Ruthless Hawke (The Hawke Family Second Generation Book 1)Ruthless Hawke by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Every time I pick up a book by this author I think there is no possible way she could ever top the last one I read. And yet each time she seems to do just that. This book was absolutely incredible and the best possible way to kick start this new series. I am so pleased we are getting even more books to add to this collection and I already know they rest will be hard pushed to beat this one for me.
The chemistry and connection between the characters was amazing. It was evident on every single page and I was drawn to it straight away. And it wasn’t just the characters that was so good, the story was equally as fantastic. The combination of the two have made this book a strong contender for favourite of the year already! I would urge everyone to pick up this book today.

Myself and my kids were drawn to this book because it was about butterflies however it was the authors storytelling that kept us engaged. This whole book was clearly designed to capture a child’s attention and I can say from my experience that it worked.
The story was everything I have come to expect from this author – educational yet fun. As usual, the whole family enjoyed this book and we have read it multiple times. This is a great story for kids that I would highly recommend.

Wild Lavender (Heart & Hand, #1)Wild Lavender by Nicole E. Kelleher
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is a great mix of historical romance and fantasy. It is a fairly exciting story and I found myself drawn to it. It is a pretty fast paced story, and once I had started reading it I found it hard to stop. I thought the characters were brilliant. Anna was such a strong character. For me, she carried so much of the book and it was her that kept me reading.
This is a pretty new author to me and I am still getting used to her writing style. I loved that she combined these two genres and she did it so well. There was some strong development throughout the story and it just made the book even better. I am very much looking for book two.

This is a fantastic book that, for me, was all about the characters. Dean and Rae are such strong and brilliant characters. Despite their turbulent start they really were very well matched. They both had a certain passion and you could feel the chemistry between them on each and every page.
But it wasn’t just the characters that stood out. The author has also written a brilliant book that compliments them. I found it engaging and could not put the book down once I had started reading it. There are ups and down and it really made the book interesting to read. If this is the first book in the series I can’t wait to see what is next.

As the second book in the series I already had certain expectation when I started reading this one and I am pleased to say they surpassed them. I enjoyed the overall premise of this book. It felt fun and entertaining while also providing a strong story. I thought Kayla and Evan worked well together. They had a natural chemistry that developed even more as the story progressed.
This is still a pretty new author to me but so far I am liking what I have been reading. She has a fairly easy writing style meaning you engage with the story with ease. After reading this book I can definitely say I am looking forward to the next one and to discovering more of this authors work.

What a great addition to the series this book is. Right from the start I loved the characters. I thought they had an amazing dynamic and the complications that come from raising a child just added to this. I think the author has done really well at portraying their relationship.
Although this is the fourth book in the series it can be read as a standalone. It is a well developed storyline that is truly enjoyable to read. This is one of my favourite tropes and the author has done it so well. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book and cannot wait to see what else is to come.

This book give such a raw and honest look at the author and her inner thoughts. But it also goes much further than that. It forces the reader to take a look at themselves too, taking you on the journey the authors goes through. Even if you don’t relate to every one of the struggles portrayed in this book, every person will relate to at least one of them.
The emotions are present throughout this book too. You experience them all as you read through this story and each one is effective and powerful. From the description I thought I would enjoy this book, I just didn’t expect to enjoy it quite as much as I did. This is definitely one everyone should add to their list!

This is a great collection that ties together three novellas. They are really well written and detailed, the authors interest and passion clearly coming through on each page. Although they are all short stories, they are fast paced and have the right amount of suspense for this type of story.
The author has created some truly interesting characters. They show shape shifters from a different perspective and really get you, as the reader thinking. They are likeable and relatable. These books felt different to others I have read by this author and I found them thoroughly enjoyable.

It had been a while since I had read a book by this author and as soon as I started reading this one I was pulled straight back into her writing style. This book is just as gripping and intense as her others, with characters that completely consume you. I loved the idea behind the story. I found it appealing and I engaged with the story in its entirety.
The characters in this book I think are some of my favourite. The seem to be worlds apart from each other but forge such a strong connection. I could have easily read so much more about them. Manda Mellett is an author that I will read without reading a book description anymore. I have never yet been disappointed. This book was absolutely fantastic and I am already planning on reading it again.

