Secure Again (A Chase Group Story) by R. L. Dunn

5-stars

Secure Again is the second novel in this series and can be read as a standalone. It was an amazing novel from start to finish. The storyline was easy to follow and I loved the main characters. Martin and Elizabeth were wonderful to follow. I loved that Elizabeth was a strong female doctor who stood up for herself in her field. She was my favorite person in this novel. I felt the story was addicting and had an excellent climax and romance development. This is such an amazing series and I look forward to more from this author.

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells – Review by Erica Fish

The Mourning IslandsThe Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells is my first book by this author and I am in love with this story. Douglas Wells does an amazing job of keeping on the edge of my seat and a plot that kept me guessing what was going to come next. There were a couple of times when I thought I knew what was going on it took a sharp right and quick left. It has murder, suspense, mystery and romance all rolled into one story. What does a resort, Cuban mobsters, and a veteran with PTSD all have in common? A really good book that you need to read.

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant. This story was amazing! I was left in a pool of tears. Its the story of Layla who seems to have her life all together. She has a Hollywood boyfriend, well respected job and glamorous lifestyle until it all falls apart. She reflects on her life and decides she needs to make big changes. Enter Kellan who has returned to Seattle to get his Construction business off the ground. Kellan and Layla end up hooking up but its only meant to be a one night stand. When Kellan’s ex comes to town he talks Layla into acting like his girlfriend. Kellan is so romantic, kind, patient and loving. Why did he have to come in Layla’s life now of all times. Will Layla let down her guard and fall for Kellan, will Kellan be there for Layla regardless of her choice? This book is so emotional, you will cry, laugh and cry again. I loved every minute of it.

Final installment in the Beckoned series which I must say it is sad to see the end of this series. But at the other end it’s a happy ending to see how Soren has grown as a character through the series and the relationships with everyone he has ever met and met again.

Unraveled by Aubrey Bondurant a four-star read that will unreal you. I was so close to giving this five-stars, but I loved it so hard, but I didn’t think it was as good as some of the other stories from this author I have read previously. This is deep and emotional and well written to the point that you will feel everything, that could have been too much had it not been such a talented author. Layla is sublime, she makes the story for me, Kellan brought a good part of the story, but Layla, she just made it for me. This one will need tissues, but you will be glad to have them and you will be glad when you finish this one.

Wrath (The Deadliest Sin Series Book 1)Wrath by Gwyn McNamee
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Wow, I knew Wrath is one of the seven deadly sins but Gwyn McNamee put it to a new level of deadly sin with her story Wrath. Her writing style consumed me from the beginning. Her characters and plot line kept me engaged and left me wanting more. The story is a fast read, but do not go too fast otherwise you may not see the whole picture. Can you define the line between love and hate? Will you feel what Griffen and Jade have for each other or will wrath keep them apart?

The Mourning IslandsThe Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells. I loved this book. Its fast paced and full of emotions and action. Its the story of Talmon Bonnett who has just been released from the hospital after the Battle of Mogadishu in Somalia. He has been suffering from PTSD but can usually contain it. He is hired by a wealthy couple to spy on Rusty Wing who has just built Mourning Island’s new resort. He puts himself right in the middle of Rusty’s circle, getting to know Rusty’s sad fiancee, his Cuban First mate Santos and Marlene, Rusty’s sexy sister. Talmon gets to know Marlene very well after he falls in love with her and his lies about why he is really there threatens all those relationships. In this book the good guys and bad guys tend to blur the line. Talmon is so confused because he has come to really care about these people but he also wants to do his job. There is action, suspense, mystery and twists right and left. This book left me emotionally spent! I loved it! Read The Mourning Islands to find out if Talmon survives this wild tale!

I loved everything about this children’s book! This author did an amazing job of conveying an important message in a way that children can actually understand.

Jake is a very misunderstood dog, he’s nothing like he appears and thankfully one of his friends is able to see through his scary growl and recognize him for who he is. Everyone is unique in their very own way and we need to be thankful for our differences and be open to change.

I was able to read this book with my 3-year-old and even he was able to understand that Jake is a good dog and his growl is his only way of communicating, well done Samantha! I will definitely be reading this to him again and again!

5+++++ Stars

Kerri has to be one of my absolute favorite female leads EVER!! OMG I loved this book, I loved the story, the writing, the characters, the imagination it has left me with wondering where this series will go from here, EVERYTHING!

