The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe – Review by Bobbi Wagner

The Memory of UsThe Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a second chance-boy next door romance book that I loved. The author’s writing style is easy flowing and the characters are well developed, strong and loved their chemistry. The author pulled me in right from the beginning and I couldn’t put it down until the end. Elena left years before but now she is back to take care of her mother’s passing. Weston is the boy she left behind. If she walks away again will the be a bigger cost? Their story is a must read!

The Memory of Us

5 out of 5 stars

The story The Memory of Us by Lisa Sorbe is a new adult romance book. It is a story that takes you on an emotional rollercoaster and doesn’t let you go until the final page. I loved reading about the character of Elena Everhart. She is a woman who is a successful lawyer. She is someone who keeps her relationships at an arm’s length. When she returns home to take care of the aftermath of her mother’s death, she believes that she will be finished quickly. That she will then be leaving the past behind her. And then she sees Weston Brooks again. Her and Weston had a special and strong bond when children. She left him once in order to save her heart and to pave a future for herself. Now she finds that the attraction and feelings for Weston are still there. Elena tries to keep her distance. Will she be able to leave again? What does the future hold for Elena and Weston? Read this story to find out. This is a story about the power of memories, friendship, love, and loss. There were moments that my eyes were misty and others when the story had me smiling. I had empathy for Elena and what she was feeling. Both she and Weston are characters that I grew to love more and more with each chapter that I read. I could feel the push and pull going on between them and I wanted them to find happiness. This is a story that I would highly recommend reading.

When Elena Everhart returns to her hometown in Minnesota to deal with the aftermath of her mother’s death, the first person she runs into is the last one she wants to see. Then again, she always did have a hard time avoiding the boy next door. Only now, Weston Brooks is all man. Escaping the past to save the present worked for Elena once. Now a successful attorney in Phoenix, going back to Wolf Lake is more of a nuisance than anything. She figures it’ll be a quick trip, and then her ties with the past will finally be cut. But once she arrives, the ghosts in the old house become too much to bear, and the strength Elena prides herself in…snaps.
And there’s only one person left to lean on when she breaks. Elena knows the decision she made all those years ago was the right one. She walked away from Weston Brooks once, breaking his heart so she could save her own. The only question is…can she do it again? And at what cost?

Beneath the Shine (A Prairie Tale Series Book #3) by Lisa Sorbe – Review by Angela Hayes

Beneath the Shine (A Prairie Tale #3)Beneath the Shine by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beneath the Shine is the third book in A Prairie Tale Series by Lisa Sorbe. This book comes in as number three in this series of standalones. The other two books ‘One Fluttering Heartbeat” book #1, and “Found in Silence” book #2, are both wonderful stories too, so if you haven’t read them yet, you will most probably decide that you really want to get your hands on them, especially after reading this one.
Betsy has what most would consider to be a great life, but her reality is far from perfect. She is really just going through the motions of life, putting on a ‘shine’ for the world to see- when she has actually been quite lost for a long time. She keeps a secret that she has never revealed to anyone- the memory of which plagues her days and haunts her nights- never letting her fully embrace life. I was very quickly emotionally invested in the outcome of Betsy’s story and rooting for her the whole way through. Adair is her good friend, and there is a lot more to him than my first impression. I really grew to love him as a character as well. I really didn’t like Clint at all, the whole way through till the last few chapters when he redeemed himself in my eyes. Her family are just awful, I wanted to abduct her and adopt her into my family. Such horrible people. But I guess the fact that I felt so strongly about fictional characters is just another testament to Ms. Sorbe’s supreme writing skills.
I found this story to be a little heavier in content and more emotional than the first two. Maybe because I could personally relate to what Betsy had been through. As the story unfolded, transitioning from past to present to help fill in the backstory, my heart broke for what Betsy had been forced to endure. I really wanted to hug her so badly. But there was so much more to this superb friends to lovers romance story- and I really enjoyed watching the characters growth and development over the course of the story. It was a little slow to get going, but once the pace picked up the story really took off.
I really can’t wait to see what the author does next!

