True Colors (The Colors Trilogy Book 3) by K.R. Raye – Review by Kerry Baker

True ColorsTrue Colors by K.R. Raye
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This book is the final one of the series and it is just as good as the others. I loved getting back into these characters. They have such strong and complex stories that it is always interesting to read about them.
Although I didn’t want the series to end I was glad to see how it all played out. It really feels like you have been on a journey with these 3 characters and it was nice to see that journey come to a conclusion. This book is every bit as enjoyable as I expected and this is a series that everyone should try!

The Aloha Series Box Set (Books 1 – 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Kerry Baker

Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3Aloha Series Box Set Books 1-3 by Jill Brashear
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a well written series with some great standalone books forming it. I had only read one of the books in this series when I got the boxed set so I was excited to read more of them. Each are as good as the others. The characters are engaging and easy to connect with, the stories all flow well and are great books to read.
Each book had the same feeling to them but they were all distinct from each other. The characters stood out and none of the storylines felt like there were iterations of another. I was impressed with the writing style and enjoyed each and every one of these books. This is a series I would recommend.

Fatal Memory (Agent Red:Teagan Stone Series Book 1) by Ava S. King – Review by Kerry Baker

Agent Red: Fatal Memory (Teagan Stone, #1)Agent Red: Fatal Memory by Ava S. King
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I think this is a good start to a new series. It definitely felt like it was setting the scene for the other books to come but it was a great way to be introduced to the characters and the overall story. I enjoyed reading about the main character. She is strong and interesting to read about and, for me, carried the story.
The book was quite a short read, fast paced and fully of action. I think the author had a bit of scope to go into more detail and draw it out a bit longer but I enjoyed what had been written. This book has done its job and got me interested enough to read what comes next.

A Love RestrainedA Love Restrained by Becky Flade
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

A second chance, opposites attract romance with some really good character development. Kylee and Jayson had a strong chemistry between them, even though they really should stay away from each other. Their worlds clash in a big way and yet they find themselves drawn to each other.
I thought the overall story was pretty good. I found the switch between 1st and 3rd person to be a little confusing at times. I think the story would have been stronger for the author picking one POV to tell the story in. However, I enjoyed the idea behind the story and found myself engaged in what I was reading. This is a good book with some great characters.

Chasing Hope Audiobook by Dana Wayne – Review by Kerry Baker

This is an overall lovely story about characters finding their way to their chance at a happy family. The characters were easy to relate to and were so good because the author didn’t try and hide their flaws. I loved the way the author dealt with the issue of PTSD. It felt like a sensitive approach but one that still conveyed the seriousness of the issue.

I enjoyed experiencing the book in the audio version too as it really helped me to visualise more everything happening. It took no effort to be pulled along by the story and it was great to have it playing. This is a wonderful book that I thoroughly enjoyed.

I was so exciting to see another book in this series, I had to start reading it straight away as I couldn’t wait. I was instantly transported straight back into the world that this author has so imaginatively created. This book, like the others, just adds to how outstanding this series is. Each one I think is better than the last and that the author surely can’t do any better. Each time she shows us just how much more she has to give.
The characters and the story blend so well in this book. Each compliments the other and makes the book all the better. This author is one I now never fail to pick up and read as I always know I am going to get an amazing story. This is one series I would highly recommend.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I love the idea this book is based on, a true blind date in which to get to know the other person. It feels exciting and intriguing. Add in the characters from this book and it was always going to be an amazing story. I was fully pulled into their story and loved watching them navigate their lives and their relationship. They are so different from each other and yet fit together so well.
This is a new author to me and I loved the approach she took to this book. It was easy to read and yet pulled you in effortlessly. I connected with the characters with ease and really got behind them. I am looking forward to the next book in this series, especially if it is as good as this one.

Together We Stand, Vol. 2Together We Stand, Vol. 2 by C.A. King
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

At first I picked this book up for 2 reasons – one the cause the book was supporting and, two, the fact that C.A. King had contributed to the anthology. Any book with her name on and I will buy no matter what. It was a bonus that I recognised a couple of the other names too.
I am so glad that those reasons pushed me into reading this collection because I was completely taken in by them. The C.A. King book is definitely up there as my favourite. I always have such an affinity for her work and this book was the perfect example as to why! But the other stories all definitely held their own. I liked that they were all different from each other. The issue with anthologies I tend to find is that the books start to merge into one after a while but that was not the case with this one. They each stood their ground and shone through the rest.
I love the fact that this collection is for such a worthy cause as well. For me, it gave such an emotional edge while reading it and I was drawn in all the more. This is a fantastic collection of stories and I would urge everyone to buy it today.

