Murder At Music Hall is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery Series. This is a Dark Crime that is packed with action, murder, mystery, suspense and so much more. I’m a fan of this author and their style of writing along with great attention to detail and realistic, yet fully developed characters. They make the story come to life. I felt like I was apart of the story. This is a fast paced story that will have you turning the pages till the end. I literally read this in one afternoon because I had to know what was going to happen next. I highly recommend reading this book and I look forward to reading more from this Author.

One can truly underestimate what the human body is able to take. Well, most people anyway. Not this author. She will take the human body and spirit right to the very edge and then slowly walk it back to sanity. Amazing.
Tim is thriving in his position. But Chase takes care of family. So Tim agrees to go Maine to care for a friends’ partner. Tim meets a traveling nurse helping out at the same hospital. They bond over everything from patient care to being from DC to movies to food. They just get each other. Tim is truly smitten and takes it slow. He doesn’t want to spook the best thing that ever happened to him.
Willow started as a traveling nurse shortly after her relationship to a possessive, controlling, abusive doctor ended with an intervention from her brothers. These contracts only took Willow away for 3 months at time but they kept her on the move and from building attachments to anyone. Until Tim. Tim sparked things in her that no one had ever before. When he left her in Maine, She took a long hard look at what she wanted and what she wanted was Tim. Willow reached out to him in DC.
Tim’s return home began with an exploding bus. Things only got more complicated from there. A colleague reached to discuss a growing problem of possible contaminated chemo drugs. As the mystery grew, so did Tim and Willow’s relationship. But Willow didn’t want to stop being Willow. Just as their relationship was taking new steps, Willow was requested for a new contract position in California. It was only 13 weeks. Could Willow and Tim make it that long?
As Willow started her new job, Tim clasped 3 miles from the end of the annual marathon he ran honoring his mother. Upon examination, it was more than just the sinus infection and exhaustion Tim thought it to be. It was lymphoma. Willow had to make the choice, return home to be with Tim or risk everything to stay? Willow chooses love.
As Tim gets worse, the conspiracy to flood the market with under-effective or contaminated chemo drugs is revealed. As the players are identified, there are many surprises. Relationships are destroyed. People are not who they were thought to be. Money and power lust rule. Will Tim survive? Can their new love overcome the trials?
This one was a little heavy with all the medical jargon and procedures but it all turns out to be necessary to the story. Great recurring cast of characters. Can’t get enough of Flynn!! Love how the Chase family takes care of their own. Another fantastic addition in this series!!

Make Me Burn is the ninth book in the North Fork series by Alicia Street. This is another steamy, heart-warming, and well-written contemporary romance that has a billionaire romance element, a second chance, brother’s (ex) best friend/(ex) best friend’s little sister, forbidden, grudges, history (between MC’s), chemistry, spice, tension, emotion, intrigue, and finding love unexpectedly. As I love Ms. Street’s stories, I dove in as soon as this hit my Kindle, then pretty quickly realised that I knew this story because I had already read it a few years ago when it was part of the ‘Irresistible Weddings’ Anthology. I am definitely not sorry to have reread it again now, and have enjoyed it just as much this time round as I did when I first read it. This is Jinx D’Alessio and Logan Bennett’s story- and they take us on quite a heartwarming tale, with just enough drama and angst to keep things interesting. Logan is in town for a friend’s wedding and certainly never expected to see his ex-best friend’s little sister, now all grown up and very enticing. The waters were very muddied after his falling out with her brother, but the bro-code doesn’t apply anymore- does it? – so game on. Jinx grew up having the biggest crush on Logan, but now he’s the whole package. But with her romantic history, she might be about to get burned. What happened? Well, it proved to be a very enjoyable story with plenty of heart. This is a novella length story, which made for a very quick and easy read. Happy Reading…

