Seductive Prey (Relentless #1) by Vivian Fiano – Review by Liz Vrchota

Seductive Prey (Relentless #1)Seductive Prey by Vivian Fiano
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was such a gripping and deep read! I have not read Ms. Fiano before and this could not have been a better introduction to her! This book is everything my dark suspense and romance reader heart could have ever wanted. I loved how the characters felt real and relatable as I read them, almost feeling as if I was right there as they experienced the suspense. I was not expecting that ending but it sure has my heart racing waiting for book two! If you love a bit of a twist here and there and some deep thoughtful undertones to your romance, this is the book for you. I look forward to seeing what else may be available by Vivian Fiano as well.

THE HUSBAND (21ST Century Courtesan #4) by Pamela DuMond writing as P. S. DuMond – Review by Liz Vrchota

HUSBAND (21st Century Courtesan Book 4)HUSBAND by Pamela DuMond
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay when I first picked up the beginning of this series, 21st Century Courtesan, I had no idea what I was getting myself into. I had never read PS DuMond but I knew this would be right up my alley of genre and I knew I wanted to know what it held for me. I was instantly hooked and have been back for more over and over again. This, THE HUSBAND, is the fourth book in the series and I cannot stress enough how important it is to read this series from the beginning and in order. This builds like the perfect song or movie and has the ebbs and flow that will keep you wanting more and more and you read. Don’t even begin to try figuring out where Ms. DuMond will take you because she is a masterful mind and wicked with a pen, keeping you guessing and going huh? I love the characters and have gotten so completely invested in them that I feel as if they are very much real and I want to embrace them and yell at them from time to time. You won’t regret picking up this book or the rest of the series so take my word for it and one-click them all today! I can’t wait to see what will happen next, even if the end is near!

Sure As Hell (Life Is Hell Book 4) by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Liz Vrchota

Sure As Hell (Life is Hell #4)Sure As Hell by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I am always excited to get my hands on a new Life Is Hell novel from Naomi Valkyrie. It is a one-click, no questions asked, kind of thing and I never regret it. Sure As Hell did not deviate from this and kept me on the edge of my seat the entire time I read. I started this one early in the evening hoping to get enough and to bed at a decent time… lol not sorry, but that did not happen. I had to see how my new favorite characters would end up! I wish Juniper Lake was kind of a real place. I can imagine how much fun it would be to visit and see that not all things with a hint of dark are bad at their cores. This is a series you do not want to miss if you love the dark arts, magic, fae, warlocks and more. I cannot wait to see what the next book will hold!

I Will Bury You by Brandy Nacole – Review by Liz Vrchota

I Will Bury YouI Will Bury You by Brandy Nacole
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I struggled with this one, and that was difficult for me because I went into it wanting to love love it so much. I have a thing for psychological thrillers and maybe I set a high bar too because of that. This book has a great baseline and wonderful plot to work with. The characters are strong and I could see where I would get the crap scared out of me. However, I found myself struggling because I would find myself needing to go back and reread or rethink areas because some editing was missed and things were just not laid out the way they should have been for that smooth and effortless read that I wanted so badly. I loved the excitement it still contained and could see myself giving it another read if it was tweaked and re-edited in the future. For me I will go with a solid three stars for now though.

Try Right (Aloha Series book 3) by Jill Brashear – Review by Liz Vrchota

Try RightTry Right by Jill Brashear
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was excited to get my hands on this book the moment I saw the cover. I am a sucker for bright and enticing covers that draw me in before I even read the blurb. I have never read anything by Jill Brashear before and I think this was the perfect start for me to experience her writing. This was a fun read and even though it was the third in the Aloha Series I was able to read it with no issues. I will be going back to read the rest now that I have loved this one so much though. This one is set in 1968 in Hawaii and is so beautiful to read. I felt as if I was propped up with my fav drink on the beach watching the adventure unfold before me as the waves crashed on the shore in front of me. The way Brashear describes her scenes really pulls you in and makes you experience everything first hand. I liked the unique spin on a second chance love story. I am so excited to see what will come next!

