Red’s Peril Part 1: The making of an MC Prez (Satan’s Devils MC Vegas Chapter) by Manda Mellett – Review by Liz Vrchota

Red's Peril Part 1: The Making of an MC Prez (Satan's Devils MC Vegas #1)Red’s Peril Part 1: The Making of an MC Prez by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

As a regular reader of Ms. Mellett’s Satan’s Devil’s novels I was really excited to see that Red was finally getting his own novels and we were getting his full story. I will start by saying these books should not be read as standalones and you should be warned this sucker ends on a pretty hefty cliffy so you will be dying for book two pretty much the second the book ends. I know I was and am very ready to get my hands on the next one to find out if Red will get that happily ever after I so want him to finally have. He deserves it, he is such a sweetheart and has the hugest heart of gold. I really love him. This book really does dive into his whole history and I loved how Mellet built him up and showed us what makes him who he really is and why he is where he is today. I look forward to book two and am so excited it won’t be too long of a wait till we get our hands on it.

Ashes of Aldyr (The Obscured Throne Trilogy Book 1) by Russell Archey – Review by Liz Vrchota

Ashes of AldyrAshes of Aldyr by Russell Archey
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

This book was interesting… I wasn’t quite sure what I was going to get into with it because I have never read anything by Russell Archey prior but I was intrigued by the cover, synopsis, and a few teasers so I decided with spooky season and whatnot to give it a go. This novel definitely has the dark undertones to set the mood and really builds the worlds beautifully. I will say the skill set there is strong for Mr. Archey. I did however struggle with the layout of the storytelling overall. I just had a difficulty with the way things flowed and couldn’t get into a groove that I wanted to find and look for often with my reading. I think that is something I often fear with fantasy type novels and this one unfortunately fell into that rut for me. However, the world building, the imagination and the time obviously spent in developing the characters and the background was ever prevalent and kept me reading until the end at the least. I would say I would be interested in seeing what book two holds and seeing if things flow a bit smoother for me in reading that one. I enjoyed the darkness that kept me on my toes and intrigued as well. Not bad for a new author to me and what seems to be a newer author in general so I will give it a solid three and a half stars.

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour) by Victoria Zak – Review by Liz Vrchota

Rock Me To The Top (Gracefall: Vicious Love Tour Book One)Rock Me To The Top by Victoria Zak
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is not your typical rockstar romance read, and I floved every moment of it. I don’t know why I haven’t read Victoria Zak before this but it won’t be my last time that is for sure. This book built all the feels and so very perfectly. I was invested in the characters from the very beginning and rooted for them to find that happily ever after the whole time. I found myself really just wanting to dive right into my kindle and hold them several times. I loved that this book did a wonderful job of telling the story without all the extras as well. Ms. Zak did a wonderful job of keeping things simple without too simple if that makes any sense. I knew where these two came from and where they were going and I knew that they belonged together no matter what. The journey of how they got there was the main focus and that my friends was the gorgeous beauty in the reading that took place in this book. I cannot wait to see what will come next as it looks like this is just the beginning of a wonderful new series from Ms. Zak!

Death under Palm Trees (A Jack and Frances mystery Book 4) by Carmen Radtke – Review by Liz Vrchota

Death under Palm TreesDeath under Palm Trees by Carmen Radtke
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This fourth installment of A Jack and Frances Mystery was just as exciting and just as much of a cozy good mysterious good time as the previous three before it if not more so! I have really loved following these two along on their adventures through time and all the mysteries they seem to find themselves in. In Death under Palm Trees we find Jack in Frances in Nice, in 1931, with a whole new mystery. I even spotted some characters from a previous book that I loved and returned for a hello so that was fun! The world building will make you feel as if you are right there with them too! The characters are really great but they build over the series so I would recommend that you read the books in order for the best enjoyment of the novels. I can’t wait to see what we will get next!