Heart stopping from A to Z. From page one the dedication the incredible Alyndra Quinn informs the writer that Zachary and Ashton get there happily ever after. Only she keeps out the gut wrenching struggles it takes them to reach it. Once again, the dual perspective of Zachary and Ashton takes you on an emotional journey. While this could be read as a standalone honest book one gives the foundation that this power couple was built on and the beginning of their journey into uncharted territory together. Picks up at the end of book one. Ashton never anticipated shopping with Zachary and in an erotic wonderland she finally enjoys shopping for once. Zachary, while unsure at first about the actual relationship aspect, enjoys it more than he ever thought. She fills the part of his life he never realized was missing until she fell in his lap and filled them for him. He gives her more than she ever anticipated and flourishes under his watchful care. Until, a short three months later one miscommunication, and he falls into the clutches of heartbreak thinking it’s all been fake, built on lies for the benefit of his main rival. Ashton on the other hand is heartbroken at not knowing how to get him to listen to her, to let her explain and prove that it was all real. As quickly as everything began it starts to crumple the fires and longing, keeping them, both connected while their heads battle with their hearts. How do they reach their happy ending? Can Ashton have it all, the man, and the career? What will happen when Zachary’s rival uses what’s his as a pawn? Intriguing, well-written mystery, though long-winded at times. I generally enjoyed this read and felt the author tied the story together well. There was plenty of intrigue and ultimately loved the way everything came together in the end. The author really pulls the reader in with the engaging writing style and with action right away.
Retired detective and curren private investigator Trueman North is a likable character, with a past, that will make a great cornerstone for this series. He is on the case to discover the killer of timpanist—even though someone is already in jail.
While the story was engaging and the main character is likable for a series starter, I did feel there were parts of the book that were wordy and read slowly and I found myself urging the story along. This isn’t overwhelmingly negative and could also be a reflection of just wanting to know what was going to happen next, but nonetheless I did feel it could be a bit more succinct in places.
Overall I recommend this as the plot and culmination of the story was very well done.

Medical drama in Book form! I am here for it! I enjoyed all of the previous books I have read by this author and this one wasn’t any different. The main draw to this book for me was the suspense. Our main characters found out someone was tampering with chemo medication and they work together to find the culprit. It is definitely a dangerous route because the bad guy is fine with hurting people but their lives being in danger isn’t enough for them to stop trying to take them down. I enjoyed both mcs and their overall story. I am looking forward to reading more by this author! Happy Reading!

Full of steam, suspense, and family adventures Fearless Love will have all of your emotions running high. I have read this entire series and Fletcher has yet to disappoint. In fact, with every novel I love her writing more and more. She keeps you on your toes, wanting more. Her characters are full of spunk, down to heart, and memorable. I highly recommend not only this novel, but this entire series to anyone looking to fall in love with a small town family whose hearts are like gold.

As a first read by this author and the first book in a series Murder At Music Hall nailed it! The story was engaging and had a hook that I wasn’t expecting. The characters were well thought out and the plot played out nicely without being overly drawn out! I will definitely be back for more!!

Basil is the first book I’ve read in the Silver Spring Pets series, or by this author in general. That being said, I had no idea what to expect. I’m a huge fan of your “typical” vampire story and was skeptical of such a unique take on the topic. I ended up really enjoying this book and the characters, especially our main female. She had a great personality and wit about her. The world building was fantastic and the story flowed from start to finish. I would definitely read more from this author in the future. Also, how gorgeous is this cover art?! (And the recipes at the very end were a fantastic addition!)

This is an interesting and definitely unique historical fiction tale with fae/paranormal steampunk elements. This is the first book that I have read by this author, but it may just be one of my favourites that I have read this year. Hood of Sedna is the first book in the Stevie Capot Chronicles. There are a lot of characters, but Mina has done well infusing them with life and quirky characteristics. I enjoyed the banter between them which had me laughing at times. This captivating twisty tale had me hooked from the start and at times emotions were high. Imagine waking and not knowing who you are, where you are and how you got there. Having to resort to doing anything to survive. Well, this is what Stevie Capot has to deal with, but she doesn’t let things keep her down she is a strong and capable woman, a badarse struggling to piece together who she is whilst keeping abreast of the danger around her. Enter three men but are they here to help or endanger her.

This was such an incredible start to this series, and I can’t wait to pick up the second book already! I love a good thrilling mystery read, so this was definitely up my alley. I really enjoyed the way the author is able to create a world you can disappear in without realizing it. I was on the edge of my seat the entire way through the book! I thought the flow of the story was magnificent and smooth, never finding myself pulled out by a misplaced sentence or abrupt change in the storyline. I don’t want to give anything away, but I was not expecting the twists and turns that occurred! I love the suspense and will be waiting on pins and needles for the next book to arrive. I highly recommend getting lost in this dark crime mystery for your weekend!

