My mother’s only brother was sent up for robbery years ago, and now he needs Dad’s help to get his daughter out of trouble. It’s impossible for me to be sure that the pendant around Cousin Betty’s neck is stolen, but one thing’s for sure—she doesn’t want to talk about where it came from. When my cousin gets gunned down walking home and the necklace disappears, I realize I’m not only looking for a thief . . . I’m dealing with a murderer.

Journeys Through AllCreation (Journeys Through Book 3) by James Talisman – Review by Carrie Reed

Journeys Through AllCreation (Journeys Through Book 3)Journeys Through AllCreation by James Talisman
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars!

Well this was fun. With my attention span I did get lost a couple of times but I easily caught back up. I really enjoyed reading of Matt and Rashella out to save the world again, and to rescue their mentors, it just sucked seeing Matt have to leave his partner Julia and their young daughter Rachael. Little Rachael seems like a sweetie! I love that the author gave her the powers she has, I literally wish I had those same powers! Did not care for Sebastian, I hate that he had the power he did, it seems like he could destroy all the worlds if he wanted to with his suggestions. The whole book was one rollercoaster through the different worlds and meeting all kinds of different players. The adventure, action and journey of it all came together nicely in the end. I wouldn’t read this as a standalone so that you can get background on most of the characters and to figure out what has happened before. I would really like to see a story with Matt, Julia, Rachael, Rashella, Dan etc. but older with Rachael grown up and using her powers to help her dad. I really want to praise this author, the work, detail and complexity of this book and the whole series so far really blows my mind, and the talent it takes to make it all work and flow together is truly amazing, it definitely made for a very enjoyable read.

Seven Strengths: A Tale from TurasetSeven Strengths: A Tale from Turaset by P.L. Tavormina
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

5 stars!!

Wow! What a wild world, Turaset. I was so invested in Celeste’s life and world. It’s the same old thing we hear all the time, the grass is not always greener on the other side. I can understand Celeste feeling suffocated living in the countryside, she dreams of more, and I was pleased to see her get the opportunity to live in the city. It was exciting to see her find her way, meet Enzo, form a friendship with Nora and gain the knowledge she always wanted to bring back to her home. Enzo, he’s a mess, I had my fingers crossed constantly that Celeste would stop being naive and get rid of him. In the end I think she made a good decision on what she wanted to do with her life and how she wanted to be and I really hope we get to see more of Nora and Celeste and her family. This world, the things that happen and the creatures all make for an interesting read, I highly recommend!

Weep, Woman, Weep: A Gothic Fairytale about Ancestral Hauntings by Maria DeBlassie – Review by Carrie Reed

Weep, Woman, WeepWeep, Woman, Weep by Maria DeBlassie
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

4 stars!

Great read, I was so hooked on this story! The way Mercy grew up and lived is very sad, I kept hoping things would get better for her, and hoping something would change and her friend Sherry would snap out of it. Mercy overcomes so much, all the pain from her past, the way the town picks on her and makes her an outcast, the way La Llorona keeps messing with her to remind her she is still there. Watching her preserve and make a life and a name for herself that she can be proud of is beautiful. I was heartbroken that her and Sherry could never be what they once were, but happy she was finally able to see it was not her fault, and that she could finally move on. Meeting Santos helped push her further into a life without thinking constantly of La Llorona and a life free from weeping. Excellent book, I would highly recommend.

UN)Loved (Mixed Emotions Series) by Katy Hunter – Review by Cindy Mayberry

The things we tell ourselves can be a nightmare. Sophia Smith, actress, fell in love with her co-star Gil. Then met up with a grumpy Llama and the air for which comes with the French Mountains. On one family night she met Gil’s Parents. Boy, they were something, unlike any parents I have ever met. This author writes that, must read romance with flair. Your emotions will be all over the place, happy, sad, angry and laughter. Her story was a quick read, as in I could not put it down. Where this book ends I am sure the next in the series starts. I am looking forward to reading this series. No Spoilers will be found here!

