I enjoyed Hawk and Lottie’s story so much! Rescued from a terrible situation, Lottie finds herself living with other rescued girls at Mrs. Ames house. Lottie meets Hawk, Mrs. Ames grandson. Lottie and Hawk see a broken soul in each other and develop a friendship. With their 7 year age difference can it ever be more? This was such a great story with gear characters. I love that Lottie over comes the hand she was dealt and works so hard to not let her past define her.

Feathers: A Novel is the first book I have read by Kylie Stewart. I have to say, this is my new favorite read of this year. This story started out so heartbreakingly, but ended so heartwarming. Charlotte started her life as no girl should have being sold into slavery, which ultimately made her so strong. Lottie and Hawk’s story was amazingly sweet, but with life’s little frustrations popping up. To watch these two grow into strong well balanced adults was a pleasure to read. I’m hoping that the rest of the girls will get their story told. I highly recommend this book and look forward to reading more by Ms. Stewart

Feathers – A Novel by Kylie Stewart was an raw emotional read, that had me hooked from start to finish.
My first read from this author, and I have to say, I fell hard for the smooth writing style and the embedded emotion that made my heart ache for Lotte.
What an emotional read! Right from the start the author pulls at all our hearts strings. The good, bad, ugly, rage, and pity. This story is a tale of learning how to trust, grow, and learning how to let go and pick up the pieces, after an unimaginable trama. Care was taken and no detail was spared in pulling the reader in, and keeping them engaged.
I will say at first I did have a little bit of a problem with the age difference, and that more so had to do with Lotte being 14 when she was rescued. But my fears were dismissed as I got deeper into the story, and the author made sure not to cross that line. The care that was taken, and the gradual growth and maturing of romantic feelings over the span of 7 years, made the story sweet, deep and almost dream like.
Overall this book, as emotionally raw as it was, was truly a beautiful story of finding light in the darkness. This book gets my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval.

Let me start off by saying wow, what an amazing read!! This book was a very emotional read. Once I started reading I could not put it down until I got to the end, needless to say I had a late night. Charlotte and Hawk are wonderful characters that I couldn’t get enough of. The things that Charlotte had to endure were unthinkable and my heart cried for her. She says she will never trust a man again, but there is something about Hawk that pulls her to him. Hawk who has been thorough a great deal himself and even though there is a connection he feels towards Charlotte, he tries to keep his distance. There is pain, tragedy, unthinkable acts, but there is also passion, attraction, friendship and hope in this extraordinary read. This book offers so much and was so expertly written. I highly recommend this book.

Feathers: A novel by Kylie Stewart is a book that will not only keep you hooked from start to finished but will keep you thinking about it days after you have finished reading. The blurb made it clear that this book would be highly emotional and deep and that is exactly what you get. With a dark edge running through it you are drawn to everything in this book, from the story to the characters. As the reader you really do become so invested in Charlotte and Hawk. They have both been through so much and the author portrays that so well. This is a brilliant read and easily one of the best o have read so far this year. I am looking forward to what else is to come.

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a wonderful, sweet, heart-warming romance that will have you gripped from the very first page right to the very last. I loved everything about this book. Charlotte (Lottie) Waters was only 14 when she got away from the evil group of men who had ‘bought’ her and had been abusing her. She was brought to the home of 21 year old. Hawk McLean whose grandmother gave home to girls who had got away from abusive situations. Immediately Lottie and Hawk were both drawn to one another. Over the years they became very close, with Hawk being the one person that regarded as her saviour. Having been in love with Hawk since she was 14, now an adult, Lottie and Hawk embark on a beautiful relationship. Considering her abusive past, I loved how Lottie was able to allow Hawk in and have a relationship with him. I also adored how sensitive Hawk was to Lottie’s wants and needs. Let’s be honest most guys in their 20’s would be happy to get only 1 thing from Lottie. (Although I do have to admit that the sex scenes in this book are pretty hot!!) Hawk‘s treatment of Lottie was just beautiful. He just worshipped the very ground she walked on. If you are looking for a beautiful heartfelt romance, with the added bonus of hot sex, then this book is perfect.

