Red Coat by Isobella Dunn – Review by Liz Vrchota

Red CoatRed Coat by Isobella Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I had no idea what I was getting myself into when I picked up Red Coat by Isobella Dunn for an afternoon in the sun by the pool. I was so engrossed in this book though that I quickly found myself with a bit of a sunburn and a book hangover. This was quite the enthralling read and I was completely taken away into Sara’s world. She made me want to reach in and hug her and Rachel several times. This book really was layered with elements of romance and mystery but also brought drama and coming of age in as well. I enjoyed the way Dunn balanced the heavy and made it feel as if you were able to enjoy it in any setting, like I said I enjoyed this by the pool but also could have found myself enjoying this under the blankets on a cold rainy day. I look forward to seeing what else might be available by Isobella Dunn and what may come next.

Secure Decision (Chase Security Series Book 5)Secure Decision by R.L. Dunn
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I was excited to see what the fifth book in the Chase Security Series would bring and it did not disappoint! While you could read this book as a standalone I would highly recommend this series be read in order as they all build really well together and do tend to overlap at times here and there. I really love the way they layer the romance with intrigue and danger leaving you wanting more each and every single time. This one brought us the ever exciting story of Wes and Eleanor. These two will have you sitting on the edge of your seat as you try to figure them out and the drama that surrounds them as the story unfolds. I cannot wait to see what we will get with the next book!

Forbidden WolfForbidden Wolf by C.R. Robertson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is a non-stop action filled read that will suck you in from page one and keep you hooked until the crazy cliffhanger ending that will leave you wanting more right now! I wasn’t sure what to expect when I scooped it up having never read CR Robertson before but I was enthralled by the cover and wanted to know more. I was completely grasped and knew that I was not disappointed I had grabbed this five star read by the time I finished chapter one. This is not your typical vamp fights Lycan Twilight spin off read. It will challenge the stereotypes you have come to build behind those for sure. I can’t say enough good things about this book and I am anxious to see what the next one in the series will bring us.

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers Book 1) by Belinda Williams – Review by Liz Vrchota

Mr. Nice Guy (Pierce Brothers, #1)Mr. Nice Guy by Belinda Williams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I always love it when I find out that Belinda Williams has a new RomCom available. I really needed a hearty love story with some good laughs and Mr. Nice Guy sure did deliver the goods! I really loved how Ms. Williams took a typical friends to lovers trope and made me fall in love with it all over again while I rooted for these two to find the happily ever after at the end of the story. Chelsea is our main gal and the one who just cannot seem to find a guy who has a nice bone in his body to save her soul. Enter her roommate and friend Tom and you have a recipe for a wonderful read. I loved this one and I could totally see myself diving into this one again for several re-reads. I can’t wait to see what the future books in the Pierce Brothers series will bring as this is the first of several to come!!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Yall if you have never read Sonya Jesus and Cam Johns writing together, run, don’t walk, run and one click this series now! This is book two in the series and by far one of my favorite books by these two ever! I couldn’t wait to get my hands on this one after diving into the other ones that prefaced this but wow did this one blow all my expectations out of the water. I really love dark romance stories especially ones with mafia storylines so this series was never a question for me but the way this weaves and flows is something that I think is masterful and could make a big screen blow up! I was on the edge of my seat following Dane and Mila through everything they faced and pulling for them to find the happy ending I so wanted them to have! I cannot wait to see what will come next!

