Seven Strengths: A Tale from Turaset (The Industrial Age) by P.L. Tavormina – Review by Erica Shoebridge

Seven Strengths: A Tale from TurasetSeven Strengths: A Tale from Turaset by P.L. Tavormina
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is a really great little story that I devoured in one sitting. Celeste is a driven 17-year-old daughter of innkeepers, who yearns to escape the life determined for her by her parents. Bored and tired of laundering sheets, cooking meals, and butchering animals, she hopes to be a teacher in the local school and have a home of her own. When she is offered a two-year college program in the city to expand her mind (and see what is beyond the small country town she knows) she moves hell and highwater to get there. Things are very different in the city, and she starts to wonder if the fears her parents held about leaving her town might not have been as baseless and silly as she thought.

Celeste’s adventure and the way her education shaped her were interesting and layered. Her ability to learn and synthesize new information, and then be able to reflect on how that knowledge has changed her was very mature and a high-level way of thinking that endeared me to her character. Dear authour, this better be a series, because the novel is great in so many ways, and I can see so many directions this book could take from the ending. The possibilities for plot paths were spinning in my mind once I got to the end. I will be seeking out further books by this writer for sure.

Faithful in Love (Cliff Walk Cousins Book 1) by Cecily K. Wolfe – Review by Kerry Carr

Faithful in Love (Cliff Walk Cousins, #1)Faithful in Love by Cecily K. Wolfe
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in the Cliff Walk Cousins series. I really enjoyed this historical romance. The author does an amazing job of transporting the reader back to the 1900s. The writing makes you feel like you are backing living in that era.

This is the story of Faith and Nico. Faith comes from a very priviledge background. Growing up Faith and her cousin Thomas have always been close however as they get older someone threatens that relationship. That person is Nico.

Nico is so happy to get the apprenticeship at Will Travers architects. Things seem to be going good. Even better once he sets his eye on Faith.
As their relationship grows, Thomas decides this relationship can’t happen so trys everything in his power to stop them being together. However his attempts may not matter when a accusation of thief comes again Nico.
Now with Nico’s freedom in jepody can Faith keep her belief and trust in God to save the man she loves or will she lose it all?

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Amber Poole

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #3)Doctor in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the 3rd book in this series and it did not disappoint. I love seeing each of the Carruther siblings find love and happiness. At first I thought the predictability of the stories (by the end of the book we know who the next installment in the series will be about), would take away from my enjoyment but it doesn’t. That is actually my favorite part. These siblings seem to all be successful, good to each other and their community. Opening their hearts to other people romantically seems to be where their trouble lies. It was no different for Scott. I was so engrossed in his and Franceen’s story. Both characters grew so much and I’m so happy that they were able to come together and let love happen. I look forward to seeing where the next installment takes us with the Baby of the Carruther siblings Yolanda

I have really loved the Welcome to Bunya Junction novels so far but this one has to be my favorite yet! I really needed a feel good love story and this one just had all the right boxes ticked for me when I needed it most. This author has a wonderful knack for writing amazing scenery that takes me away to the Outback of Australia and honestly who doesn’t need that, especially in the middle of the winter in Nebraska. I absolutely fell in love with Scott and was really rooting for him happily ever after the whole time. I can’t wait to see what we will get next!

This was such a sweet story. I really connected with Franceen, having gone through what she went through and fighting for “normal”…I like how both Franceen and Scott let the attraction build. This book makes a very sweet, moving afternoon read.

This is my first read by this author and this book was fun! Two actors who start off as just costars, but what happens when love gets involved? Sophie didn’t plan on falling for Gil, it just happened. Will he return her love? Or friend zone her to keep things professional? This book was a fun read, but I do wish there was a little more drama to it, especially involving Emily. Good read!