I just finished reading Feathers, by Kylie Stewart.
So… This book is AMAZING!
My heart hurt so much for Charlotte at the beginning, it was unbelievable. But then you get to follow her life and see firsthand how she learns to trust, hope and love again.
And Hawk plays a big part in her transformation but first they got to go through all the emotions – skepticism, shared looks, understanding, friendship, closeness – and all that leads to love so deep, it makes you ache.
I loved all the characters, even the secondary ones – I would actually love to read their stories right from the beginning through their perspective!
But Charlotte and Hawk share a dynamic that makes you second guess all the previous love stories you’ve read and loved – and I think it’s because Kylie Stewart did such an amazing job setting up a foundation for the couple to build on – it’s almost like you, the reader, got to help them get there.
I really hope you pick this book up – I fully recommend it and will be sharing this book for a while to come!

I really enjoyed this book. It had a powerful start that set the scene for the rest of the book. Although our introduction to Charlotte was harrowing, ultimately this was a story of hope and love. I liked the characters of Lottie and Hawk very much. I thought we were given enough background to appreciate why they behaved the way they did and how they could love with such passion and dedication. I liked the respect Hawk gave to Charlotte when he could have been selfish and the way he flipped between calling her by her full name and his nickname for her. I liked the minor characters too, Melody with her unwavering loyalty to Charlotte and Mrs Ames. I enjoyed the fact that we saw Charlotte go from the Hell of the first few pages to the Heaven of the last, without missing out the everyday struggles in between. I would have liked to see more about Hawk’s mom and what happened to her. Perhaps that is fuel for another story? I await that with baited breath. Overall a great love story, highly recommended.

Honest to God, this book blew me away. I spent the first half of the book sobbing my heart out. Not only did Charlotte go through hell and back but the love that formed between Hawk and her played with my heart. I fell in love with these two characters. Charlotte is a beautiful old soul who is strong and resilient. She had horrible experiences and refused to break. Hawk had a more privileged childhood but had his own issues and was lost. He is patient and compassionate. They gave each other wings which enabled them to fly. The evolution of their relationship was beautiful. Starting with tentative steps towards trust, leading to friendship then unknowingly falling in love.
What a breathtaking story! It was a book filled with pain, betrayal and fear yet at the same time filled with bravery, love and hope. The author did an extraordinary job of bringing this story to life.
“Why are you crying? Did I hurt you?”
“I’m crying because I love you so much it hurts.”
This book not only warmed my heart but touched my soul as well. Thank you Ms. Stewart.

This story!! I still can’t stop thinking about it even after finishing it two days ago! It was such a beautifully, detailed read that I was hooked from beginning to end. This incredibly talented author took me on one of the biggest emotional rollercoasters that I’ve been on for a while. I lived all of the ups and downs with the wonderful characters that she had created. Charlotte and Hawk – these two – I don’t even know how to explain my feelings about them. I cried for them both, especially Charlotte – what an awful time she had but I admired the strength she had to keep going every day. They are both these two wonderful characters who you just desperately want the best for. I became completely 100% invested in their story. This is the first full length novel that I have read by this author having previously read short stories by her in anthologies and this truly was an outstanding read. I cannot wait to read more from her in the future and I am eagerly awaiting the release of ‘Wings’!!

This book starts as tragedy and heartache for a 14 year old Charlotte or Lottie. Suddenly her circumstances change when she goes to live with Mrs. Ames and her grandson Hawk who is in his early 20’s. Hawk is immediately taken by the green eyed beauty and wants to help her heal. Years go by as they both grow up but the attraction remains for both of them. This book is a slow burn but has so much body and substance. The transformation of Lottie growing into an adult is amazing. They also struggle with the age gap. I really enjoyed this book and highly recommend it.