Blue Summer Part TwoBlue Summer Part Two by Everly Taylor
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Blue Summer Part Two is definitely everything I had hoped it would be. Now, I hope it would go without saying that this being a part two you should read the first book before diving into this one, but to each their own. This is an interesting set of books that builds a whole new world that is set up for us in book one and we revisit in this installment with the same wonderful characters that we fell in love with. I love how Ms. Taylor has made this unique world for us to escape into so easily. Her writing style is so descriptive and flows so well that the reader is transported easily and feels as if they are walking alongside the characters. I am eager to see what else is available by her Everly Taylor and what will come next!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay, so I will be the first to admit I am usually over vampire novels. They have run their course but this book has a character with my daughters name closely to it in it and the reviews were stellar as well as some awesome teasers so I had to see for myself what was behind the cover! I am super glad that I did so and I will be back for more!! I loved every moment and quickly devoured this in one sitting. I enjoyed how it was fast paced with plenty of ebb and flow to keep me well on the edge of my seat and wondering what would come next but also fanning myself at the right times too! I fell in love with the fierce female characters that dominated the kindle too! Something we need more of! I will be checking out more of LD Wosar as well because this was also my first experience with this author and now I am HOOKED!

The Eclipse Dancer by Laura Koerber – Review by Liz Vrchota

The Eclipse DancerThe Eclipse Dancer by Laura Koerber
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While this book should have been a heavy mess of emotions, and at times it was, it didn’t kill me with the tears and sobbing mess that I had prepared myself for when I first sat down expecting to. I was both pleasantly surprised by this and sad as well. I didn’t know how to really process the feels that I was going through while reading this novel but I suppose that is how I feel most of the time I read novels penned by Miss Koerber. I will say this book could be read as a fairytale yes but really it is a wonderful read for the middle-age adult who is dealing with the task of how to process or change to caring for our parents or grandparents ets… we become the caregivers at this age and I think there were some really strong poignant points that I took away from reading this for sure. It was also a nice escape as well with a wonderful understory that was nice to escape into and follow along with. I look forward to seeing what else may come from Koerber in the future.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoyed this paranormal romance from Andrea Matthews. I was used to her writing style so I knew what I was getting into when I picked up this newest series from her. I really enjoyed this lovely start of what I can only imagine will be a rich and detailed trip through pagan and irish history as we follow the way this story and series will unfold. I really loved how once again Matthews’ love for history and romance shone through each and every word almost poetically as it read. I really enjoyed it and felt transported into the story and each scene. I will be anxious to go back and read book two just as soon as I can get my hands on it!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was excited to get to read the second book of the Soul Connection series from Nikki Lynn Barrett, Sleeping Angel. I was prepared, or so I thought, for the emotional roller coaster that it would take me on and settled in on a rainy afternoon when I needed an escape from some heavy stuff going on in my own life. While I needed it it was one heck of a tear jerker! So make sure you have your tissues ready when you do finally read Logan and Angels story. This is one you do not want to miss though. It is a wonderful reminder that our lives are short and we should really savor what we have when we have it and live it while we can. I look forward to seeing what will come with the next novel. I am sure it will be just as wonderful as the first two.

Love UnexpectedLove Unexpected by Marina Hanna
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I have never read anything previously from Marina Hanna but boy will I be back for more! This read was quite the fun one and it had just the right amount of steam to balance it all out. I really enjoyed the wit and sass that flowed off the kindle as I read and had me reading so fast I barely felt as if I had been reading for any time at all when that ending hit. I was a bit bummed but I didn’t feel slighted with the storyline. I wouldn’t mind more in the future of these two. They just popped so well and worked out so perfectly I couldn’t say enough good things. I really wanted to read more. That is saying a lot because the basis of an office romance is not a new trope and often one I skip lately since it tends to be overplayed for me. I am glad I gave this one a read though! Can’t wait to see what will come next.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

With six children I am often picking up books with a tagline and bright cover that catch my eye. I never know if and when I will be asked for something new to read by one of them and often run out of ideas, believe it or not! This one was not only a new author but a new adventure that I hope will spark some new interests that will open up some stories for my middle grade daughters. I must confess I started to flip through this baby and fell into it and devoured it myself. The story is fast paced and well written with lots of myth, lore, and magic that just about any age could enjoy this. I can see us enjoying this book as a family read out loud even. I do look forward to seeing what else may be available and if we get more of the world we are introduced to in THE WAY TO STOREY!