Gil and Sophie just finished wrapping up their movie. These two have amazing chemistry on and off the set. Sophie is used to being alone and Gil is afraid of commitment. There are a lot of obstacles in the way of these two while trying to see if a relationship is what they want. There are a lot of great characters in this book. I loved Gil’s family and even some of the animals. There is good character growth in this story for both Sophie and Gil. Will Sophie decide what she wants to do? Will Gil work out his commitment issues? This story had funny moments, romance, twists and turns and was written in such a way that I was pulled right in. The author kept me entertained throughout the entire story. I enjoyed this author’s writing style. I recommend reading this story.

I love this series! Doctor in the Outback did not disappoint!
Franceen and Scott are two broken souls, and because they are broken souls, they are two doctors who work too much. This is their story we are navigating. The author does a wonderful job bringing these two characters together.
Are they able to heal one another?
I will also say that the bombshell at the end has me excited about what book 4 can bring.
This book can work well as a standalone novel, if you haven’t tinkered into this series at all. You don’t need to read the others for this to make sense. Even though that’s exactly what I would encourage you to do. To read all of them. This is book 3, books 1 & 2 are well worth it!

This book was a very cute read. This is my first book—to my knowledge—by Katy Hunter. But she is definitely one I will read again based on this book. Sofie and Gil. What can I say about this book? The connection is present from the beginning. This book has very realistic themes and it was a nice change for the high fantasy kick that I have been on. I loved seeing them together and how they progressed in their relationship. If you are looking for a cute realistic read this is definitely one you need to read.

Love this book! The story was perfectly imperfect. The characters were real and full of life. Sophie seems to have it all or is all she has not what she wants. Guillaume is her costar and gorgeous. The attraction is there, but would they give in. Are they even headed in the same direction? I can’t wait to read the book!

This was a fun read and quite enjoyable. I really loved the characters of Sophie and Gil…and their connection, first as friends….then turns quickly into something more. Gil decides to take Sophie home to France to meet his family and here the story takes off. Both Sophie and Gil have some underlying issues personally, but I found that these were easy to truly connect myself with the characters. With Gil’s hesitation to commitment what will happen with Gil and Sophie? Read and find out….I dont want to give away any spoilers….true fun read. I must say though I LOVED Gil’s family 🙂

The Ghastly Gumball by Naomi Valkyrie – Review by Francis O’Sullivan

The Ghastly GumballThe Ghastly Gumball by Naomi Valkyrie
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Ghastly Gumball is a fun paranormal romance. It’s a quick read – novella-length with short chapters – so great for a cosy afternoon or night in.
I’ve enjoyed this author’s work before, drawn by the diverse LGBT+ representation. The Ghastly Gumball again features multiple same-sex relationships which is fantastic!
I like that in this book we get a character who is totally clueless to the magic in the world around him who is suddenly dragged into the complicated and amazing world of witches and daemons and shifters. It’s messy and confusing for Lockwood but he figures things out, eventually, with a lot of help.
There’s plenty of tentacles in this, if you’re into tentacles. And I have to say an octopus daemon isn’t something I’d ever considered before, and Clyde is a great character!
This book gets five stars from me! If you’ve enjoyed other books by this author, such as the Life Is Hell series, you’ll love this! And if not, this is a great place to start!

I really enjoyed this book, from a personal perspective. I loved the way the story flowed and came together. It was different! I was not sure what to expect when I first engaged in it. I loved the science fiction part of the story, the more I read, the more the book called to me, and made me want to read more!

The book was full of stories to say the least. I found the book brought on a lot of emotion for me. I was quite impacted by the words that I was reading. It had its realistic side, and you truly felt what the words being spoke were Truly felt by myself as the reader. The story was hard to put down, I was very much wondering what would happen next as I read, my mind wanted to satisfy its wonder. I really enjoyed this book and getting to enjoy a new author, They crafted a story of a universe that was unlike any other. I would say this is for sure a must read, and one that would be enjoyed on every level by all.

Amazing read. And defiantly was different than what I expected it to be at first glace. It made the amazement I received that so much more wonderful! I highly recommend reading this book as well as checking out this gifted author, neither are ones to be passed up!

