He’s a broken man searching through the past for answers.
She’s his childhood best friend he had no idea he was in love with.

Thomas Capshaw never thought he’d put his dreams of being a sketch artist on the back burner and end up working in New York City far from home. The very last thing he expects is the inheritance of his famous grandfather’s beach cottage on the sandy shores of Florida where he spent his childhood summers.

Emeline Fischer is an aspiring artist trying to make ends meet, working an assortment of odd jobs while painting her dreams on canvas in hopes of landing her own gallery show someday. When she is Thomas’s waitress during her shift at the local beach diner, she immediately recognizes her sensitive childhood friend who promised long ago to protect her from her unstable home life when they were teens.

The two friends take a journey into their past through a box of photos left behind at Cap Cottage and rediscover their mutual passion for art – and each other. Thomas doesn’t plan to fall in love with Emmy – but maybe he’s always been in love with her. Can he forgive himself for his past mistakes and start over in the only place that ever felt like home? Or will his guilt and the demands of his cutthroat, big-city career prevent him from following his heart and reuniting with the only woman he ever truly loved?

Taming the Troublemaker (The Hills of Texas Book 3) By Kadie Scott – Review by Katie Kearney

Taming the Troublemaker (Hills of Texas, #3)Taming the Troublemaker by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taming the Troublemaker (The Hills of Texas Book 3) By Kadie Scott. From the first page I knew I’d love the story of Autry and Beth each being a character I won’t soon forget. The chemistry they had jumped off the page and you could truly feel their connection on the pages. The author does a wonderful job of pulling readers in and making them forget its a book they are reading. This story can totally be read as a stand-alone without any confusion but please read the others simply because they are just as good. It’s well written and paced nicely never feeling rushed or lacking anything. I’m giving this story a five star review and highly recommend it to everyone.

Me and Cinderella (The Dirty Rooster Book 2) By Kelly Mooney. I loved this story. The characters had such a connection that I couldn’t help but feel like I was living the story instead of just reading it. It’s quite the emotional journey you are taken on with this authors words. This story can definitely be read as a stand-alone without any confusion but do yourself a favor and read the other one just because you’ll enjoy it also. This story had me completely hooked from page one. It’s well written and paced nicely with characters that pull you in completely. I’m giving this story five star review and highly recommend it.

Yes, I too would be Captivated by a millionaire lol. This was a really good short story. I didn’t feel like the author was rushing the characters to get to the point. The characters had a unique chemistry that went well together. Once old insecurities and hurts moved out the way. I really liked how different they were from each other. The author did really well in the pacing of this story. It flowed together and created an effortless romance. I really like Jess she reminds me of my best friend. She has such a carefree soul. The joy she brought by just being was beautiful. I believe she gave Jordan something he was missing from life.

Five Stars

Nothing says trust me like a guy that some what staked you through a rifle scope lol. This story was funny and a little weird. Hawk was what made it weird and the beginning was funny. I liked the characters and how the author setup the dynamics between Hawk and his team. Stella was okay I didn’t agree with how she kept enabling her brother. Family is everything but at some point you have to step back and say enough. The story was suspenseful and entertaining and the series so far has kept my attention. The author has a really great writing style and this story complements that.

This is a quick, but overall enjoyable read. Eliza has been through a lot! She focuses on finding safety for herself and daughter, Althea. Eliza seems to be sweet, strong, and an overall great character! I was immediately cared about her and couldn’t wait for her HEA. Eliza and Nathaniel had great chemistry, and I really enjoy reading their story!

Devil's Backbone (Wild Beasts Series Book 5)Devil’s Backbone by T. Birmingham
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

“It is when you stepped outside that safe world you’d created, into other’s perspectives, that the world became askew…”

The fifth book in the series, this paranormal fantasy can be read as a stand-alone. It is one of the shorter books in the series and gets right to the point.

It’s a complex tale and I think all of the main points of the story are explained in a quick and detailed manner so there is very little confusion as to who is who and what role they play. There are a few times that I found myself wondering if something came from one of the previous stories (which I’ve read).

