What Loretta’s Katydid Did was a cute, yet educational book. I read it with my seven year old, and he was able to read most of it himself. I enjoy this author, and her choice of illustrators. The book is very colorful and fun. After we finished the book, we looked up the words we learned. We looked up what aphids and katydid are, and what they look like. We watched a video to listen to what they sounded like (we don’t agree the katydid/katydidnt sound the author used). We discussed how it sounded like a cricket but looks like a grasshopper, and which family they fit in. I like that the book is educational, but fun.
