The book was a fun read but I was waiting for that one moment that would capture my attention and let me know I could not put the book down! The characters are well developed, and the story line is well written I just wanted more. I dont know if I was hoping for a darker story and got something lighter but I feel like this could have been a 5/5 instead of a 3/5!

He saved her life.
She revived his.
He also taught him what love is.
What would you do if someone dropped an envelope in front of you with $10k and instructions to be followed?
The Kidnapping was surprisingly unexpected. In a good way. I was hooked from the first chapter. It’s been a while since a book has gotten me that quickly. I didn’t want to put it down. The author takes us on a whirlwind adventure. One that just when you think it’s over, boom not quite. The way the author wrote the two main characters they are both easy to love for their own reasons. Plus the growth throughout is beautiful.
Andy and Jenna had no idea they’d cross paths, or that it would change their lives forever.
Jenna is lonely in life. Proof that money can’t buy everything. All people want her for is what she can give them, the things she could buy. And she’s just sick of it all. Ending up at a dive bar on the other side of town gives her a chance to let go and unwind.
Andy is moping through life. Having suffered great loss and numbingly starting over. Frequents the same dive bar. Fortunately for him, one day a lady gave him an envelope with $10k and instructions on who and how to kidnap someone. That someone being Jenna. So what does he do? He decides to meet her and tell her.
Instant connection, instant chemistry that they both choose to ignore. Though Jenna’s plan could throw a wrench in that. She wants to stay with Andy, and figures it’s the best way to keep her safe. That is till they figure out what to do about the letter. There’s strong connections that her ex-fiance Steve has his hands all over this mess.
So come join us, for an unexpected rollercoaster, lots of romance, lots of awkward holding back. While these two navigate their new situation.
Do they figure it out?
Does Andy keep Jenna safe?
A book that was a lot lighter than I expected, will keep one interested for hours. Check it out!

Linda Burson is a new-to-me author but not for long as I will be looking for more of her books. I love her writing style!

Jenna has recently left her fiancé Steve. All he wanted was her money but she wanted so much more. Jenna starts scoping out new hangouts and finds a bar where no one really knows who she is or how much money she has. She’s sworn off men but then Andy walks in the bar. Andy’s minding his own business but finds Jenna to be an interesting and slightly attractive woman. Jenna reciprocates the feelings. It’s when Andy is handed an envelope that things start to change for these two strangers. Inside the envelope is a note with a significant amount of cash. Andy has to make a decision as to what to do with this envelope and the knowledge that he now has.

This is the where they mystery begins. I’ll not ruin anything but the reader will be in for a pretty wild ride with these two and this envelope.

This was a sweet romance. Jenna Ladson is a wealthy woman who has learned that most people are only interested in her for her money. She breaks up with her fiance Steven after he cheats on her. Even so, she can hardly believe that he would set up a fake kidnapping. Thankfully, Andy Porter accidentally intercepted the instructions for her kidnapper. Andy has his own struggles. As they get to know each other, they fall in love. I enjoyed the resolution of the kidnapping with the action at the end of the book. It was a sweet story and a pleasant read.

The Kidnapping is a suspenseful book by Linda Burson. What happens when you are so wealthy that you do not know whom you can trust? Jenna meets Andy under unusual circumstances and quickly learns whom she can trust or can’t. The story is a romantic suspense that has a few unexpected twists and turns. I enjoyed watching how Jenna and Andy learn to trust one another. Their tension gets a bit intense but then turns into something entirely different. The story is well thought out and focuses on several characters. I will not give clues about the plot because I don’t want to wreck the story for anyone. If you like romance and suspense pick up this book. I look forward to reading more from this author soon.

This romantic suspense had an original and intriguing storyline which had me hooked from the start. I was kept gripped by this story as it was full of twists and turns, which made it impossible to predict the outcome for the characters. Andy and Jenna are strangers until they meet due to a kidnapping plan. Andy is mistakenly given instructions and money for a kidnapping, by would be kidnappers, Steven and his unknown cohorts. Finding himself in this unusual predicament Andy decides to find the potential victim, Jenna, to alert her. However, his plan of just finding her and telling her goes awry when he meets Jenna, and instantly feels a connection to her. As he becomes infatuated with her, Jenna must decide what to do with this worrying information, and whether she can trust Andy. I loved the main characters, Andy and Jenna and how their relationship changed and developed throughout the story, it was a real slow burn romance. The plot was full of drama, suspense, and of course romance, but it also had humour, all of which made this a real page turner of a novel.