(UN)Loved (Mixed Emotions Series) by Katy Hunter – Review by Kerry Carr

(Un)Loved (Mixed Emotions, #1)(Un)Loved by Katy Hunter
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Mixed Emotions series. I really enjoyed this romance but it was a really emotional ride. The author did a great job at bringing to light the difficulties that both characters had. I really enjoyed how the characters were open and communicated with each other really well about what they needed. I found it refreshing when Gil and Sophie decided to take a break to work on themselves and their problems so they could come back together in a better way. That was really refreshing instead of them staying in what would have become a toxic relationship.

Overall the story flowed nicely and held my attention from beginning to end. I was rooting for them to work through their problems so they could be together. It was also nice seeing Sophie grow and figure out what she truelly wanted in life and then not be afraid to go for it.

Doctor D’s Orderly Affair (Doctors of Eastport General) by C.A. King – Review by Dr. Anya Schultz

Doctor D's Orderly AffairDoctor D’s Orderly Affair by C.A. King
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Doctor D’s Orderly Affair is a short (very quick read) about a doctor with a bad boy, one-night stand reputation and an orderly, named Emily’s romantic endeavor. I want to be able to give you a summary of this book, but I am left a little perplexed on how to write it without spoilers or confusing people. When I first chose to read this book between the summary and the front cover I was really looking forward and intrigued. I have to say I was pretty disappointed and thought if written a little more concisely and with more detail, it could have been an amazing book. As I read others’ reviews of this, maybe I missed something, but I felt the read left a lot to be desired.

At the beginning as we were learning about the characters I was truly enjoying the story, there was youth, fantasy, but also some tragedy. I really enjoyed the innocence of Emily and the tender side of Dr. D. However, the two story lines that are present, a possible mysterious sex encounter and also the doctor’s dying nephew, confused me. The confusion mainly came at the end where I think certain things felt left out – the whole journey really. Did he mend things with family, how Emily handled not seeing him for years, etc. I feel those were important chapters (that could have been done shortly), because when I got to the last chapter I was confused thinking I missed a chapter and went back to check. Nope, the author decided to just some it up quickly with little explanation in the final chapter.

In addition, thinking that this was a steamy, sex story was also a little disappointing. My fantasy may be more extreme than others, but I felt there was not enough detail in the sex scene (only being one sex scene). After the vibrator scene I was really looking forward to the real sex scene and just felt not enough visualization could come from the description. I am not saying that I won’t read something from this author in the future, but this book was a little bit of a let down for me.

This was a truly fun and entertaining romance read. It had everything I look for in a romance read, it was relatable (ish), witty, funny and of course steamy.

Right from the get go I felt connected to Sophie, her internal dialogue had me laughing out loud, she wore her heart on her sleeve and her witty remarks really added to her charm.

I really enjoyed the push and pull of their relationship, constantly wondering how it was all going to play out. And I’m really happy with how it played out.

I look forward to reading more from this author in the future!

I loved reading this story. This is a new author for me which I look forward to reading more from this author in the future. This is a well written story where the characters pulled me in from the beginning. They kept the story not only engaging but entertaining to read. This is a fast paced story that kept me coming back for more. This was a hard to put down story where the author used details to make the story easy to read. This is a story about Faith and Nico. Faith is a Christian young woman who starts to fall for her Uncle’s apprentice. Nico is excited about the position he took with his Uncle but it could cost him his freedom when a friendship turns romantic. They are great characters who brought the story to life. They have great chemistry and growth throughout the story. This is a must read story that you will fall in love with. It is written with a lot of heart and soul. This is a really great story and I highly recommend it.

So Right

I think Amara and Petro’s story is my favorite in this series.  I love the older woman scenario and who wouldn’t love a large loud family?   They definitely made me think of our family get togethers over the years.

Amara and Petro both have had their hearts broken, and unwilling to go through that again so their feeling for the other kind of blind side them.

There were so many things about their story I enjoyed and holy cow were there some hot moments.  This author was able to make me picture so many scenes clearly and think that only added to my enjoyment of the book.

Great book to go with a great series.