Never Is A Very Long Time (The Perfect Date Book 1) Audiobook by Donna McDonald – Review by Kerry Baker

I thought this was an entertaining and amusing story, with some brilliant characters to back it up. When listening to this book I really connected with the story. I tend to find that books with older female characters are poorly done and I find it hard to connect with them but this author has done an amazing job at making the character so relatable. She is funny, strong, real and I really enjoyed reading about her. She has so much going on and yet she never seems to let it get her down for long. This is a new author to me and I think this was a great book to start with. It is easy to read and a well written story. I will definitely be checking out more from this author in the future.

Ashali and the Blue Horseman by Jordan Elizabeth – Review by Kerry Baker

I found this to be one of those books that surprised me with how good it was. Although the story is fantastic for me this book is all about the characters. They have a strength to standout as individual characters, capturing my interest in them on their own. Combined, together as a duo, they are just the perfect pairing. I thought the author did great at weaving a story full of adventure and sci-fi, keeping it exciting and fast paced. I easily read this book as I was pulled in right from the start. This is a great story that I would definitely recommend.

The Prisoner of Paradise (Painted Souls, #1)The Prisoner of Paradise by Rob Samborn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fantastic fiction story with enough historical detail to make it such an intriguing read. I couldn’t decide how I thought this would turn out right from the moment I started reading so it felt like I was taken on such a journey. The author has managed to pack a lot into this book without it seeming like too much. There is adventure, romance, history and that really felt like only the tip of the iceberg.
This is a new author to me and I loved his writing style. The story was well thought out and cleverly written. He had a way of describing the scenes and portraying the characters that drew me in. I really enjoyed reading this book and can’t wait to start on the second in the series.

I thought the plot development in this book was even better than the first, pushing it into the next level for me. the author pieces together everything so well and it is such an enjoyable read. I would highly recommend this series and I cannot wait for what comes next.

This series is one of those that just gets better with each book and I can never wait to start the next. I was pulled straight into this book with ease and became engrossed by the story I was reading. The characters are what this book is all about, their connection and their journey. I was completely pulled into their journey and wanted to see what the author was going to do with them.
The book was well written, just as I have come to expect from this author. It had a pace to it that matched the story and the characters, taking you, as the reader, along with them. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was such an emotional rollercoaster, in a way I really didn’t expect. I expected just a typical, second chance romance type story but this book was so much more. The complexity of it really drew me in. I loved the development between Josh and Mavis, I found myself rooting for them the whole way through. And yet, I couldn’t quite decide how I thought things might turn out.
I loved the writing style in this book. Everything was so well developed, from the story to the characters. The author seemed to get every part of it right and has left me excited for what is to come next. I can’t wait to read the next instalment of this trilogy.

I knew just from reading the description of this book that the heat and the chemistry between the main characters would be intense. I didn’t realise just how much! Sparks absolutely flew from the page each time they were together. The connection between them completely consumes you and you just get lost in them.
This is one of those books where the storyline almost doesn’t matter because they characters are so captivating but the author has created a brilliant book to match. I loved reading what was going on and really felt like I was part of the journey. This is a hot and steamy story that just blew me away.

I’m not sure exactly what I expected from this series but the book I started reading was not it. This is a rich story, detailed and complex, steeped in mythological history. The illustrations are absolutely magnificent and compliment the book entirely.
The story itself is such an interesting one to read. The author paints such a vivid picture that you can picture it all so clearly. I was so easily lost within the pages, consumed by the story unfolding. This is a fantastic book that I think everyone should read.

Although one of the shorter audio book I have listened to, I found myself pulled in by the story being portrayed. I loved the combination of fantasy and history mixed throughout the book. I was caught up by the narration and could easily picture what was going on.

The story drew me in further the more I listened. I wanted to know how things would work out as it seemed such an impossible situation. I kept hoping that things would work out. This is a great book that I think it worth the listening time.

This one is no exception at all and I loved the entire book. I kept finding reasons to turn it back on again and in no time had finished it.

This author is absolutely fantastic. She has created a series so strong, with a lasting effect, and yet has still managed to retain each individual book’s identity. This book is completely outside of my usual comfort zone but it was something that caught my attention and I had to give it a go. It is the perfect eclectic mix of weird and relatable and it felt like there really was something for everyone within its pages. I really enjoyed the fact that I could dip in an out of this book, reading a poem or 2 here and there. It meant, for me, that it didn’t get old and I engaged with each entry I read.
This is a new author to me as well but I enjoyed the way the poems were constructed. You could tell that a lot of thought and effort had gone into each of them. Although not my usual type of book I would definitely pick up another book by this author.