This was such a good book with a very unique plot line. I have to say that it had so many twists and turns that I did not see coming. I truly enjoyed the character of Jenna and I felt that she was very well developed. The author did a great job explaining why Jenna is leary of trusting people and is even more distraught to discover she might have been duped again.
I think Andy was an even better character. I loved the amount of depth there was to him. I also loved how he always was trying his best to do the right thing.
Jenna and Andy’s circumstances were less than ideal but their banter was something I truly loved. I definitely loved this book and read it in less than one day. I didn’t like whenever I had to put it down. It was one that you will want to keep reading to find out what will happen next.
I definitely recommend this book!

I really enjoyed this romantic Suspense story. The author does an amazing job with the characters and the humour and connection between them is great. I loved how they seem to be opposites but both have insecurities and worries about the other person and what they will think. Watching the characters blossom and slowly learn to trust was a beautiful thing.

This a definately a chance romance. When Andy is sitting at a bar and get handed an envelope of cash and a letter for containing instructions to kidnap a woman.
Knowing this wasn’t meant for him Andy decides to find the woman and warn her. What follows is a journey as two strangers need to learn how to trust one another while at the same time saving themselves from danger.

However it’s not that simple. Jenna is a strong independent woman who doesn’t trust easily. Everyone she knows is just after her money so when she finds herself falling for a stranger she needs to work out if its really her that he wants or her money.

This is a entertaining story with a kidnap plot that makes you laugh. The twists and turns keep you gripped as Andy and Jenna navigate their situation and budding romance.

Most of us will never know what it’s like to be so wealthy you cannot trust a soul, even your own fiancé. Fate stepped in for Jena one night as her fiancé’s plan to prove his love for her starts to unfold with the wrong man getting a note and envelope. Andrew was comfortable with his routine and life he built but he would never think a girl like Jena would end up in his life. Love proves you don’t have to know someone for very long before you fall for them, even if the circumstances are less than ideal. Romance is a strong theme throughout the book and was written beautifully.

Very relatable book, but takes it to another extreme level. Rage is about a woman who has been through a lot lately and can’t seem to figure out why she is so mad and why she is pushing away everyone who loves her. But when a mysterious man comes into her life that understands the new woman she has become, will she ever go back? Or is this just the new her? This book is interesting, filled with romance, and very enticing. Read it if you like strong emotions, some action, and being kept on the edge of your seat.

The Kidnapping by Linda Burson. This is such a funny romantic suspense read. Its the story of Jenna and Andy. When Jenna meets Andy in a local bar they hit it off and soon a romance sparks. Jenna has not had good luck with guys because she has money and that’s usually all they want. Her last boyfriend wanted her to put his name on her bank account but thank God the red flags flew and she didn’t. Things with Andy are going pretty good and then someone leaves a envelope full of money and the instructions to kidnap someone. Andy tries to track the person down to tell them they have the wrong person but he can’t find them. What happens next is a crazy, fast paced thriller. Rage is the first book in the Marcy Series (Audiobook) and is a Romance Suspense that will have you glued to you seat as the narrator takes us on quite the ride. This narrator did a wonderful job of bringing the characters to life and keeping my attention. I enjoyed how the different tones  made it feel suspenseful and you got the sense of the tension in certain parts. I’ve read this book but I definitely liked the Audiobook better.  I got pulled in from the beginning and couldn’t stop listening.  At times I found myself holding breath has the tension and suspense built up. This story is about Marcy she’s a independent woman whose live is a bit crazy and she finds herself in situations  and each one gets a bit more complicated than the last.    I highly recommend listening to this fast paced story to find out what happens next. I look forward to listening to more from this Author.

Be prepared for this funny romantic suspense story. Jenna has left her boyfriend and has decided to try out a different bar. Back story is Jenna has money and all of her previous boyfriends just want her money. Including Steve, her last one. Although he kept bugging her to add his name to her bank account. He hit the red flag and she was over him.Andy is minding his own business when a girl walks in and puts an envelope in his lap. Shocked, he tried to catch up with her, but she was gone. In that envelope he found a few thousand dollars and a note. That’s it, no spoilers. This is one you will need to read to believe it. This author has done it once again. Kept me up all night reading her book. But so worth the adventure, intrigue and suspense. The story is well written and fast paced. She got me on page two and I was off. Her main characters are just plain everyday people caught up in the kidnapping. I have read books from this author and never second guess buying her books. I hope you enjoy it as much as I have.