Elusive (Billionaire Bodyguards #5)Elusive by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This series just gets better and better with each installment! I often find myself saying that with Via Mari’s novels though. I really love how she can write a strong and domineering male but she really can throw in an equally strong female to counter him! We get just that with this fifth book in the Billionaire Bodyguards Book, Elusive. Sheldon and Alexis really heat up the kindle screen with their interactions in so many different ways and I loved every moment of it. I believe these books really could be read as standalones but they are so good why not get them all and devour them together? I am anxious to see who and what will come next!

THE DEVOTED FAN (21ST Century Courtesan Book 5) by Pamela DuMond writing as P. S. DuMond – Review by Liz Vrchota

THE DEVOTED FANTHE DEVOTED FAN by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow! This riveting conclusion to the 21st Century Courtesan Series from PS DuMond has really been everything I could have hoped for and then some. Of course, that is not something that I don’t expect with this series and author but it is still a lovely thing when you get it. I really have loved this series and the characters we have met and grown to care for and hate at times. I will not be giving any bit of what happens in this book away in my review but I can tell you this is one you do not want to miss. You will want to start with the very first book and read your way through them in the correct order. They build so wonderfully and often leave you hanging for that next delectable bite at the end that you would not want to miss them. THE DEVOTED FAN may have been the conclusion but for me I will be going back and starting at the beginning again. DuMond really weaves layers into her stories and I feel like I need to go back and just absorb them again and see if I may have missed anything. These are that good so go snag the whole set, you won’t be disappointed! I can’t wait to see what will come next from Ms. DuMond!

This series is just as exciting and fun to read as the covers suggest they are! I have such a difficult time deciding with each one which is my favorite but I really think this one has taken the cake for me. I was instantly connected to the characters and completely rooting for them to have the happiest of endings possible. Cursed Whispers is the third book in AJ Renee’s Broderick Coven Series so I would recommend reading them in order to get a feel and understanding for what to expect. This story brings us the adventure of Max and Claudia, and they do not disappoint one bit! I cannot wait to see what the next book will bring us! I can only hope the wait is not too long!

Red Farlow is back with this fourth installment of the Red Farlow Mysteries, BLOOD MUG. This one was just as fast paced and action filled as the previous three. I particularly liked the mystery of this one and the way it unfolded so I’d have to say this one takes the first place of favorites so far for me. I do love this series so that is a hard one for me to say. WF Ranew once again has written the book in a way that I feel as if I am right there solving the crime scenes and puzzles with PI Farlow. I love when an author can transport me so that is always a positive for me when I pick up one of his books. I can’t wait to see what adventure and mystery we will find ourselves on next time!

I had no idea what I was getting into when I picked up CHAMELEON by Zoe Kalo, but I loved the cover and I knew I wanted to know more. I am so glad I picked it up! This sucker took me on one heck of a ride. I was up well into the night cuddled up into my covers and constantly looking over my shoulder to make sure I was actually alone lol. This sucker scared the crap out of me at times and that is saying something for me, a seasoned ghost hunter. I loved it and was sad to see it end. I loved how this wove like a true story and as if I was right there with the characters. Hence the scare, when the scenes are set in convents and mental institutions. This isn’t one you want to miss if you love a good scare and a true mind boggle treat!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow… What to say for sure is hard for me with this review. SJ Molloy is new to me as an author. I was slightly warned this was a dark read with all the dark and twisted things that normally don’t bother me but actually tend to draw me into reads. You see, I like to escape and find things that pull me out of the darkness that can be my own life sometimes. I want it to hurt more than my own. Well Ms. Molloy, you have surely outdone yourself with this novel and this series. I like it. I don’t know what that says about me but I really, really like it and I want more. I am invested in these characters and I will be going back for more to see where they began and how we ended up here. I do slightly wish I had done so before diving in here but that was my own mistake. I won’t divulge what happens in this book. That would be a travesty at best but I will say if you want dark romance, erotica written with taste and done in a way you want to enjoy and feel as if you slipped away for a bit, this is the book for you, maybe even the series. I will say don’t pick it up if you are sensitive and have easy triggers. Just don’t.