In Plain Sight ( The Broken Bow Book 3) by Ashley A Quinn – Review by Liz Vrchota

In Plain Sight (The Broken Bow Book 3)In Plain Sight by Ashley A. Quinn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I cannot get enough of The Broken Bow series by Ashley A Quinn! In Plain Sight is the third in the series, but could be read as a standalone if need be. I personally would recommend that you read the series in order to get the maximum enjoyment of all details and characters that build throughout. In this one we got the story of Rayna and Thomas, and they did not disappoint! I was so sucked in by this book that I read way past my bedtime for the first time in a long time. Three AM came so fast, but I was not one bit disappointed that I got to see how this thrilling romantic suspense novel would turn out. Quinn does a wonderful job of building the story and suspense as you read, that you often find yourself sitting on the edge of your seat. This book is one heck of a ride and may even tug at the emotional heart strings as well. I won’t divulge much more because that would just ruin the fun, but this is one you do not want to miss out on. I can’t wait to see what we will get in book four!

Savage (Ash Park Series Book 10) by Meghan O’Flynn – Review by Liz Vrchota

Savage: An Ash Park Novel (Volume 10)Savage: An Ash Park Novel by Meghan O’Flynn
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I will never ever get enough of this series from Meghan O’Flynn. I picked up that first book in the Ash Park Series way back a few years ago and I have personally reread all of them a time or two since. This newest addition, Savage, will be no different and I am sure will find myself picking it back up soon. O’Flynn does a wonderful job of writing these books so realistically you feel as if you are really right there in the gore and danger along with the detectives. We see our old friend again, Detective Petrosky, and boy he did not disappoint this time around either. I loved these books so much and I could never say enough good things about them, but I will not divulge any of the details because these are books that have to be read and discovered page by page by each person. They will keep you up at night finding out what is going to happen and then haunt your dreams as you try to actually sleep. This is one series you do not want to miss out on, and Savage is one of my favorites of the whole thing so don’t wait, one-click today!

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 2) by Krysten Lindsay Hager – Review by Liz Vrchota

In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety (The Cecily Taylor Series #2)In Over Her Head: Lights, Camera, Anxiety by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the second novel in The Cecily Taylor Series and I personally recommend that you read the first book before diving into this one. This one deals with where Cecily is after making her big decision that was the center of the first book. I won’t give much details outside of what you already find in the synopsis because that would spoil the whole novel in my opinion. This is one you will find yourself feeling a tad nostalgic if you are more my age, for your high school years. I personally loved high school so this was right up my alley and felt relatable in some ways. I like how this may not be the easiest storyline to find believable outside of dreams but the way the characters grow and develop with what is happening and the coming of age is very true to the realities that teenagers face on the daily. I will be sharing this series with my daughter in the near future before she dives into high school herself. I think this is another good quality for a book to have. The ability to span across ages and touch each reader. Ms. Hager does a wonderful job of this. I very much look forward to seeing what will come in the third book.

Jinxed (Hell on Heels Book 2) by Maggie Adams – Review by Liz Vrchota

Jinxed (Hell on Heels, #2)Jinxed by Maggie Adams
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I thoroughly enjoyed the first book in the Hell on Heels series from Maggie Adams, so book two was a no brainer one-click for me. This book is probably safe to read as a standalone if that is more your thing though. I really love how relatable Maggie Adams manages to make her characters. They are realistic and encounter realistic things that make it that much more believable.

In this quick but packed read, Jinxed, we get the story of Mitchell and Sadie. These two are the epitome of opposites attract and reading the journey is both a funny and loveable read. I really was pulling for these two to get that happily ever after. I cannot wait to see what the next book may bring us.

Electric Temptation (The Protectors Series Book 5) by Toya Richardson – Review by Liz Vrchota

Electric Temptation (The Protectors, #5)Electric Temptation by Toya Richardson
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I always know I am in for an adventure when I pick up a novel by Toya Richardson and Electric Temptation was no exception to the rule. I once again was sucked into her magical and paranormal world with the fifth book in The Protectors Series, Electric Temptation. Even though it is the fifth it is not necessarily needed to read the whole series, but I do think your reading experience would benefit. Like I hinted at earlier, Richardson does a wonderful job of world building. You feel transported into a new place with the characters and feel as if you are experiencing things as they do. This has lots of layers to a paranormal romance, so I am sure most anyone would find something to enjoy in this little gem of a read. I cannot wait to see what the next novel will bring!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I have yet to read a book by Brooke May that I did not just outright laugh while reading. This book is no exception to the rule. I was so excited to get my hands on this as soon as I saw the teasers. Scorching Hot Mess is an easy read with lots of aspects to it that almost anyone who loves to laugh could read this and find it absolutely enjoyable. I really loved our MC, Willow Everett. She is the definition of a hot mess lol. I found this catchy and relatable because this is often a phrase I use to describe my kiddos or myself lol. Someone is always having a hot mess kind of day in our house. I loved how this book read so fast as well even at a full length novel. I got to devour it on a sunny afternoon and it could not have been the more perfect read to lift my spirits. If you love witty rom coms and strong characters with some fun twists this is the book for you! I am excited to see what we will get next from Brooke May!