The author’s writing is very descriptive and I am always able to play the movie in my head as I read along. There is a lot of symbolism in this story that at times I found reassuring and other times frightening. No matter my underlying feelings, overall there was always pleasure at what I was reading.

The way this book is formatted with sections and chapter headings was as intriguing as the story. The metaphors made what was about to happen an interesting twist to the read.

I’ve really enjoyed reading this entire series and based on the epilogue, the enjoyment is going to continue.

5-Stars

Captivated By The Millionaire is a sweet romance with a wonderful storyline. The main characters Jordan and Jess were wonderfully depicted. I loved the inner turmoil the two struggled with throughout the novel. It really helped develop their characters and their romance. Sonya, who is Jordan’s little sister, also stole my heart. She was precious. I also loved that the author depicted her with a hearing impairment. I felt that it made the book itself unique and unforgettable. She was a brave and fun child and I loved how she interacted with Jess. I really enjoyed this easy to read love story and I highly recommend it!

The Wicked Earl's WidowThe Wicked Earl’s Widow by Aubrey Wynne
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A Wicked Earl’s Widow by Aubrey Wynne was a great 5 star read and is book 2 in the Once Upon A Widow series.

Eliza was raised by a very abusive father who used her to make money. When she married her husband she wasn’t sure what to expect but was surprised at how kind he was to her. He ends up dying in a riding accident while she was pregnant. She is now being threatened by her father and she fears for her and her daughters lives.

Eliza ends up fleeing to a cousins home, while on the journey there she ends up helping an old woman against an attack. This is where she also meets Nathaniel who is impressed with her actions.Nathaniel was drawn to Eliza and he brought her to his estate.

Eliza was a very strong woman, we get some LOL moments, action, suspense and so much more in this historical romance. I was pulled right in and didn’t want to stop reading until I was done. All of the characters added a great element to the story. Overall I really enjoyed Eliza’s story. This can be read as a stand alone. If you like historical romance you will love this book.

Misfortune of Song (Druid’s Brooch #5) by Christy Nicholas
4 out of 5 Stars
The attention to detail in this book is astounding. This is the fifth book in the Druid’s Brooch Series. Each book can be read as a standalone but, as a reader, I highly recommend reading a book in series order to get the most out the series. Each book focuses on a new set of characters and their journey with the Brooch.
In this book we meet Maelan and his granddaughter Orlagh, in 12th Centruy Ireland. Maelan has found himself in a predicament. He is determined to protect his granddaughter, fulfill his obligation to his Chief and try to maintain and protect his family name.
When Orlagh goes off on her own, Maelan goes after her to save her from herself…but does she really need saving? Having to choose between his Clan and his last living family member, Maelan goes on the journey of a lifetime.

Between magic, Fae, and Maelan determined to go to the ends of the world to save his granddaughter, this book is nonstop action. I loved every last page of it and I have loved each book in the series. Highly Recommended!

Taming the Troublemaker (Hills of Texas, #3)Taming the Troublemaker by Kadie Scott
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Taming the Trouble Maker by Kadie Scott is a 5 out of 5 stars kind of read!! It is the 3rd book from the Hills of Texas Series. It definitely falls into the romance category. Autry is a ranching playboy. Beth is a school teacher. They went to the same school growing up, but their circles never combined so they were never friends. One night after a visit to the local pub, Beth locks her purse in Autrys truck resulting in a friendship of sorts. One night Beth needs a hand and Autry comes to her rescue, however lands himself in jail. Beth then comes to his rescue by suggesting to the crown he receives leniency and community service. Beth has a student, Dylan, whom is in foster care and is struggling inside and outside of school and Beth feels like a “big brother” would do him wonders. And so Autry becomes his “Big Brother”. This story was honest to goodness funny and uplifting. It gave me a lot of insight Into how a child in foster care really feels, and made me think about the difference companionship can make in a child’s life, and how a child can change a grown ups life. It was also nice to see that his story ends happy, because not all foster kids get a happy ending!

