Beckoned, Part 6: Adrift in New Zealand
Aviva Vaughn
5 out of 5 stars

I can not think of a better early birthday gift than the release of the final book in the Beckoned series. I can not even begin to describe to you how invested I am in these books. I’ve read several books over the past two years and this series, Aviva Vaughn’s writing has stuck with me significantly. Beckoned: Adrift in New Zealand brings us to the end of Soren’s journey. When I began the Beckoned series from very beginning, Soren was not a character I was deeply invested in, I am so thankful that the series continued to show us his story and the character growth that he experiences throughout the pages. I’ve probably said it close to a million times but there is a quality in Aviva Vaughn’s writing that is almost poetic, it touches just about every emotion I have.
I truly look forward to reading more from this author. She’s crafted another five star read.

She owns a consulting firm, she’s very dedicated to her business. But she’s secretly dealing with some emotional scars. Then she meets Brian who doesn’t do relationships until he meets Jenny. Jake the Growling DogJake the Growling Dog by Samantha Shannon
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Jake the Growling Dog was a sweet Book. Everyone Jake tried to play with all went away scared and thought he was a mean dog because he growled at them. Jake wasn’t very mean at all. He wanted to have friends and play with the kids but every time they heard his grrr they quickly left. One day a black squirrel named Neet tried to
make Jakes voice sound sweet.
Not every dog who growls is mean. He just didn’t know his sounds scared everyone away. This was a quick sweet book showing how everyone is different.

Dracones Guardian: Dark Dragon, Archangel Paranormal/Fantasy RomanceDracones Guardian: Dark Dragon, Archangel Paranormal/Fantasy Romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

There is a great story here, but I feel as though it’s buried under so much “but wait there’s more” that it just feels over done. I love a good supernatural story and I was excited for this book, but there was just so much going on and it took me so long to wade through it that I honestly just wanted to give up, but I didn’t. It was like the author had fifteen ideas and decided to throw them all into the first five chapters which made it difficult to see the charm of the characters and appreciate the adventure of the story. That being said, I found the base story riveting, the characters enthralling, and I kept reading to see what happened. This may not have been my cup of tea but I think that it is perfect for people who like a lot going on in a story and can keep track of it all.

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch, Book3)
By Avery Scott
Rated 4 stars

This is not a first time author for me but this is the first book I have read in this series. I got hooked by the cover. Who doesn’t love a hot fireman story! That is what interested me so I snagged it.

Tony was great! A typical ladies man. Who can never see himself with the same woman night after night. His distaste for his friend Derron is almost comical at times and I knew it would bit me him in the rear eventually. I love how he calls Georgia “peaches”. His idea of a fake relationship with Georgia worked against him. It was sad to see him fall but i was very happy for him while reading his thoughts. Georgia really had personal growth in this story. I felt sorry for her at times when she went to visit her family. I loved that Tony stood up for her. (I think she loved it as well).

This is an easy read that flows very well. I was able to read it in a day because once it got moving I could hardly put it down. Georgia and Tony have ups and downs in their relationship. I really *felt* for them a couple times. I enjoyed getting to read their story.

Secure Again is the second book in the series A Chase Group Story by R. L. Dunn. This author is becoming on my list of authors to read. Her characters are full of life and that I am relationship with them. I know this is true as my husband keeps asking me why I am having a conversation with Elizabeth. Elizabeth is a trauma surgeon who is asked to help keep Martin alive. There is a past relationship that is surfacing and Elizabeth is wondering what is going on with all of the inmates that are coming in. Martin needs to have Elizabeth to keep him alive but how can she when was heartbreak in their relationship. There is mystery, thriller, and romance in the plot line (which is what makes the book worth reading), I cannot wait to read the next story in the series.

This children’s story is family oriented, and a fun bedtime book.

What a fun story to read to children. It will open up a conversation every family needs I feel it is the perfect story, for what is happening in the world today. Jake is such a caring dog. When he realizes nobody wants to be his friend, because of his growling. He meets a new friend, Neet the Black squirrel. Who helps him find new friends. I can’t say enough about this story.