Walker Pride (The Walker Family, #1)Walker Pride by Bernadette Marie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I must confess normally cowboy romances aren’t my favorites, but Brenadette Marie knocked this one out of the park and I was hooked from page one until the ending. I loved this whole read and am looking forward to seeing how this series unfolds. Eric Walker is the man of the hour in this book and his leading lady is Susan. These two do not disappoint and I very much loved the detail with which Ms. Marie wove their story. It was multilayered so I did have to go back a few times to clarify I was following things right and had the idea right. That is the only small note I would make on this one and the only thing keeping a five star rating for me. I just got a bit confused sometimes but I loved the story overall. I hope the next one flows a bit smoother. I think this is a series I will want to grace my bookshelf as well with covers like this one!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is fire! Straight from the very first chapter I was sucked in and held until that last page that I wanted to come because I needed to know how things would come to a close, but at the same time I dreaded so much so. I loved this read and was so enamored. I could not get this book out of my head long after I had finished it. This brought the best of both worlds for me with the slow burn romance and the dark underworld of the mafia too. I won’t divulge all the details or anymore than the blurb does because I feel that would give away too much and ruin the experience for readers. This is one you won’t want to miss and you will have to take my world for it. I will definitely be back for more in this series as soon as it is available! Melody Calder was a new author to me when I picked up this gem but I was pleased with my experience so much I have since gone and one-clicked some of her other works to devour in the very near future as well!

I wasn’t sure what I was going to get when I picked up Blue Summer: Part One by Everly Taylor, but I knew just from the gorgeous cover I needed to read it and see what adventure awaited me. I am so glad I dove right in. This world that Ms. Taylor created was one that easily transported me and made me feel the magic that she created so effortlessly. I felt as if I was right there with the characters and like the world was very real and tangible. I love when a book can do that for me so this was an instant win in my book. I particularly loved how this was a sweet and easy read with underlying themes of acceptance and character growth for many ages that could enjoy the read. I know my daughters could pick this up and read it in a few years and enjoy it as much as I did now in my thirties. This is one you won’t want to miss out on if you enjoy witty and strong characters with paranormal themes and slight romance undertones. I look forward to seeing what will come in the second part hopefully very soon!

Our Wicked LiesOur Wicked Lies by Glede Browne Kabongo
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was one “wicked” read! I wish I had found Glede Browne Kabongo sooner! I loved the mental roller coaster this book took me on as I read and could not put this down! I was instantly sucked into this perfect idyllic life of wealth and the lushness that comes with it. Everyone wonders how it must be to never worry right? Well nothing is ever as it seems and this book really examines that exact point perfectly. It takes one family and spins their lives completely three-sixty. I was constantly second guessing my conclusions and was still wrong throughout, which really is the best when it comes to reading a thriller novel. This was one of those books I couldn’t wait to finish because I had to know how it ended, but I was also devastated because I wanted to keep reading. Like a ride that you didn’t want to get off of. I will definitely be checking out Glede Browne Kabongo’s other works as soon as possible and will probably be re-reading this one soon! I am sure I missed some goodies along the way with all the twists and turns!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Wow, this was a heavy book. I can honestly say I did not know what to expect when I picked this one up. Carmen Richter is a new author to me and this book caught my eye with the cover. I went in blind and probably that was for the best. I tend to judge books based on topic sometimes and I have been trying to break the habit. I am glad that I did so here but this book is a heavy read that hurt my heart for the main character, Zoe. For only being 16 this girl has been through it, good grief. I wanted badly to reach into my kindle and hug her. Things seem to look up for her when she unleashes her grief in a soul crushing performance at an open mic night but the secrets it creates can only cause more tension and possible pain. Will it be another tragedy for her? I will definitely be back for more in the next book to see how things will progress for Zoe. I am really pulling for her!