Kingdom of Embers (Kingdom Journals #1)Kingdom of Embers by Tricia Copeland
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have loved just about everything I have picked up from Tricia Copeland in the past so when I saw the gorgeous cover from Kingdom of Embers and the synopsis it was a no-brainer one-click for me. I was thrilled with my decision too! This was quite the read and I was so excited this is the beginning of a new to me series that I get to dive into! The mix of the witch and vampire worlds as well as other layers of paranormal twists really kept me on my toes and engrossed as I read and totally glued to my kindle. I could barely put this down. I just had to know how things were going to play out for the main lead, Alena. I will say I didn’t quite see that cliffy coming but I can totally handle it because book two is available now, Kingdom of Darkness, and I am going to scoop that up as soon as I finish typing this up!

I really enjoyed this third installment in the Titanian Chronicles from Victoria Saccenti. I have been following and reading from the beginning, which I recommend you also do to get the full enjoyment and understanding out of the novels, and these are some wildly vivid and detailed books that bring to life a world that always makes me feel as if I am whisked away and to magic and lore and mystery that I never want to leave. I really enjoy the way Ms. Saccenti builds her characters up and makes them so believable and relatable. I always find myself wanting to connect with them personally whether it be to to hug them or strangle them lol. I look forward to seeing what will come next!

Cursed Luck (Broderick Coven, #5)Cursed Luck by A.J. Renee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

AJ Renee has done it again with her 5th book in the Broderick Coven series, Cursed Luck! I love a good witchy paranormal read and never ever have to worry when it comes to picking up one of these novels. This was no exception to the rule and I fell in love fast with Edward and Mia. I really enjoyed these two and the way their romance developed throughout the adventure of the story. Renee does a wonderful job of building her stories with layers and amazing details that bring to life this world that I just want to jump right into every time. I would personally recommend that you start at the beginning of the series and enjoy each of the books in order for the fullest enjoyment possible, but you could if you wanted read these as standalones. I sure hope that there are many more to come in this series and I can’t wait to see what we will get with each one!

Fool Me TwiceFool Me Twice by Glede Browne Kabongo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

If you haven’t read any of Glede Browne Kabongo’s thrillers before, DON’T wait to get your hands on this read! I personally love a book that will grab my attention and throw my mind for a proverbial loup and this woman does it to me every single time. She has quickly become one of my favorites when it comes to thriller crime novels and I just can’t get enough. As soon as I saw that there was a new one available from her I knew I had to clear an afternoon and snag it because you won’t be able to put these down just like the title suggests. The twists and turns are so frequent that just when you think you get to a stopping point to say cook supper or adult at all you are at another and you suddenly are sucked right back into the chaos and can’t tear yourself away. Needless to say it was a pizza and movie night for the kiddos around my house for this one. NOT SORRY. This book had me in my feels too. I was empathizing with Shelby and her family but I also was wondering if she maybe had it all coming to her too? That is the beauty of the writing of Ms. Kabongo. I can’t wait to see what will come next from her and may just have to re-read this one to hold me over in the meantime!

Engaño (DeWitt Agency Adventures, #2)Engaño by Lance Charnes
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second thrilling installment in THe Dewitt Agency Adventures series from Lance Charnes. I did find this one a tad difficult to get into at first because it was a touch on the slow side for the take off. It was detailed and hard to get through the set up but once I got through that and we were off on the adventure and the drama took off this book had me absolutely hooked and I could not put it down until I found out how things would work out for our MC. One thing I really love about this book is how much the main character, Carson, is a badass woman. She really is a strong female lead and I loved how that came across and flowed throughout the story. It made me really love her and the book that much more. The world building made me feel as if I was parting right there in the gorgeous coasts of Spain with her and I loved every moment that I held my breath while she made her way through the suspenseful moments. I look forward to seeing what will come next!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was quite the thrilling crime read from Valerie Davisson. Something I have come to expect and love about the Logan McKenna Mystery Books. Whisper Creek is the seventh book in the series, but I would think you would be okay if you didn’t read the previous stories however, these do get better and better as they go and build on character development and storylines so I would personally recommend that you start from the beginning to get the most out of your reading experience. In this one we find Logan smack dab in the middle of another mind bending mystery and murder plot that will leave you guessing right up until the end who did it and if she will be able to come out unscathed and the ones she loves as well. This book is absolutely hands down one of my top five favorite reads of 2021! Now that isn’t easy considering this is the 150th book I have read and reviewed this year alone. This book is absolutely amazing. I was swept away to a timeless feel of love story romance that made me want to watch all my favorite old movies again when this book was done. It just exudes that nostalgia and that is just the world building and the character presence yall. The love story will blow your mind. These two, Phillip and Kat, will make you want to be them, or find a love like theirs or hope your love is like theirs. I am so excited to get my hands on book two and will be waiting for it like its rare gold. I wouldn’t wait to run and grab your copy now!