Jeremy and Regan have chemistry galore! These characters are so well written by the time the story is over they feel more like friends than characters in a book. I felt connected to them and was really invested in how their story played out. I couldn’t stop reading because I had to know what was going to happen next. The whole book is well written. There is plenty of details to really pull you into the story. There’s some twists and turns to keep you engaged, which wasn’t a problem at all with this book. I highly recommend!

This is such a sweet, original love story. I really enjoyed this book. It brings together two people that don’t care too much for each other until they’re forced to work together undercover. Amara and Petro are forced to get to really know each other. That’s when the sparks start to fly and they realize there’s more to each other than they originally thought. I really enjoyed watching their feelings grow. The characters are so great in this story and it tackles the difficulties and hesitations some people have when it comes to getting involved with someone when there’s an age difference.

They are from completely different worlds and neither of them are looking for a relationship but they can’t stop thinking about each other. They face so many obstacles and twists and turns along the way to their hoped for fairytale ending. Can they work through their differences to make it work? The heart wants what the heart wants…
So Right is the fifth book in the Love Grows series by Renee Regent. This is a superb contemporary romance with ‘fake fiancé’, office romance, and reverse age gap elements.
Amara Gabriel desperately wants to prove that she is ready for a promotion, and to do so she agrees to pretend to be engaged to her much younger and very hunky co-worker, Petro Mikalos. She isn’t sure their engagement will be believable, as she is a decade older than Petro, but seeing that it is her boss’s idea she just goes with it. While Petro has crushed on Amara from afar, so he is only too happy to play the part of her doting fiancé. Their ‘assignment’ has them heading to California- which is where Petro’s family live- Petro has been estranged from his movie producer father for 3 years, but he knows that a visit will be expected while in California. The more time they spend together, the harder it is to remember their relationship is fake. Can anything real come from pretending to be in love? Well as fate would have it…..
A wonderful addition to the series which seem to get better and better with each new instalment.
Happy Reading!

Thank you, Renee Regent!

Wow, this story was sizzling. Between the fake engagement, being co-workers, and the job assignment of a lifetime, there’s plenty to love and swoon over. Amara is actually ten years older than Petro, but that isn’t bothering him. He has been crushing over his co-worker for a while. They are given an assignment to check out a property that their company wants to acquire. While on this trip, they step away from their job personas and get to know each other on a more personal level. If you love the forbidden romance, this one is for you. Great love story!

Who doesn’t love a story with a supernatural twist where paranormal and MC’s meet? Paranormal is my first love but MC’s and their alpha men make me swoon to. Throw in some firefighters and I was ready to dig in and start the story.
There is plenty of pain and suffering, drama and angst and suspense and insta attraction and one cute little boy that melts hearts. The chemistry between the two main characters is undeniable but they both have pasts that may just keep them apart.
Stitch is a man haunted by the horrors his past that have scared him in more ways than one. Grace has had bad experiences in the past will she be able to turn to the Grimm Wolves MC when needed.
I am interested to see what the future holds for the Grimm Wolves MC.

This is such a cute read! A fake dating to lovers, age gap romance that is such a sweet story. Amara has been stung by love and vowed to not let herself be in that position again. Petro has been focused so much on work, he doesn’t have time to venture into dating. When the two of them are assigned to pretend to be engaged, what could possibly develop between them? This book reminded me of a Hallmark movie and it’s a very easy to read book. Even though it’s book 5, it’s a great stand alone novel and doesn’t require you to read the previous books in the series.

Can they convince people that they are engaged to be wed? Amara doesn’t think it is possible, but with the possibility of a promotion in sight she couldn’t pass up this opportunity. It didn’t hurt that the man slated to play her fake fiancée, Petro, was movie star handsome. Petro is looking to prove that he is good enough to make it on his own. When he finds out that he has an opportunity to make a good impression and possibly get a promotion he jumps at the opportunity. The upside to this impromtu trip is that he will get to spend more time with Amara. The downside is that it will be in California where his family resides. Will they be able to pull this off without a hitch? Or will their fake romance turn into something more?

I just want to start this off by saying that I have a hard time trying books by authors I have never heard of before. This is the first time I have read anything this author has written and I enjoyed it immensely.
