between Evie and Dylan rolling off the pages as I took in their story. I really liked Evie, she was a strong independent woman but as I got to know her more and the more I read about her I could see that this was a front and she was covering up for things that had happened in her past. Dylan is extremely hot and I just knew that the connection and chemistry between the two of them would be good – and I wasn’t wrong!!
I absolutely cannot wait for the next book in the series and I really need to check out the prequel to the series too!
A fantastic 5 star read that I highly recommend!!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really, really enjoyed this book! When I first looked at the blurb I honestly wasn’t sure what kind of read I was in for so I was intrigued and that intrigue paid off, it was a very, good read and a great introduction to a new to me author. I’ve read a few sci-fi books however it is still a genre that is quite new to me. Born to Fight dragged me in almost straight away, the authors writing style was engaging and her descriptive language particularly good. There was a good mix of genres really in the story and everything melded together really well. The author used multiple points of view to tell the story which I’ll be honest I love! I love seeing things from different characters perspectives and I felt like I really knew the characters, Hunter and Rain really well. There were some good twists and turns in the story that definitely meant my interest was kept form beginning to end. It was nice to read something a little different and also something I found unpredictable.
I am definitely looking forward to reading more from this author again in the future.

After finishing book 1 in this series I couldn’t wait to get my hands on the second and get stuck in! I was so happy that the book did not disappoint! I really, really enjoyed it and again the author dragged me into the story straight away. This book should definitely be read after book 1 as it is a continuation and begins around 9 months after the incredible ending that the author left us with.
Again I was captivated be Alessandra’s story and it is hard to remember sometimes, because of the life she’s lived and is still living, that she is still only a teenager. The story is a great mix of coming of age situation interspersed with violence – there certainly are twists and turns on every page which kept me riveted from the beginning to the end.
Alessandra is a fantastic character and I am really enjoying her story and seeing her grow up – she is mature far beyond her years and I think as she gets older she really will be a force to be reckoned with! I cannot wait to see what will happen in the next book!!

This is one of those books that when you first read the blurb you are a little unsure about but once you are finished you are so glad that you read it. I will admit the front cover didn’t catch my eye so this definitely falls in to the ‘don’t judge a book by its cover’ category. The story was a little different to what I normally read but a change is good sometimes. I thought that the author created a really exciting and mysterious world in this story, through her excellent descriptive language I felt like I was right there amongst the characters. I loved that I couldn’t guess what was going to happen and the author kept me guessing right until the very end. The author made me feel like I was part of the story as I was so immersed in trying to find out who did it!

Ahhh this book!!! I have spent ages trying to decide what to give it as star rating it has me all tied up – on one hand I was totally captivated by it, it was exciting, unpredictable, full of angst but that ending! Oh my gosh what is this author trying to do to me! This really was a brilliantly written story; I honestly could not put it down. The author has this amazing way of grabbing your attention straight away and not letting you out until the end, I was so immersed in the story that I didn’t see the twists and turns coming at all.
I think that this is one of those books that whatever I say will not do the book justice – it has to be read to be understood just how fantastic a read it was. This book should definitely be one-clicked today!!!
After reading two books by this author I cannot wait to read more from her again in the future.

F*cking Frank (Smirk Series Book 1)F*cking Frank by Jen Luerssen

Brilliant story! I loved that the book was told from Frank’s POV it made it really different to read. There were some great moments in this story and the two main characters Frank and Mikey definitely made it for me. I loved how I was crying with laughter one minute and then crying with emotion the next. The author kept me engaged the whole way through and I never wanted it to end.
When I first read the blurb I already had an idea in my mind what Frank would be like but I think because of how the author decided to write this story I really understood him more. I loved the banter between the two of them and there was definitely a lot of sexual chemistry and tension between them!
This is the second book that I have read by this author that I have loved and I cannot wait to read more from her again in the future.
I highly recommend F*cking Frank – it is a fantastic read with brilliant characters and plenty of laugh out loud moments!