The Book of Carraig is the second book in The Cross of Ciaran series from Andrea Matthews, and I would very much recommend that you read the first book in the series before diving into this one. You will find yourself in a much better understanding of what is going on as this book picks up about a year after the first with the same main character, Ciarán returning home to Ireland. I really enjoyed this one and the attention to details was just as beautiful and vivid making the story even more enjoyable. I look forward to seeing what will come next!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really have fallen in love with Hazel Storm’s writing while reading her, HER THREE IMMORTALS series. When THE BOW hit my kindle I immediately cleared my schedule for the evening and dove right on it. I knew this book would consume me much like the previous two and boy did it ever! I am so freaking excited to report that this is NOT the last book like I was terrified (no seriously I was going to ugly cry if these characters were going to be done!) it was going to be, but instead we will get another book in November of this year! Yay! Happy dance!! Now back to business! These books definitely need to be read in order as they really do progress from one to the other, and this one picks up from book two. We find Vanessa facing a task from the Queen that is not going to be easy to complete and she certainly ends up in quite the predicament. I honestly can’t even begin to fathom sharing any more details but you must run not walk and get this now! Download the whole series! I can’t wait to find out what happens in the next book!

Forever: A Diamond Doms NovelForever: A Diamond Doms Novel by Ivy Nelson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Whew, this was one hot and steamy ride through the BDSM world. I really enjoyed this read even though I probably started a bit later than I should have and will need to go back and start at the beginning to really get to know the club and the rest of the gang because I don’t want to miss the goodies that are in those books I am sure. I enjoyed that there was plenty of action and adventure that kept me on my toes as well as the romance so I was never once at a lull while reading and actually found myself reading this book in one sitting. I was pleasantly surprised with how well Ms. Nelson wrote the world of BDSM, I have only once before read her work and again I can tell she really has a knack and an eye for the details and that is a talent to really treasure in this particular genre when writing. I will definitely be back to see what she may release next!

Seelie Kay really brought the suspense in book two of the Donovan Trait series, Ye Gods! The Law is an Ass! I would personally recommend that you read the first book before diving into this one as it really is a continuation and we get everything set up in that one, besides it is fab as well! This one we find Donovan and his wife in all sorts of shenanigans as they simply want to begin a life together and start a family… of course that is not going to be an easy task given the genetics at play. When vampire nuns are introduced things become even more crazy but keeps the things fun and interesting to say the least! I look forward to seeing what the next book will bring!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay this is a difficult one simply because I don’t know where to start with how much I loved this book. I really enjoy all the genres that are touched on in this book but really this one is one to pick up right now for the spooky season we just entered and I bet you will find yourself loving it for so many more reasons as well! Weep, Woman, Weep may have that deep connection to La Llorona and the deep rooted folklore that goes into it but it also has a wonderful underlying story full of a strong woman’s voice and how she goes about finding that. I really loved the components and how well this book came together. You could tell as you read this was a blood sweat and tears novel that had hours and hours poured into it by Ms. DeBlassie. It shows and pays off from the gorgeous cover to the very last words. I can’t wait to possess a hardcopy to read time and again. This is one I will devour over and over again as I am sure you will want to when you finish!