What an absolute fairy tale! I adored this book! Feathers is written by Kylie Stewart and is a standalone, although I would love to hear the other girl’s stories (Hint Hint). Feathers follows a young Charlotte “Lottie” from the time that she was taken by her mother’s boyfriend and sold to ungodly men. There she goes through things that most people would never imagine to a young girl. Then she is sold one more time, to Mrs. Ames. Mrs. Ames was her savior. There she meets Mrs. Ames’ grandson, Hawk McLean. Hawk is 7 years older than Lottie. But for some strange reason, he is drawn to her. In the same token, Lottie is also drawn to him. Throughout the years, Lottie learns to heal and learns to take her life back. Hawk has his own past that he has to deal with and his uncertainty about Lottie. These two get incredibly close throughout the years even though Hawk leaves for his internship and then moves to open a business. But when Lottie is 22 everything falls into place for the both of them and let me tell you, fireworks happen! I love this author and every book that I have read from her is fantastic. This book in particular gives you those wonderful good feelings because these two deserve everything that they received and it would be heartbreaking if it was any different. The characters are wonderful and Lottie is such a strong girl, it kind of makes you proud. I can’t wait to read more from Kylie Stewart!

Feathers by Kylie Stewart gutted me on page one and had moments throughout the book that my heart just broke.
Charlotte hasn’t had the life of a typical fourteen year old girl when we meet her. She is finally somewhere she is safe and secure and that is not the only change to her life.
Hawk is the type of guy any mother would love to have their daughter bring home. He’s so honorable, but there is so much more to him.
I loved what the feathers represent for Charlotte and seeing them pop up from time to time set my heart a racing.
There are some pretty tough situations but if you can get past the discomfort then I think you will enjoy the book.

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a book I absolutely could not put down. I read this book in just a few hours because I HAD to know what was going to happen next.
Charlotte Waters has experienced things no one should ever have to go through. She’s finally safe but vows to never trust another man. She does not expect Hawk McLean to see into her nor does she expect to forge a friendship with him. When Hawk first saw Charlotte, she was just a young teen but he couldn’t look away. He had a desire to know her unlike the other girls his grandmother saved. Charlotte can’t help how she feels about Hawk but he keeps leaving and she thinks it might be time to give up. Does Hawk realize his feelings for Charlotte or are they destined to stay the friends they became?
I absolutely loved this story. I didn’t know what to expect when I started it but I couldn’t put it down. Charlotte experienced so much pain and trauma but she came out the other side and built a life. I loved her resilience. Hawk was really trying to do what he thought was best. You could see his genuine care for Charlotte. This is definitely a five star read!

I read the blurb for this book and passed it over several times before I cracked the binding. Yes, the beginning is dark and horrible and should not be over looked.
This story is a fast read. I read it in about 3 hours and when I looked at the page count, I was surprised to see that it is over 200 pages.
Told in dual POV over a 7 year time span, FEATHERS grabbed me from the very first page to the very last word. It is emotional and moving and light and hopeful – even in the darkness.
I think this is the first book I’ve read by this author and I will absolutely be picking up the novella mentioned at the end of this book.
While I’m not sure I would recommend to my younger cousins, I would recommend if you enjoy New Age/College stories.

Feathers: A Novel by Kylie Stewart is an amazing story with such a journey that has left a mark in my mind and my heart. Charlotte has endured so much in her life, so much pain, loneliness, due to her mothers boyfriend that sold her for drugs. A gang kept her for a year, treating her so horribly and finally she was sold and was able to escape the hell she endured. Being free Charlotte vowed and made a promise to herself to never love a man, and then Hawk comes into her life. They both find trusting each other easy, after both having issues and fears. As time goes by, the passion, the caring, and the trusting builds. But both being jaded, the questions will raise, can they overcome the past to lead to a beautiful future together.
This 5 star read was intense, emotional, dark, and one that I SIMPLY LOVED and did not want to put it down. The journey both take was real and so raw. From the dark subjects, to the passion, to the steamy scenes, I just wanted to stay lost in the land of Hawk and Charlotte. Kylie Stewart really gave us a read that will leave its mark. The characters, the meaning of feathers, the story line simply are SUPERB! I will be waiting and watching for WINGS!!!

Feathers: A Novel By Kylie Stewart. Wow! I seriously wish the word wow could some up my feelings on this incredible book , it doesn’t quite do it justice but it’s the best word I can come up with. From Page one I was completely drawn in to this roller coaster ride of emotions. The characters are complex and relatable while they also grabbed my heart and won’t let go honestly. These characters each have a story to be told and I truly believe it shouldn’t be missed. The author does a wonderful job of writing a story that had me climbing inside and never wanting to leave. Feathers: A Novel by Kylie Stewart was an amazing story that I was not expecting. To be honest, I was not sure what I was thinking was going to happen. This story has taken me on an emotional roller coaster. Charlotte has so much negativity in her life. There was so much pain, trust broken, fear, and anger. Charlotte has really turned her life around has learned that there is a force of good that will help her. She does not need to be alone all the time. Hawk was another broken person. He has built up a wall around him due to his life choices. Charlotte and Hawk get together and try to figure out their lives and can they learn together that they can have a force of good around them.