This book brought out so many emotions that I couldn’t even wrap my mind around all of them. Sophie seems like such a shy girl at first but she’s beautiful, smart, and funny. G is tall, handsome, and smart and you root for them to be together the whole time. But when they get together so many problems and drama ensue. The real question is can Sophie and G conquer the problems and drama or will it rip them apart? Full of great characters, fantastic writing and more trust me when I say that you won’t be disappointed when you pick up this story.

Unchecked: A Steamy Love Triangle Love Romance by Carina Alyce – Review by Lorrene Huisman

Unchecked (MetroGen Downtown Kiss and Tell, #1)Unchecked by Carina Alyce
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This author is amazing in every which way. They created a story that gave that true wow factor, and gave that passion and spice you long for. And quite frankly, most of us only dream about. I was amazed and on the edge of my seat as I read. I could not get enough, constantly wanted more!

I loved Dr. Stella Magi! She was exceptional in every which way. She had spunk passion, and had not one, but 3 men she was sleeping with! She made the balance with all 3 work so well. She is a good hearted doctor, who enjoys fun. After some time she realizes she wants something serious. Which man would be best suited for her? Something unexpected does come up which could really impact her decision and where tings are to go from there! I was on the edge of my seat, making my kindle swear with various scenes through out my reading. That ending, holy cow! I need to know what is going to happen, I know I have to find out what happens next! And I certainly can not wait! Amazing book!

If your looking for a book, that will touch every good feeling part on your body as well as give that spice you long for, then read this book! It is a must read for so many reasons. And certainly not one to be passed up. And for sure its a high recommendation from me as well as this author!

This story was a wonderful and pleasant read. I really enjoyed it. I loved how things progressed at a rate that was not too slow, and not too fast. Everything fit into together well. I loved the writing style of this beloved author as well. This author created a wonderful story that was very realistic and I really enjoyed it!

Loved the romance side of the story. I loved the growing relationship between Grace and Ian. The heart knows what it wants, especially if everything you have been looking for is right there in front of you. Ian is more than he appears. Grace suspects underneath that smile, there is something more, but what? I could not put this one down. I had to keep reading to see what surface from Ian’s side and how it would affect his relationship with Grace and how it would affect her entirely. The story was appealing in more than one way, the suspense was defiantly there. Was defiantly a must read! I freaking loved this book!

Everything about this book, was amazing. I had trouble putting it down to do routine things. It really was a sensation of a read. I highly recommend this must read as well as this must read author!

I ended up liking the book but I had a really hard time coming to terms with Sophie’s character. Sometimes when a character’s internal issues overtake them as a character, it gets in the way of my enjoyment of the story. While this is personal preference, it happened during the first half of the book for me. I understood that a lot of her issues stemmed from her parents but it just took away something for me in connecting with her. Gil was the best part of this book for me. Overall, I liked this book and would read others by this author.

Sophie and Gil’s love story is beautiful and heart-wrenching. The author does an amazing job of balancing reality and fantasy in this story. This couple faces a variety of challenges to even get close to being near their HEA. Making them work for it, for each other made it more real. I loved this story. I can’t wait for more in this series. I am (not so) secretly hoping that there will be another book dedicated to these two when Gil returns to his job or Sophie encounters some hunky billionaire when she finds the thing she wants to do.

This was a first time author for me, and certainly shall not be my last. I loved this author’s way of engaging the reader and writing. I found the book itself light and funny. And it certainly had a lot of heart that was for sure enjoyable. It was a fun read that made me smile, well, a lot!

As I have said I loved how the story flowed, and the way one thing led to the next. The characters were adorable as well. Both Sophie and Gil had their own cuteness within them. I enjoyed watching them interreact together. The characters outside their relationship greatly contributed as well! Love when you got a good strong team outside the book’s main center of the couple. I enjoyed seeing what would happen next after something occurred. The book was a fast read for me, things led to another rather quickly, and I could not put this down as wondering really where Sophie and Gil would end up! Enjoyed this story very much, and I felt happy feelings as I read. Loved it!

Wonderful book, and I officially have a new author that I need and can stalk haha. I loved how the story came together and the author’s writing really made this story come to life I really highly recommend reading this cute and fun story! As well as highly recommending this wonderful author!