Dating the It GuyDating the It Guy by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really love the way Krysten Lindsay Hager makes me fall in love with young adult novels all over again every time I pick up one of her books. This book really captured the teen angst and emotions that we feel when we are traversing the world of dating. I especially love how she makes it relatable whether you are young or old, the emotions are the same and we often have the same difficulties determining the way to handle them. In Dating the IT Guy we get to see this play out very real and raw and in your face and I loved every moment of it. I was once again taken away to a time when life seemed so hard at the time but I know for a fact I would go back to the way things were, so simple and so minute in the grand scheme of things. I enjoyed this one and look forward to seeing what will come next form Ms. Hager.

Saratoga RoanSaratoga Roan by Bree M. Lewandowski
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Oh my this was so, so, so, good! I really enjoy just about everything that I have read from Ms. Lewandowski so when I saw the gorgeous teasers from Saratoga Roan on my feed I knew without a doubt that I needed this story in my life ASAP, so I one-clicked and dove right on it without a single hesitation. I was instantly swept away by this second chance love story and very real and raw portrayal of what it is like to live and survive the trials of watching someone we love and care for deteriorate before our eyes as well. Almost a reverse love story as well. As children we grow up and with a veil over our eyes shielding us from the pain that will come when our parents will inevitably be older and someday no longer be who they once were. In this case we see Rhett’s struggle with his father and Alzheimer’s, a devastating condition that had to be difficult to write about but Lewandowski did with such grace and a passion that was evident with every word. I was numbed with sadness and yet soothed with the romance that was at play too. This is a book that you don’t want to miss and one that I would be happy to re-read for sure. I can’t wait to see what will come next from Bree M. Lewandowski!

Stand Your GroundStand Your Ground by A.J. Ullman
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

One of my favorite things about reading crime novels is that they often can be very believable and immersible if they are written well. Stand Your Ground by AJ Ullman just happens to be one of the best written crime thrillers that I have read in a long time and it is so believable and relatable to the time that we are all living in that I felt so transported I almost expected to turn on the news and see this crime and the characters on the tv. It was gripping and breathtaking at times how real it felt and I loved every single moment of it. I will be reading this novel again and recommending it to several friends and family members who I know will also be loving this story just as much. Ullman has done a fabulous job of taking a difficult topic, well several, and molded them with deep story lines and well formed characters that are strong and believable that you will be unsure who to root for and who to fall in love with at times. I can’t say enough good things about this book. Go one-click today, you won’t be sad you did!

Boom, pretty sure you have the makings right there for a fab read, so it was a no-brainer for me to just one-click this read the moment I saw it. I am so glad that I did and cleared my evening because this book consumed me. Max and Lilianna quickly became one of my absolute favorite book couples that I have read of 2021 and I was hooked on the chemistry that they slowly and painfully built up on my kindle. I love how McKinley does that and she really did a wonderful job of it in No Way Out. I am so excited to see that this is the first of a series and that we will be getting more of this deliciousness on our kindles hopefully in the near future. I just love love love Karina Cardinal mystery books from the ever talented Ellen Butler!! With every book in this series I find myself saying over and over these get better and better and I once again find myself saying that with Swindler’s Revenge. I was up way past my bedtime to read how Karina would get herself out of the mess she found herself in once again in this one. I just had to know. This one was so good I couldn’t read it in pieces so I dove in and found out and with every page I was more and more hooked into her story laughing and yelling at my kindle as the hubby stirred next to me and rolled his eyes at my excited reading. People these books are not ones that you want to miss if you love mystery, crime, drama, romance, suspense, laughter, travel, and so much more. Every time Butler takes you to a new place and on a new adventure that will make you feel as if you have slipped on your private investigator shoes and jumped right into the action yourself. While I may have not read the first book in the DAG series, I was pleasantly surprised with how much I became invested in the characters of UNSETTLED SCORES, and the DAG Team. This story is very fast paced and full of action as much as it is full of romance and intrigue and suspense that kept me on my toes and reading well into the night. I just had to know how things were going to work out for Amy surrounding the death of her sister. I won’t’ give away much more on the story line because that would be a huge spoil but this is one you don’t want to miss if you love drama and crime mixed with a small bit of romance. My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was really excited to read more of Rocky’s story after finishing his first story in Risa Nyman’s first book, SWALLOWED BY A SECRET. This book really brought to life more of his future and did exactly what I had hoped it would. I loved seeing him in his older child years, my favorite years as a child. He navigated through some really difficult times and did so beautifully, well Ms. Nyman wrote them beautifully. This book is one that I feel can be enjoyed by both children and parents alike. I think I relate well as a parent of young kids, teens and I think that my teen daughter will also relate well with the characters. This is one that just hits all the notes there and that is not an easy task to accomplish, so well done Ms. Nyman. I do hope we will see more from her in the future of similar style. I for sure would be interested in reading them.