To trust someone so completely was rare and raw. To live with the scars and still find a love so raw and freeing. During this story I felt every year and ago. I loved that Gran was someone who did what see a painted lips. My only real issue with the story was how Lottie’s character wasn’t developed more. Hawk is an idiot but he is forgiven because he remembers the feathers. Over all I was really excited reading this story. I was sadden and troubled over the beginning. The background was short but it gave you a glimpse of what life she had to get over. I was shocked and sick over the ages some of this girls were when they were taken.

Feathers – A Novel, by Kylie Stewart, was an emotionally raw read. This story is not all roses and fairy tales, but faces the dark, dingy and hard world that exists that we don’t often think of. The way Kylie Stewart wove that into the story was seamless and showcases the authors talent in creating an in depth story with strong emotional draws the reader in. Charlotte’s character is amazing, despite the obstacles and struggles within her life, she finds something to hold on to. I found Charlotte to be multi-dimensional and full of opportunity in this story, to find that the author fully dove into this and outdid herself. The tug and pull in the relationship between Charlotte and Hawk has the reader sitting on the edge of their seat waiting to see the string break and the aftermath that is inevitable. This story includes a cast of characters that are amazing!

Right from the start I was pulled right in. Charlotte was in a living nightmare, she was sold by her mother’s boyfriend and was held captive by a local gang. What they would do to her was heartbreaking. Until one day she finds herself being taken to a home, where a woman has bought her, Mrs. Ames. There might be a girl of only fourteen standing before her, but that girl’s soul was dead.
At first she isn’t sure what to expect but she starts to let her guard down as she gets to know everyone. This is where she also meets Hawk, Mrs. Ames’s grandson.
Hawk sees it all the time, girls being saved by his grandmother. Using him to show them that not all men are bad. When he saw Charlotte the first time he was pulled in by her, she was different than the others. Hawk also has been deeply hurt, wondering why he was abandoned. Would my past strangle me and prove me damaged? – Hawk
Two souls desperate to trust, willing to fall, and hopelessly entwined by a string of fate.
These two end up developing a great connection. Hawk was so good to Charlotte. There is so much more to this great read. Your heart goes out to both of them and what they went through, these two were meant for each other in so many ways. Charlotte was a strong character. All of the secondary characters were great. I liked the ending but would love to see more from these two. I look forward to reading more from Kylie, she pulls you right in with her writing.

This is my first read by this author and I loved it…The storyline was awesome and started out strong and never really let go…It moved fast and didn’t include a lot of unneeded descriptions or filler words..I completely enjoyed the writing style and read this book in one sitting.
Lottie was an amazing young girl that had been through things noone should ever even have to imagine much less go through, and her strength did nothing but grow as the story progressed. One of my favorite characters in this story was Mrs. Ames, everything about her was perfect. Hawk was a young man looking towards a future, watching his grandmother help many broken young girls was something he was used to. He had his own broken past and was not at all prepared for the young broken girl that his grandmother had saved from an awful experience.
The way this story progressed was done perfectly in my opinion. It wasn’t a perfect journey where happily ever after happened immediately, I loved that the story was told in two points of view, that helped in really feeling what was going on.
I will definitely be looking at what else this author has available, I enjoyed every word.

I really liked Lottie and the strength she had as she grew up. She took what negative things happened to her and grew from them, even if they tried to hold her back. I really loved her wish she had at Christmas and how it was thought out throughout the story. And i hope to see more of these characters in more stories!

