The Aloha Series Box Set (Books 1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Kelli Harper

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This series of 3 stories are all based in Hawaii. The first two books are about surfers and while I would have enjoyed getting Bones’s story in the third book. There was definitely a story to tell about Claudia and Henry in book 3.
Keoni and Mary Lou were up first in Try Easy and it is a very sweet story. The start as strangers and she is visiting Hawaii for 2 weeks then heading back home to her boyfriend and the plan they have for their lives.
Keoni is never going to allow himself to fall for a tourist. But life has a way of raising its head and showing you that you are wrong.

Book 2 Try Me is Declan and Pearl’s story, him a professional surfer and she is a cigarette girl and surfing is a passion of hers. Their story is a fake relationship tale, where they end up falling in love. Both characters have lost someone they love to the waves that they crave. Can they make it ?

Book 3 is Claudia and Henrys story. Claudia is a bit part actress just trying to get a big break and Henry is a stunt man. Their story is also set in Hawaii and is just as riviting as the other two stories in this series.

You will fall in love will all of the characters and their stories and it will keep you turning pages

A Love Restrained by Becky Flade – Review by Kelli Harper

A Love RestrainedA Love Restrained by Becky Flade
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Growing up in two different lifestyles, Kylee in a loving and secure home and Jayson from an abusive home.
Never able to pursue the relationship he wanted to pursue in high school. Jayson thinks he can make it up to Kylee now, but can a criminal like him get a cop like her to fall in love with him?

There is a HUGE time lapse of 6 years in the middle of this story where I feel there was so much that was left out. I could see there being a whole other story with the main story. The author could have ended this book on a cliff hanger and written a book about the 6 years, then pick up but alas that is not what happened. I feel there is a lot we could have learned about Kylee and Jayson and how they have come to be who they are now.

Good story line if you can follow the dialogue. Sometimes the switch from First to third person and back can get confusing. But it does add a depth to the book that is unusual.

This is the first book I have read by this author, and I will be looking into more. Very good story.

Things get steamy when the two of them realize they each have feelings for the other. Noah however has some things in his past that he needs to deal with before he puts Callie in even more danger, or is it too late? Great steamy story with a suspenseful mystery. New to me author and I really enjoyed this book. It definitely keeps you turning the pages.

Ashes of Sin and Stardust (AnchorX) by Lindsay Murray – Review by Kelli Harper

Ashes of Sin and StardustAshes of Sin and Stardust by Lindsay Murray
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book comes with an author written trigger warning and it is there for a reason. Some of the details in this book are VERY descriptive and there are many things that are major red flags for many. Human trafficking, BDSM, knife play, choking, talks of and attempts of self harm. Murder, rape, and so many other topics that are concerning to many.

Just like any other work of fiction, detail is key to a good story. This book does not lack in detail. This is a very long read and it took me longer than normal to finish it, but it was OH SO WORTH IT. Ruben and Alice are fated and the way their love grows and develops is just awe inspiring to watch.

This is a new to me author and I am really hoping to read more about some of the other couples in this book. Would be wonderful to read about how they discovered each other and their dynamics.

A former football player and now a school teacher and an artist find themselves in quite a tangle. Follow along as TJ and Kat develop a relationship and try to figure out how to balance work, family, a new baby and Katrina’s illness. This book is definitely a page turner. Page turning contemporary romance. Ella and Jake are both very passionate about protecting those they love. This book was a first for me by this author and I do recommend this book. Great story, and the chemistry between the two main characters is off the charts. The way Jake pays attention to the little things and notices details as well as asks about Tessa is fantastic.

A new to me author, this one does not disappoint at all. This was a very engaging story. The characters are very well written and will have you enthralled from the first. The DetailThe Detail by Dana Wayne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Very well written, The Detail, is the first book I have read by this author. Full of action and some suspense. This book will have you on the edge of your seat in some points. The Male and Female main characters are partners as law enforcement officers, and they are attracted to each other yet the other has no clue how they feel. The fact that it is mutual, and they haven’t shared this with each other yet is the first in a long progression of suspenseful moments in this story. The storyline has substance, and the characters are well developed and very interesting. I can’t wait to read more from this author.

This is a super sweet book. A small-town mayor and a Pop Princess meet, develop a relationship, and prove to the world that normal and extraordinary can work.
Eric is a small-town mayor, and he is a private person, but can he overcome his need for privacy and allow himself to be seen in public with one of the most recognizable pop stars ever?
Kiki is trying to break out of the Pop world and write more mature music. She wants to embrace the fact that she is no longer the child star that she once was and PROVE to the world that she is more than the flashy outfits.
The couple is thrown a few road blocks so lets see if they can dodge the obstacles.
This is the fifth book in the series but I haven’t read the first four and had no problems understanding the plot and figuring out the secondary characters and their part in the story.

