The Frontman by Lawrence Parlier – Review by Meg Tyrrell

The FrontmanThe Frontman by Lawrence Parlier
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

I was introduced to author Lawrence Parlier from a facebook author takeover. I fell in love with the author before the book. I decided to give it a try, and my library is better for it. I loved this book. In The Frontman we get the story of Kerry, a now deceased music legend. He dies at the beginning of his latest tour and people are starting to question if things were accidental or if there is foul play- drugs and what not-you know the hearsay. I cannot express how much this book was so much- absolutely recommend. Great read, writing style and characters.

Virtually Gone (High-Tech Crime Solvers #6)Virtually Gone by Jacquie Biggar
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my second book by Jacquie Biggar. I haven’t read any other books in the High-Tech Crime Solvers series but I will be going back to read them. I have loved Jacquie’s writing style in the first book I read of hers and this was no different. I enjoyed the story and the characters. Julie Crenshaw is our main female character, she’s an investigative reporter. Matthew Roy is our main male character, he’s a detective and frustrated with his inability to track a rapist terrorizing his city. I loved this story enough that I’m going back to start from the beginning of this series. If you’ve never read anything by Jacquie- you need to. If you have but haven’t read any of this series- you need to.

I loved reading the book The Widow: A Dark Romantic Fantasy by Naomi Valkyrie & Rebecca E. McEwen. It is a story that pulled me in from the beginning and I couldn’t stop until I finished. It is a story that is dark & mysterious. It is well developed and has characters which made the story pop and easy to read. I enjoyed reading about the characters of Vashti and Absalom. Vashti is grieving over the loss of her husband. Absalom is a young man who doesn’t have a place to call home. The way the book is written I could feel the emotions of Vashti and Absalom. Read this book to find out what happens. Don’t miss out on a story that is this entertaining. I would highly recommend reading it.

I can feel the darkness surround me whenever I close my eyes, making me want to do the unthinkable. I have to resist. To defeat the shadows that threaten to destroy this school.
But how can I remain in control when my soul wants to be reckless?
If you like BR Kingsolver, Leia Stone, Jenetta Penner, K.F. Breene, and Krista Street you’ll be thoroughly entertained by this original page-turner.
My Review:
This is the first book I’ve read by Tabi Slick. Tompkin’s School is about Izara and her brother Kain who are sent to a boarding school in Oklahoma because they clash with their father’s new mistress. At this point Izzy and Kain seem perfectly normal teens, but when they get to Tompkin’s school strange things begin to happen to both of them. I loved that the plot was so fast moving yet didn’t feel rushed, and I got to enjoy this thrilling ride with the twins and their friends. Can’t wait for the next one!

Review :
This is my second book by Judy Moore. She is an amazing writer. She did a great job of bringing the small town of Manatee Beach, Florida and all of the characters to life. The first book was Somebody In The Neighborhood. Both books are set in the same small Florida town of Manatee Beach. They are not in the same series and have different main characters, there are some secondary characters who show up in both. Highly recommended!

Wrapped Up In You by Erin Bevan – Review by Meg Tyrrell

Wrapped Up In YouWrapped Up In You by Erin Bevan
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is my second book from Erin Bevan. I love her writing. This is a story that reads like a fairytale with a princess and maybe even a prince charming. This is not my first book by this author but it is one of my favorites of her. Not knowing about Logan’s life kept me turning the pages, as well as who Jenny would pick. Would she follow her heart or follow tradition and what everyone else wanted instead? If you are looking for a sweet story that will get you and keep you in the mood for Christmas, look no further than this story!

Feisty Heroines Romance Collection of Shorts Anthology – Review by Meg Tyrrell

Feisty Heroines: Romance Collection of ShortsFeisty Heroines: Romance Collection of Shorts by D.F. Jones
My rating: 5 of 5 stars

There are thirty-six authors in this anthology. With thirty-six different short stories, there is something for every taste. The stories are not all paranormal, but rather a collection of feisty females determined to get what they want. They are grouped according to genre, so if a certain genre is not your normal preferred reading, skip it, but do come back to them. I read every single one and they are all worth reading! I found some new authors to add to my ever-growing “to be read” pile.

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

This is the third book in The Sanctuary Chronicles and I have loved each one. I suggest reading the previous books first in order to get the depth of the characters. This was a book that really drew me in right away and kept my attention for pretty much the whole book. There is a sense of urgency, darkness, light, forbidden love, redemption and forgiveness that keeps you turning the pages. This has well developed characters that bring the story to life. I had no issues connecting to them with each page I turned.

This is the first book I’ve read by CR Robertson. “Ezekiel was cursed by The Blood Queen centuries ago. Every time he feeds, she takes something from the woman he’s with – a memory, an emotion, a vital part of them that leaves his lover changed forever.” This was such a good book. I couldn’t put it down. Honestly it’s been awhile since this genre was something that hooked me so quickly- and yet here I am on my soapbox- READ THIS BOOK! It’s amazing. In this installment Ezri, our main female character, is finding her footing in the world as both a cop and the Savior of the Magical Community. It was a great story as Ezri tries to put together the pieces of what is going on with her cases. My favorite characters are back and new ones are introduced as Ezri rushes to solve the mystery. It was well written and drew me in. Just a great story and welcome addition to this new amazing series.

This is the first book I’ve read by this author, and I’m going back to read book 1 immediately! I loved this book- from the way she wrote the story itself to the characters I met. You get such a range of emotions from this book- sappy, sexy, serious- it’s a win all the way around. The story follows Milo and Jill, two people who haven’t seen each other for the last 12 years. Both of these characters were written so perfectly- with flaws and all. If you’ve never read Sylvie Stewart- you NEED to!

My rating: 5 of 5 stars

Saint Code: The Lost is the first book in the Saint Code series and the fourth book in The Lucky Devil Series by Megan Mackie. I absolutely adore this series! I became addicted to Megan Mackie’s stories back in the first book in The Lucky Devil series and have been eagerly anticipating each new release. This story doesn’t continue the thread that began in ‘Finder of the Lucky Devil’, but seems to predate it. Instead we follow St. Augustina the cyber-spy as she (along with St. Benedict) takes on a new job after being hired by the very mysterious Orange Lady for what seems to be a routine, if not dangerous, case. Read this book to find out what happens!

The characters are realistic and I cared and wondered about each of them.I loved their love story and how bound together they were throughout this twisty, fast-paced, future-set novel.

This was an amazing story about how life COULD actually be and how we can make it better. I fell into this book and didn’t want to come back out. To avoid repeating the mistakes of the past, Aroha and her classmates must learn harsh lessons. Remember to maintain, “Honesty, Respect, Fortitude,” as you read this thrilling and agonizing tale of devastation, survival and hope. A post-nuclear war, dystopian vs. utopian, environmental romance.

Grace’s Ghosts is the first book I’ve read by Stephanie Wilson Peterson. This was the best children’s book I’ve read in a very long time. Honestly- it was full of emotion and great plots with amazing characters. I read this in a few hours because I couldn’t put it down! This story follows Grace who’s able to see ghosts, and have conversations with them. You get to meet her family and the people that go to her school. Every one who’s important is so deeply created, I either loved or despised them – whichever emotion Stephanie wanted me to feel. I hope there’s more of Grace’s story because I can’t wait for more!