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Everyday Enchantments is a unique read, that I never expected to enjoy as much as I did. Maria DeBlassie is a new author for me and I can’t wait to see what else she writes and how it compare to this book. It is easy flowing, easy read that really makes you stop and think, and really appreciate certain things. This really is an interesting relaxing laid back read, that has a different style of writing that is different from most books I read, so that took me a while to get used, but I quickly got so captivated with reading that ended up finishing it before I could really take notice again. It was a book that covered a lot of topics, topics that made you think and look at things differently.

It’s a fascinating read that I highly recommend. I will definitely be reading this over again, just to take in the read and give it the extra appreciation it deserves. Don’t miss this read!

Vantage Point (Gray Ghost #4)Vantage Point by Amy McKinley
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Amy McKinley has done it again! I am loving the Gray Ghost series, and Vantage Point, book 4, is my new personal favorite. Hawk has always interested me, because he just seemed to have a good back story. He is quiet and mysterious, and I am glad the series featured his story. While at first I thought it was a little creeper that he was spying on his neighbor, it was sweet too. He had a reason, a gut feeling, and his acting on it may have saved her life, and brought them both happiness. This story is a romantic suspense, and has plenty of each. There is danger waiting around every corner for Hawk and Stella. I enjoyed the fact that Stella is a strong character, like all the women in the Gray Ghost series. She has been through a lot, and is tough, and has amazing family bonds. Highly recommend the book to other readers, and the whole series. And Amy McKinley, if you’re reading this, please keep going with the series! Amazon reads it as book 4 of 4, but I’m holding on to hope that it is false!

If I could, I would quote the author’s words verbatim from the very last page of this book. I would give that 27 stars on its own – paired with this amazing story…. there aren’t enough stars in the universe.

According to Merriam Webster ™
em·pa·thy | \ ˈem-pə-thē \
1 : the action of understanding, being aware of, being sensitive to, and vicariously experiencing the feelings, thoughts, and experience of another of either the past or present without having the feelings, thoughts, and experience fully communicated in an objectively explicit manner

This story has so many amazing layers and undertones. It is written in a way that is pure perfection. While it is set in an imaginary world in the future, there is nothing imaginary about it.

I want to write so much about this story. About how I whipped through it and read it at work and how it took me out of my head and the stuff that’s going on right now. About how I empathized with the characters and what they were going through and about how everyone should have to walk in someone else’s shoes before judging them (don’t get me started about how everyone should have to waitress, work retail, and clean toilets as a job at least once in their lifetime). This is one of those books that I will be recommending to everyone. It was FANTASTIC.

Here are 3 of my favorite quotes:

“Nobody chooses what they are, only what to make with it.”
“Anyone can be the chosen one; you just have to dare to be different.”
“We all feel so entitled to our pain that we make ourselves blind to everyone else’s.”

I’ve read stories by this author before and this is my favorite from her and is in my top 5 of 2019.

A Wicked Earl’s Widow is a historical romance novel written by Aubrey Wynne. This story apart of a series called Once Upon A Widow. Ms. Wynne does an amazing job writing historical novels. The variations between the character talks to the mannerisms Ms Wynne was flawless in the time period she was writing about. In this story there was a young woman, Eliza who her abusive father had her set to marry one Lord. When her first husband died, she was still in her in-laws under their protection and they took care of her and her newborn child. It was not until her father ran into financial problems did he tried to marry her off to a new man. Eliza has not had the easiest.life but she does deserve happiness. Will Eliza find her happiness? This is the fifth novel in the Wild Beasts series, they can be read as stand-alone, but I have to be honest and admit that I have read them in order. This was a great paranormal fantasy romance and has all the bones for being a great, but it just lacked a little something. Tess as a character was well done, she made you care about her and feel her emotions but some of the others just felt a little lacking. But I would recommend this as there is a great story to be read.

The story Me and Cinderella (The Dirty Rooster Book 2) by Kelly Mooney is a new adult/contemporary romance book. It is a story that is romantic and I loved reading. It has a way of pulling you in and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had finished the last page. I loved reading about the characters. He is caring, protective, and handsome. He left the town of Sugar Creek and has vowed never to live there again. Now he finds himself back to take care of his little brother. That is when he sees her again, Remington Ashby. He had always had a deep attraction to her. Will he take a chance and give into his emotions/feelings for her? Could there be a future between him and Remington? Read this book to find out. I enjoyed the bantering/back and forth that goes on between him and Remington. I also enjoyed how family is so important to the main male character. He would do just about anything for them and for Remington. I grew to care about the main male character as well as Remington. I wanted them to find happiness. The story is an emotional one and mine went up and down the entire time was I reading the book. This is the second book in a series however can be read as a standalone. It is a story that I would recommend reading.

