Five Stars

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel is the second book in the Lie To Me Series by Lynda Filler. I didn’t read the first book which left me feeling like I was missing part of the story, so I highly recommend you read this series in order. I will definitely be going back and reading the first book, even so, this book had me hooked from the first page. This fast paced adventure held my attention from beginning to end. I love the way Ms. Filler brings the characters to life and the detailed descriptions had me feeling like I was right there in Mexico with them. Layla is trying to get over Mateo and finds herself in the path of a few young men. What’s a girl to do? I enjoyed this book completely and look forward to going back and reading the first book in the series.

Let’s go to Mexico! Filler does another masterful job weaving a fast-paced and exotic tale with relatable characters and tantalizing plot points. Filler is fast becoming a favorite author. She sets the mood and the pace quickly and engages the reader immediately. I cannot wait to read the next book as well as read this book again. Definitely recommended!

My Rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2) by Lynda Filler was a fast pace, steamy, interesting, crazy read, with a surprise touch of action, that rounds out this original tale of love, lust, and the dark underbelly that this world has to offer.

Talk about a book that has it all. Shoot me, the second book to the Lie to Me series, was a different type of addition. The first book drags you to the depths of the back streets of male escorts, but ends on a note where you don’t know if the story will continue. This one picks up well after the fact, with our couple from the first, split. You’re left with a sense of aw before you’ve even started. So I do highly suggest reading that first book, even if this one, sort of reads like a standalone.

Like the first, we’re led on a journey that starts out a light, but as the pages flip and you get pulled deeper into this world, the tone gets darker, things get scary and, at one point I got worried for Lynda. She grew so much in this book, I didn’t think it was possible. But Lynda shows us a different side, and if this series continues I can’t wait to see where the authors takes her next.

Well rounded and just an intriguing read, I highly suggest getting your hands on this not so sweet, dark romance. The elements will shock you, the detail will draw you, and Lynda will become apart of you.

Happy Reading

If you have not read the first in this series, read before this one.
Shoot me is a continuation from book one. Layla is still trying to cope with Mateo leaving and the adventure she takes to do that was enough to light my kindle on fire.
I felt all Layla’s emotions in this book and now I will wait for the next as I absolutely need it!
Love this authors style of writing it just wraps you up and gets you lost in her world for a bit.

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel By Lynda Filler. This book definitely isn’t a standalone alone so go one click book one and one click this one also. This author is quickly becoming a one click author for me, the attention to details is beyond amazing I always feel like I’m a part of the story or just reading it. This story is filled to the brim with emotions, action and steamy parts. But most of all it’s filled with amazing characters with amazing stories just waiting to be shared. From Page one I was hooked and knew I’d be reading it in one sitting because I just couldn’t stop. It’s well written and paced nicely. I was on the edge of my seat just waiting to turn the pages and get lost in Layla’s story! Anxiously waiting to see where the author takes readers next. I’m giving this book a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie To Me series by Lynda Filler and it follows on straight from where the first book Lie To Me ended. Well, 3 weeks after the first book ended. You could technically read this book as a stand-alone but I’d strongly advise that you read Lie To Me first as this book will make much more sense if you have read what preceeds this story.
I struggled a bit with the first book and gave it 4 stars as it was written from many points of view. This book is written from the point of view of only a few characters and thus I found it much easier to follow and therefore enjoyed this book much more. Not saying that I didn’t enjoy the first book as I did. I just enjoyed this one more.
This book starts with Layla still mourning the end of her relationship with Mateo and struggling to move on. When she receives a call from her publisher offering her a deal to write another 2 books as they loved her first one so much, she moves to Guadalajara to research her next book. Here she gets caught up in the seedy world of cartels and often finds herself in danger. She makes many new friends, most of which are male, and continues to ‘indulge’ herself in hot young men.
I really enjoyed the journey that the author took me on in this book and hope that there will be more to come from the Lie To Me series.