I am a sucker for an MC story but this one was totally different in many ways and I WANT MORE!! This book read so fast, I could not believe how lost I got in it and before I knew it I was done and so so sad because I loved the whole feel of this story and I want more, I can not wait to see if the things going through my mind come true. I loved the dynamic between Kerri and Tracker, well actually Kerri and everybody in this story but the push and pull between those two was totally awesome. I love a strong alpha male and the strong stubborn sassy females that challenge them and this story had that in spades.

Bring on Hawk, I loved him in this story and the girls night scene totally and completely cracked me up, and I loved Shelly and I think everyone should have a friend like her!

This was an amazing start to this series and I will be first in line for the next…

LOVED LOVED LOVED IT!!

Unraveled simply unraveled me. I knew what I was getting myself into when I started this book, but I was still not prepared for the emotions that poured through me. I was completely and utterly wrecked by this book. As with any book that deals with such a topic as this one, it can be difficult to read, but the beauty of this book lies in the beauty of the characters and their humanness. As I read this story, I felt that Kellan was just too good to be true but I know that if I ever faced this reality, my husband would definitely be more Kellan than Chad. There is a strength I found while reading this, one that reminds me just how strong we can be and I think that this story will do the same for anyone lucky enough to read it. I would just recommend not being in public and having a box of tissues when you do.

Spouse Trap: A Madeline Dawkins Mystery (The Madeline Dawkins Series Book 1) by Cynthia Hamilton – Review by Katie Matthews

Spouse Trap (Madeline Dawkins, #1)Spouse Trap by Cynthia Hamilton
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Spouse Trap was a really great read! I haven’t read anything by this author previously but I absolutely will after really enjoying this book! I was hooked into the story quite quickly and I liked that I felt like I was living the story along with Madeline as she tried to unravel the events of the night she cannot remember! I admired her for the resilience she built up after everything she went through. She was a really strong main character! I found that I wanted to keep turning the pages just so I could find out what was going to happen to Madeline, would she finally find out what happened and what it meant for her marriage!
I am definitely looking forward to the next book in the series and I highly recommend this one!

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells – Review by Katie Matthews

The Mourning IslandsThe Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

The genre of this book isn’t one that I would normally choose to read however I had seen it promoted on social media a few times and the blurb sounded intriguing so I thought that I would give it a go and I am so glad I did. It was a really interesting read that was really well written and it was nice to read something a little bit different too. I liked the suspense that ran throughout the book that kept me guessing the whole way through. The author had clearly put a lot of thought into the characters in the story and making sure that the way in which he wrote about them was sensitive and respectful to people who may also suffer the same condition. The authors writing was really detailed and whilst the storyline was a little complex I had no problems following what was happening and I was fully invested in what I was reading.
A really great read and one that I would highly recommend!

The Mourning Islands by Douglas Wells is a book well worth reading. I have to say that this is not what I would normally pick to read but I am so glad that I went out of my norm, had I not I would have missed a beautifully written story. This book is going to take you on a journey that has a lot of layers, these layers for me anyway are suspense, mystery and a little romance. That’s enough to make the story well worth reading right? Well throw in twists and turns throughout the book, you won’t be able to turn the page quick enough to see what is happening next. I highly recommend you read this book; you won’t be disappointed.

SPEECHLESS…this story left me speechless with my HEART pounding! It’s so so GOOD!

This is not just a romantic story! It is so much more! I really feel as though I am going through this with Layla. (Love her name Btw) Her courage, awkwardness, insecurities and at times her loneliness all got to me. I can see why so many people are giving this all the stars! This is simply outstanding! I usually don’t go for book with too much realism. Because it’s a book and I want to escape. But this one just touched my heartstrings.

Kellan was simply wonderful! I want every man to be like him! Kind, thoughtful and sexy all rolled into one package. He does and says the most wonderful thing to and for Layla in this story. I love his never give up attitude!

The secondary characters deserve a mention. Her parents…well her mother drove me crazy..she almost seemed like a “real” mom. But Even crazy has its reasons. Let’s talk Russell! I almost love Russell as much as I do Kellan!! Best brother ever! Check! Best friend ever! Check! Full of humor and love for his family! Check! check! There is Nothing not to like about this man!