This was one full novel with lots of layers and details, but the best part I love of Jacquie Biggar is that she can take a complicated story and make it easy to read. I really enjoyed this suspenseful romance that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat waiting to find out what would come next and how our characters would end up. Maggie is a relatable woman and really I found myself pulling for her throughout the whole thing ready to find out if she would end up safe and happily in love. Twisted Throttle (Satan’s Devils MC Second Generation #3) by Manda Mellett – Review by Liz Vrchota

Twisted Throttle (Satan's Devils MC Second Generation #3)Twisted Throttle by Manda Mellett
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Manda Mellett has done it again, making me fall in love with these characters over and over but in a unique way every time. I have been reading and following from the get go the Satan’s Devils MC series and they all are among one of my favorite MC series ever. Twisted Throttle is the third book in this branch, the second generation. We get to meet and love the kids of the originals we read before. I personally recommend that you start at the beginning so you can fall in love with this family and understand where they all come from. You won’t be disappointed you did I am sure.

Twisted Throttle brings us the story of Peg and Darcy’s, the OG Leader and his lady, son Throttle. Throttle is not a soft character. He is a rough around the edges leader and even rougher when it comes to matters of the heart. Usually he is the hit it and quit it guy until he meets Gwen. These two will have you on the edge of your seat waiting to see how the story will conclude. I loved every moment of it with these two and the family of side characters. I can’t wait to see what we will get next!

Peaceful Slumber (Soul Connection Book 1)Peaceful Slumber by Nikki Lynn Barrett
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was such a fun evening read! I have had the pleasure of reading some other novels by Nikki Lynn Barrett but this little gem has to be my favorite yet. This is one ghost story you will not want to miss out on. We get the story of Scott, a man who died three years ago. He may have only been dead for ten minutes but those ten minutes forever changed his life. He now sees ghosts, but a particular one, a woman in a blood stained wedding gown, really calls to him. He ends up naming her Zelda after the game because hello it’s cool, and he is determined to figure her out. Zelda can see Scott, but she doesn’t even remember who she is, no memories to be found. These two characters suck you in and will make you fall in love with them. I couldn’t put this sucker down and I sure hope we get new stories like this in the near future from Nikki Lynn Barrett.

I was so very excited for this book. Forged by Secrets is the third book in the Deadly Isles Special Ops Series from Amy McKinley, and probably my fav so far, hard reach since I have loved this series so much. These books could be read as standalones I am sure if you want to but I think these really are enjoyed best in order. This one is another breath-holder, and highly intense read with all the goodies one who loves a military romance with heat would want to find. The best part of these books is the thrill and suspense that keeps you slightly on the edge of your seat hoping for the best outcome the entire read. This brings us the story of Malina and Tyler, who you will absolutely fall for and find yourself cheering them on the whole time. Will they get through the storms and find a happily ever after?

Daisy’s Darkness (Wheels & Hogs Book 6) by D.M. Earl – Review by Liz Vrchota

Daisy's Darkness (Wheels & Hogs #6)Daisy’s Darkness by D.M. Earl
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book is about as real as it can get when it comes to shedding a light on the many obstacles, feelings, and scary and scarring topics that teenagers deal with today. I don’t know if it is because I currently have a thirteen year old girl and 5 other kiddos who will hit teenage years, or if it just was plain mind consuming for me because I could relate on a personal level at that age as well, but this book will be with me for a long long time to come. I will say it does have some extremely triggering topics and may be difficult if you do not feel steady or strong in your mental health at the moment. However, I say that with caution because I am a strong believer in words being a healing thing for many. It is nice to feel as if you are not alone in the world whether it is a fiction or nonfiction read. This author, DM Earl, has done a wonderful job as well handling the topics in a way that I found constructive not just for mere filler in a story. I will not give away any of the gritty details because that is something you will want to read and enjoy for yourself, but I will say this is not one you will want to miss. I am new to DM Earl and her writing so I have not read the other books in this series, yet, but I was completely able to dive right in and not feel as if I needed those books to enjoy or understand this one. I will be going to dive into them as soon as possible, and look forward to seeing what else we will get in the future from DM Earl.