Samantha Shannon has written the story with family in mind. Not only does she teach a valuable lesson. She introduces a open conversation amongst the families. Her wording is simple enough for children to understand. I love the pictures in the book as well. Just a wonderful story. Thank you Samantha Shannon for writing such a wonderful, serious, and teaching children’s book!

Dracones Guardian: Dark Dragon, Archangel Paranormal/Fantasy RomanceDracones Guardian: Dark Dragon, Archangel Paranormal/Fantasy Romance by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A great read about duty . Zander is an archangel bound by duty to protect world’s from fallen angels. Over time, he spends his days guarding different worlds. Eventually, he ends up on Earth with a family of his own.. When trouble brews and danger lurks, can he protect his family?
A great read. Well developed plot with twists and turns that I just couldn’t put down. Well developed characters like Zander torn between duty and his heart or Chloe standing up for herself but kind underneath. Great cast of supporting characters like the kind Tierney or the quiet Jax.
I loved the visual detail throughout the novel especially wirh the scenes in Heaven with the floating clouds and grand golden doors for a sense of grandeur and majesty. Or the vivid colours of the wings in blacks and golds and reds bright and bold and beautiful full of detail for a sense of awe and magic.
I loved the sense of world building with magical beings with their own society with its rules and laws
The use of dates in chapter titles worked well to display how much time passed and was s great addition. The only issue I would raise is that the childlike narrative of Genna didn’t fit to the rest of the novel and distracted from the main narrative. Overall, a great read and I would give it five stars.

This is the third book in this series, I enjoyed it just as much as the previous too if not more. I enjoyed how this story pulled me in right from the start. The characters are connectable, relatable and they seem to just pop off the pages. It is a well written story that kept me turning pages until the end. Georgia thought she had it all until her fiance breaks it off. She is determined to get him back until she meets Tony who just might change her mind. I highly recommend this book.

This story kind of reads like a child’s fairytale but only the adult version. This story has characters that not only pop of the pages but also keep you reading until the last page. Wren has returned home. You would think that it would be a happy return but not so much. Her story is full of magic, nightmares and much more. She is a strong character that is fierce, determined and fights for what she believes in. This is a great book to pick up, no regrets. I highly recommend Wren’s story.

Well I knew I wouldn’t be disappointed as I already have read previous novels from this author but boy oh boy this novel was on a completely different level! It was a stunning love story but it really wasn’t just that it takes you on one hell of a emotional journey heartbreak, pain, fear, trust, and trying to have hope and faith. You will definitely need tissues and lots of them I’m not ashamed to admit that there was more then one occasion where I cried like a baby the tears were streaming down my face. There is a very sensitive topic in this novel but the author wrote about it in an amazing way true talent right there. I feel like after reading this novel it kind of opens your eyes to how cruel life can be but you just have to keep hold of that hope even if it’s just alittle and keep fighting! Wow just amazing!!!

Fictional-ish Friends by Natalina Reis is a well written standalone romantic comedy that I loved diving into. When Kyle finally open his eyes to Livie, will it be too late for love to blossom once again? YOU must read this book to find out what happens with Livie and Kyle!

Dracones Guardian (Dracones Book 6) by Sheri-Lynn Marean – Review by Erin Wolf

Dracones GuardianDracones Guardian by Sheri-Lynn Marean
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I give Dracones Guardian: Dark Dragon by Sheri-Lynn Marean, 5 stars.

Zander spent many years as a warrior archangel in heaven. When he is sent to earth to keep the fallen in line, the one thing he never thought possible happens — he finds true love and starts a family. But his happiness does not last long, he knows he will never love another woman, so he puts all his focus in his children. When he happens to meet his new neighbor — a human female — he starts to feel things he has not felt in a long time. But he had his one true love. Besides, he doesn’t want to put this fragile human in danger. When events happen, she just may be in peril. Can he find love again? What about the enemy that swears to defeat his kind? Can they all live happily ever after? Is there such a thing?

This was an amazing book! I assumed it was your typical paranormal romance, but I was so pleasantly surprised. There is so much going on in this book. The action, the suspense, the grief, plus happiness and love — it is all there. And the characters are incredible!! Not just the main ones, but the cast of secondary characters are just as great. I hope to learn more about them in future books.

