Killer Blonde by Allan Evans – Review by Kerry Baker

Killer BlondeKiller Blonde by Allan Evans
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Killer Blonde by Allan Evans is a fast paced, action packed story. The author has created a book that is full is suspense but also has a lighter side to it so Tom get a bit of everything with this book.
This is the first book that I have read by this author and I have thoroughly enjoyed it. I found it really easy to connect with the main character in his search for the killer. I also enjoyed the way the author described everything – it made it so easy to visualise what was happening.
For me I felt the story slowed down in pace a little in the second half but by that point I was invested in it so it didn’t impact on my enjoyment. This is a great book full of twists and turns. I can’t wait to discover more of this author in the future.

Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Kerry Baker

Hungry Business: A Short StoryHungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Hungry Business: A Short Story by Maria DeBlassie is a well written and detailed story that left me intrigued from start to finish. I loved the lighthearted, conversational tone that the book has – almost like it is is someone recounting their dating experiences in general instead of the twist that is in there. I actually thought it was an amusing read, I was chucking along with some of the descriptions the author used and it is that which drew me in initially.
I enjoyed how open the ending was without it feeling unfinished. This is definitely a book I would love to see as a full length novel – the basis is all there and I think it would be excellent. In lieu of that I would highly recommend this book!

Is This Me? (Being Me Book 1) by Tricia Copeland – Review by Kerry Baker

Is This Me? (Being Me #1)Is This Me? by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Is This Me? by Tricia Copeland is the first book in the Being Me series. For me this book is all about the main character – Amanda – and the emotional journey that she goes through. I thought the author did a great job of portraying the turmoil that the character was going through, so much so that I was drawn into the story and really felt like I was taking the journey with her.
The overall story has a great pace to it. The author has clearly taken the time to develop the characters and give them the extra depth that makes them so enjoyable. She really knew how to engage my interest in the book which I think it why I read this so quickly. This a great, clean, coming of age story that I would certainly recommend you try today.

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Heartbeats and Roses: A Small Town Valentines Day Romance by Jae Dawson is a novel in the Hartwood Holiday Romance series. This book is a sweet and enjoyable story with some really great ideas. The whole premise of the book was fun and lighthearted – I liked everything Rose was trying to do and there were some great ideas there. I had such high expectations from this book after reading the first and unfortunately I didn’t find it to be quite as good. I found these characters a little harder to connect with. However the overall book was definitely enjoyable and worth reading as part of the series. I love the absolutely stunning covers this author seems to have on each of their books – they alone would draw me into the book as they are so striking. The author has a strong writing style and the book had a good pace to it. Although this was not quite what I had hoped for I am still very much looking forward to the next book in the series!

THE BUCCANEERS OF St. FREDERICK ISLAND by LINDA MARIA FRANK – Review by Kerry Baker

The Buccaneers of St. Frederick IslandThe Buccaneers of St. Frederick Island by Linda Maria Frank
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Buccaneers of St Frederick Island by Linda Maria Frank is a fun and humorous tale about a group of young, aspiring detectives who are determined to solve their mystery. This is the first book that I have read by this author and I found it to be highly entertaining. Not only did it have mystery and intrigue but I found it to be much more witty than I expected it would be. I loved the attention to detail in the book. It was things like the authors note at the start that really made this book all the more enjoyable.

Stormy’s Thunder (Satan’s Devils MC Utah #2) by Manda Mellett – Review by Kerry Baker

Stormy's Thunder (Satan's Devils MC Utah #2)Stormy’s Thunder by Manda Mellett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Stormy’s Thunder by Manda Mellett is part of the Satan’s Devils MC Utah Chapter. If this whole series isn’t something you are familiar with then I would highly recommend you rectify that immediately. This is easily one of the best series I have ever read and this book has firmly placed itself within the top, if not at the top.
I always wonder how the author is going to top what she has already done – since it has been so outstanding up to this point – and yet with this book she has proved just how good she really is. I was absolutely riveted by Stormy and his character. He is one of those characters that has so much more to him than you would initially think. He is a character that you will be familiar with if you have read the rest in the series and he is a character that you really don’t think you will like at all. However the author has done an incredible job of not only making him likeable but making it so you completely fall in love with him.
As with the rest of the books this one is so well written – it is fast paced and action packed but is also full of all the little details that make it so good. I cannot wait to see what else this author has in store for us and in the meantime I might just have to go back and read all the previous books again!

Twisted Secrets by Amy McKinley is the first book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops series. This author always delivers a strong story line with some great characters and this book has all the usual hallmarks.
Riley and Xander are interesting characters. They have a depth to them that a lot of characters lack and it all adds to their story. They are the kind of characters that you can’t help but get behind from the get go.

Jordan's Justice: A New Adult Sport Romance (Tessa and Jordan Book 2)Jordan’s Justice: A New Adult Sport Romance by T. Christensen
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jordan’s Justice: A New Adult Sport Romance by T. Christensen is the second book in the Tessa and Jordan series. This is a series that does need to be read in order as it is a continuation of the story about the same characters. In my opinion reading them out of order would hinder your enjoyment of this series – and it is one that is made to be enjoyed!!!
This is an amazing follow up the first book. I really enjoyed connecting with Tessa and Jordan in book one and this book just pulled me in even deeper to their lives. I was desperate to find out how things were going to play out – there was so much history between the two of them!
This book is so emotional – I was on edge most of the way through it as I wasn’t convinced about the direction the author was going to take. I knew how I wanted the book to go but also knew I would be taken on a journey. The book was so well written and the whole series is absolutely amazing. I would definitely recommend both these books to anyone and I thoroughly enjoyed this book, probably even more than the first!