Love Between the Lines by A.D. Brazeau – Review by Liz Vrchota

Love Between the LinesLove Between the Lines by A.D. Brazeau
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This book was so much fun to read. The bonus part of it is, it carries a wonderfully done undertone of addressing mental illness and anxiety and the impacts it can have on people and the ones they love. It is not an easy task to take a romance novel and add that mental illness topic and keep it one that will give you all the feels and some laughs while making you feel and relate to topics that are unfortunately not normalized nearly enough. I have not had a chance to read any of AD Brazeau’s works prior to this one, but you bet I will fix that and be devouring her other released novels as soon as possible. This one will be one you can and will probably want to read in a whole sitting and be sad to see it end merely because you have fallen for the characters as if they were real people. I sincerely look forward to seeing if we have or will be getting more books like this from Brazeau in the near future.

These books are written in a way they could be enjoyed as standalones, but I can promise you if you love this one you will want the rest of the available series to devour as well. I really enjoyed the action and thriller parts that balance the hot and steamy parts that will have you fanning yourself as you read. Loyalty & Lies (Spicetopia Book 6)Loyalty & Lies by Phoebe Alexander
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This was like the best of both worlds for me in one jam packed wonderful read! Phoebe Alexander is one of my favorites in the romance and erotica genres, especially her Eastern Shore series. This one took my favorite couple, Calvin and Paisley, and dropped them into the wonderful and sinnfully exciting world of Spicetopia. I was in heaven to say the least. This book was so much fun to disappear into for a while while I was in the hospital and it took me far away into a world I would so rather be in. I love when an author can create these realistic places that you feel you are transported to with their world building skills. This is most definitely one of Alexander’s strong points. I found myself laughing out loud a lot as well and that is all something we need more of in life. I cannot wait to see what else pops us from Ms. Alexander in the hopefully near future!

It is hard to believe that this is the eighth book in Lynda Filler’s Code Raven series. I personally recommend that new readers to this series start with the first book, because these thrilling adventures just build and build getting better and better with each novel. I personally loved this one and couldn’t put it down again, similar to all the rest. It is like visiting a favorite place with people you love when you delve into a Code Raven book every single time. In this one we get a lot of action and thriller feels following two different stories going and intercepting at the same time. The characters are relatable and fun to follow and you become so invested in them that it is hard to believe that this could not turn out good. My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Omg this was such a fun and magical read! I have read Rachel Huffmire before and fallen in love with her mind and how she takes the fairy tales we grew up with and turns them into these worlds I love and never want to leave. I have gotten my daughter a bit hooked on her as well and I am so excited to tell her there is a new one from her with a completely new twist we don’t get enough of, jinn, or genies! Don’t instantly think of Aladdin either, this is a magic that is woven and deep with nods to the Arabic folklore that never gets fully explored. I was so in love with how magical this read felt and how it took me to a world I didn’t want to come out of at the end. I sure hope that we get more in the future among the same Arabic folklore from Huffmire again.

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University Series Book 1) by Diana Vale – Review by Liz Vrchota

Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella (Kirk University, #1)Professor Valentine: A Student-Teacher Contemporary Romance Novella by Diana Vale
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

I will be honest I was hesitant at first with this novella from Diana Vale. It clearly states it is a Student-Teacher romance so I actually thought about it before starting. However, this book was one I decided to give a chance because new authors and supporting black authors during black history month was important to me and I hate to judge a book simply by its cover/title. I am glad I did. It is a short read with a lot to unpack and you feel as if you get an entire full length novel with it. Yes it is steamy, forbidden, and sometimes as a parent it is difficult to read, but honestly if you look at it from the point of a forbidden love story about anyone can relate. We all someday when we fall in love, if we weren’t taught as children, that you cannot help who you fall in love with. Love is love, and oftentimes, even in my own life, others don’t understand the way you make your choices or who you want to be with and why. That’s not for them to judge. I think this book does a good job of keeping it a forbidden tale and is well worth a read for a nightcap.