This book is an intriguing mystery story that has family right at its heart. It is written in a way that draws you in slowly as the book progresses and keeps you on the edge of your seat. I wanted to know more about the family and their history. Although the mystery was a great, my favourite part of this book was the family element. It was so prevalent throughout the story and I think for me that made it more engaging and easy to connect with. I enjoyed the way the story was written and the pacing of the book. This really is a great read and I am looking forward to more books from this author.

This is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery series. This story was an enjoyable murder mystery. The author does an amazing job with the details and fully immersing the reader into the investigation. The authors knowledge of police procedures and what goes into an investigation really brings the story to life for me.
Stoddard Skidmore, rich son of St John Skidmore has been found dead in a brutal attack. The man suspected for the crime has been arrested and charged however something isn’t right. The murder looks to personal to be a robbery gone wrong.
Trueman North, retired detective has been hired by St John to get to the bottom of what really happened to his son. It should be a simple case just look over the evidence and see what he can make of it. However things don’t turn out that way. With meddling from St Johns daughter and his competitor North has his work cut out for him as he navigates and investigates the murder. How he is going to deal with things when the people around him think they can buy their way out of trouble? This is dark murder mystery which will use every bit of experience the detective has and more. Is the man currently serving a jail sentence the murderer? Does it have anything to do with Stoddard at all or was he collateral damage? Was this something to do with Skidmore’s competitors or someone closer to home? Will North uncover corruption that has put an innocent man behind bars?
I loved this story which was full of intrigue and twists and turns. I can’t wait to read more.

This story was uniquely fascinating. The story of her coming into existence was unique and nothing I had read before. The story was well written. I sat down and spent a whole afternoon reading. I started at 1 and didn’t put it down until 8. I just wanted to finish it that night. Those characters are so intriguingly described. It’s a really cool story. Relatable due to the characters and entertaining because its written very well. That cliffhanger, don’t even get me started. Here I sit waiting eagerly for book 2.

Family Ties Family Lies by Jacqueline Bouldin is full of the unexpected! There is plenty of suspense, mystery and is full of love! In Family Ties Family Lies, we are introduced to a family that has its fair share of secrets and is a book that you will not be able to put down. In this story, we are introduced to Rose, a photojournalist from Philadelphia who finds herself on the way home to Lake Amelia to care for her mother who has fallen ill. Rose is a photojournalist, who is a busy city girl with small-town ways and is about to have her world rocked when some family secrets come to light. Rose quickly finds out that her quiet, quaint life has troubles brewing and Rose feels that she can’t help but get involved. Family Ties Family Lies will pull you into a world with wonderfully placed clues and characters, but there’s so much more than mystery. Beneath the bonds that hold Rose’s family together and the lies that threaten to tear them apart are people who will touch your heart and leave you wanting more. A Girl, Stuck is the third book in the Found Families Series and is a Romantic Suspense that will have you turning the pages till the end. This can be read as standalones but I’m definitely going to check out the other two books in this series. I wasn’t real sure what to expect going in , but what I found was a wonderfully written story with characters that I couldn’t get enough of. I pretty much devoured this book in one afternoon because I simply had to know how everything was going to play out. I highly recommend reading this book to find out what happens next and im looking forward to reading more from this Author.

Again the second book in this series pulls you in from the beginning. The story does flow very well from one point of view to the others. I love how all of the main characters are integrated together especially Matthew, Xen, and Onyx. This book is very unique, I’ve never read one like this, I would highly recommend it. Plus, it’s a very easy read and has you wanting more.

Not the book ending on a cliff hanger of that magnitude. I was sucked in and didn’t even realize I reached the end. The villain of the book took me by complete surprise but in hindsight it shouldn’t have. This was the best installment so far. The characters are fantastic. There isn’t a dull point in the book. I cannot wait until the next one comes out.