I really enjoyed this second installment of the Notebook Mysteries from Kimberly Mullins. I normally don’t overly love young adult books but these ones really weave enough of the historical aspects that keep me really interested and hooked on it and enthralled in the story. Emma is back with a new mystery to solve and more romance to keep you on your toes. I would think if you haven’t read book one that you would be okay to start here but I would recommend book one as well. These books are full of wit and charm as much as mystery and intrigue. These have something for everyone and all ages. Definitely must reads! I can’t wait to see what will come next!

I have never had the pleasure of reading one of Amanda Shelley’s novels prior to DREW and I could not have chosen a better one to start! This sweet and sassy college romance really was quite the perfect rainy afternoon read for myself. I am a sucker for college romances and this one had all the components that really kept my interests engaged until that very last page. I loved Drew and Abbey and these two kept me begging for more as I hoped that they would get that happily ever after. I won’t divulge if they do because that would ruin the fun but I can assure you this is a read you do not want to miss to find out for yourself! From the moment these two have the first fiery, awkward, and perfect interaction in chemistry class the chemistry in the rest of the book is just perfect as well. The Men of Syn are downright sinful for sure. I fell head over heels in love with the series with book one, HAWKE, so when I saw book two was available I scooped it up faster than you could say one-click. These reads hit all the sweet spots for me when it comes to dark and delicious romance that makes me blush as I read but has me coming back for more every single time. Once again in CAINE we are brought back to the BDSM club of SYN to get the story of Caine, a sexy dom on the run and up to no good for sure. I loved his story and couldn’t possibly think he would have gained higher love than Hawke but I was so wrong and he quickly became one of my absolute favorite characters that Anise Storm has written that I have had the pleasure of reading so far. I cannot wait to see what else this series will hold and who we will get to meet and fall in love with next!

MacBride is a new author to me so this is a wonderful find for me at a five star read that had me so hooked I read well past my bedtime to find out if these two characters that had stolen my heart would get the happily ever after I so wanted them to have. Of course you will have to read and find out if they did for yourself because you won’t find that detail in my review lol but I can tell you this book is one you do not want to miss. Especially if you enjoy reads that can make you cry and laugh all in one chapter, not something that is easy to do with such ease and grace that AK MacBride does so very well in this one several times. I loved the fact that the tragedies were believable and relatable and made the story rich not heavy. I was completely invested in the futures of these two from the way they would love to the way they would live. I cannot wait to see what else is available from Ms. MacBride!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay so I was late to the game of watching the Breaking Bad tv show and just binged watched that this summer with the gf and this book gave me crazy Breaking Bad vibes! Which is a good thing! I loved it. I loved all the action, drama, suspense, and the underlying romance kept me on my toes and really invested in the characters completely. This is my first time reading Marsha R. West as well so I am super excited to have found a new author to dive into a catalog with hopefully!

This book takes you to the beautiful mountains of New Mexico with Liz, good name eh lol, as she tries to rebuild her life after her husband is found guilty of money laundering. It isn’t going to be an easy break away though as the danger follows her. Matt the love interest is only the icing on the cake in the story I tell you that much! This is one you don’t want to miss if you love suspenseful crime novels with romance!