This book has some heavy scenes and romance, but it is such a well-rounded book the if you like urban fantasy, you will be hooked. I cannot wait to read the next in the series and highly recommend this book.

5 out of 5 stars

The story Furbidden Attraction: A Cursed Romance (Raven Falls Cursed Romances Book 1) by R. O’Leary is an amazing book to read. I love how the author builds a world that includes shifters and other paranormal creatures. I loved reading about the characters of Jack and Louisa. Jack is a shapeshifter that has always put his clan first. He also can’t deny the pull and attraction that he feels for Louisa. Louisa is a woman who is trying to start over. Things are not going as she expected. Louisa is strong, independent, feisty, and stubborn. She too feels a pull towards Jack. What does the future hold for Jack and Louisa? Read this book to find out. This story had me both turning pages wondering what was going to happen next and also feeling the temperature in the room rise when reading of the romantic moments. I found myself hoping for Jack and Louisa to find happiness. I enjoyed the bantering that goes back and forth between them. I also enjoyed the additional characters that you are introduced to. Many of them are helpful to Jack and Louisa. Then there are those who have their own plans and agenda. Don’t miss out on a book that you won’t want to put down until you have read the final page. I highly recommend it.

Dracones Guardian by Sheri-Lynn Marean a four-star read that will give you wings. This is number six in the series, but it can be read as stand-alone, I haven’t read all of the series and don’t feel like I’ve missed anything. This one has it all, romance and drama with fantasy thrown in for good measure. It’s a story filled with ups and downs, enough drama and passion to keep you hooked but not enough that its overdone. Due to the ups and downs you do need to read closely and pay attention to the story to keep up, but if you do it’s a good read. I don’t want to give spoilers as the story is worth reading.

After Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Series Book 2)After Wrath by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

So after what happened at the end of Wrath (book 1) I wasn’t so sure I was going to like the second book in the series but I absolutely loved it! Again it was dark, gritty and a little gruesome (although not quite as much as book 1 as things are left more to the readers imagination) and I loved the characters. It took me a little while, well a few pages anyway, to get to like Alek I wasn’t quiet expecting him to win me over like he did but the way he was with Kitty (Brynn) was really sweet, he may have not wanted to like her but it was obvious in the things that he did that she meant something to him. The chemistry between them was hot and there were certainly some steamy moments also!
I am extremely excited for the next book in the series ‘Surviving Wrath’! I cannot wait to see what happens next!!

Trickster's Hunt (Three Tricksters #1)Trickster’s Hunt by Carrie Whitethorne
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

There are adult themes and adult language as warned by the author.

Trickster’s Hunt by Carrie Whitethorne is an interesting story. This is my first by Carrie Whitethorne and I found it a great story. There were times that I was a bit confused but I continues to read on and I am glad I did. There is an element of Egyptian Mythology, personally I love that subject, that in interwoven into the plot. There is also three genies and if you do not know anything about genies they are real tricksters like the title of the book leads you to believe. Maia is the main character and she is nineteen but acts like she is much older. Will Maia capture your mind and heart as she does mine?

Act I: Seed On Fire (Moore Family Saga)Act I: Seed On Fire by Michele Sims
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Act I: Seed On Fire (Moore Family Saga Book 1) by Michele Sims is a story of love and passion, uncertainty and expectations, fear and loss, hope and surprises. It is a quick and engrossing read that is full of the unexpected, it is also an emotional rollercoaster ride and yes there were tears. The story is of a couple that are madly in love and are trying to juggle their careers, each other and the impending arrival of their first baby and what it means for them. There are some ups and downs and some unbelievable moments when you didn’t know what the outcome would be which had you on the edge of the seat. The main characters were delightful but some others not so much but they all made their part in the story. The romance between the main characters if off the charts and you can help but fall in love with them even in times when things are a little rocky.

I can’t wait to see what Michele brings us with the next installment to the series.

Shot and left for dead, shapeshifter Jack needs to find out who wants him out of the picture… preferably before the sexy veterinarian he kidnapped manages to escape again.