Shoot Me by Lynda Filler is the second book in the Lie To Me Series. It is a steamy action packed and a fast paced story that throws you into the world of cartels and political unrest. It shows us the real Mexico and the shadier side of things and their social issues and crime. The situations that the characters see on their journey are often heartbreaking and eye opening. Lynda shows us a scenes of children without family and poverty, corruption and murder which makes this one emotional read at times as you imagine it within your mind.

It is a tale of passion and erotica where men are just waiting in line to experience the lovely American writer and her coming to grips with how her life is now and what she is shown when she turns up to a new beginning.

This is one thought provoking tale that will make you sit up and take notice as it makes your heartache, making you realise that the life you lead is not as bad as it could be.

Shoot Me by Lynda Filler is the second book on the Lie To Me series. It had sex, murder, suspense and resolution.

Layla has quite the life in Mexico. She is still writing and finds herself heading from Puerto Vallarta to Guadalajara which is so different from the laid back tourist town she is use to.

She meets new friends while there and it seems like everyone is somehow connected to one another. That becomes apparent when she runs into people she already knows.

Though there were some heavy moments this didnt seem to weigh on me quiet as much as the first. I feel like the ending could go either way, this could he the end or we could see more of Layla and her case of characters. I hope the latter.

Layla is a smart independent woman. Layla has lost Mateo and now she decides a change of scenery might just help. Through a series of twists and turns, Layla meets quite a few people but is she looking for love in the wrong places? Follow Layla to Guadalajara to find out.

I enjoyed this book as it kept me guessing with the twists and turns. I was not disappointed!

Shoot Me was a great 5 star read and book two in the Lie to Me series. The story picks up shortly after where Lie to Me left off.

Layla is heart broken after Mateo’s departure, she had finally opened up and thought he was the one, only to be left all alone. She has decided to go work in Guadalajara for a few months to get away and write.

Pablo whispered, “It’s the things you cannot see, your vulnerability, the sadness of your memories, and your openness to love, that makes you so beautiful.”

Layla has quite the adventures and is really enjoying her time. She also meets several men throughout the story, some friends some lovers. I had my favorite but enjoyed all of them. There are some hot scenes, romance, danger, and so much more.

All of the secondary characters were great, I loved Marisela. My emotions were all over the place. Will Layla finally get what she’s truly looking for? If you’re looking for a great read I suggest this series, I really like Layla and her story and I can’t wait to read the next book in the series.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I WANT TO GO TO MEXICO! It is literally freezing and we had a blizzard warning last weekend with a watch for one this weekend. I have been fighting a nasty pneumonia for a month and been in and out of the hospital and surgery, but this wonderful adventure in Shoot Me took me far far away from it all on a hot and steamy trip down south. If you haven’t had the chance to read Lie to Me I would highly recommend it, this book is a direct continuation of that one. In fact it literally picks up where that one left off ‘three weeks and eighteen hours’ from the first book. You will be a bit confused as to why our MC, Layla, is where she is and why.

Layla is just a tad still reeling from the way that Mateo left her hanging with that simple note and his disappearing act. Her writing career has taken of and she is signed for a new deal so between her bummed heart and her need for some writing material she does the only thing she can think of. She sets out to drown out his memory and make some new ones. Why not? Everyone knows the best way to get over one mistake is to make a few one night mistakes right? Well this is where the hot (and I do mean hot!) and exciting writing from Lynda Filler really gets going! We meet some great new men and Layla finds herself in some pretty interesting situations. I found myself laughing, fanning myself, and often just hanging my mouth open wondering what would come next. Filler never ceases to keep me hooked from page one till the end, and reeling for the next book to come out as soon as possible. (Hint. Hint. I NEED it soon Ms. Filler LOL) I can’t bear to give much more away. For more juicy details you will just have to one click the book. I promise you won’t be disappointed. I may just have to go back and read the first book while I wait for the next in the series! Happy reading!

Shoot Me by Lynda Filler a four-star read that you will want to aim for. This is the second read in the Lie to Me series and you would benefit from reading the in order. The pace is fast, the drama is deep, and the story is good, Layla is a great character and one you will love watching as she grows before your eyes. The men will melt your eyes as well as other body parts, but it’s not all hot boys and sunshine, there is a depth and compassion to the story that will make you turn the page and suck you in.