Thank you, Ms. Sorbe!

Beneath the Shine (A Prairie Tale #3)Beneath the Shine by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Beneath the Shine (Prairie Tales Book 3) by Lisa Sorbe is a contemporary romance. It was a little slow to warm up to but hang in there because it gets good and you find that you can’t put it down. Lisa writes well and makes you feel connected to the characters and takes you on an emotional ride. They are real and oh so raw. The story of our female lead was heartbreaking and I enjoyed watching her grow and finally come out the other side finally at peace. Of course there is a best friend that helps along the way with some love and understanding and laughs.

All in all a story that is worth the read.

Beneath the Shine (A Prairie Tale #3)Beneath the Shine by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Beneath the Shine is the third book in Lisa Sorbe’s Prairie Tale series and it was a long time coming! I loved the first two books and the third one did not let me down either! You can read it as a standalone but it is always a pleasure to encounter the characters you recognize from the previous books so I warmly recommend to read the first two books (and they are fantastic in their own rights so you are making yourself a disservice not reading them!)
Beneath the Shine is the story of Betsy and Adair. The story takes you on a journey, a slow journey (but not a boring one, slow does not mean boring) of finding one’s way from devastating event that has overshadowed one’s life since childhood to recognizing that one is worth so much more … There are demons, right, but there is also being the best friends ever, being there for each other, and there is also love and passion … It is also a story of daring finally to go outside the little box that one has put themselves and their life into and seeing that it was not too crazy to dream …
The way the writer tells the story, it sort of sooths you and you do not even realize that hours have gone by while journeying along Betsy and Adair. I am really curious to see who is next in the line for their story!

Found in Silence (A Prairie Tale #2) by Lisa Sorbe – Review by Jenni Bishop

Found in Silence (A Prairie Tale #2)Found in Silence by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Found in Silence is the second book in the A Prairie Tale series by Lisa Sorbe and it is a beautiful touching story. It made me smile and laugh and cringe in disgust and anger, as I was taken on journey of pain and rediscovery for our main character. Lisa has done a wonderful job of immersing us into a world in which she created with her writing skills, which lead to sympathy and understanding for a sad and lonely woman.

When everything she ever wanted was taken away from her, when everything she ever knew was taken away from her it turned her into a cold hearted, self-absorbed, bitter woman. When faced with a task, she doesn’t want to do, who knew it would lead her on a road, she never thought possible.

Are people bitter by nature or has something so profound happened to make them that way? Can bitter people change if given the right circumstances or do they not care enough? To discover the answers to these questions, you really really need take the plunge and read this great story, to look into the heart and soul of the one who matters.

The characters are so full of heart you want to keep reading more of their story. I hope to read and learn more of the other characters in this story from Lisa.

One Fluttering Heartbeat (A Prairie Tale #1) by Lisa Sorbe – Review by Jenni Bishop

One Fluttering Heartbeat (A Prairie Tale #1)One Fluttering Heartbeat by Lisa Sorbe
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One Fluttering Heartbeat is book one in the A Prairie Tale series by Lisa Sorbe and a sweet and heartfelt story. It’s about trying to find happiness and moving on from loss. Trying to find yourself after you no longer know who you truly are after being half of a whole. It’s about loving yourself and giving yourself permission to live again. Lisa has written a beautiful story that you will enjoy right to the end and the emotions evoked from this story with tug at your heartstrings.

Elise’s life has been on hold, she doesn’t know how to move on, she doesn’t know what to feel. Her friend June is getting married, so she returns to her hometown with the hope of starting over, of finding herself again and re-evaluating the life she had and what she wants now. What she needs to do for herself but that is easier said than done when someone from your past maybe the one thing you shouldn’t have.

I loved the characters and the story line was well written and I enjoyed watching our main character grow and rediscover herself. This is one read you need to put on your list.