Strings Attached: A Braebeach Rock Romance by Loriana Cappello – Review by Liz Vrchota

Strings AttachedStrings Attached by Loriana Cappello
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Ugh I want more of this book. The only complaint I could have about it was that it ended! I absolutely adored this read and was consumed by it. In the hospital while hooked up to machines I definitely told my nurses to leave me be please when I got to the end so I could just finish this fantastic read in peace lol. It was such a well written love story I felt as if I had been there watching it all unfold, as if these characters were real and tangible to me. I know authors give us these characters that are real to them and strive to make them just as real, and right here Loriana Cappello did it, and did it flawlessly. To top things off this was my very first time ever reading Loriana Cappello, but it will not be my last. In Strings Attached she gives us the story of Ash and Calla as they traverse their way through a summer fling that becomes so much more. I cannot wait for and hope to get more Braebeach Rock Romances from her soon!

Best Of My Love (Love in Emerald Creek) by N.D. Jackson – Review by Liz Vrchota

Best of my LoveBest of my Love by N.D. Jackson
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Okay this book… please give it a chance and read it before totally reading the reviews. I was a tad heartbroken when I came to review and saw all the hate for this novel because it contains cheating. Ladies it happens. I for one appreciated the raw and real truth that this book gave readers. Sadly I know several friends, and even myself, who have faced situations like these and the option to give a second chance. Maybe I am a hopeless romantic and believe that people can change in ten years, or that love ultimately will and does prevail. This is extremely prevalent in this novel but it is real. So yes this carries the story of a cheater getting a second chance because the woman chooses to do so. It tore me up in a lot of ways as I read it and felt myself relating in some ways. It kept me hanging on and engaged so much I read this is just an evening and it has sat with me ever since. I would give it a go and make sure you have tissues ready and a comfort item.

Being the fourth book in The Chase Security Series from RL Dunn I personally recommend that you start at the beginning with book one before jumping into Secure Her. These books do only get better with each one so you can’t lose either way. I have really enjoyed reading this series and this one was no different. I will say it has some triggering moments in it that I felt the author handled very well with grace and kept it realistic as well. We get Zak’s, the head of the Domestic Law Unit with Chase Security, story in this novel. I really enjoyed his female interest and client, Saoirse and really felt for her so much. Can Dreams Come True? (The Cecily Taylor Series Book 1)Can Dreams Come True? by Krysten Lindsay Hager
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Krysten Lindsay Hager is a new author to me and this book could not have been a better way to be introduced to her writing. I love firstmost how this book draws you in as even an older adult and makes you long for the younger years, as much as it can entertain the young coming of age teens. I was pleasantly surprised with how much this book made me feel nostalgic and miss those days when my only thoughts and concerns were school and boys. In Can Dreams Come True we follow Cecily as she struggles to follow and understand her heart and what it truly wants when all her other dreams are coming true. I love how you could feel and relate to her on such a personal level and she found her way and I was pleased with how the ending came together in a non cheesy way. I will definitely be back for more in book two to see what will come next.

I have been anxious to see how this exciting series would come to an end. The World Beyond the Walls is the third in the Natural Forces books from Jean Gill and the final. I would personally recommend that you read these in order because things really do come to a conclusion and have answers to things brought up in previous books. It is an epic, truly, adventurous read so it is worth the investment in time. I could not put this one down so it was done in just a short few hours for me because. I must say this book gave me the best escape beyond the walls of my hospital room when I needed it so much so I was so grateful. The world building has you feeling as if you could be right there sensing the adventure and elements with the characters. I cannot say enough good about this one and the whole series, and to top it off it is one I know my thirteen year old could enjoy and read just as much I am sure. Oh I could not wait to get my hands on this book! It is the second of The Mercenaries series and the first really drew me into the hot romance and suspense that it gave and left me wanting more. This one does quite the same, keeping you on the edge of your seat as you wait and see what could come next. It completely draws you into the drama and suspense and leaves you fanning yourself with the underlying romance aspects. I was completely engrossed and read it in one evening. Hacker is a complex character and we see that as he tries to help the woman he is in love with. I wasn’t sure what to expect as she was a new author to me but the concept sounded original and gripping enough to give it a go for sure, and I was not disappointed that I picked this up at all. The story has lots of elements to it, fantasy, magic, and a world built with such detail you feel as if your feet are firmly planted there with the characters. This is definitely quite the story and my only complaint is at a few times I felt lost or like the writing became detached just a bit. For me it seemed to work itself out quickly and so that wasn’t a terrible issue. I really enjoyed this read and with a cliffhanger like the one at the end of this, I will definitely want to dive into the next book if there is one!
