Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mission Target is the seventh book in this incredible series. I enjoyed the canine soldier aspect of this novel. Cody is truly an amazing character! There is an exciting balance of serious and deadly situations with plenty of action, a little romance, and a hero who is true to his duty to America. While I don’t understand the call of duty for our hero, I appreciate seeing through Jake’s eyes what makes him feel that obligation. There is plenty of action, mystery and danger to keep you on the edge of your seat. The books in this series do good on their own, but it’s interesting to see these characters develop as each story progresses. I’ve read other books by this author and each one is an exciting thriller!

Mission Target is the newest addition (Book #7) to the Jake Wolfe series by Mark Nolan. It is another incredibly clever, intensely gripping, and suspenseful read. Mr. Nolan has come up with yet more heart-pounding situations for Jake and Cody to deal with – weaving a riveting adventure with a complex, multi-layered storyline that’s packed full of action, danger, tension, drama, intrigue, humour, mystery, murder, crime and investigation, covert ops, military/agency/police procedure, assassins, banter, secrets, corruption, greed, violence, a deadly drug, a dangerous international drug network with sinister intent, excitement, twists, high-sea escapades, and much more.
We once again we team up with former marine turned lawyer and covert operative Jake Wolfe, and his trusty companion, Cody, the highly intelligent, and loyal ex-war dog- who really is the smartest dog you’ll ever meet. Following along as all the excitement unfolds. When a deadly drug starts leaving bodies in its wake, Jake’s mission becomes cutting the head off the snake, stop the supply, trace the source, and eliminate the threat. This proves to be a bit more complicated when he becomes a target himself. Add a deranged serial killer, corruption, greed, danger, and high stakes- and the story becomes quite the adrenaline-fuelled ride.
It is a fast-paced story with lots of twists and surprising developments. This is such an absorbing read, I ended up reading it in one sitting because I just couldn’t put it down.
This series just gets better and more addictive with each new release. I know I keep saying this, but I really can’t get enough of this series- and I don’t think I’ll ever tire of joining Jake and Cody on one of their exciting ‘adventures’- so I really hope there are plenty more stories still to come.
The next book can’t come soon enough for me!

Thank you, Mark Nolan!

It’s been a while since I read a book by this author and I have missed Jake and Cody so I thought I would grab this book and remind myself why I love this series so much and as expected it didn’t disappoint. I was straight back into the action with Jake! He is such a great character to read about. The story is action from the very beginning and it doesn’t stop the whole way through. There is so much going on in this book I didn’t have time to put it down and read it all in one sitting. The authors writing is exciting to read and he is definitely skilled at weaving a creative and imaginative story!
These books can be read as standalone but I would recommend they are read in order!

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

While this is a good book I just didn’t love it as much as the previous stories. I hate to say this but it really seemed like non stop action(usually a good thing right?). He literally ends one and gets a call to go to another location for another assignment. I mean very little down time to spend time relaxing. There are too many govt agencies initials and explanations thrown at us for every little thing. I ended up just skimming those. Last issue was the girls. I am sure he is a hottie and has that great dog but not every woman he comes in contact with is after him(sexually) especially after stating he has a girlfriend and they know her. What Agent Green did..just weird…possible future stalker.
Anyhow I enjoyed seeing all the characters and meeting new ones. We get to see a whole gambit of people from Mafia to secret service. Watching Cody “work” and figure things out plus Jake..he is one smart cookie.
As always I look forward to reading these stories. This one really took us on a journey from the first incident to the last. The author did a good job winding it all together.

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book I picked up. This is the seventh book in this series which is just as great as the previous books in this series. I enjoy this author’s writing skills and attention to details to make the story realistic. This is a story that is well written and hard to put down. Jake is back in another mystery that turns into a race against time. When he tries to leave his past behind but he finds himself thrown back into it. I enjoyed his character and all that he brings to the story. He kept me turning pages fast just to see what would happen next. I enjoyed watching the growth of the plot throughout that made the story easy and entertaining to read. This is a fast paced story that I really enjoyed. This is one of my favorites yet. I highly recommend this book.