As usual with this author this is a fun and interactive book that the whole family has enjoyed reading. It was engaging and lively but still had a strong lesson running through it. The story appealed to both my children, despite their age difference. My eldest was thoroughly disappointed when her socks didn’t make her fly too.

This book is one that anyone around the same age as the main character should read it. Even as an adult this book was so relatable. It portrayed that era of school so well and it really brought memories of how it was for me. This made it so easy to connect with the story and the characters, especially the main character.
This is an author that I have become quite familiar with over the last couple of years and it really feels like her writing just gets better and better. This was a brilliant story and a really great way to kick off a new series. I am already looking forward to picking up book 2.

This is a gritty and action packed story, with a lot going on from start to finish. You can feel the passion the author has for this story from the detail that has been included. At times the story felt a little bit slower to read but the basis of it stayed strong and interesting.
I was definitely intrigued to find out what was going on. The slow build really added to the story, creating a great thriller. I thought the characters all fit within the story well. This is the first book that I have read by this author and although there were times I wanted more pace, it was a good story. I will look to read more in the future.

This series honestly keeps getting better and better. When I picked up the first book I never imagined this series would be able to sustain this longevity or that I would enjoy it as much as I do and yet that is exactly what has happened. Each book just adds so much to the series overall and, like this one, is a brilliant story in its own right.
I loved getting back into these characters and their lives. It took no effort for this book to draw me back into their world and have me engrossed from start to finish. I am reluctant to say that this was my favourite so far simply because they have all been so good. At the very least it is on par with the rest. This is a fantastic series and a brilliant book. I cannot wait for more!

Wow, what a chemistry between the two main characters! I knew before starting this book it was going to be strong as that was evident even just from the description. But their connected and the chemistry between them can be felt on every single page. For me, it is this that truly carries this book along with watching them develop as the story progresses.
I thought the overall story was well written and a great read. It is the fourth book in the series but can be easily read as a standalone. There is an easy flow to the story but the author has managed to introduce a good level of detail. This was a thoroughly enjoyable story and a great rock star romance.

It was great to get caught up I the story the author was telling and the characters on the page. I wanted to see how things would place out and if the main character would figure it out.

This book is the second in the Anderson Sisters series and was definitely as good as the first. It is a contemporary romance that can be read as a standalone. The book is certainly emotional, tackling a sensitive topic in a gentle way. For me this really impacted the characters and made them much more relatable and real. They had a great connection right from the start but had such a huge obstacle to overcome.
The author weaves and enjoyable story that connects with its audience. It has a great balance between emotional, romance and an overall enjoyment. I think this is a great book and I am looking forward to more from this author.

This is such a fun and cute story that all kids will absolutely love! The author has the balance of this book just right – it is educational and insightful but also retains the fun that kids need to keep their interest. There were plenty of giggles as we all read this book, with pirate voices to boot. My kids loved this book – the story, the characters and the illustrations. It has become a regular in our household and I can’t see that changing anytime soon. This is a book that I would highly recommend and is fun for all of the family.

This book is my favourite of the series so far. I knew, just from the description, that I was going to enjoy this book but I didn’t expect it to be one I couldn’t put down. I read this book in one sitting because I could not get enough of the characters. They were so real. Their journey isn’t something you just read about, it is something you experience with them.
The story itself fit the characters perfectly. It was well thought out and perfectly executed. I could have kept reading for much longer than the book goes on for. I am excited and sad for the next book as it means more of this fantastic series but it is also the last. In the meantime I will just re-read this book again.

I actually connected with the characters more than I expected and I became invested in the story.
What I enjoyed the most about the book was the overall development. The author knew what she wanted out of the story and directed it so well. It was well written from start to finish and a really interesting read. I am looking forward to seeing what else this series has to offer.