Feathers by Kylie Stewart is a story that you will find yourself thinking about after you finish it. It is so well written that while reading you felt like you were there, living it with Charlotte “Little Lottie” and Hawk, and because you were living it with them then you keep feeling it in your bones … Kylie has given us two old souls that both carry such burden that at times you were wondering how they were able to function as ‘normal’ as they did … you could clearly see why they were drawn to each other and how Charlotte was able to trust a man – Hawk. You feel for them and you hope that together they would learn how to be free and how to find happiness, even if it takes years! Feathers is an emotional rollercoaster that moves slowly so you are forced to feel deep. I noticed that that there will be Wings novella so I am looking forward to where the journey will take our Charlotte and Hawk!

I loved this book. It is a little dark in places but it is a hard to put down book that I read in one sitting. I loved how it pulled me in from the first word. It took me on an emotional roller coaster that I had to have more of. Charlotte has a dark past which has caused her to put up walls. Hawk is good at hiding his unhappiness behind his cold demerer. Will they be able to break into each other’s hearts? They are great characters with strong chemistry. Their story is a must read.

“I vowed never to trust another man as long as I lived, but Hawk had begun to break down that promise. He was good. Kind. And for the first time, I really believed that everything would be okay.”
Feathers: A Novel is an incredible story by the very talented Kylie Stewart. This story took me on a journey I won’t soon forget, scrambling my emotions along the way. The story has a dark edge to it, especially in the beginning. There is lots of pain, feelings of betrayal, hopelessness, and fear- then some rays of light and sense of hope appear. With plenty of chemistry, angst, passion, and of course romance- this story had me hook right till the end. Charlotte Waters has endured something that no one should ever have to experience, especially a child. She was sold by her drug- addicted mother’s low-life boyfriend- to a gang who kept her captive for a year, treating her deplorably- she was living a nightmare existence- before she was finally ‘brought’ and released from that hell. It’s then that she meets Hawk McLean, who has his own baggage- but who also ignites a spark deep within her. These two develop a connection that transcends all bounds. I really won’t disclose more than that, because it would spoil the story for you, I really recommend diving in, and letting the author and story weave their magic- it’s well worth the read! The story is very emotive- sweeping me through the whole spectrum of emotions- and keeping me on tenterhooks the entire time. I really felt for Lottie and what she had endured. I admired her strength, bravery and resilience- she was so much stronger than she believed. I was rooting for her/them the whole way through. There were some really sweet, tender, and touching scenes- and a whole lot of sizzle. I loved the ‘meaning’ behind the ‘Feathers’, and the fact that fate put these two on a collision course- to teach each other to ‘fly’ . The characters were just superb!! I can’t wait to read ‘Wings’ when it releases!

The story Feathers by Kylie Stewart is an amazing book that I loved reading. It is a story that hooked me in from the very beginning and I found myself lost in its pages. It is a book that had my emotions going up and down right along with the characters. I loved reading about the characters of Charlotte Waters and Hawk McLean. Charlotte is a young woman who has said that she will never trust men again. Her life has shown her the cruelty of others. Then she meets Hawk. Hawk is a man that has had a lot of emotional turmoil in his life. From a young age, he feels the pain of abandonment and unhappiness. Then he meets Charlotte. She finds herself trusting him. He feels that she has an old soul, one that reaches out to him. They both find an attraction to each other. Will they listen to their hearts? Will he keep a distance from her or will Hawk and Charlotte find their way to each other? Read this book to find out. This story has intense and emotional dialogue. I grew to care about the characters of Hawk and Charlotte with each chapter that I read and wanted them to find happiness. There is passion and desire. There are also steamy scenes that make the temperature in the room rise. There are additional characters that are introduced and I enjoyed reading about the part they play in the story and their interactions with Hawk and Charlotte. This is a story that once I started, I didn’t want to put down until I had finished. It is a book I would highly recommend reading.

This is an amazingly good story. It has many highs and lows. I was able to easily follow along and feel the anguish/pain and love of the characters. Hawk and Charlotte each thought they would be alone the rest of their lives because of their pasts. Little did they know all it took was one look and they were already living for their future. This is a story through the years for two with an emphasis on Charlotte’s life and love. I ached for Charlotte as her story started to unfold. The horrors are forever. Will the love of a good man be able to erase her past?
This is my first book by this author. I liked the characters. Hawk can be very expressive and I could feel his feelings near the end of the book. I enjoyed the title and how it’s used in this story.