One in A Billion (Pierce Brothers Book 3) by Belinda Williams – Review by Kelli Harper

One In A Billion (Pierce Brothers, #3)One In A Billion by Belinda Williams
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in this series and it can be read as a stand alone. The Pierce brothers are barely mentioned and have very little page time in this book. While they are totally attracted and drawn to each other, there wasn’t any real excitement in this story. It was likeable enough and flowed ok. But the “must keep turning the pages” draw that I got from the first book just wasn’t there this time. I was more drawn in by Pip’s circumstances in this book. Still gave it four stars as the character development was there. Just didn’t get as excited this time around.

This story is amazing. Nicco and Destiny are not in a rush to do anything together. Their chemistry is off the charts but they have both been badly hurt before and have no desire to experience that again. Can they find love together? Will they over come all of the walls they each have up?
After spending weeks getting to know one another, what happens next?
WONDERFUL story. Definitely worth the anticipation from chapter to chapter.

This book is so sweet, cute, and romantic. Bonus is you get three almost four stories in one. First story the couple is set up by the book store owner. She swaps their packages on purpose so that they will have to seek each other out and exchange their purchases.
Second couple is a divorced couple who still love each other very much and the matchmaker bookstore owner does what she can to meddle and get them back together again.
The third part in this book is the Book store owners own happily ever after.
All three of these stories are intertwined and the females all become very close friends. This is a great light hearted read that is just a real feel good story.

Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail Order Bride by Debra Parmley – Review by Kelli Harper

Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides SeriesIsabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides Series by Debra Parmley

Very well written Historical romance, Isabella finds herself alone and wanting a husband so that she may start a family. She, like several of her friends learn about a mail order bride advertisement and so she finds an ad that sounds like a wonderful opportunity. After writing to the man several times she boards a train to meet him. This is where things start to take a turn.
There are a few triggers in this story, to list them actually spoils the story so just know this book is not for the faint of heart.

Tia has skeletons of her own and is trying to stay out of the spotlight so that she doesn’t draw the attention of an ex that is trying and so far successful at destroying her life.

This book hits home HARD. Being in love with a military veteran who suffers from severe PTSD this book gutted me. It is a mental health issue that people really don’t discuss. The hardest thing is not being able to help. This book is a fantastic story and I hope it opens peoples eyes as to how PTSD affects those that suffer from it and those that love them.

This story was well written. The story line is fabulous. To use her place at the head of the “house of ill repute” as a means to get close to the ones she is targeting. You can even tell that she is anxious about the tasks she is carrying out.
Then she ends up with help and they are able to target the biggest offender. Will they be successful?

Tickety Tock (Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter) by Manda Mellett – Review by Kelli Harper

Tickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona ChapterTickety Tock: Wicked Warriors MC Arizona Chapter by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Manda Mellett is an amazing story teller and this one is no different. I have become a follower of the Wicked Warriors and I am in love with them all. Dwarf is an outstanding person. What he has endured his entire life due to his lack of height is just wrong in so many ways, But when he discovers that it was not a deer that ran into the road in front of his motorcycle, but a female, his protective instincts kicked into overdrive and he made sure to protect her. Even when the thing/person tormenting her couldn’t be seen.

I am fascinated with the was Ms. Mellett has combined the paranormal in this story. You must read this book to appreciate how real this all comes across.

Definitely a must read author.

SquidSquid by Brooke May
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first time I have read anything by this author. The way she makes me dislike the main character Levi is unmatched. I disliked his whole entitled attitude and the way he thought he was God’s gift to women. His drunken womanizing ways was just icky. Then as the story evolves and Levi is made to grow up and become a REAL man, I start liking him. This book has some funny parts and some serious parts but the chemistry between Levi and Kindle is definitely there from the moment they meet. Good story, I will read her stuff again.

Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series (Books 1-5)Reigning Hearts: The Complete Series by K.G. Fletcher
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

K.G. Fletcher is quickly becoming a favorite author of mine. I read this book set and I have fallen in love with her real-life characters and situations.

This box set contains four full length stories and one novella.

Run to the Sea is a friends to lovers romance. Emmeline and Thomas were childhood best friends then he moved away. After being gone for years now he is back.

Stars Fall From the Sky is a small town second chance romance. Ginger and Jonathon can the let go of the past and over come to make things work? This book has all the emotions.

Sun So Bright is a billionaire heiress/enemies to lovers romance. Fiona has lost herself through the years, can Chris help her find herself?

I’ll See You Again is a Rock star/opposites attract romance. This story is about Nicky and Mac. This will have you running the highest of highs as far as laugh out loud funny but it will also have you mad as a wet hen. This is a great story

A Cold Creek Christmas is a Single dad holiday romance. This is a novella and in my opinion as a humble reader it was too short. I want more of Amber and Gio

Melodie and Isaac meet in such a crazy way. Then the lengths that Melodie goes to hoping to make Isaac happy. The best way to find your match is to be friends first. The first book details how Melodie and Isaac met and the events that transpire.

The second book in this set has us delving deep into who Melody and Isaac are and we meet their families who are so totally opposite and different. This book really has you wishing you could smack one of the characters and as what her problem is.

Highly recommend this box set. It is a quick read and will definitely have you turning pages just to see what happens next. Great development of characters. Even the secondary characters you feel engaged in.
