Better Gnomes & Gardens (Mysty Haven Mystery Book 1) by Casey Cardel – Review by Kerry Baker

This is an entertaining and fun mystery story about a missing gnome and a quirky journalist. I was immediately engaged by this story and Bob was such a perfectly delightful character. This fun nature really suited the style of this book.

This is a new author to me and I enjoyed the mix of fantasy and mystery they wove through the book. It was a light hearted story for a mystery and that made me enjoy it all the more. This is a good start to a new series and I will be sure to read book 2.

The Magical Summer of Miranda StoneThe Magical Summer of Miranda Stone by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is a fun filled YA fantasy story that I found myself being pulled in by straight away. I loved that the book was set in New Orleans. It felt like the author must have really captured what it is like and I found I could image the scenes with ease.
I really enjoyed the mix of characters in the book. With everything going on within the City I liked how they each added something to the overall story while Miranda still shone as the heroine. This author really knows how to bring a diverse range to her work and this is another success to add to the list.

Stumble & Fall (A Legacy of Silence, #2)Stumble & Fall by Amy Rivers
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

When I started reading this book I didn’t realise it was the second in the series. However, although I can see where the benefit would be in reading this series in order this book definitely stands up on its own. This is a much more emotional and in depth story than I was expecting. It covers some very intense and heart breaking topics but the author handles these effortlessly.
I was pulled into this book and the characters. They had such gripping storylines and I could see the development throughout the book. The first thing I will be doing is to go back and read the first book in this series.

This is an interesting story that offers a well written story line and a myriad of great characters. The book jumps between times which adds a level of detail that wouldn’t be present otherwise. For me this made the story even better and made it much easier to get caught up in.
I loved the mix of characters. Although there were a lot of them, they each added something to the story and were distinct on their own. I thought the combination of personalities and character development worked perfectly for this story. This was a great book and I am pleased to have discovered a new author.

Breathless in Love Audiobook (The Maverick Billionaires Book 1) by Bella Andre & Jennifer Skully – Review by Kerry Baker

This is a great romance story that was perfect to listen to while I was going about my day. This story was easy to engage with and the characters were enjoyable. Both complemented the other. I thought the narration of the book was good too. It was one of those narrations that, while I listened to it, I didn’t hear it because I was so focused on the story.

This is a pretty new author to me and so far I am enjoying her work. The pacing was perfect and the story was well written. This is one audio book that I thoroughly enjoyed and I am looking forward to the next.

The sound of murder
What a fun and entertaining book this is. Ruby is such a great character. I found myself connecting with her immediately. I loved the mystery of the book too. This author is fantastic at creating brilliant stories that all had such a unique feel about them.
For me this book was made even better by the choice of musical – it left me singing the songs to myself and going back to watch the film. It gave me such a feeling of nostalgia and I think helped me to engage even more.
This author is easily one of my favourites and this book will show you why. I would highly recommend it to anyone.

West Side Murder
I really enjoyed being able to read more about the character of Ruby. She is so entertaining. This book can be read as a standalone story although I personally think you should read them in order to get a true feel for the characters.
This book was just as well written as the first, filled with just as much intrigued and mystery. I was hooked on this story as soon as I started reading it and it definitely kept me guessing to the end. This author has such a skill for writing incredible books and this is a perfect example.

Little Shop of Murder
I honestly think Ruby just gets better and better with each story. I am completely captivated by her each time I pick up one of these books and I could read about her for so much longer.
This book is filled with everything I have come to expect, not only from this series but this author. It is well written, thoroughly entertaining and full of mystery. I read this book so fast I was enjoying that much and I am already looking forward to my next book by this author.

The Veil by Wanda Luthman – Review by Kerry Baker

The VeilThe Veil by Wanda Luthman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is an interesting story and not one I would usually read. However, the description intrigued. Not being a particularly religious person, the tearing of the veil isn’t something I was familiar with so enjoyed the telling of this story. Although put forward as a fictional book this is one that definitely steers more towards the religious side. It was a great way to become acquainted with the story, although I would have liked a little more detail on the periphery of fiction.
However, the book is well written and an interesting story. I am definitely pleased I gave it a go. For anyone wanting something with a little more faith then I would highly recommend this book.