I absolutely love this series. I am so glad there is more Jake and Cody my favourite pair. Mission Target is the seventh epic tale in the Jake Wolfe series and not to be missed. You really do need to read he books in order to appreciate this pair and understand everything that has happened to bring the characters where they are today.
Mark is a master at cleverly weaving together a thrilling story that never leaves you wanting. He is a dynamic storyteller, and he packs a punch with his vivid vision and portrayal of fully developed characters and never-ending action.
This gripping tale is a rollercoaster of a ride with lots of twists and turns you don’t see coming. It is a suspenseful thriller that is so engrossing that the end is upon you before you know it. As much as there is action galore and lots of suspense and tension that is palpable, it is also fun and humorous, and I was laughing out loud.
The characters are well developed, fully realised and definitely flawed. Jake and his best friend Cody crack me up they are completely unique characters. Whenever these two are on a case there is mayhem and madness. The story is told in the third person POV of several characters. Telling a story this way I love as it makes the story even more dynamic and make them so much more real.
Jake a covert operative will do everything in his power to keep the enemy winning but this time he maybe way out of his wheelhouse as he faces an enemy like no other.
This fast-paced read is completely enthralling, and I read it in one sitting because it is so good that you don’t want to waste a minute in finding out what is going on.
With threats, a twisted maze of crimes, secrets, lies, and murders and a life-or-death battle and a ruthless global criminal organization Mark caters to every thriller lover.

Mission Target (Jake Wolfe, # 7)Mission Target by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Mission Target is the seventh in the Jack Wolfe Thrillers series, although each book can be enjoyed as a standalone. Jack, and his highly trained dog Cody, have been called on to help eliminate a vast terror threat facing the US. Jack also faces personal threats that put those he loves in danger.

Jack and Cody are a great team, taking care of each other and combining their skills to great effect. I also really like Sarah, Jack’s partner, who can keep a cool head in a crisis and shares Jack’s affection for animals. This is really a great series for readers who love animals and thrillers!

There’s plenty of detail around each action scene or stunt that takes place. I’m a particular fan of the ones where we find out afterwards important details that made things work out, a reminder of the careful planning going on behind the scenes (and Jack’s tendency to throw that out the window and improvise!).

I’ve enjoyed other Jack Wolfe books I’ve read before and this continues the trend of gripping, intriguing thrillers with plenty of humour and lightness for balance. It gets five stars from me!

The Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan – Review by Devon Pulliam

I could see this book as a movie. It was so good that I honestly could not put it down and read it in a day! I just had to know what happened next!

Angie and 3 of her friends are celebrating spring break when it turns deadly. Angie is the only survivor and is running for her life! With the help of the FBI and a therapy dog she finds her voice again and they are able to find the kidnapper/killer and discover so much more.

With the help of the therapy dog and of course Angie’s determination to survive they uncover dozens of girls who have been taken.

This book reminds you to teach your loved ones some safety techniques and not just women. Angie’s father was smart in giving her some actual tools to keep handy if she needed them for her car but to also remind her that they could be used for other things as well. This very well saved her life!

Grab this book and read it for the rest of the story and be prepared to stay on your toes while reading it!

What a trip! This is my first read by this author and it was fantastic.

I have been going on and on about this book for the last couple days while reading it. This action-packed thriller sucks the reader in and has you turning the pages until the very end. I was on the edge of my seat from the first chapter with my jaw-dropped. This one keeps the foot on the gas all the way through.

The author did an amazing job creating tension and developing the story. I enjoyed that each chapter flows well into the next despite each chapter generally changing the point of view from which the story is told. It is told from the narration of multiple characters, with most being told from the perspective of the main survivor, Angie, Agent Brenda Reynolds, and Jake. It was incredibly unique, however, to also have chapters told from the perspective of other supporting characters, as well as the “bad guys.” I loved the chemistry among the main characters and hope there are more stories to come!

This story is kind of like a Final Girl but she gets justice by helping to find the suspect. This was intriguing in so many ways and I absolutely loved the dog in this story, it made it so much better. I did find this a little cheesy and unrealistic at times but I was invested the entire time. Angie was a badass in the beginning and then shocked into silence and I was worried she’d never talk again but loved that Cody helped her through that. It was such a unique twist to have a dog be the rescuer in this. There were a few twists and things I absolutely did not see coming so that was fun and overall this was a good story. Just wish Angie didn’t come off so much as a helpless child and there wasn’t so much weird tension that I didn’t understand between Brenda and Jake.

The Girl Who EscapedThe Girl Who Escaped by Mark Nolan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I think the thing that makes this book so frightening (but very good) is that it is extremely realistic. You can imagine this really happens with tourists in a packed spring break town. The author clearly knows his way around the landscape of the story. Each detail makes it seem like this could be a newspaper expose rather than a novel. The characters are well built and I learned some things too – particularly about the VSRT!

I love a story that has a strong woman lead – this has two. FBI Special Agent Brenda Reynolds is fierce, caring, and loyal to her ethical code. Angie, the sole survivor of an attack, is the other main lead and she has some very strong instincts as well. The even better character than these two is the Golden Retriever, Cody. I love animals and have had some amazingly smart dogs in my life. Seeing them as a focal point in a novel is the perfect security for the thrill ride of the murder mystery. The tension between Brenda and Jake is palpable too and I can’t wait to read more about their budding partnership in future installments!