This book was an interesting read. I typically don’t like more than one perspective or narration, but this author pulled it off. It does reflect a lot on past books, which I haven’t read yet but have so I can, so I definitely think it should be read in order as the series progresses. I like the characters. I also like that even though it’s a paranormal romance, it’s heavier on the paranormal and the romance is there and beautiful but not unrealistically over the top…

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This is the first book in a new series by an author that is new to me. The cover and the blurb both appealed to me, so I decided to give this book, and the author, a try. I now have a new author to add to my ‘I will read again’ pile as I really enjoyed this book.
Gil (G) and Sophie (Shee) are both characters that I really liked, although I did want to slap G a few times. They are well written and their antics kept me engaged and entertained throughout the book. The book can be a little angsty at times as Sophie is unsure of Gil’s feelings towards her. But who doesn’t love a little angst?
For me, I enjoyed this book most when at Gil’s parent’s home in France. I really enjoyed the camaraderie between Gil and his siblings and parents and also how they welcomed Sophie into their family and treated her like one of them. At this point you see a very different side to Sophie compared to how you would think a millionaire actress would behave. She just wants to feel part of a family as she was never close to her own. It’s a very enlightening time for Sophie and I really enjoyed reading about this.
Definitely recommend this book.

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, Book 3) by Nicole Flockton – Review by Wendy Wary

Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #3)Doctor in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

Having not read the previous two books in this series, I picked this up for a quick read and found the story works as a standalone without feeling like I’ve missed out on anything. This is a slow sizzle and burn between a doctor who’s looking for a fresh start away from city life, Franceen, and her boss, Scott, a doctor and hospital administrator who has seen people come to the rural area but ultimately leave after missing the city. Both feel like a relationship with the other is a bad idea for several reasons, despite the obvious chemistry that keeps pulling them together.

I really enjoyed the author’s depiction of the scenery and the complications and benefits of small-town/rural living. I found both of the main characters’ protestations to getting into a relationship a bit repetitive; while it wasn’t far-fetched to imagine them having such reservations, they both seemed to recite the same things to themselves whenever the attraction was kicked up a notch with new interactions. When they finally give in to their mutual attraction, a sweet relationship ensues, but I found it a little bit lacking that they didn’t really communicate those reservations they had to begin with. Like, both characters just looked for context around them to accept the obstacles they envisioned might not really be obstacles instead of talking to each other about those things.

It was a pretty good story, overall, though, with lots of sweet points along the way – some of the patients Franceen encounters, Scott’s interactions with his sister and her babies, etc.

This is a cute romance story that I enjoyed. A shorter story that is packed full of fun and love. This is an author that I never hesitate to pick up. I have loved reading her books from the start. They are engaging and well written. This story is no different. The characters pulled me in from the beginning and had me coming back for more. This is a fast paced romance story that is hard to put down. The characters are relatable and really packs a punch throughout the story. A small town, second chance romance that has great growth throughout the story. I enjoyed the chemistry between the characters as well as how loveable they were. I really enjoyed this story as it is entertaining and the characters bring life to the story. This is a great Valentine’s Day story that will warm up your day. Doctor in the Outback (Welcome to Bunya Junction, #3)Doctor in the Outback by Nicole Flockton
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Another great addition to the Welcome to Bunya Junction series. This book follows Dr. Scott Carruthers, who is running a busy small town hospital. He has recently hired Dr. Franceen Lewis as an obstetrician, a woman who is fighting a horrific loss of a child and faces her demons daily with her choice in profession. They both have immediate attractions to the other but the work dynamic poses some complications. Scott and Franceen are lovable characters and their chemistry is beautiful. Scott is an admirable man who shows Franceen that there are men in the world willing to open up and care without hesitation for true love. Their story is wonderful and focuses mostly on their dynamic with a sprinkling of the other great characters of Bunya Junction that we’ve met along the way with this series. I definitely recommend Doctor in the Outback for a quick romantic read.