This is the second book in the Lie to me series and it is my suggestion that you read the first one because this one picks up right where the first one leaves off. Layla is heading to Guadalajara for a change of scenery after Mateo left her with nothing but a letter, and to continue with her her writing. Not to worry though, Layla meets some new hot men that you will want to read more about. The author did a wonderful job pulling me in from the beginning with her very descriptive and detailed words. I read the first book in this series and truly enjoyed it and I’m glad that this one had the same level of energy and passion. I loved reading this emotionally charged story, with its twists, danger, steamy moments, and heart tugging at times. I was glad to see some returning characters and meet the new ones in this book. There are wonderful characters in this story that you won’t want to miss. I highly recommend this book it was a great read.

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel by Lynda Filler
4 out of 5 stars

This second installment in the Lie to Me Series is just as hot and fast as the first. This book is a continuation of the first one, so the first book is a must read. Layla is in Mexico, trying to drown the loss of Mateo leaving her in wine, coffee and pot, but nothing seems to want to drown him out. What is that old saying? The fastest way to get over one man is to get under another one? Layla does just that, she catches the eye of a very young (in his early 20’s to her 40’s) photographer, and then another young man finds his way into her path…and then another…and then an old friend shows back up who is looking pretty good as well.

The series of events the lead to Layla healing what is left of her heart, the friendships she forges, and the people she loves and who love her back makes for one very fantastic story. Once I met all of the young men in the book, I was pulling for one more than the other, but I won’t tell you why because it will give away some major details of the book, but I thing you will find yourself rooting for one over the other as well. I adore this book and series. This author is on my to be read list!

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie to Me series and I loved every second of it! I really enjoy this authors writing style, her descriptive language allows me to feel like I am really there in her stories and in this case in Mexico – I really could imagine everything that I was reading, the sights, the smells, the colours – everything was vivid in my mind!
This book should be read after book 1 as it is a continuation, one that follows the ending of book 1 very quickly time frame wise. Layla is moving after trying to get over Mateo leaving her the way he did. A change if scene and a place full of sexy men certainly seems to be the idea that Layla has to help her achieve this! And this distraction comes with the name Pablo! Oh he was a hot one!! There was certainly a lot of passion between the two of them!
Alongside all the passion and culture that the author includes in her stories Ms Filler adds other aspects too from a social and political side, this makes her books refreshing to read.
From the writing style side, it did take me a little time to get into but I liked the past and present telling of the story and the format it was written in – it suited the story well.
I am looking forward to more from this author again in the future!

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler

3.5 Stars

This story starts where “Lie to Me” left off – “three weeks and eighteen hours” later to be exact. The female protagonist has just gotten a “three book deal” and has to come up with material to write, so she goes on a travel adventure to find inspiration. (Is this how authors get their groove? hehe)

“The best way to get over one man was to play with another, and another, and maybe, she could forget.” So her adventure begins.

The grammar in this book is different from what I am used to reading and the placement of punctuation threw me off and took me out of the story often. The story is told from present pov and past in the form of journals. The reader is able to see the motivation of the m/c as we read along.

It’s a story filled with intrigue and boys. This was not my favorite book of the year, but I appreciate the effort any author puts into publishing their work.

Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel
By: Lynda Filler
5 out of 5 stars

The story Shoot Me: A Lie To Me Novel by Lynda Filler is a book that I loved reading. It had me intrigued from the very beginning and I found myself turning pages to find out what happens next. One of the reasons that I loved the story so much is the character of Layla. She is a woman who after losing Mateo, a man that she started opening up her heart to, has decided that she needs to change the scenery of her life and goes to the city of Guadalajara. Layla is a smart and independent woman who is looking for the one person who will complete her, give her happiness forever. In her new surroundings, things begin to happen at a fast rate. Chaos happens at a private opening for the fashion photographer Pablo. Then things ignite between her and Pablo. The tension between these two is off the charts and there are some scenes in this book that make the temperature in the room rise. Add in that she again meets Omar, a man who is determined to make it on the music scene and one night stand for Layla, Mish a University student that she has put in the friend zone, as well as a cartel boss’ son and it make for a story that will at times keep you on the edge of your seat wondering what is going to happen next. There are also discussions on social and political issues. Will Layla find the man who will complete her? Layla begins to wonder if when she runs from situations, is it really from her heart? Read this story to find out how it turns out for Layla and the other characters. The author has written a book that is not only exciting to read it also makes you stop and think. My emotions went up and down with the characters. There are moments where my heart was hurting for the characters and others that had me wondering about the actions that some take. Don’t miss out a wonderful and exciting story. It is a book that I would read after the story Lie to Me. It makes understanding some situations easier. Highly recommended.