Every book of this author’s that I have read I have absolutely adored, even if it’s not a particular thing I love to read about like m/m or m/f/m – there is just something about her writing that never fails to pull me in, Her characters are brilliant and always so different and in Turning the Tide this was no different! I loved Luke and Connie and I know I probably shouldn’t have loved Luke he is probably everything I dislike in a male lead, he did things I didn’t like and don’t approve of but Ms Alexander made me fall in love with him. She made me see that there are things that go on in people’s lives that we have no idea about and you definitely shouldn’t judge what people do or don’t do. I really took these characters in to my heart just as I have with the others from this series and it was lovely to see some of them again! This story could be read as a standalone but by reading the previous ones you will understand all the different relationships between the characters. I recommend this series 100% and Turning the Tide is a fantastic addition to it. As always I cannot wait to read whatever this author releases next!!

Linda Gets Her Groove Thing: A Spicy Romantic Comedy About the Afterlife (The Green Room Chronicles #2) by J.D. Frettier – Review by Sarah Oakes

Linda Gets her Groove Thing (The Green Room Chronicles #2)Linda Gets her Groove Thing by J.D. Frettier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about revenge. Linda is an airline hostess recently widowed from her husband. When she dies whilst making a phone call she ends up in the Green Room confused. But she soon makes friends and enjoys herself for once. Learning more about this new world she’s been thrown into, she discovers that there may be a way to get her revenge on her husband. Can she fulfil her dream even from the other side?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns. Well developed characters like Linda standing up for herself but still vulnerable and unsure underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the bubbly Bonnie or the funny and supportive Dee or the kind Edwina.
i loved the visual detail throughout the novel in its vivid sense of colour with the greens throughout for a bright and colourful version of the afterlife.
I also loved the sequel building on the original with new aspects to this fantastic world with the GreenTube and podcasts and the delivery man later on that are familiar but set in heaven instead and brilliant additions to the novel. I also loved the funny take on the spell later on clever use of words but still retaining the magical feel to it. I also loved the use of suspense over what Grey did to her, as she tells the story in intervals making you want to read on to find out what happened. I also liked the prologue and how she died doing something ordinary making it more realistic. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

Vantage Point ( A Gray Ghost Novel Book 4) by Amy McKinley – Review by Tausha Treadway

Vantage Point (Gray Ghost #4)Vantage Point by Amy McKinley

Vantage point ( Gray Ghost #4) By Amy Mckinley. This is the 4th installment in the Gray Ghost series and its one of my favorites. This is the story of Hawk Ares one of the most low key members of the Gray Ghost and is always low key with love until takes up for his neighbor Stella Klein. Stella is on a mission with her brother to find a family treasure and family is key to Stella. She will do whatever it takes for her family. When Stella is threatened from outside sources due to her brothers gambling debt Hawk is determined to keep her safe. Stella resists his help at first but as things get more heated she breaks down and asks him for help. Will Hawk keep Stella safe and will he let his guard down enough to have a relationship with her? These books are so full of mystery, drama and a little romance!

Captivated By The Millionaire by Nina Singh – Review by Kaitlynn Taylor

Captivated By The Millionaire (Mills & Boon True Love)Captivated By The Millionaire by Nina Singh

Captivated by the Millionaire- Nina Singh

4-stars

Captivated by The Millionaire is the first book I’ve read by Nina Singh, but it certainly won’t be my last! This romance read had me hooked from the beginning and wishing for a happy ending and I was not disappointed. Jess and Jordan’s story is sweet, emotional and steamy with a few twists and turns along the way which made for a really entertaining read.

The story flowed seamlessly, and all the detail made it easy for me to picture everything playing out in my mind. I would absolutely recommend this book to anyone looking for their next romance read, and I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!