This isn’t my first book by this author but I think it’s her best that I have read by her. This is a little different from what she usually writes but like I said….better! This hits a lot of nails right on the head. Nothing is shy-ed away from. It’s perfect and I wouldn’t hesitate to highly recommend to women and men.
Very lovely and touching!

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch Series Book 3)
By: Avery Scott
5 out of 5 stars

The story Too Hot to Handle (The Catch Series Book 3) by Avery Scott is a book that I loved reading. It hooks you in from the beginning and I found myself not wanting to put it down until I had read the final page. I loved the characters of Georgia “Gigi” Sinclair and Tony. Georgia is a woman who is successful in her social media feed. She is smart and sassy. She is also determined to win back the boyfriend that has called off their engagement. Tony is a firefighter. He finds himself drawn to Georgia, he can’t stop thinking of her. What does the future hold for Georgia? Is one of the two men her perfect match? Read this book to find out. I grew to care about what happened to Georgia and Tony with each chapter that I read. There is emotional dialogue. There are additional characters that were introduced and some of them I enjoyed reading about. There are also those that I found to have their own agenda and didn’t care about how their words or actions affected others. There are romantic moments included. I enjoyed reading about the interactions and bantering that goes on between Georgia and Tony. The author does a wonderful job in making both the storyline and characters come alive. I would highly recommend reading this book.

I am familiar with this style of writing because I subscribe to several authors who write continuing stories in their newsletters. I find it a very enjoyable way to read because I still get to read a full story with way less pressure in the timing to finish.

The first episode of this serial had great world building. In this world, there does not seem to be a patriarchy because the women are so strong and have leadership roles. “I’ve always had a hard time seeing the woman I’d become who was so different than what I’d always pictured as a child.”

This story is filled with magic and friendships and hellhounds and war.

I absolutely will be following this author so I am alerted to each new episode.

Too Hot to Handle by Avery Scott is the third book in The Catch series. This can be read as a standalone. Georgia has hit a bump in the dating scene and had an accident that requires the assistance of a fireman. In comes Tony to the rescue. Will the sparks explode between the two of them?
I enjoyed the dialogue between Georgia and Tony. They have an interesting chemistry because they do not seem to be a match especially in the eyes of Georgia but there is a draw between them. I also really thought the story was fun. I really liked the characters were being given second chances. I will be going back to catch the others in the series because I would like to see more of the other characters and see the other stories.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Out of the Box Collection that features Out of the Box Awakening, Out of the Box Regifted and Out of the Box Everlasting was a 5+ read. My emotions were all over the place and I needed several kleenex to make it through.

We start with Olivia moving to Chicago to be with her husband who just transferred for work. When she gets there his friend Ash is the one who picks her up. And of course her husband conveniently seems to be out of town, alot. She starts to see a side to Ash that is something that she never had with her husband, they enjoy each others company but never cross a line. When Olivia gets some devastating news, Ash is there for her. Can there possibly be a future for these two?

As we move forward through all three books we see so many different levels of life experiences with twists and turns. There is tragedy and some hidden secrets that resurface. I really was rooting for Olivia to find the happiness that she truly deserved and Ash tugged at my heartstrings. All of the secondary characters were great, I loved all the kids and the band members. I did not care for Olivia’s husband and his actions. This story really makes you think about things as you are getting older. You don’t realize how much you rely on some people until they are no longer there and you are left trying to rebuild. The details of the story were amazing and pulled me right in. Having all three books at once was great, I didn’t have to wait to find out what was coming next. If you’re looking for a great second chance romance series, this is a must read. I highly suggest 1-clicking and getting started as soon as you can.

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch, Book 3)Too Hot to Handle by Avery Scott
My rating: 4 of 5 stars

Too Hot to Handle (The Catch Series Book 3) by Avery Scott is a romantic comedy that continues with overlapping characters from previous books in the series. You can absolutely read this story separately, but I would encourage you to read the other books to get a more thorough sense of some of the amazing supporting characters. In Too Hot to Handle, this story had me laughing at some of the character hi-jinks to wanting to hug them or smack them on the head for some of their behaviors. Each of these brought a well rounded edge to the story and made it come full circle! Georgia feels like a lost individual during some parts of the story, but watching her come into her own and figuring out dynamics was well paced in the book. Then Tony, whew, talk about a hottie come to laugh. He gave this story just wanted it needed pairing up against Georgia’s softer character. I love Avery Scott’s writing and I think this is definitely my favorite from the series!