Rage (Marcy Series Book 1) Audiobook by Linda Burson – Review by Amanda Glaspie

This was an intriguing listen. Marcy who owns her own business has recently developed an uncontrollable rage that starts to effect her life. This leads to issues with her boyfriend Brad and befriending Liam a vigilanty. The story has a weird plot that at times didn’t make sense and was hard to follow but ultimately all made sense in the end. I did find myself getting frustrated with Marcy by allowing such toxic men to be part and control so much of her life. The ending was a surprise albeit a little off the wall; maybe book two in the series will help things make more sense.

Rage (Marcy Series Book 1) Audiobook by Linda Burson – Review by Cindy Mayberry

Only one word to start this review off, WOW! This is a great start to this series. Marcy is extremely independent and strong. Finding herself in a store robbery, her anger gets the best of her. As she gives the robber a beat down. Okay I had to laugh at the fact she just responded so quickly that the people around her were stunned, including the man at the register. But when her boyfriend and employees insist she get counseling for her anger issues. She decides to go as she knows she is angry but does not know why. Then in walks Liam who needs Marcys help in making mends against the people who killed his family. That’s it! No Spoilers! I have read many of this author’s books, and she never disappoints. Marcy is definitely strong and independent, Liam is seeking Marcys help and Brad, the long time boyfriend, is wanting to keep Marcy close. I love the characters in this story and am looking forward to seeing where this series goes next.

The Kidnapping by Linda Burson is such a fun romantic suspense story that had my attention right from the beginning. It is wonderfully woven with humour, wit, mystery, drama, intrigue, agendas, secrets, and danger.
Jenna and Andy find themselves at opposite ends of a kidnapping plot, and this is where things go a little awry. Neither could have predicted how things would develop- and what ensues makes for a very entertaining read.
I have read many of Ms. Burson’s books now and have loved them all, so when I saw this pop up on my recommended book list, I didn’t hesitate to pick up a copy to explore.
As expected from Ms. Burson, this story is really well written- with just the right amount of tension and intrigue to get you turning the pages to find out what happens. The witty humour added an extra element fun into the story, making for a highly entertaining story.
Looking forward to seeing what Ms. Burson has planned next!

Linda Burson, a native of Pennsylvania, but long time Connecticut resident, has been writing ever since she was given a writing assignment in school, at the age of eight. Later, as a teenager, she started out writing memoirs and attempted several nonfiction pieces.

After attending college studying English, Psychology, and Business Law, Linda worked in positions where she wrote and edited papers for others. She spent time pursuing other interests, and traveling. Much of Linda’s free time was spent reading mysteries, romance, and women’s contemporary fiction novels.

After several attempts at writing nonfiction, but having life get in the way, she put her passion on hold again. She gave up writing to focus on raising her daughters, being a wife, running her own businesses and taking care of her dog, a Lhasa Apso named Nathan.

After a serious bout of breast cancer, Linda eventually closed her business after fifteen years. She decided it was time to attempt writing again. This time, however, with nothing to distract her, she decided on tackling fiction, a contemporary, commercial romance with a dark edge.

On January 1, 2013, she sat down with her laptop and started writing the first chapter. After a few more chapters, she realized the story wasn’t near complete. Before she was aware of it, her idea of a single book turned into a trilogy, which turned into a much longer series called the MARCY SERIES. There are a total of thirteen books in the series. Most of the series were published by a small publishing house. After the publishing house closed, Linda re-edited the series, gave the novels new covers, and self-published them.

When asked about inspiration, Linda has this to say: “Nobody really inspired me to write, but I do remember my mother and father always saying ‘anything you put your mind to you can accomplish. Don’t ever let anyone tell you, you can’t do something.’ Having the support and encouragement of my family is also important.”

Linda has also published a standalone murder mystery novel entitled, Murder Among Friends, a romantic suspense novel called, The Colors of my Life, and a short story as a part of a five-story anthology with other authors called Where There’s Murder, There’s Mystery. This book hooks you from page one.  You are instantly drawn into the world of Cammie and want to know everything right away. It very much has classic TV drama vibes and I could easily see this being made into a Lifetime Movie. Definitely a page turner that makes you want to continue reading with no regard to the outside world.  There are twists and turns in every chapter and just when you think you have it figured out, another twist smacks you in the face.  I really hope that Ms. Burson continues writing Cammie and Grant’s story because there is so much more to be told with these two characters.