Shoot Me (Lie to Me #2)Shoot Me by Lynda Filler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Shoot Me is the second book in the Lie To Me Series by Lynda Filler. It is an incredibly good, action packed and fast paced story that will sweep you up on an exotic and erotic adventure, delivering you to Mexico to experience the sights, sounds and situations, right alongside the character/s. There is passion aplenty in this steamy book, as Layla takes us along on her journey. After the events in the previous book and having Mateo leave the way he did, left Layla more hurt than she would admit. She tries desperately to distract herself, but nothing seems to work for. So, Layla decides that heading to Guadalajara for a change in scenery will be just what she needs to get back on track.
What ensues is more than Layla could have imagined. With passion, friendship, danger, and many erotic experiences along the way. I really enjoyed the first book, so I was really happy to be able to continue Layla’s story. There is always a lot between the covers with Ms. Filler’s stories, and this book was no exception. Ms. Filler also manages to weave some political and social issues through her story, which alongside the other content of the story, really gave me things to think about. She paints rich and vibrant images of the scenery, from the lush and exotic, to the abject poverty, we get to ‘see’ it all right alongside the characters as the story unfolds. The author also did a wonderful job in infusing her story with emotion, and as with the previous book, I was quickly invested in these wonderful characters and their story.
A sexy, engaging, interesting and thought provoking read that also managed to tug at my heart-strings.
Well Done!

Thank you, Ms. Filler!

She meets new friends and is walking the steamy line of men not only that but danger seems to always be lurking. She made me feel as if I was right there with her and feeling what she was. She is in search of love but the problem is where she is looking, will she find it? I highly recommend reading this book.

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6) by Lynda Filler was a heart pounding, action packed page turner, that had me hooked from start to finish.

With each book I feel like it’s building up to something much greater. This one is no different, as strong as the others in this series I was once again sucked into this fast moving adventure. I couldn’t stop reading, I needed to know what was going to happen and if things would turn out the way I want them. Lynda Filler has a way of misdirecting you, and making your stress levels hit the roof.

I have to say, this series has been a joy to follow, even if it attacks my blood pressure. I will say that though these can be read as standalones, they do follow a connecting timeline and does have connecting plot elements. As with the other books, backstories are pretty much, not apart of the character development. So if you want to know more about Luke raben and his team, then you’re going to have to read the other books, that and, they are all pretty amazing.

With that said, I know I kept this vague, only because with such a fast moving plot, I didn’t want to ruin anything this story has to offer. Or ruin this exciting, heart attack involving, read. So please take my super high recommendation and my stamp of approval, that you will not be able to put this book down. It will capture you, not only your attention but, your heart and soul.

Happy Reading

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6)SILK ROAD by Lynda Filler
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Silk Road by Lynda Filler is book 6 on the Code Raven Series. I have read a few books in the series and have enjoyed reading them.

The books are fast paced and action packed. Silk Road is about children being kidnapped and either sold or used for prostitution. Luke and Luci are spending a few days in his private sanctuary in the Maldives. He has a family who stays there and does the upkeep for him. When their 2 young children are taken in the middle of the night, Luke knows he must act quickly.

