Murder Creek (Audio Book) by Jane Suen – Review by Kerry Baker

It has been quite a while since I read this book so when I saw the audio version I thought it would be a great way to go through a re-read. I thought the narrator did a great job. I was completely pulled into the story and, although I knew what was going to happen, I still felt the mystery and the intrigue. I was lost in the story from the moment I started listening. I think it works well as a short book, I could fit this story in easily to a hectic schedule.

This is an author that I really enjoy and I think the books translate well to audio. I really enjoyed getting into this book and I will definitely be listening to more.

This is the second book in the series and it is just as good as the first. I thought it was so easy to sink back into this world, this era and this book is just as vivid and imaginative as the first. I thought the story was well developed. It felt like it was clearly thought through and detailed and had everything needed to draw you, as the reader, in.
I really enjoyed the characters. They fit the story so well and they all have their parts to play. They are interesting to read about and I really connected with them. This is a great story and one that I thoroughly enjoyed.

This is a quick and easy YA paranormal story that can appeal to people of most ages. The story is quick to pick uo even if you haven’t read the previous books, although it would be my recommendation to read them in order. The characters are all likeable and believable. It is easy to imagine kids of this age doing and saying the same things. I thought the author did a great job of portraying the age range and connecting with a range of audiences. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I always love a good retelling and this book was a great example. It is unique take on Alice in Wonderland and the book has all the fun chaos that ia associated with it. I loved how dark and intense the story felt. It was so similar and yet at the same time completely different. I was pulled into the story easily and had to find out what was going on.
This is a new author for me and what a great way to be introduced. If this book is anything like the rest of work then I can’t wait to discover more.

Isabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides SeriesIsabella Bride of Ohio: American Mail-Order Brides Series by Debra Parmley
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is quite a quick, sweet romance about Isabella and her journey. So much has happened to her that you find yourself wanting her to get a happen ending. I found myself really connecting to her as a character but not so much to Mr Jenks. I didn’t like how he came across. I would have also loved to know more about the stranger on the train as he definitely intrigued me.
This is an overall enjoyable book that was a great way to pass the time.

To be a Fae Guardian (Realm Chronicles Book 2) Audio Book by Tricia Copeland – Review by Kerry Baker

I love being able to follow up a good book with the audio version so I was excited to get to read this one. I thought the narrator did a great job of bringing the story and the characters to life. They made them feel so much more real and I could visualise everything with ease.
The story still felt just as exciting as when I was reading it Ns even though I knew what was coming I still felt like I was surprised anew. I really enjoyed this adaption and hope to listen to more of this authors books.

Levi (The Brothers of Creekside Ranch Book 1) by Edith Mackenzie – Review by Kerry Baker

LeviLevi by Edith Mackenzie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a contemporary romance story with a bit of excitement thrown in for good measure. This story had a bit of everything you could want from this genre – great characters with a strong connection, a sweet and believable romance as well as bit of action for entertainment. I thought the two main characters worked really well together. There was push back from both of them in the start but the bond between them grew into such a strong connection.
I thought the author did a great job with the supporting characters too. Everyone added to the overall story nicely. The book was well developed and a truly sweet romance. I am looking forward to more from this author.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a pretty enjoyable short story. It is quite a quick paced book due to its length but it was easy enough to get in to. The boom lacked a little bit of depth, which at times I felt could have easily been added without losing the novel feel to it, however it soon picked back up again.
The characters were easy to connect with and fit with the story well. I liked that we got to see things from the dual perspective and for me that made the book. This is a quick and easy read that is enjoyable from staff to finish.