Louisa moved to Raven Falls to make a better life for herself. But “better” isn’t working out so well. Her apartment is a dive, her boss might as well be possessed, and the sweet dog she brought home isn’t actually a dog. Not that the exceedingly attractive naked man in her bed isn’t a step up—but it would be nice if she knew who the hell he was… or how he got there.

Jack has always put his clan first and his desires second—until Louisa. Her dark curls and warm, vanilla scent ignite a fire within him that he can’t quite shake. Sure, he can transform into a seven-foot monster, but he deserves love as much as the next guy. Knee-deep in a dangerous investigation, memories missing, and a bullet wound in his shoulder, Jack doesn’t have time to dawdle with a certain brunette… even if she is waving a baseball bat in his face.

Unless he takes her with him.

Kidnapped and pissed off, Louisa wants nothing to do with the sexy shifter and even less to do with his secret world of monsters and nightmares. But the longer she spends with Jack, the less she can deny the odd pull between them, or that he might just be the “better life” she was looking for all along.

A fairytale retelling in a land of magic and war, see Cinderella like you’ve never seen her before.

As Captain, Wren is sworn to protect the soldiers she leads into battle, which includes preventing a potential massacre in an upcoming campaign that could mean the end of the war in Heros. But defying orders from her Lord could mean a noose around her neck…

If she gets caught, of course.

Accompanied by men and women willing to accept the risk, Wren knows they need a miracle to overpower the sorceress who controls the magical creatures surrounding the city of Eius—one grand enough to win Sortis the victory they’ve been after since the War of Giants began.

There’s always a price to be had where magic is involved, though. A price she doesn’t realize until it’s too late.

One that might just cost Wren her life.

The Embers We Seek is a serial series, meaning a new episode of 8-15,000 words will be published in the last full week of every month. Cinderella’s tale will be completed in ten episodes.

This is a story full of mystery, murder and a little romance in the mix. This is a full length novel. Well worth the read.

I really love this story. It was a true rollercoaster of suspense.uv Never a dull moment. Talmon is an veteran, suffering from PTSD. His duty with the Army may have ended, but the nightmares have not. Not long out of the hospital, he gets hired as a spy. That is where the story takes off.

Douglas Wells has written yet another fast paced suspense story. I really have come to like this author. He has a way of getting you worked up. The emotional settings, the romance and the killings all brought out the feels. I fell in love with his characters and want to read more. Keep them coming Douglas Wells!

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant – Review by Maura Harper

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

A couple of things I contemplated as I began this review…

Did I love this book so much because I have a mad crush on the author? Sure
Did I love this book so much because I have more than a passing acquaintance with drains (remind me to tell you the story about why I no longer say “if there is ANYTHING you need, call me”)? Yup
Did I love this book so much because I had to put adulting on hold so that I could finish it? Indeed
Would I be rating this book differently if I didn’t know who wrote it and it was about something other than the specific thing it is about? Maybe, but the good news is that it IS by this author and the subject matter IS what it is.

From the very first chapter I was drawn into this story. I picked it solely because of the author’s name and didn’t know the subject matter until I read the author’s note and first few pages. Each and every character is fully developed and actualized. The details are laid out in such a conversational that you don’t realize you are being given necessary background and medical details that are needed to understand what is going on.

At times the pace slowed down a bit, I think it had to – Sometimes life slows down to a crawl – and sometimes it was moving so quickly it was like watching 30 second montage.

I don’t want to give anything away about this book, I will simply say – I absolutely recommend it and it is one of my top 10 reads of 2019.

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant – Review by Robin Rankin

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant is a story that shows the depth of true love and it was a truly beautiful story.

Layla and Kellan meet by chance when she saves him from an uncomfortable situation and the sparks between them are undeniable. What started as a one stand turned into so much more without either of them wanting it to due to the timing in their lives not being ideal.

The relationship between Layla and her Mom was so relatable for me on both sides. The Mother/Daughter relationship can be a tough one to navigate and I feel like Ms. Bondurant did a great job showing the ups and downs.

I have had the pleasure of reading almost everything written by Ms. Bondurant and this is my favorite so far. I look forward to seeing what she is releasing next.