In this second book we see Zach and Ashton in their sub/Dom relationship. A lot has happened and they are much stronger for it. But, just as things were getting settled in, a new contender has shown up. A once in a lifetime opportunity comes up for Ashton to lead a research team. But will this affect their relationship, just as Zachary is getting used to having a long-term relationship. I loved reading their story and I was not expecting that plot twist at the end. I hope to read more by this author!
Bailey and the CEO: A Corporate Love Story is the first book in A Better Man series by Amy Q. Barker. First of all, can we just take a moment to appreciate this beautiful cover, it is what drew me to the book. When I realised it was another of Ms. Barker’s books, it was an immediate one-click for me. Having loved her previous book, Lap Baby, I was excited to see what was on offer here. This was a wonderful story about finally seeing and appreciating what’s right in front of you. It is a women’s fiction story that had all the warmth and emotion I was expecting from Ms. Barker’s work, woven with touching and tender moments, likeable characters, realism, depth, and substance. As always, Ms. Barker has lovingly crafted her characters into really well-developed individuals with their own unique personalities, quirks, and flaws- making them very relatable, which resulted in an interesting and engaging story. I am definitely looking forward to reading more from Ms. Barker, ASAP. Happy Reading…

The story between Ashton and Zachary was really good. I enjoyed the back-and-forth between the two characters. Ashton is a widow who is still grieving. When she finally decides to attend a munch she finds that she has jumped into the lap of her boss the CEO. Zachary takes an interest when he sees that Ashton has applied to his club Shattered Embrace unbeknownst to Ashton. Ashton has dual personalities. She’s a strong independent woman, but when she falls at Zachary’s feet she becomes submissive. This was a great BDSM read that I enjoyed a lot. I can’t wait to read more!
It Comes From Within is Book 2 in the House Valdis series and I highly recommend reading the prequel along with the first book as this story is the continuation…. and wow…..just when I thought I had it figured out. This author continues to be one of my favorites and the thought of the whole storyline along weaving in all of the details…I am totally amazed. Told in multiple POV’s, which I love to really get to know all the characters and how they come into play in this book… I can only hope that maybe there will be another book……fingers crossed.
Xenobia has so much riding on her shoulders. Protecting the ones that she loves, there is an imminent threat and trying to figure out whom is behind it all. With Matthew, Onyx, Chi there are multiple connections. The merge of two houses is a LOT…and Xen is trying not to feel that it is to much. With illegal blood den and secrets….trust if a big issue….especially feeling betrayal. Having the White Queen on your heels and lurking in the shadows…will Xen be able to protect everyone she cares about and will she find out the true identity of the White Queen….
I highly recommend this series…it is fantastic. The twists and turns had me turning the pages and glued to the story-line.

As an English teacher, I am thrilled to have read a book that used one of our vocabulary words from last week- kowtow. One character wonders what a character is holding over a third character, that makes the third character kowtow to the whims of the second character. Information is power, and sometimes power is used for nefarious purposes. As an amateur musician, I love the backdrop of the symphony orchestra. As a reader, I enjoy the thrill of the whodunit genre.

Murder At Music Hall (True North Murder Mystery Book 1) by A. J. Ullman. This is the first book in the True North Murder Mystery series and I can’t wait for the next. Its the story of retired detective Trueman North. He is now and PI and has turned his horrible past into helping people find justice. North has been hired by a man who thinks the wrong man has been accused of the murder of his son. He wants to right man to pay. As his investigation gets deep the secrets get deeper and the rich and snooty people are trying to hide more than they are helping him. North needs to prove that the guy they have isn’t the killer and find who is guilty. With so many obstacles in the way this may be one case that leaves him stumped. True is not used to being among such wealthy people and he is surprised by all their very dark secrets which are not helping in his investigation. Will he be able to prove that they have accused the wrong man. Read this fast paced thriller to find out!

Murder at Music Hall is a good start to a new series, which I intend to continue reading. It takes place in Ohio in the the 1960s, which I was kind of surprised by. It was well written and I was happy to not figure it out. We follow Trueman North, a retired homicide detective as he re-investigates a murder. There was someone convicted, but the victim’s father doesn’t believe he was the real killer. He hires True to investigate and we follow along as he digs up all the dirt. We expect the victim to be a high class upstanding citizen, since he is a member of the orchestra, and comes from a rich family. But as True investigates further, he uncovers a tainted history. There are a slew of people who may want him dead, but True is left to find the killer. The book had a good level of suspense that kept me engaged, and I look forward to more in the series.