Betrayal at the Beach: A Cozy Christian Mystery (Dangerous Curves Book 1)Betrayal at the Beach: A Cozy Christian Mystery by K.L. Montgomery
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

KL Montgomery is one of my absolute favorites when it comes to inclusive and sweet romance reads. When I saw that her newest series had a curvy redheaded librarian at the helm of a cozy mystery I knew I had to get my hands on it and as soon as it dropped. I was so excited that I opened this book in the evening the moment the kiddos went to bed and I actually had it wrapped up and finished later that night. It was SO SO good I just could not put this down. I’m talking my kindle came with me to the bathroom, that good! Not sorry either lol. Sunshine is just about everything I wanted to be in a past life I think. I always have wanted to be a librarian a bit and this made me feel as if I was living vicariously with the vivid descriptions and chapters that made me feel as if I was right there with the characters experiencing everything as it happened in Bryce Beach. I am so thrilled to come back to this series in the near future again and again. The best part is this is a series I feel will be perfect to share with my growing and blossoming teen and pre-teen daughters. I think they will love this one and it has some underlying lessons that can be learned for them that will be well worth the investment of the time. This is one series you do not want to miss!

KM Lowe has quickly become one of my fav romantic novelists to pick up. Her reads can take me away with the characters to where they are and make me feel as if I am on the adventure they are on experiencing first hand what they do. I love books that can do this for me. Date Night was no exception and quickly became a little getaway to Glasgow, somewhere I hope to get someday. I loved how this was an easy read even though it tackled the demons of the characters pasts. It never felt heavy and dark, which is nice at times but not always. I could relate to the characters and was rooting for them to get the happily ever after the whole time I read their story. I cannot wait to see what will come next from Ms. Lowe!

I wanted to read something a bit different from the usual genre that I had been my go to lately so I picked up this historical romance from the teasers that caught my eye. I am glad I gave it a go! Normally, not one I would just one-click but it really kept me enthralled and reading all the way until the end to find out what would happen and if that happily ever after would happen. I enjoyed how engaging Jean Wilde wrote these characters. I felt very much as if this was historically accurate but enjoyable and that is not easy to do for me personally as a reader. Love by Design (The Meraki Series Book 2)Love by Design by Effie Kammenou
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I really enjoy reading anything Effie Kammenou this newest series, The Meraki Series, is just to darn fabulous to not absolutely adore. If you don’t believe in hopeless and sweet love these books will make you a believer I promise, and If you are they will only encourage that love to grow and multiply! I love especially how we are transported to far away, for me anyway, lands like Greece and Italy, and made to feel as if we can taste and smell the beautiful world it is. I want so bad someday to go to both these places but I feel like I have been even for a moment in my dreams just by reading these books. Kammenou can really transport you with her words. Love by Design brings us the slow building love story of two enemies that eventually will find love within each other. I just love books like these and how warm and fuzzy they make me feel. The underlying story makes you feel like it is an adventure you are on with them as a bonus! The real hidden gem is the recipes that Ms. Kammenou gives us woven in the story. Please try them and you will not be disappointed! I cannot wait for more Meraki books and whatever else may come from Effie Kammenou!

Relentless: Dark Billionaire Mafia Romance (Billionaire Bodyguards Book 4) by Via Mari – Review by Liz Vrchota

RelentlessRelentless by Via Mari
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I really enjoy just about everything I pick up that is penned by Via Mari, and this, Relentless, is no exception to the rule. It is the fourth in her Billionaire Bodyguards series, and I personally recommend reading the others before diving into this one for the maximum enjoyment, but it ultimately isn’t necessary to the story really. I love how these books bring the romance and the intrigue all in one well developed and quickly read package. I can always expect some high suspense and twists and turns that I didn’t see coming. Relentless gives us the story of Dereck and Layla (I love that her name!) and it is one that will keep you fanning yourself as you turn the pages following the adventurous story they have to share. I cannot wait to see what we will get in the next book.