Meanwhile in another area, Zach’s good friend Mike
needed help. They were all together in BUDS Training many years ago and kept in touch. Mikes daughter ran away at a young age and now she is reaching out to him because her son has been taken. He’s 13 years old and he is her life. When she calls Mike for help, she knows he’s her only chance. Mike and His daughter Katie have not spoken for about 13 years and when she finally reaches out she tells him she says “Dad, I need your help and bring your friends.”

Children are being taken all over the world but the raven group cannot seem to catch them. Things don’t add up every time they try.

Another teenager is taken but the authorities think it is an ala Kachuu which is a meeting of a bride and groom. However the parents know that is not the case.

Will the Raven Group be able to save these children and reunite them with their families while putting an end to the Russian Mob or will they be to late?

Well Ms. Filler has knocked my socks off once again with one of her Code Raven novels. This is the sixth installment in the series. I have absolutely fallen in love with this series. If you haven’t had the pleasure of reading the other books in the series you should be ok with picking up any book and starting. However, I would recommend that you read them in order for a higher enjoyment of the whole series.

In Silk Road we find the team embarking on another fast paced mission. This happens to be one of my absolute favorites that they have ever been on though. In the beginning all of our characters that we have grown to love are in different places. Luke has taken Samaar/ Luci to the Maldives for a little vacation. Himanish is currently in Geneva working on a troubling and mysterious situation. Here we find out that there are children that are disappearing, and this is happening all over the place. This becomes a globetrotting mission for the team. They will stop at nothing to figure out how to squash this newly discovered sex-trafficking ring. Of course the closer they get the more danger they will find themselves in. What will happen? Can they put a stop to it or will the lives of those they are trying to protect actually be in more danger, and will theirs be over too?

Thanks so much for another fantastic adventure Ms. Filler. I can’t wait to find out what will come next!

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6)SILK ROAD by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow what an action packed read this was! I have enjoyed this series so far but I have to say I think this may have been my favourite so far – I don’t think I took my eyes off the page for one minute! I loved the story line – it was engaging, complex, exciting and more. The characters were brilliant and I really likeable. The author really does do an amazing job of bringing her stories to life, her attention to detail is fantastic and I can always imagine what I am reading.
I loved reading about all of the members of Raven again (and great to meet some new ones too). I think I would definitely recommend that these books are read in order so as to fully understand how tight this group are and what they have been through together.
Silk Road is another fantastic read from Lynda Filler and I cannot wait to see what she comes out with next!!

Silk Road: Code Raven 6 by Lynda Filler – Review by Jenni Bishop

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6)SILK ROAD by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Silk Road: Code Raven 6 by Lynda Filler will keep you glued to the edge of your seat and is full of action and intrigue, mayhem and thrills and is a great next book in the series. I am loving this series that revolves around the Raven Group which is a team of special ops forces. There are multiple facets to this story, leading in a way that they all come together in the end. Lynda characters are well developed and it was great to revisit with some favs and meet some who are new. Who doesn’t like a great book that has everything, from suspense, danger and drama, covert ops and secrets, and life and death situations. It is a fast paced story that will have your heart hammering as we chase around the world to save the children. Lynda knows how to weave her magic and provide us with a story that is full of lots of twists and turns leaving you feeling intense emotions. This book is well written and addicting, with a storyline that is captivating. This book is one you will not want to walk away from. I can’t wait for the next book.

Silk Road by Lynda Filler – Review by Michelle Austin

SILK ROAD (Code Raven, #6)SILK ROAD by Lynda Filler
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Silk Road was a good 5 star read and book six in the Code Raven series.
There is so much going on in this read, you get pulled in by several different characters.
There is lots of action and on the edge of your seat thrilling moments. The theme of the story is about human trafficking and it just breaks your heart what these kids go through.

The Raven Group were a family with a higher life purpose. Luke would do anything for his family of warriors and misfits.

Luke, Luci and the rest of the Raven group become involved in helping find some missing children. Will they be able to find them before anything bad happens? Luke is also dealing with his feelings for Luci, will he be able to finally open his heart up and find love again?

All of the secondary characters added a great element to the story. If your looking for a great nail biting series with lots of detail this is the one for you. Lynda Filler does a great job with her writing and pulls you right in. I look forward to reading more from her.
